Question Poco F3 yellowish screen - Xiaomi Poco F3 / Xiaomi Mi 11X / Redmi K40

The whites looks yellowish, like warmer tone. reading mode is off. I got phone this yesterday.
MIUI Global 12.5.6
My last phone was Redmi K30, and this is my first amoled sceen phone.

Was it like that out of the box?
If so it may be a firmware or hardware issue.
If not, 3rd party app like a book reader.

Is "Adaptive Colors" off in Color Scheme Settings?
If yes.. maybe refund/replace your phone, if it's a hardware problem...

Can you take a picture of the device showing the yellow tint? It definitely doesn't sound normal, but could be a software issue

the picture can't show the issue, but it is like you set the color temperature to warm or turning on night light/reading mode.

it is off. temperature is at default, and setting it to cool didn't fix it either. I guess I'll ask for a replacement.

If you are talking about white looking yellowish; here's what to do:
1- Go to settings > display > colour scheme
2 - Choose advanced settings
3 - Choose enhanced
4- Go to R (red) set it to about 75% and G (green) to 75% as well - Leave blue at a 100%
5- Reduce both value and contrast by about 5-10% ( just a lite slide )
6- Set Gamma to 0% ( slide it all the way to the left)
7- Save changed and report back the difference.

It's 6am, and screen is slowly reducing the yellow tint. look like this have scheduled reading mode, even though I have it disabled.

Turns out the night mode configuration was from my previous device and restored by google to my new poco f3.
I used SystemUI Tuner to disable the hidden night mode settings.

Hi! I got my Poco F3 yesterday and currently encountering the same problem. I've already downloaded SystemUI tuner and enabled ADB. But where can I turn off this hidden night mode?

Unbelievable, it's really better, white is white.
I just bought this phone, is it a hardware defect ? (should I return it?)

I had this problem too, what @azeunkn0wn suggested worked for me (when the screen turned yellow at night)
Without root:
1. Enable ADB like this in the developer option

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",

}
2. Reboot the phone to apply the changes
3. Disable night display option with the commands:
- adb shell settings put secure night_display_activated 0
- adb shell settings put secure night_display_auto_mode 0
4. Reboot the phone to apply the changes
And it should be good
Note: if it doesn't work, check also:
Settings - Accessibility - Vision - Color correction - Off

stock auto brightness too low

Hello Guys,
I'm wondering what may be the reason for having too low auto brightness in SGN2. When I switch to manual there is no problem but the automatic mode is too dark in my test. Any ideas to fix that?
It actually manages automatically according to the surrounding light so it can vary its brightness
Yup, mine on auto and it keeps on changing the brightness accordingly.
Dear try iy while in a good light source and it will change according... with less light it goes to dark
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
As far as I know you can trim the auto brightness under settings so that the screen gets brighter or less bright under the same surrounding brightness condition
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I used to like auto brightness...by recently I have grown to set my phone at FULL brightness...love it!

Its too dark even if you leave Auto checked and slide the brightness slider all the way up?

+1 !
this is smart because even with automatic brightness you can set it minimum and max.
Guys, just a small tip, there's a setting in the power saving settings which says something like arrange the light and color of the screen by analyzing in accordance with external light etc. That setting is enabled by default, disable it and compare the results. I have done the same and now have a much better display.

just set the slider to maximum at auto brightness
I'm happy with the auto light levels with the exception of the browser. It's dark. As soon as I enter it the screen darkens and when I leave it (or open something else, like the bookmarks for example) for a fraction of a second it brightens up before it switches to the next app/screen.
Anyone else experiencing this?

The stock browser on the S3 has a seperate brightness setting you have to change. I assume the Note 2 is the same.

On the S3, with the browser open you would hit the menu button and Brightness would be one of the options to select.

Redmi Note 8 Pro Screen Calibration (warm temperature)

Hi,
I received my RN8 Pro just yesterday (22nd Oct) (India).
The first thing I noticed is the screen quality.
I find the screen is calibrated a tad bit warmer than usual. Even if you go to the screen settings and tweak it to 'cool', it still remains yellowish.
I came from OnePlus5, which had an AMOLED screen (not fHD/SuperAmoled). There the screen was obviously more crisp, I don't really expect that here. However, the calibration looks bit different if I hold these 2 phones side by side.
What I want to know is, is this just my RN8 Pro, or others also feel the same?
Also, in MIUI where is the 'night light' setting, where I can either manually or automatically turn the screen hue warmer? It's one of the main features in OxygenOS. Actually, the current RN8P calibration looks like 'night light' set.
Thanks.

