You don't need root. You can just flash the RAW file. But you MIGHT not be able to update it because updater won't recognize WW update zip file if you don't change that COUNTRY file.

Hello. Is there a link for the OPEN BL?
i searched google but cant find any links for it from the asus side.
i dont really want to install the ones belonging to the older generation of the ROG Phone.
Thanks

No, you need BL unlock to flash things.
And... "Root is temporary, rom is forever"
So, you can stay without root NOT FOLLOWING the latest'step.

YOU MAY NOT UNLOCK YOUR BL AFTER YOU UNLOCKED IT ONCE AND RELOCK IT! NOT VERIFIED ON ROG 6 SO PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

The link in step one doesn't work.

How to unroot after rooting? Do i need to extract the current boot.img & re flash it to unroot it?

Therazorsedge said:
Hi, I see a lot of threads, so, I open my own.
This is a tutorial of how you can have root permanently AND updates (root+updates) on this beauty.
And also, you can switch to CN (more battery, but less features -> themes, stuff) or WW ROM.
First of all, there's this files you should download on your computer or your beauty:
(A) Log by Google: MOD EDIT: LINK REMOVED, please provide proper credits when sharing others' work
(B) Download OPEN BL from Asus website, the APK to open it.
(C) Root the Asus (Fastboot flash boot on CMD) with a GOOD CABLE (**** cables doesn't work, sorry.) AND with the LATERAL PORT. You need PLATFORM TOOLS AND/OR MINIMAL ADB (GOOGLE IT AS EVERYTHING...) TO RUN...
(D) "Buy" the root explorer APK on play store, don't think for a minute you can find that on Google, or you can find it, I don't know
(E) Install Magisk APK check everything works as ROOT ENVIROMENT SUCCESFULLY INSTALLED.
(F) On ROOT EXPLORER APK press on the ‘ROOT‘ tab to access the root storage of your phone. Navigate to the ‘/Vendor/Factory‘ folder and find the file with the name ‘COUNTRY‘. Tap on the file and open it with the ‘Text Editor‘. put there CN if you want China (capital letters) or, WW if you want global, reset phone.
(G) Go to the big 4GB file you first downloaded and search the FLASH ALL AFT bat, (extract it first); then, put the phone to BL with power+vol. UP until you see in GREEN Start. Put cable on side port, and double click on FLASH ALL. Voila! You have your phone converter and -it can eat updates.
(H) To update it search for updates on Asus; rog 6 firmware on Google.
Troubleshooting
If your phone isn't detected use another cable go to device manager and check for ASUS ADB INTERFACE TO SHOW if not, change cable and/or download ADB drivers on XDA the .exe file.
The magisk image is to root the phone Fastboot flash boot .IMG (put it on CMD window)
Bonus:
To remove HARDWARESTUB download Notifications off root on play store and install it.
(10) The last step of this very good and awesome tutorial; to keep root after update; download the file, put on root directory; let it update DONT DONT DONT reboot; go to Magisk,
a. Select the Install option.
b. Use Install to inactive slot
Reboot, done.

Thank you for the instructions.
My phone's product code has been changed to "WW_AI2201" and could be updated the firmware from ASUS site once. However, after update the product code returned "CN_AI2201". Could you please help me to keep it "WW"?
And also please tell how to change the fingerprint from "CN" to "WW", if you know.

To unroot you can just go into magisk and click uninstall, but then you probably also want to relock your bootloader MAKE SURE YOU FACTORY RESET AND HAVE STOCK ROM BEFORE YOU RELOCK YOUR BOOTLOADER!!!
Code:
fastboot oem lock
#OR
fastboot flashing lock
Then you probably also want to go to settings -> developer mode afterwards and disable -> 'OEM Unlocking'

I can't get root explorer to mount R/W on root to get COUNTRY file changed from CN to WW..
Though I could save the file but device info HW shows my fingerprint is still CN..
unable to perform manual update as fingerprint is still CN..
Had my root checker checked, running latest magisk as well..
Tried multiple root explorer versions & other file manager with root access..
Some file manager showed "file is read-only"
anybody having the same issue? any solution?

I'm having the same issue too.. looks like it wasn't R/W but R/O only in root explorer hence it's the cause you won't permanently change the COUNTRY file..

