New GCAM based in 8.4.600 - Redmi K20 / Xiaomi Mi 9T Themes, Apps, and Mods

I see that MGC_8.4.600_A10_V13 (BSG, 2022-06-24) is considered "stable" now.
Has anyone tried it?
I'm currently using MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV2a (because MGC_8.1.101_A9_GV2b doesn't work on my phone)
But it would be nice to see if 8.4 improves much over 8.1

Looking for FAST and STABLE rom (Defy+)

Currently I use MIUI (1.11.11), but it has a few bugs like WLAN is not reconnecting. The speed isn't that good, but MIUI looks better than most roms
I'm looking for a stable and fast ROM.
Perfect would be:
-Android 2.3 or higher
-NO big bugs
-720p recording enabled
-support for the bigger Defy+ battery
Any suggestions?
CM7 last stable?? Allredy stesting battery on it. No major bugs, stable and really fast, faster than MS2Gibger and stock 2.3.4. I had only one FC from yesterday when I installed it and it was Market when installed 62 apps at the same time.
Sent from Defy+ CM7 (7.1.0-11)
CM7 is fast and stable. But does it support HD video capture? I have installed MS2ginger2.1. Supports many languages. It is fast enough I think and supports HD video capture. Moreover, the battery life is amazing. There are some posts about it...
Looks like CM7 is gonna get installed. 720p is not that important (just nice to have).
Does it support the bigger battery or does it get stuck at 83%~ and won't charge anymore? MIUI (whis is based on CM) has this bug.
720p maybe gonna be supported in next CM7's and You need to patch battery support but didn't tried it yet. I'm using 1500 from old Defy cause I didn't format 1700 yet and still testing this build and it's still connected to pc.
Hey !
I'm also looking for a smooth & stable rom.
I don't need the last features.
Currently, I'm using CM-10-20131030-NIGHTLY. Which doesn't crash and so, but it's not smooth.
I didn't install any widget, and I got battery drains.
Any recommendation ?

Hi,
the OmniROM 4.4.2-20140202 is very smooth and stable.
Links are in the development thread.
Hi !
It's still under development it's it ? I'm a bit afraid of something that has not been tested and validated for a while.
I don't need the last version of Android. I just want something smooth and stable.
The last Android 4.4.2 (kitkat) is the fastest Android version for the Defy.
That's why I also recommend the OmniROM version and not the CM11 version. OmniROM runs with me stable and very fast for 1 month. If you want to take it try not the latest version take the 20140202 version.

Thanks for your suggestion.
As my phone (Nexus 5) will soon be back from repair, it didn't take the time to reinstall my phone.
But if I need to reinstall my defy, I will follow your advice.
CM7 not faster than CM11?
What about White Rabbit 1.7.1 or Maniac?

Been using this rom since yesterday, so far so good
UI seems a *little* bit laggy sometimes compared to the stock 2.3.6 GB rom, but so much more functionality in Omni.
What about battery life with Omni? Better than stock rom?

Highly recommend SlimKat, anny build you like. I'm running two defy+ on it, one on 3.85 build, other on latest 4,both very stable, didn't notice anny bug,no random reboots, no lag, memory & bat. friendly, amazing look... thanks to TJKV and all contributors on this GREAT ROM.:good: Just try it!
Im using slimkat too its really good except the camera doesnt work for me when i use it my phone reboots :/
I'm on SlimKat build 4.0 since release and it's a great rom. Battery life is reliable and it's fast and stable. The camera works fine (720p etc).
Theres only issue with reboot to recovery, which can be easly fixed by replacing one apk (click).
And sometimes battery percentage is stuck at 99-100% (click).
My settings: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52086816&postcount=19
There was a great 3.6 build which was almost bugfree for me (at least it didn't need any fixes).
so am i the only one with the camera problem on slimkat?
Have no issues with camera (did you set up Video Encoder to MPEG4?), just one or two reeboots in to recovery since i'm using SlimKat, but there is an easy fix like Stoku wrote. Yes, that little bug about battery percentage...
All in all - feel like my beloved Defy is reborn, fresh, fast, stable...feel like i have 3/4 of new phone:victory:
Again, thanks a lot to TJKV, thanks to all of you kind and good people for spending your time and sharing your knowledge with all of us! THANKS!:good:

After a while of using this (Omnirom), the only slightly annoying bug I encountered was that the camera would stop working (regardless using the stock camera app or another one), after having taken lots of photos.
A simple reboot and the camera would work again

So it's very like stock rom, my green lens defy always did that.
I'm now on CM11 and camera is (at least) as stable as stock, haven't had the camera stopped working..
Good to know.
I have a green lens too.
Now running the latest homemade Omnirom build (omni-4.4.2-20140518-mb526-HOMEMADE.zip) from Struq's google drive.
I shall see if the same bug occurs.

Which Rom to go for, Tab Pro8.4 ?

Hi,
There's a multitude of roms available for the tab pro8.4.
As someone who's not particularly tech minded which would be the best to go for to give my tablet a new lease of life with the minimum of bugs ?
Cheers
I would suggest CM 12.1. It was Lollipop, but still batter than stock (Kit-kat). It has stable releases (CM is down, but you should still be able to find a download somewhere on the Internet). There are newer LOS builds, but that's only nightly builds, and the ones I tried are not very stable.
I've tried 2 roms,vu-vu-2.0 and slim6 and both have failed to install because of signature verification failure.
What am I doing wrong ?
I am using the Resurrection remix, by rnwalker. Version Nougat 7.1.2_r2 - N2G47E, from 24th April. It is running smooth without crashes or bugs, but I don't have Gapps installed.

I'm assuming the camera doesn't work as per all Nougat roms ?
I managed to instal Slim6 in the end,it's pretty good and very stable, better than stock battery life
I've been enjoying Slim6. Great battery life, and has been pretty stable for me:
https://slimroms.org/#/device/mondrianwifi
i am also running slim 6 . pretty stable and bugless
I'm have the odd issue with charging. I'm using a fast charger that came with my phone,2 amp I think.
Obviously it only works as a standard slow charger with the tab pro but it never reaches 100% unless I switch it off briefly
Yesterday I installed AICP 6.0.1 unofficial from August last year (after cfautoroot & latest twrp 3.1.1 for the 8.4). Was going back and forth between latest nougat cm and this one, really like some of aicp features and have different levels of it running on other devices.
Seems to run fine except for 3d rendering in a game I play, Star Trek Timelines. That game ran fine on the old original kitkat but is very choppy on this rom. Turning on forced 4x msaa in opengl es 2.0 apps dev option seemed to help a little. Anything else I should try?
Thanks!
Switched to latest Nougat Resurrection Remix (5.8.3) for the Tab Pro 8.4, running great! All options that AICP has, and then some. Enjoying some extended life for the Tab Pro.
Still having 3D stutters in ST Timelines, though.
I went with Slim6 and have been using it for a few months.I found it quite laggy so have just switched to the latest Lineage nightly and it's like chalk and cheese.
Can't comment on it's stability but it's so much more responsive,it's given my tab a new leese of life, thanks
I've switched from Slim 6 to Lineage 13 and what a difference.
Slim used to lag and stutter but Lineage is in a different league. The camera is rubbish mind so I've installed Open camera.......focussing appears to be an issue but as I rarely use the camera I'm not bothered.
Good work on the O/S though

Best "current" ROM for an old Fire HD 8.9" rev.2?