I'm facing the same issue. The screen feelings very yellowish, especially at night. I thought it was my device fault. ?
I think this is eye protection. In the official presentation they wrote "Low blue light TÜV Rheinland-certified screen".

If it was related to screen then it would have been yellowish always.
This is a software bug. Even though reading mode is disabled, I get yellowish screen from 10pm to 6am.
Not related to screen, that's talking about how the screen works.
I've not noticed the colour change depending on the hour, but the Redmi Note 8 Pro is definitely more yellow screen than the Redmi Note 5 Pro I upgraded from.
On the left is the Redmi Note 5 Pro, and on the right my new Redmi Note 8 Pro.

During day time when I compare my Redmi Note 8 pro with Asus Zenfone Max pro m1, then both are equally white but after 10 pm it suddenly turns yellowish as if night light is activated.
This thing has nothing to do with hardware, screen is perfect always, it's just that the bug activates night light even though it's turned off, from 10 pm to 6 am.
Yes, I understand what you're saying about the timings.
So far, mine has been yellow since 8am when I powered my new phone on for the 1st time, and it's now 9pm and it's still yellow.
Solved
SOLVED! It was probably problem bewteen MIUI and Google (Android?) default settings.
It's just two steps through debugging:
adb shell settings put secure night_display_activated 0
adb shell settings put secure night_display_auto_mode 0

Try this without ADB
Launch google playbook, read something, anything. Click the screen and then the "Aa" icon, for changing brightness/fonts. Then there, click Setting again, and you'll find "Night Light" turned on and scheduled.
Simply turn it off and Voila!
No rooting, no launcher or nothing required.

Changing fonts you change fonts in phone also ?
Hey, I had this issue on my device as well. The issue on my device was due to a disconnect between my previous device settings and miui in note 8 pro.
I had activated reading mode on my previous phone and during backup, this setting got transferred on note 8 pro as well. But it did not show reading mode as activated in the settings. If I activated it the screen got mode yellow.
There are two ways to solve this one is through the ADB commands(as referred by some people in the forum) that I did not attempt. The other is to factory reset your device and install backup after disabling reading mode on your previous device.
This was not a hardware problem for me and I don't think it is for others as well.

Go to Settings > Additional Settings > Accessibility > Color correction (And play around with one of the color correction mode). It will reset the screen and yellowish screen will disappear.

Screen dp

So let's talk about the biggest turn off on this phone , not the lack of NFC but the screen resolution , it's not the best and you can learn to adapt to it but here and there the scaling is just bad. Especially for others like my self coming from old flagships with a higher resolution (had an S8 and 720p is quite the downgrade from 1440p).
fortunately enough in developer options there is the option to change how the phone scale by changing the smallest width , mine is set at 480 dp and I like the phone way more than the day I got it ,
share your experience regarding the best settings for the screen scaling !
sounds good, how to do it?

You can use settings -> display -> GUI size (or interface size, not sure about English term). Values used by system are 320, 360 and 423dp.

480 works fine, my bigger turn off is the pixels you can view on the screen, you can note it when you see brighter shades on screen. add to that I'm using a matte screen protector ...and I feel this screen guard only enhances the pixel problem.