I bought the version with 12GB Ram and 128GB SSD, and I think that's what happens to mine, because I can´t update it OTG, what steps should I follow? What risk do I run that I already have a root and the seller did, and I don't know by what method he did or what he did to pass it from CN to WW

What is this?
This is a utility to easily root your LG G3 (specific models only). It's a fairly foolproof script that includes all the dependencies you'll need for getting your phone rooted easily.
This is the FULL version. This means that it will automatically root, and ask you if you want TWRP installed and a custom boot that doesn't trip the root checker!
Click to collapse
Who made this?
This root is a collaboration between myself (IOMonster), jcase, and autoprime.
Special thanks also to beaups for some initial guidance looking at the vulnerable application.
Thanks to @Shelnutt2 for the security-disabled boot.img
Thanks to @Dees-Troy for the TWRP image!

Is my phone compatible?
The new LG G3 models each are slightly different with regards to rooting and unlocking.
To see a matrix of which LG G3 phones are compatible with this root, please see this Google Docs spreadsheet that we've compiled.
When you run this program, your phone will reboot and run a test to see if it's compatible. If the application succeeds, it'll let you know that it's able to permaroot you. If not, it'll fail gracefully and reboot you back to normal Android without having changed anything.
Please note that this version is currently only compatible with the T-Mobile D851 version of the LG G3. For other phones, we suggest you look for the LITE version of PurpleDrake.

How do I use this?
WE NOW SUPPORT WINDOWS! YAY ME
To start, for either platform you'll need to scroll down to the download section and get the file.
Ensure that your phone is in ADB mode (PTP Mode for everyone but Verizon. Verizon users need to be in "Internet"/"Ethernet" mode)
Linux Instructions (in a terminal!)
Extract the file you downloaded...
tar xvf ~/Downloads/PurpleDrake-TMO_VERSION.tar.gz
Mark the application as executable, and run it!
cd PurpleDrake-TMO
chmod +x purpledrake_linux.sh
./purpledrake_linux.sh
OSX Instructions (just a bit easier)
Extract the file you downloaded
Double-click on "purpledrake_osx"
Windows Instructions
Extract the file you downloaded
Double-click on "purpledrake_windows"
The application will guide you through all the steps you need.
You will still need to install SuperSU from the market after installing PurpleDrake. This pack does not include one.
If you choose to install the custom boot.img, your phone's root checker will not be tripped and your phone will show as UNROOTED.
After, be sure to check @autoprime's post for how to disable OTA upgrades! here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54254111&postcount=2

But, what if I don't want to run your script to root?
Well then, I'd be a little hurt, but you can still do everything the script does manually.
Download the package, and extract it. Open a terminal in the main folder of the archive and run these commands:
Code:
adb reboot --bnr_recovery
adb push ./assets/start_restore /temp/start_restore
adb push ./assets/permaroot.bin /temp/start_restore
adb reboot
That will perma-root you, however there's no protection from doing something stupid or the phone being incompatible. Please be careful!

FAQ:
Q: I'm running the Windows .bat as administrator and it's closing/not working.
A: There is no need to run the .bat as admin. Just double-click and run.
Q: I get the "Windows cannot find '.\assets\windows\bin\mintty.exe'." error.. watdo?
A: Try just double-clicking on the .bat instead of running as admin.
Also make sure the script is extracted properly first before running.
Q: I [used Flashify and] am stuck in fastboot.. how can I get out?
A: Be cautious using Flashify as it seems it's not working right.. or people are hitting the wrong buttons with it.
HERE are the stock TMO D851 partitions.
Use fastboot to flash recovery(TWRP or stock) and stock boot. This will install TWRP and fix booting into rom.
If on Windows you will need fastboot drivers. Use Google to find fastboot binaries and drivers.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot reboot
The commands to flash TWRP manually instead of using flashify is below.
Place TWRP on the root of your internal /sdcard/ using MTP, downloading it directly to phone or using ADB push.
Code:
adb push name_of_file.img /sdcard/
adb shell
su
dd if=/sdcard/name_of_file.img of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/recovery
Disable OTA:
Open LG Hidden Menu (3845#*851#) --> WLAN Test --> OTA Setting --> OFF
*Replace "851" with your devices model number, 850, 852, 855 etc...
The first D851 update has been released (10M). Bootloader remained unlocked. It would appear future OTAs will be safe to take AS LONG AS YOUR PHONE IS NOT MODIFIED! If you have flashed TWRP or installed xposed or modified /system then you need to restore any changes made or flash stock firmware (tot/kdz) before taking OTA.
If using a non-tmobile g3 I would be hesitant about taking OTA updates. An OTA may update the boot stack to block Bump!
EFS Backup:
Code:
[FONT="Arial Narrow"][B]Backup EFS after jailbreaking your G3. EFS is split into 2 partitions modemst1 and modemst2.
img files will be on root of internal sdcard. Save the .img files somewhere else besides the sdcard... email, cloud, etc..[/B]
DO NOT FLASH OTHER PEOPLES EFS OR FLASH YOUR OWN BACKUPS ONTO ANOTHER PHONE.
THIS WILL BREAK EFS ON THE PHONE YOU ARE FLASHING TO. EFS BACKUPS ARE FOR THE PHONE THEY CAME FROM ONLY.
I have made a new thread on EFS backup and restore which can be found [URL="http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/efs-lg-g3-efs-backup-restore-t2907329"]HERE[/URL].