Hi All,
I've been away for a while but have just resurrected an old 2nd Gen Fire HD 8.9" and with help from here have it running:
CM13 Unofficial ver. V10.9 ROM (Temasek) on Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 MOB30Z Release 6.1 and the latest GApps
I researched a lot of the posts on here before settling on this setup. I was just wondering is there a more recent ROM that I may have missed, that works satisfactorily on this older hardware.
Thanks in anticipation, Phil
I've tried a few and temaseks I'd the best. It also all works right once you learn the tricks and settings. Live display should be set to night. The tablet doesn't support ambient display. So if you have live display set to anything else, the screen will eventually start to scramble. I couldn't get the lineage build to work or crdroid. Found a work around that didn't make anything better. I'll try again sometime. Maybe it was something I did.
I ran the CM13 build for a week and it worked fine. I then tried out the crDroid build, since it was on a newer Android version. crDroid is working great for me. It seems to be more compatible with the latest app versions. Standby battery life is way better than stock. I don’t know if that is a crDroid thing or if it is the same as CM13. It seems better to me on crDroid.

Your feedback about Oreo ROM

Hello ,
Actually my Mi5S is working great on MIUI 9.5 global stable ROM. Nevertheless, I don't really like MIUI design and I'd like to change to a Oreo (Stock) ROM like Lineage OS 15.1 or AOSP extended but I need some feedback about them (like Battery, bugs, Performance, Stability etc...) because feedback on topics aren't really complete. You also could share other Oreo ROM which are stable enough. Don't forget to specify which version of the ROM you have.
Thanks a lot and I hope this thread will help others!
Install RessurectionRemix ROM (or PixelExperience - slightly faster IMO) and you don't have to wory about nothing
AEX seems to work best with my phone. Faster than LOS and PixelExp, superior and consistent battery life (6h of SOT with ForceDoze installed) and no noteworthy bugs. Considering stablity and extra functions there are very few bad choices as most ROMs for this device are pretty good. Just be sure to install the right hardware-firmware and follow installation instructions carefully.
If you're moving from MIUI the battery is the thing that will probably will get worse results. Performance and features are better with the custom ROMs. Also installing a modded GCam (ported Pixel image processing for really good quality) is a must.
[sorry X2 post, didn't find how to delete it]
Okey guys thanks for your reply. Are you using a custom kernel ?
@Djeloan Pixel Experience seems to not be updated anymore... No more support ?
@8166uy I reckon I will install AEX if it's enough stable for daily use. By the way, you recommend to install a modded Cam. Is it because pre-installed cam on Custom ROM doesn't work as well as stock Cam on MIUI ?
I'm not a big fan of custom kernels as you don't profit THAT much with it, but does give extra problems every few weeks. And yes the modded camera is partly because the stock camera from the ROMs aren't all that good, but also because with it you can make it as good as modern flagships from the big western brands. So expect better sharpness, better dynamic range, better low-light performance and a properly working portrait background blurring effect.
For the best results take the GCam from B-S-G or Arnova for pictures (there are threads plenty about them here) and OpenCamera for videos (can be found here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera).
Download link for all versions of the modded GCam are btw here if you feel adventurous. Some are more stable than others:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
I use this one because of stability and device specific tweaks:
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/...018.177470874.41362666__A7.0-8.1_MI5S_v2e.apk
Great ? thanks for sharing that ^^
I've heard that Arnova's GCam works significantly better on Oreo than BSG's.
For me the Arnova ones just keeps crashing with low light no matter which version I pick, so I would just try both and see which one fits best. I personally never had any problems with B-S-G builds on Oreo.
i avoid messing with kernal's unless its a hobby you enjoy. it can get time consuming later on

Best Google Camera Port for Stock 7.1.1?

Hello!
I'm sill using my Robin as my daily driver and love the device. After much trial and error I have a version of the Google Camera working on stock 7.1.1 (found here, ARM version: https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/themes-apps/apk-google-camera-4-2-022-135443920-t3482107), but feel like this version is missing some features of the later camera versions. For example, this version makes no mention of HDR+, and does struggle a bit with bright backlights, even though overall it is much better than the stock Nextbit camera app.
Is anyone using a newer version that would like to share the APK they are using with STOCK 7.1.1.?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Bleser,
Did you ever find a newer one that works with stock 7.1.1 on the Robin?
I, too, am on the stock 7.1.1 and tried several version from the link here and they didn't work either =(
https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/
Cassie
Nope, I'm still using the one in my post above and it has proved to be stable and provide great results.
