Question Trouble connecting to a G20 via MTKClient - Nokia G10 / G20 / G21

I'm attempting to unlock the bootloader on a G20 (TA-1343 -- Android 11 RP1A.200720.011, kernel 4.19.127-ga29357d-dirty, build 00WW_1_180_SP03) using the Re Live DVD V3 that contains MTKClient, but no combination of button pressing and cable inserting is getting it to connect. Holding volume down and nothing else while inserting the USB boots into fastboot, as does pressing volume down+power, and any other combination of presses while inserting the cable boots the phone normally. No combination seems to get it into the mode that MTKClient is looking for.
OEM unlocking is toggled on.
What are my next steps for troubleshooting the connection? Is MTKClient still the state-of-the-art for unlocking the bootloader on a G20 (TA-1343), or should I pursue another method?

i had to dismantle and short the test point. now i cant get it to turn on and it only boots into DA mode no display

Don't try to unlock bootloader if it fails you will need to flash the device. It failed on my Nokia G20 Android 12 and I had to take it to Nokia Care.
My phone's hardware version is TA-1365.

I was able to unlock the bootloader Nokia G20 ta1343. With mtk client simply by connecting it to mtk client and clicking the unlock on the GUI.
I failed The magisk flash after I unlock the bootloader I updated from security patch August 22 to October 2022.
I don't know if that had anything to do with it but after the security update and I tried to root and I believe I used the wrong boot image.
I've got bootloader unlock though. you have to unlock it from the boot ROM mode and you may have to have a older security update.

Now I'm looking for a stock ROM so I can flash the whole thing because I think I corrupted the preloader because I can only get it to go into boot ROM mode and I can't get the device to power on or charge.
But if I connect it to a PC, I can connect it to mtk client and everything seems intact: the GPT and all partitions are there and I have full backup but I don't know about the preloader I'm a little lost there and I think that's where I messed up.

Most probably you have downgraded the device. Please take it to Nokia Care. They can fix it using HMD Device Kit Software.
They flash the phone in fastboot mode but if the phone is bricked they have specialised tools to fix the phone. They short test points or may have some hidden mode to flash the device but they can probably fix it.

Mi Max 3/32 hardbricked after installing MIUI 7.5.11 from xiaomi.eu

I have flashed the newest MIUI developer from here from TWRP 3.1 and after I selected reboot -> system
After that my phone turned off and now I can't turn it on. My Mi Max can't go neither recovery mode nor fastboot nor EDL. It became hardbrick. No reaction after connecting to PC with any possible combination of pressed keys.
What's wrong with my Max? Can I bring my phone to life?
I hade something similar with my redmi note 3. (IF I remember correctly, only hade a blinkning red light). Check Guides for redmi note 3, its a more popular device. maybe some of this will help you: https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-3/help/hard-bricked-redmi-note-3-sd-t3360457
or google, might be info on another site, like miui.com
@Arti42000
Probably you need to remove the remains from the old Recovery (Stock).
http://i.imgur.com/cNeA1Lq.jpg
You are going to have to open your phone up.
First download and install the Mi Flash Tool. Install it.
Second download the latest STABLE Miui fastboot rom.
http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
Untar the tarball somewhere.
Start the MiFlash tool and select the folder you untared

Open your Mi Max
http://www.ihowfix.com/xiaomi-mi-max-teardown/
Plug a good usb cable into your PC, then the other end part way but not fully into your Mi Max.
Find the two test points I circled in red in the picture, use a wire to short them. While you are doing that, have your computer ready.
Now, plug the usb cord all the way in and start clicking refresh in MiFlash
Your Mi Max should show up as id 2 device 09234f or whatever.
http://i.imgur.com/aC5S7Pt.png
Flash, and wait for the process to finish.
If your Mi Max doesn't show up, just unplug the usb cord, make sure you have those two points connected well, and replug. It's the hardest part and it can be difficult to do right.
@chriscarver
You are not allowed to unlock it officially ?
On the official forum is a form of treatment to the manufacturer to unlock the bootloader.
And what is the point in the wire, which until which the end not is inserted into, in the charging connector ?
The wire must be inserted with great speed or you'll perform the function of phase (+) current ?

It is so chaotic as the success of his operation.
No.
He hard bricked his phone during a flash.
He already has an unlocked bootloader. He is unable to get to recovery or fastboot.
In order to fix it he will have to follow the procedure I gave.

Not the fact that its bootloader is unlocked.
Recovery can be installed with locked bootloader.
The remains of the old recovery to do errors .
You must delete them manually.

Maybe this moment was worded differently and I'm trying to understand.
For example, it may be the need in "Hard Reset" the device.

I sorted mine with testpoint method.
Device need not be having unlocked bootloader to have custom recovery and rom.
OP will have to short points on motherboard to boot it into edl mode and then flash it. There is a thread for unbricking hard bricked mi max. Its explained there as well.

[REQUEST] TWRP or any recovery for Nokia 5.1 plus (global) or X5

I have seen a lot of forums about TWRP for 5.1 plus or X5 and they provide links from where to download those recovery files but I am unable to download any due to links being dead. If anyone has one of those files please post here. Please!
No one has it because no one can unlock bootloader and develop TWRP . That's why the links are dead.

