LineageOS img.xz file and TWRP? - LineageOS Questions & Answers

Hello guys. So, i want to install an unofficial lineage os to my Xiaomi redmi 6 (cereus). But th problem is the custom rom file format is img.xz and it's not detected by the TWRP recovery. I've tried to extract the img.xz into a img file. And it actually detected with the TWRP, so i tried to install it and locate the rom to System Image. It's tecnically got the rom image installed succesfully, but when i tried to boot it up, it's just got to the xiaomi logo and then it's just restarted repeatedly to the xiaomi logo again and again. So at this point, I don't know what can i do?
Note : Gapps and magisk installed without any issues because they're zip files. So i don't think the problem is in the magisk or Gapps.
Device : Xiaomi Redmi 6 ( Cereus )
TWRP Version : 3.6.2_9.0
Lineage OS ROM : Lineage OS Unofficial cereus (a64 and ab rom ) ( I got it from Andy Yan's Personal Builds SourceForge ).

Its Feb 2023 and I've just done EXACTLY the same thing trying to put lineageOS 20 onto a Galaxy TAB A 8..0 LTE. Hope I find a solution as my device is resting in download mode just to stop it from looping/buzzing.

Failed To Install Magisk to Zenfone 2 ZE500CL with LineageOS 14.1

Hello. This is my first post in this forum, so forgive me if i post this in a wrong category.
I have Zenfone 2 ZE500CL, flashed with LineageOS 14.1 20180127 Nightly Build from this.
I've tried to install the latest Magisk from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445, also the one from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/magisk-14-0-root-universal-zenfone-2-t3669137. None of them working. Both of them prints output that says : "Unable to Detect Boot Image".
I've tried to extract the boot.img from my device build of LineageOS, and then use Magisk Manager to patch the boot image manually, and failed miserably. I've even tried to extract the boot.img to test if it's even readable with Android Kitchen, and sure it is it can't read the file while outputting : "Unsupported Format".
Can anyone help me at this?
same here tried everything i know but still unsupported for our device, i'm using mokee rom for asus zen2 500cl
i found that we need a boot image signature just like the others try to look at this https://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/development/script-boot-recovery-image-signature-t3690522

[resolved] Problem with installing custom ROM [stuck at boot animation]

Edit: Got it working. All I had to do was check both checkboxes on AVB 2.0 and also check both in RM Forceencrypt.
Hi! I recently tried to install a custom ROM (LineageOS, Pixel Experience, CesiumOS), but every time I tried I got stuck at boot animation.
I'm on MIUI 11 V11.0.3.0 PGGEUXM Android 9 (Should I flash V11.0.6.0 PGGMIXM Global? )
What i did:
1.Unlocked bootloader
2.Flashed factory preloader from the Megathread
3.Flashed TWRP (by wzsx150)
4.Formated Data (in TWRP) and then Dalvik, Cache and System
5.Transferred ROM and vendor.img (and Magisk 20.4) to /sdcard/ (I got vendor.img from CesiumOS thread)
6.Flashed vendor.img
7.Flashed ROM (LineageOS, Pixel Experience, CesiumOS) (and Magisk)
8.Cleared Dalvik
9.Closed AVB 2.0 (first checkbox)
10.Rebooted to system
11.Got stuck at boot animation
12.Went back to stock ROM (11.0.3.0 PGGEUXM )
13.Went to step 2 and tried another ROM
Every time I flash an official ROM I need to flash lk and preloader from the Megathread and when I deleted lk and preloader.bin from the official ROM MiFlash instantly said failure
I'd also like to add that this is the first phone that I rooted and tried a custom ROM on
I got my ROMs from here:
LineageOS - https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8-pro/development/rom-lineageos-17-1-t4072137
CesiumOS - https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8-pro/development/rom-cesiumos-v2-5-1-t4059543
Pixel Experience - https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-8-pro/development/rom-pixel-experience-t4059977
MIUI 11 V11.0.3.0 PGGEUXM - https://c.mi.com/oc/miuidownload/detail?device=1900375
And TWRP from here:
TWRP - https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...overy-twrp-recovery-redmi-note-8-pro-t4033695