install the drivers.
put phone into Download Mode (power off. unplug USB. pull battery. put battery back in. press/hold Volume Up then plug in USB cable.)
In Windows Device Manager set the phones serial COM port to #41. (*see picture guide for help)
Install [URL="http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/Setup_LGFlashTool_1.8.6.527.zip"][B]LG Flash[/B][/URL]. In "C:\LG\LG Flash" folder delete megalock dll. Replace with .dll below.
new megalock dll - [url]http://bit.ly/1cQADXm[/url] (this site includes a "download manager.. UNCHECK THE BOX before downloading dll file.)
Run LG Flash in the "C:\LG\LG Flash" folder. Select korean factory if asked.
When LG Flash opens you will see a box to select firmware and dll.
Select [URL="http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G3/LGUP_8974.dll"][B]LG Flash .dll[/B][/URL]
Select (.tot)
Hit OK (*see picture guide for help)
Hit yellow start button. If you get Milkyway error click ok. LG Flash will then run a crc check on the tot file. Takes a bit.
After crc check finishes unplug the phone. plug phone back in. it should now be seen in LG Flash and start flashing.
Phone will reboot when finished. You may end up on a screen with s "2"... let it sit there for a minute or two.
If stuck on "2" try unplugging the usb cable from the phone.. wait 10 seconds.. then plug the usb cable back in. now wait 30 seconds and hopefully it changes to a "3"
Once the phone says "3" you can unplug the USB.. remove the battery and plug back in.. boot back up... you are now 100% stock.

Hoax? What?
This pack is ONLY for the T-Mobile G3 which has an unlocked bootloader out of the box.
D855 support is NOT included in here. There will be a separate thread when we have an unlock for the bootloaders of the rest of the G3 family.

There is no boot loader unlock..where ever you read this is misinformed...the T-Mobile variant ships boot loader unlocked, it is the only one so far to be shipping unlocked.

I'm aware of that and sry it wasn't meant offensive or to put this one down, autoprime, did imply at the bounty thread, that you as well managed to unlock the bootloader, at least at the beginning, that's what I'm referring to, sry that i said it the wrong way, was a bit disappointed, which for sure isn't your fault or the one of this tool, it's still great progress you made.

1. THANK YOU!
2. It didn't work the first time around, temproot worked but permaroot did not. Maybe it had to do with the fact that I was reading this forum while it was waiting for my input... I can't see how that would have made a difference but whatever. [[ Edit: It worked the second time running, I just followed the instructions immediately - no problems. /Edit ]]
3. Just a reminder for Linux users ... you have to add udev rules as described here: http://developer.android.com/tools/device.html ... and when you are done with that, also run:
$ sudo service udev restart; sudo killall -9 adb
4. My G3 would only connect to my laptop (Ubuntu 14.04) when it was in PTP mode. MTP or Charge Only did _NOT_ work... Only PTP.
5. THANK YOU AGAIN! You devs rock!

[GUIDE][BR][LP]Complete guide for unlock bootloader and flash TWRP in H442F DUAL SIM

