Notification Sound - Moto G 5G Plus Questions & Answers

My Moto g 5G plus , running Android 11, gives the notification sound (but not a message) just after I make a change to an entry in Contacts. It may do it elsewhere after writing to disk, but I haven't noticed that - I noticed in Contacts because I was using it a lot recently. It's quite annoying and I want to stop it - but despite a long search and a few changes under notifications I can't find how to block it. I didn't notice it until recently so It may have resulted from an update - otherwise I might have inadvertently changed something.
Any ideas what is is and how to be rid of it, please?
Regards,
Bob

Push Notifications

Hello
I have massive problems with push Gmail messages or Whatsapp . These come only if I make the display on .
These issues are also discussed in OnePlus forum .
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/push-notification-issues.451149/
You have this problem or not there solutions ?
Yup, I have the same problem and trust me, thousands of other people seem to have them as well even on other phones. What I found out so far is that it's a feature of Doze in Marshmallow that's supposed to save battery.
People on here and OnePlus forums have recommended to me to either set notification priority of apps you have problems with to TREAT AS PRIORITY in App Notifications in Settings.
Other thing that was recommended was going into battery, select BATTERY OPTIMIZATION from the drop down menu, select ALL APPS and disable battery optimization for apps you want to get notifications from instantly when get pushed to you.
Now, that's all nice and dandy but, for me at least, neither of these options work. And a lot of apps are impacted, not just Gmail/Inbox/WhatsApp/Twitter/Flashscore etc...
Any insights and fixes would be appreciated because it's really annoying. I get emails from work that are sometimes quite urgent and if my phone is in "Doze Mode", I don't get notified which kinda destroys the whole purpose of push notifications in the first place.
Exactly the same problem here as described above by Donjuan89, tried the same solutions, even installed the PNF app but that also does not work.
This is very annoying to say the least, plus other bugs like no ringtone, the memory issue, the fact that Dashcharge is closed source, sources released but no stock recovery, the phone is quite a disappointment.
It shows that they didn't even do basic testing.
Seems not being a OnePlus problem...same issues on my Galaxy S6 edge...
disable dozemode then test greenify https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.oasisfeng.greenify&hl=de
Try "Push Notification Fixer" root app from PlayStore.
I had the same issue, only with GMail (WhatsApp has been fixed in the meantime I think).
I am on Oxygen 3.2.4, I set Gmail notifications "TREAT AS PRIORITY", it seems working!
Does it work for you on latest OS release?

Can't turn off vibrate for notifications

I am a Textra user. I always have my S9 set to sound only (I never use the other two settings- vibrate only or vibrate with sound). Starting yesterday, every time I receive a new message, my phone will vibrate and also make sound when receiving a text. No settings changes were made in either Textra or the phone.
As a test, I switched to the default messaging app and I would still get both the sound and vibration. I went in to settings of the default messaging app and turned off vibration and that fixed it. Although, that shouldn't have been necessary. In the past I was able to turn on sound only by just choosing the S9's sound only choice (I'm pretty sure).
Coincidentally (or maybe not?) yesterday I performed an update on Textra. Maybe it's a bug? That wouldn't explain why I couldn't control sound only, vibrate only, and both together through the phone's setting, though.
Any ideas of how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks.
It seems to be a phone issue. I just got a message on Hangouts and it made a sound and vibrated. I checked and Hangouts is set to not vibrate.
I contacted Textra. Apparently all apps had to comply with a new Google initiative, which explains why I'm having the issue with multiple apps. Here was there response:
As part of a greater Google initiative to ensure all apps are compiled against a later version of Android (API 26) from 1 Nov 2018, all apps must comply.
For Textra users, this means the following features had to be removed in order to comply:
1) Notification Icons can only be white (unless you are running Android KitKat or below)
2) Notification vibration is either on or off (with a pattern) and can no longer be set independantly of your phones sound settings (as was the case in v3.50 of Textra).
3) The Android System APIs must be used for MMS, you can no longer do your own MMS protocol due to certain APIs no longer being available. This means the WiFi fix feature is also gone in Textra.
Please understand these are not features we wanted to remove (why would we?), but we had no choice.
For more details see https://developer.android.com/distribute/best-practices/develop/target-sdk
Still not happy? Please don't give a poor review, as we have no control over this, and leaving a poor review only hurts us. Even if you are angry at Google, don't shoot the messenger!
You can always downgrade to v3.50 (the last version of Textra without these Google changes) but remember you'll never get another update again or any bug fixes. Understood?
1) Uninstall Textra
2) Install http://adhoc.textra.me/Textra-35090.apk
3) Turn off auto-updates for Textra in Google Play