Similar to this or a shine effect only around camera or tens of other styles can be used to indicate an event such as charging, music playing or a notification to help you to know even who texted you just by a glance far from your phone.
some of you may know this app before and some may had struggled with it in its bad moment with a broken version but it did not stop improving and all got fixed and many more feature added.
Because this app has tons of options to customize your phone, even wallpapers, I will start by writing instructions for how to enable the basic options of the feature which this thread is about:
How To:
1- Search google play "AOE" or "Always On Edge" and install this ~6MB App
2- Enter section #1 "Main Settings"
choose if you want the LED effect to be shown within System Ambient Display or a separated screen
3- enable accessibility services and give required permissions
4- Go back and enter section #2 "App settings"
for when to light choose "when a notification comes" and/or charging lighting as you like
5- scroll to bottom and save.
6- Enter enabled apps section and make sure the app you will test with is enabled
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.used.aoe
Please give the app some time only once and then you will not need to even open it:
After testing please discover all sections the app can do what ever you need for such feature
like at the same place of step 4 you can enable Mixer which show all current notifications colors
and Reminder which repeat lighting every X seconds and let other options you may like.
in lighting settings section you can customize the general style of lighting.
the app is indeed complicated due to variety of options and I'm always working on improving it.
Battery Drain:
I use it personally for notifications only, all apps, while screen is on and off, reminder for 5 seconds every 5 seconds limited to 30 repeat and I got 100s of emails and messages and the app is not even on system battery use list. but in general this app can be used with no noticeable difference in battery usage and it can drain your battery in few hours. it depends on the options you choose, there are a lot of options to minimize battery consuming it basically depends on lighting time and enabled widgets.
in worst cases there is options to prevent the app from working if device is not charging and other 10s of options so you can set when the app should not light as when the app should light.
App brief description:
AOE contain a lot of features and options and all can be customized as you like, here is some of the main features:
Edge lighting can also be customized for charging, music, wallpaper and many other events
It can be customized to work in a highly flexible way with AOD clock or independently, or even both like Tap to Light feature.
Lighting can be around all screen or around front camera or both with many other lighting place options like LED style with variety of animations.
You can use it to show lighting effects for many events like notifications including missed calls of course, charging, fully charged, screen lock, screen unlock, headset plugged, listening to music ,
ongoing or outgoing calls, recent apps menu and flash after unlock.
You can customize lighting color, style, effect and place for each event, each app, each contact name or even each chat group.
Notifications light has more useful additional features like Reminder which the lighting will be repeated every period you choose and you can even choose to make a sound alert for notification reminder,
and Mixer which will iterate through all current notifications colors..
Brightness can be adjusted regardless of the lighting is independent or with Always On Display, on top of that you can set high brightness for lights and low brighting for AOD/clock widgets.
It has many options to restrict its job like prevent the app from lighting if device is charging, not charging, not in landscape mode, low battery, sleep time or to follow Do Not Disturb mode.
with a block list to prevent it from working for someone
AOE also support lighting in all screen states, turned off or turned on, horizontal or vertical.

Question Refresh rate stuck on 120

Hi,
I have my phone set to high refresh rate and if I enable `Show refresh rate` in developer options I see it is stuck on 120. If I slowly scroll the settings activity I can see it going down to 60-40-30 but as soon as I let it on a stationary screen it's back to 120. It stays on 120 in other applications as well (except the few apps locked to 60 eg youtube, google photos).
I am aware that it is intended to stick to 120 under ~30% brightness but be able to go down as far as to 1 with full brightness
Things I observed/tried:
- when I reboot the device and I am fast enough I can turn on `show refresh rate` which fluctuates between 1-120 as intended only to stick to 120 in a few seconds
- I had it work normally before but I don't know what caused it, I could not get it back since reboot (I tried rebooting many times)
- if I reboot to safe mode it works in the 1-120 region normally while in the settings app, but once I leave it sticks to 120, even going back to settings it remains at 120
- the problem persists if I set up another user on the device (via multi-user)
listed every settings with refresh in it's name
min_refresh_rate=0
peak_refresh_rate=120.0
power_save_pre_refresh_state=3
power_save_screen_refresh_rate=1
oplus_customize_screen_refresh_rate=3
I think these are normal.
Do you know how I could get variable refresh rate back? Or is this the normal behaviour?

- if I reboot to safe mode it works in the 1-120 region normally while in the settings app, but once I leave it sticks to 120, even going back to settings it remains at 120
- the problem persists if I set up another user on the device (via multi-user)
listed every settings with refresh in it's name
min_refresh_rate=0
peak_refresh_rate=120.0
power_save_pre_refresh_state=3
power_save_screen_refresh_rate=1
oplus_customize_screen_refresh_rate=3
I think these are normal.
Do you know how I could get variable refresh rate back? Or is this the normal behaviour?

what you can try is to reset all settings (unfortunately you have to set them all again)

this one did the trick thanks for the suggestion!
And I just found it: enabling 'Disable permission monitoring' in Dev options causes this behavior. disabling it stops the thing.