Hello folks!
It's been a while since last time I spent in this forum section (when the method for flashing Poland MM KDZ was published), but suddenly I decided to check the current development and it was great do discover that developers found a way to unlock bootloader! Then, I tried to do the procedures, found some adversities around the path, flashed stock KDZ for my device A LOT and finally managed to obtain a fully working LP stock with root and TWRP for my model: H442F (Dual SIM) ("LG Volt 4G" in Brazil).
The thing is: although a lot was done regarding the Spirit LTE, I found near zero information specifically for my device variant. Since I tried a lot of paths and eventually achieved an interesting result, I decided to write a full tutorial, with a lot of instructions and pictures for "novices" who desire learn all the steps but gives up at the high learning curve. Finally, I also wrote this tutorial in Brazilian Portuguese, which I believe will help at least some comrades (you can download the PDF in portuguese HERE).
Needed files:
LG Drivers (remove old ones if already instaled)
LG Flash Tool 2014 (credits to @quangnhut123 from this thread)
Brazilian H442F10a Firmware (this is a low speed server, I can upload to a better one if someone asks)
Android SDK Tools (for Windows users; Linux ones just install the package android-tools-adb)
Kingroot (or download here: www.kingroot.net)
Latin America Patched Aboot (credits to @pvineeth97 , for more info check this thread)
TWRP (or download here: https://twrp.me/lg/lgspiritlte.html)
Flashfy (or download here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cgollner.flashify&hl=en)
SuperSU (or download here: http://www.supersu.com/)
Finally, if you prefer, you can download a full pack in this link (except for KDZ), however, I did prefer to keep isolated links for better credits and referrals
Step-by-step
Download all needed files
Install drivers, SDK and unpack Flash Tool
Save all files in the same folder, but keep KDZ file inside Flash Tool folder
Put your phone in download mode (power off, hold vol+, plug usb in pc, keep holding until download icon appears)
Wait a little for Windows completely detects device and load all drivers
Verify in Device Manager if your pc detects phone as "LG Mobile USB Serial Port (COM#)"

Open LG Flash Tool as admin
Select KDZ file
Choose the downloaded H442F10a_03.kdz file
Choose CSE Flash
Click START
Then, "Clear phone software update registry"
You'll see a warning
Then, OK (no need to change country)
Another app will open for the flashing. If you are offline, it is possible to show just a "?" character. Wait patiently...
In about 5min it will finish
After some reboots, you'll see the phone starter screen. Just move forward (no need to configure anything right now, maybe wifi, but not google account)
Enable Developer Options going to Settings/General/Common/Software Information and tap some simes in Build Number until the "You are a developer" message appears
Go back to Settings/Developer Options and turn on USB Debugging
With Debugging on, choose MTP (for Windows) or PTP (Linux), and when asked, allow the computer
Now, make sure you installed (and know how to use, since I will cover just a few commands here) the Android Debugging Bridge (adb). It will be essential for some steps, as well for entering Recovery Mode (I will show some Linux screenshots because I do not use Windows - for this tutorial, just for KDZ flash - but with a working adb the commands are the same)
Open a command prompt (Windows: right click in start menu) or a terminal (Linux) and run "adb devices" to see if the device was detected. If not, run again and check if phone are asking permissions (and grant it)
Go (cd) to the folder with all downloaded files and write the commands (some names may be different if you downloaded individual files from official links)
adb push aboot_5120_patched.bin /sdcard/
adb push twrp-3.2.1.0-cn70n.img /sdcard/
adb push SuperSU-v2.82-201705271722.zip /sdcard/
adb install Flashify_1.9.2.apk
adb install KingrootV5.3.1.apk
At whit point, make sure your internet is fully working (3-4G or WIfi), then, open Kingroot and root the device
After a well successful root, go back to adb and run "adb shell" and then "su". The phone will ask root permission. Grant it and in adb again run "cd /sdcard"
Now we arrived a critical step. Make sure to type the command as is show, because an error may result brick. We will copy the modified aboot into the respective phone partition (check code, check picture, and double check!)
If everything occurs all right, will appear this message
Great! Now you have an unlocked bootloader! What we have to do now is fhash a custom recovery (in this case, TWRP).
Open Flashify, give root rights, then go into Flash/Recovery Image/Choose a file/File explorer/sdcard/[downloaded file]. When asked to flash click "YUP!" and then "Flash More" (as we do not want the phone to reboot right now)
An extra step I prefer to do is remove Kingroot, since it installs a lot of services and keep device substantially slow. If you prefer Kingroot over SuperSU, you are DONE!
Case you prefer SuperSU... Open Kingroot/.../Settings/Uninstall Kingroot
It will prompt if you are sure. Just click Continue/OK
Go back to prompt/terminal and run "adb reboot recovery"
Phone will enter TWRP!
Now, just a few steps!
Go to Install and flash SuperSU
Go to Wipe and do a Factory Reset
Go to Settings and disable TWRP app installer (optional)
And finally go to Reboot and choose System
DONE!!!
Now you have a phone with an unlocked bootloader, a recovery capable of doing a lot of stuff (sideload, wipe cache, backups), and rooted as well.

Thanks for the instructions. After unlocking its bootloader, wil it be compatible with any H440 custom rom (single sim operation, of course)? Or the only custom rom we get is Cm12?