Stuck installing ROM on Mi A2 Lite (daisy) - ERROR 1, ERROR 7

Hi,
I am "building" (first had to fix the LCD etc.) a de-googled DAISY. I managed to unlock the bootloader, install TWRP, and root the original OS (Android One 10).
The problems started when I tried to install a custom ROM (at first Havoc, but other gave the same results). Just as instructed (YT, other pages, here...) I:
- formatted via TWRP
- REBOOT to TWRP
- wipe all except SD
- install ROM from zip
...and at this point I came across an error message
Error applying update: 7 (Error code: : kInstallDeviceOpenError)
Updater process ended with ERROR: 1
Many solutions suggest flashing boot.img from the ROM package, but (WHY?!?) all ROM's ((Havos, crDroid etc.) for daisy have no such file, although other devices have boot.img in their package.
I'm pretty much clueless... :/
Help, and thanks in advance...

Error 1 usually means wrong install package or wrong TWRP.
Are you using TWRP by offain?
[SOLVED]
The whole problem was that TWRP was wrong (not even offain as far as I remember). But I got a HUUUUGE amount of help (MANY THANX!!!!) from opal06 (main maintainer for crDroid on daisy) on Telegram channel dedicated to crDroid on daisy.
So If anyone hase similar problems - go to Telegram group - they will help you!
After flashing right (modified) TWRP versions, evrthng went fine, although I got to admit it was pretty complicated for [unlock + TWRP + custom rom + root] combo. On lavender it was much easier
cya all, good luck!

There is no TWRP for LISA, don't confuse the files for RENOIR
For this phone, the recovery LOS only works at 100x100:https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gYAVTitz5uSP5_MO4KkXdYOvPmIvC2oJ/view?usp=sharing

So far, I've not been able to make a full backup with any of the available recoveries for lisa because the data partition can't be mounted. Has anyone had luck with this?

I had this problem (did not see the internal memory)
Try the following:
Install any SD card and boot into TWRP.
Then the phone will see both the SD card and internal memory.

Do you mean to say that twrp_lisa will see then Internal memory (/sdcard)?
Would it also ask for Android unlock pin/pass while booting to TWRP (to be able to decrypt Internal memory)?
Also, how do you permanently install this TWRP:
- fastboot flash recovery twrp_lisa.img
Or
- fastboot boot twrp_lisa.img
and then by flashing twrp_lisa.img to Recovery from inside the TWRP?
Ok, so I tested twrp_lisa img by temporarily booting (fastboot boot)
It asks for Android unlock pin/pass, it successfully decrypts /data but it does not show anything from Internal memory
I put external SD card and it used successfully (but it didn't help for Internal memory).
E.g., screenshots fromTW
All the rest seems to work ok
You can permanently install by following the instructions for similar A/B A11/12 devices with recovery-in-boot, like
TWRP.me, Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G (Renoir), official instructions for permanent flashing:
Xiaomi Mi 11 lite 5G

twrp.me
That is, boot temporarily to TWRP, go to Advanced and use:
- Flash current TWRP
or
- Install recovery ramdisk
My Lisa is already rooted - boot.img patched by Magisk and flashed to boot from TWRP
I wanted to see if it was possible to keep Magisk but also to install TWRP permanently
Then I temporarily booted to TWRP (fastboot boot twrp_lisa.img) and tried:
1) Advanced / Flash current TWRP:
It failed (screenshot) complaining that recovery ramdisk was modified (supposidely due to my patching the boot.img by Magisk)
2) Advanced / Install recovery ramdisk:
It flashed successfully my TWRP img file but noted me (screenshot) that root was now overwritten.
Indeed, when I booted to System, Magisk app was showing no Magisk installed and I had to flash once again my patched boot.img (with Magisk then overwriting the TWRP)
All together, TWRP can be installed permanently but cannot (easily?) have Magisk and TWRP, permanently, in parallel - since both patch the Boot