Text messages / notifications not coming through

Hi!
First of all, I'm new to this phone - I owned it for about 2 weeks. and I'm very happy with it. Nonetheless I have noticed an issue that I hope someone can help me out with:
Since the phone doesn't have the notification LED, I have tried out a couple of apps to facilitate this function. I ended up uninstalling them. Now I experience that some notifications are not coming through (so far I've noticed text messages). I'm trying to figure out whether this is an issue with the phone, or if it might have something to do with the notification apps that I tested? I configured the apps and settings/permissions as necessary to get them to work, but I never reset those same settings before I uninstalled.
The issue I am facing is e.g. if a text message is sent to my phone (with display not on), the text and/or notification randomly doesn't get through until I wake the phone. After waking it, the message comes through immediately. Could this have something to do with testing those notification apps? If so, is there any way to find the specific settings and reset them or am I facing a factory reset to get it to work properly again?
Any help or hint is appreciated

Issues with Android 10 (V11.0.15)

Hey.
I wanted to ask users of this phone, does they have the same issues i found, and if they found some more issues - write about these here.
Signal strengh
So first issue is signal strengh. it was first thing i noticed after update from Pie to 10. I get one bar less on every network (2G/3G/4G) - is this normal - does anyone experienced it?
Settings suggestions pinned
Settings suggestions are wel known issue of Android 10, even in pixel's. There is one way to disable it ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a3/how-to/guide-remove-customize-mi-a3-suggestion-t4092703 ) but sometime after some of them will re-appear.
No AMOLED theme
Am i the only one, whos having that blue-ish dark theme? Is there any mention of standard AMOLED (pure black) theme? Any rootles way?
Notifications on lockscreen dont appear
THATS MOST FRUSTRATING ISSUE i found. When phone is fresh, notifications appear for ~week, then they simply dont. I tried many things like wipe, turning them off, then on, and it helps for one day or 2. Is there any fix? Does it have something to do with battery saving? I'm not using Allways On Display BTW. Sometimes, some of them appear, sometimes not, thats totaly random.
Some apps gets memory leak
With writing "some apps" i mean one, but its local Polish Bank app, after closing the app, throwing it out of recent apps i constantly getting error, that app (in this example) "enveloBank dont responding" and i have 3 options - information about app, close app, send opinion (which i done). I want to ask, if someone have similar problem with any other app. Issue was not present in Android 9.
Finally, where can i report issues? I know its very stupid question, most of you are propably will say on Mi forum, well i guess thats not proper answer. I was very unpleasingly throwed from Google forums to Mi forums, then from Mi forums to Google forums (i was asking about Android 10 release date).
No need for another thread.

Question Some notifications not showing + Google Assistant issue

Hi There,
I'm running the latest available version of Color OS11 on my OP9Pro in China. So it is the stock OS that came with the device - updated for the latest patch etc.
I have a couple of issues that I'm hoping to get some help with or thoughts on how to fix it.
1. Some apps just don't show any notifications. All notifications are allowed and the apps themselves work fine, but I don't get any notifications at all.
2. Google assistant works, but I can't get 'Hey Google' to work, and in the settings for voice match, it 'not available for this language'. I've looked at other forums and posts on this and followed the instructions and changed the language as suggested but it still doesn't work.
3. The phone automatically switches off 'high performance mode'. After manually turning on this setting, it switches this off automatically at some point. Do you know why that would happen? Is it something that happens when the battery dips under 20%?
Thanks, and apologies if some of this has been covered already, but I wasn't able to find a fix to this.
Cheers,
A

I don't have a ton of great answers, but I can commiserate. I've noticed with the latest OTA though that the notifications have been much better. Used to be that Gmail would never tell me when I have a message until I go into the app which defeats the purpose. Now, it gives me notifications in a timely manner.
Something important is to make sure you minimize battery savings in the settings as I think OxygenOS is too overzealous in killing apps. So, I turned off battery optimization to any app I needed notifications from that were acting up: Gmail and calendar were the main ones. Some apps like Facebook gave notifications anyway, so it's really strange as to what apps weren't working and which were.
I'm not sure about the language thing. As for high performance mode, it's likely a battery saving issue. Oneplus really seems to like to throttle things back to save battery (or hide their abysmal battery performance relative to competitors). But I'm not sure on that one.
Thanks! The high performance toggle is indeed linked with battery levels.
I'm using coloros, not oxygen os as I'm in China. So not sure if coloros is doing the same as OoS, but I have disabled battery optimization for the apps that I want notifications for but don't get it.
Even some notifications in Gmail, outlook are delayed which sometimes defeat the purpose. For example, it game me a reminder at 12:45 for my 12:30 meeting... Haha
A missing update could be the culprit if your Reminder notifications aren't coming through. Make sure the app is up to date, and then try Google Reminders again. Clear the app cache data. Clear the cache data for Google Reminders, and then try using the app again.
Thanks, all those apps are up to date, and I'm running the latest version of coloros available for now. hoping that switching to coloros 12 will fix it.
Stupid question - where do I find google reminders.. didn't seem to see it anywhere