Hi!
Well, unfortunately I don't know. I made the procedure, wrote the tutorial, and 2 months later changed my phone for a new one. Can't test anymore.

Yes, it should be compatible with any custom rom as long as your phone is Lg spirit LTE( snapdragon variant ).

ASUS ZenPad Z8 (ZT581KL) (P008) (Verizon) - Firmware

I found some firmware files for the Asus Zenpad Z8 ZT581KL for Verizon. Neither Asus or Verizon host any firmware for this device, despite having other similar device firmware available (like the ZT500KL, etc), which sucks.
VZW_ZT581KL_V3.4.16_all_user_M101901_16.0.0_160519.zip
ASUS Factory VZW_ZT581KL_V5.4.1_all_user_M101901_16.0.0_170202 androidhost.ru.zip
ZT581KL_T3.3.8_pre_burn_image_20160516.zip
ZT581KL_Z581KL_EMERGENCY_DLOAD.7z
ZT581KL_FUSE_Security_Keybox_160728.rar
Z581KL_initrd_diff.zip
ASUS.Flash.Tool.v1.0.0.45.zip
Running a stock, factory reset device, I was able to flash VZW_ZT581KL_V3.4.16_all_user_M101901_16.0.0_160519.zip using Asus Flash Tool 1.0.0.45, which successfully downgraded Tablet from V3.4.23 to V3.4.16.
I tried flashing ZT581KL_T3.3.8_pre_burn_image_20160516.zip but it did not work and error-ed out with no brick or anything. Usually the firmware is in a .raw format so you can flash either via zip file which has raw file in root folder of archive, or via the raw file itself. I tried both and was not successful. For some reason this archive had a .bin file instead of a .raw file. I tried renaming them but still didn't work. However, I was able to extract the .bin to find the firmware files inside just like the other version firmwares (that were in raw). One thing I have not tried yet, is to try manually flashing the individual firmware files from the extracted bin, and see if that works--or if someone else with this tablet wants to try, here are the files. If successful, it might lower kernel version down more to allow root exploits to root device.
I have not tried flashing V5.4.1, but I'm confident it will work. I do not know if via the Asus Flash Tool/Asus Tablet will allow doing a flash to V5.4.1 and downgrade back down to V3.4.16, but just did V.3.4.23 (stock orig fw already on device) to V.3.4.16 and it worked. I did receive an OTA to upgrade to V3.4.18 (or was it V.3.4.21, I can't remember) and took the upgrade (then flashed back to V.3.4.16), so it appears that when doing an OTA it will "leap-frog" to the next higher version release until you are on the newest build, so the first OTA you get won't do a direct upgrade from V3.4.16- to V5.4.1 or V5.4.5, but will upgrade it in an incremental way, via the next higher version release.
Hopefully someone can try to root their tablet if any of these files are of any help. I might work up courage to try 3.38 again via manual fastboot, but if you do it and succeed, I would love to hear about it.
The other files hosted ZT581KL_Z581KL_EMERGENCY_DLOAD.7z and ZT581KL_FUSE_Security_Keybox_160728.rar have to do with re-flashing the Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC (un-bricking), and the other one something to do with clearing/setting FUSE when the phone leaves factory or something, I'm not sure. Hopefully they can be of some use to someone to unlock this device. It would be nice. So here u go.