Did you have to pay money to unlock your bootloader?
That said, have you noticed that it seems the Nokia 5.1plus doesn't have a recovery? Updates are installed while the phone is running as opposed to the traditional way of installation in recovery
No, i didn't pay to unlock.
Also, about recovery. It does have one but its somewhat useless (right about now).

I have sold my Nokia 5.1 plus and now i own a OnePlus 3t so I can't show you a proof. Also about my method;
There was a bug in initial oreo that allowed the Oem Unlock switch to be switched in the debug menu and then after initial pie update (yeah i had that phone for that long) you could unlock that phone like a standard pixel {go to fastboot/bootloader mode and type "fastboot oem unlock" in terminal of your connected PC (you need proper drivers and adb installed in your pc)} sadly now the oem unlock switch can't be switched

You can unlock the bootloader by turning on Dev options then turning it off, then turning it on again and the option won't be greyed out. Then you can turn it on.

We can easily go to bootloader by connect the charger to the type c charging port and power off the phone.
Step 2 - Press volume UP and Power button at same time and hold until the Android one logo comes out.
(Android bot with no command pops out )
Step 3- press volume down to confirm.
(Applause , you get into boot loader . )
You can use time procedure with volume Down button for fastboot mode.

Hey guys, maybe this page didn't exist before, but it looks pretty possible now to unlock the bootloader through Nokia's website.
I tried it until nearly the end of the procedure but I stopped just at the last warning I'd void my warranty because:
my phone just comes back from warranty (USB connector problem) and I don't want to miss the opportunity to resend it in cas it breaks again
I'd like to try and install LineageOS as per https://www.getdroidtips.com/lineage-os-17-1-nokia-5-1-plus/ but it seems the instructions on this webpage are not applicable since I don't seem to find a working TWRP for my fully patched 5.1 Plus. However, when I'm assured LineageOS is possible without breaking any important features (this is my main phone), I'll consider it's worth it - farewell Evenwell bloat and task-killers! - and gladly take the plunge.
Lineage os 17
Is there any developer intrested in building Lineage os 17.1 or 18 for nokia 5.1 plus ?this mobile has decent specs and is treble supported .It will be very helpful for Nokia 5.1 plus users.
bootloader cannot be unlocked officialy - the link in nokia website is for nokia 8 only.
TWRP is available.
There is unofficial method of unlocking bootloader ($7) pricing because the software that is used to unlock needs credits which is bought by the developer who unlocks the bootloader, if there is any free method , he will update it.

Damn! I should have waited for this. Too late. I used unlock tool. Now Asus has my unlock info.
One question. Can I relock if I originally unlocked using asus unlock apk tool???
to confirm.......
i have a factory locked, untouched WW 512 unit. If i use this tool, i can unlock WITHOUT Asus knowing? no downsides?
@johnny886,
Thank for this, I waited for something like this, wanted to unlock the bootloader without using that app that gives IMEI to asus, a total offline boot-loader unlock.
although i stuck in step 3 ".update_image_EDL.bat”, dos prompt instantly closes. It may be a driver issue, as im not familiar with drivers for this phone, can you upload the drivers, only thing missing in this pack.

There are no disadvantages, the only benefit is that you can unlock your phone through EDL mode, no need to install UnlockTool.apk to apply for unlock! The ASUS server will not get your unlocked status, you can get upgrades via OTA later.

How about Burnt Fuses? Does something like this occur? Basically, i want to ensure that the fact that ive unlocked is hidden for warrenty. (I can always re-lock before sending back if i need to)
It would suck for them to tell me, that they wont service it because it was previously unlocked.

So I did this and now my headphones jack isn't working. Has this happened to anyone else?
Update: The current workaround is to use the headphone jack of the included cooling fan.
Update 2: So it may have something to do with the bootloader that was flashed during the EDL unlocking process, which seems to be a generic SD855 bootloader. I came to this conclusion after I noticed that I was being limited to 70% battery charge. I flashed the WW 1910.35 OTA from ASUS' site and the battery now charges to 100%, but the headphone jack still remains broken. I will try to flash the WW 1910.44 update through fastboot when I get home, which I'm hoping will have whatever partition that was overwritten during the unlocking process.
Update 3: I figured it out. After using "fastboot flash boot TWRP.img" to boot into TWRP initially, I didn't flash the stock boot image again. This broke the headphone jack. So after booting into TWRP using that command, I had to flash the stock boot image first, then flash the TWRP and Magisk installers in that order. Hope this helps someone.

Try another port or usb cable. Might sound easy/stupid, but for me that's what gets MSM tool to recognise my device.
Msm is your solution, so keep trying cables and ports/machines until you get it working. And make sure you're actually pressing the right buttons and plugging in the cable in the right order. Msm will work. Worst case you can MSM back to stock original ROM and start anew.
Key is button hold combo: phone must be off (hold vol+ and power until shuts off). Only then hold vol- and vol+ TOGETHER while plugin USBC with msm software running already. When u here the recognized tone, then click start on msm

is it possible to flash twrp with locked bootloader and restore it?
or is the only way to get a remote support?