I used 7zip to extract the firmware from the archive.. Open 'ZT581KL_T3.3.8_pre_burn_image_20160516.zip' with 7zip. It should come up with a folder named 'ZT581KL_T3.3.8_pre_burn_image_20160516'. Go in that folder. There will then be a file shown called 'userdata.bin'. In 7zip, if you right click that file, then select 'Open Inside', it should open inside the .bin file and show the firmware files. From there, you can extract them somewhere. Hopefully, you can try to apply each .img file separately (fastboot), one at a time, and see if it works. Thank you!
Sorry to resurrect this old thread but I might have some info that will help others.
First off thanks for the OP for the download links as I cannot find the OEM ROMS anywhere for this device.
Second here are some more instructions that you may need if you are having issues with this device.
Use ASUS FLash Tool v1.0.0.45, it has the device model that you need and was the one that worked for me. Then download ASUS Factory VZW_ZT581KL_V5.4.1_all_user_M101901_16.0.0_170202 androidhost.ru.zip from the link the OP posted, it should be the first file, then this is the step that I missed and took forever to figure out. You have to open that zip file and extract the .raw file, so you should have a file called ZT581KL_all_VZW_user_V5.4.1.raw. That is the file that you need to select in the Asus Flash Tool by clicking the little box with a down arrow inside it, then boot your tablet into Fastboot (Hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons) then once in fastboot, make sure you select the right model for this tablet it should be, ZT581KL, then I left Wipe Data as no, then connect your tablet to your computer with a USB cable, and you should see your Serial Number and a round icon under the State column. Then once that is all correct click the Start button, you may get an error about some FPS thing that can't be downloaded or something just hit OK, then you should see under the Description column that it's flashing the ROM, wait for a while and you should then have a "Flash Image Successfully (The serial number for your device will show here)" under the description and your tablet will reboot.
My tablet was originally on v5.4.5, this ROM will take you back to v5.4.1 but then through the tablet settings you can do an upgrade to v5.4.4 then do another one and it will be at v5.4.5 then you are all set.
So the issue I was having with the tablet was after a factory reset it would freeze at the setup screen and not let me continue, it took me forever to find out how to get it fixed and the instructions above worked for me, so if anyone else is having similar issues then hopefully this will help. I literally spent days and searched through about 70 forums to try and find a fix for it, I even reached to Asus for help, which they basically told me I had to pay to send it in and have it fixed, I was just about to give up when I came upon this thread and the OP's download links, so thanks again smokejumper76. If anyone has any questions about my instructions feel free to reply/comment.
Thanks!
Downgrade success
I used the files provided by OP and was able to successfully flash from 5.4.1 to 3.4.16. I got this tablet from a friend a few years back that he acquired from his work when it went out of business. It has the frp lock on it and im looking at the few available options. So, since this tablet had been sitting for two years. Its Guinea pig time. I'll flash the 3.3.8 and check back. It seems you can go forward or backward in so versions with the flash tool. So I'm not too worried about brick. If I can just get usb debugging on I'll be gold. Possible exploits if it runs.
Well. The 3.3.8 is not packaged properly for flashing. And that 600mb file expands to 9gb. There is a file "system.img" inside that's roughly the right size as the system and has the correct file structure. I have a friend who is going to help me repack that rom correctly for flashing. Meanwhile I am going to look into the 3.4.16 rom and see if I can't set usb debug to on and flash the modded image. From there I should be able to sideload su. I'll report back.

I've been messing around with some of the files, and I was able to brick and unbrick the device following the firehose SOP PDF instructions. It basically flashes a barebones boot w/o any OS, and you have to flash a complete firmware to it to restore it back.
I was also able to install TWRP but it showed 0 space avail, I think because I didn't wipe it. I'll play with that later.

I need to ask @清水侑磨 about how to flash ZT581KL_T3.3.8_pre_burn_image_20160516.zip. I think the userdata.bin file is a NAND dump created by Chinese Miracle 2 / Infinity Box but I'm having problems getting it to read the partitions. I was able to get the tablet in EDL mode, so I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.
Anyone have a QPST .QCN file for ZT581KL for this device? Flashing 3.3.8 from that preburn file will nuke your IMEI. Mine got changed to all 1s and lost provisioning connectability w/ carrier. in fastboot/adb, so I need to restore it. If anyone could make a QCN (with your IMEI removed of course) so I can do that I would be most appreciative.

Sorry for the late reply.
To boot AOSP, instead of burning the system.img from edl or fastboot, use adb.
The method is as follows
1、Start TWRP.
2、Connect your PC to USB.
3、Go to the directory where system.img is located, and press
adb push system.img /sdcard/
4、Enter the shell
adb shell
5、Mount system.img.
mkdir new-system
mount system.img new-system
6、Copy the contents of the mounted system.img to the system partition.
cp -a -R -p new-system/* /system
(If this fails, check that the system partition is mounted. If the system partition is mounted but you cannot write to it, format the system partition.)
7、After rebooting, you should see an Android message

How To Guide Simple Guide How To Root

Alright so a lot of people seem to have issues with rooting their device and creating a lot of spam on this forum because they don't know how to read.
This guide is for Windows PCs and will be for the people who don't want to read complicated guides.
What you Need:
A Device that has an unlocked Bootloader
The Factory Image of the ROM you are using or updating to Download Here
The Latest STABLE Magisk Download Here, if you are opting for a Beta/Canary then have fun.
7-zip or similar file extractor
ADB and Fastboot, I use Minimal ADB and Fastboot but this Script Here will download the latest version and add it to your PATH.
Way to Transfer Files to Phone (USB Cable?)
Steps:
Update to the Latest ROM. This can be done via Sideloading (personal preference) or OTA
Confirm you are on the same version as the factory image. Current is SP2A.220305.013 aka March 2022 Update
Extract the Zip File to a Folder. Current filename is raven-sp2a.220305.013.a3-factory-87b3bf0a.zip
Go in to the folder and extract the Image ZIP into a Folder. Current Name is image-raven-sp21.220305.003.zip
Find the Boot.img and transfer it to your device.
Install the Magisk Manager APK on the Device
Open Magisk and press Install.
Select "Select and Patch a File" and select the Boot.img you transferred to your device.
Magisk will patch the file and place the new .img file in your downloads. The filename will look like "magisk_patched-24300_abcde.img".
Transfer the patched file from your Downloads folder to your PC.
Reboot your phone to Fastboot mode Youtube Tutorial
Locate the patched .img file and press SHIFT+RightClick, click the option "Copy as Path"
On your PC open Command Prompt. If you dont know how to do this, you shouldn't be rooting your device.
In command prompt type "fastboot flash boot" and then paste the location of your patched .img file.
The whole command should look like "fastboot flash boot "C:\Users\Admin\Downloads\magisk_patched-24300_abcde.img"
Reboot the phone with the command "fastboot reboot"
Once the device is booted up, go to Magisk and see if you are rooted.
If there is enough demand, I can provide photos to help.
If I messed up along the way, let me know and I can change the guide.

That's great news, I've been missing it.
I am going to do this on S3B1.220218.006 (QPR3 Beta 1.1). Fingers crossed!
Worked perfectly, the only thing I might add is a link to the Google USB Drivers (since they must've updated). I had them installed originally (to have unlocked my device in the first place) but needed to update them.
Get the Google USB Driver | Android Studio | Android Developers
The Google USB Driver is required to perform adb debugging on Windows with Google devices.

Thanks a ton! I would've never noticed that the wipe step was no longer needed.
I recognize I am replying a lot, haha... sorry about that.
Presumably the update method for this should work exactly like past Pixel devices, yeah?
For me, this method was as follows:
1. Download the full image and edit the script to remove the "-w"
2. Install the modified image
3. Boot up once
4. Then basically follow the original procedure from this thread again
I know on OnePlus devices I was always able to uninstall Magisk root via the Magisk app, take the OTA, then reinstall Magist root via the Magisk app before rebooting, but that never seemed to work on Pixel devices (at least for me).
Just to share...
I decided to give the Magisk restore images, OTA, install again before reboot method a try and it worked perfectly going from QPR 1.1 to 2.
Thank you for this post. I would like to root my phone. I am a noob and it’s a little intimidating. If you would add pictures, I for one, would really appreciate that. Thanks again!

Nice. It'd be fantastic too if we could use this as a ongoing reference for future OTA's. Have someone drop by and post a patched init_boot image everytime a new OTA comes out and keep track of them for the CPH2451

I am not responsible for any any harm, such as bricking, or bootloops, which may happen to your device. This is what worked for me and other guys in this forum.
Important notes to consider: A big thanks to azsl1326 he got us the Patched Init_boot to make this possible.
-You need to unlock the bootloader of your device. This means you'll lose the data ect ect ect.
-People are losing Netflix access after this process, right now we haven't found a "cure" for this, but is pretty normal if you have root a Oneplus device before, when i found the fix i'll edit this right away.
-I'll write this for experts and newcomers a like just in case so they don't have to start asking for simple questions.
-After the root some people have the issue that they cant use security like passwords, fingerprint...ect ect. (as of now the only fix they have is to reset everything and doing the rooting again for 2+times). If i find the "cure" i'll let you guys know.
Spoiler: Issues connecting your device to the PC?
To some people the USB debugging is not working at all, because the phone turn it off after you try to use it or connect it to the PC.
I personally had this issue so i just workaround it. This is what i did:
1- Connect the OnePlus to the same network as your PC.
2- Turn On Wireless debugging on your OP11 and select Pair device with pairing code:
3- Then use this on your PC after you open CMD of course:
Then put the code you have.
The check with this command to see if it is connected:
Now that it is connected you can enter bootloader and connect it to your PC in that mode normally with:
OK now back to the deal:
1- Download the latest platform tools from here:
-Unzip it and put it in the desktop for easy access.
2-The bootloader
Spoiler: Unlock the Bootloader
Step 1 - Unlocking Bootloader:
1.A - Enable OEM Unlocking:
1. Open Settings Application -> About device -> Version -> Tap on Build Number 7 times
2. Open Settings Application -> Additional Settings -> Developer Options
3. Enable OEM Unlocking
4. Enable USB Debugging
1.B - Entering Bootloader
The bootloader must be unlocked in order to flash the recovery.
Ensure the device is connected to the computer via ADB by entering the following command
Code:
adb devices
The output should be something similar to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(note the device name on the left will not be the same)
Reboot into the bootloader by entering the following command:
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
1.C - Unlock
Once entered, enter the following command:
Code:
fastboot flashing unlock
WARNING: THIS WILL WIPE ALL DATA ON THE DEVICE
Use the volume keys to select unlocking, and then use the power button to confirm.
Once complete, enter the following command:
Code:
fastboot reboot
You will now have to go through the device setup.
Repeat steps 1.A and 1.B to enter back into the bootloader
3- Flashing the Init_Boot.img
In this case i'll provide the already patched Init_boot.img for A07!!! so you don't have to look for it, is attached to this thread.
Download the img and put it in the same folder as the platform tools for easy access.
Spoiler: Magisk Canary
After you enter the device.
1. Dowload the Magisk Canary version from this link:
2. Install it on you device.
Spoiler: Opening CMD (Command Prompt)
After you got everything in place open the platform folder and type CMD on the location box, then press Enter.
If that doesn't work, just open CMD and type:
CD and write the location of the platform folder to get it to work.
Now to the "flashing"
Enter the bootloader like before to start, now type this:
The above command should automatically flash the init_boot to both the slots. However, if you face any issues while executing that command, then you could also manually specify the slots while flashing. Like this:
And
4-Restart your phone and check the magisk canary app that everything is OK.
Spoiler: Bypassing Safetynet
This is optional; however, highly recommend
Note, due to the nature of Safetynet, this can change at anytime and may begin failing in the future.
A - Repackaging Magisk
1. Launch Magisk Manager
2. Tap Settings Icon (Top Right Corner)
3. Tap "Hide The Magisk App"
4. Enter New Application Name
5. Click OK and wait
6. Uninstall original Magisk APK if it has persisted
B - Enable Zygisk & Deny List
1. Launch Magisk Manager
2. Tap Settings Icon (Top Right Corner)
3. Enable "Zygisk"
4. Enable "Enforce Deny List"
C - Configure Deny List
it is recommended to add any application you would like to hide from Magisk here
1. Launch Magisk Manager
2. Tap Settings Icon (Top Right Corner)
3. Tap "Configure DenyList"
4. Tap the 3 dots in the top right and select "Show System Apps"
5. Select the following applications:
~ Android System
~ Google Play Store
~ Google Play Services
~ Google Services Framework
D - Delete App Data
1. Launch Settings Application
2. Select Apps
3. Select App Management
4. Clear data for the following apps:
~ Google Play Store
~ Google Play Services
~ Google Services Framework
5. Reboot the device
E - Flash Universal Safetynet Fix
1. Download the Universal Safetynet Fix
2. Launch Magisk
3. Select Modules
4. Select "Install From Storage"
5. Select Universal Safetynet Fix
6. Wait for Flashing to complete
7. Reboot
Download a safetynet check just to be sure.
And thats pretty much it, if you guys find some issues after the root, please post them here so i'll start adding more and more info about it for future references and fixes.

Do you by chance have the stock unpatched init_boot.img? When you say that you have to redo the whole root process a couple of times to get screen lock working, uprooting would be flashing a stock init_boot yeah?

unrooting before the update is actually only needed if you do the update via incremental update (e.g. eu and india get full firmware packets) so you don't need to unroot first

Mine is the USA model CPH 2451, I updated my phone to A.07 already by normal means, my bootloader is still locked, so I haven't even begun to mess with it YET. This might cause issues with my lock and fingerprint I'm assuming? Just wanna be sure I'm understanding this correctly. Thanks man for all your help! Much appreciated

I didn't have an issue with my lock screen and stuff. I also didn't do anything to the phone other than unlock bootloader and root. Once I did this my lock screen and fingerprint and stuff wasn't an issue at all. Maybe I got lucky.

The password issue has nothing to do with rooting, it is caused by unlocking the bootloader. Before you do any rooting, first lock and unlock the bootloader 3 times. After the third time, you can set the password (or pin, or pattern/etc) and THEN do the actual rooting.
Do you have boot.img instead i rather have temp root
i accidentally pushed the patched init boot img to phone before updating, now i keep getting failed system update, any way to revert back to original A06 init_boot.img so i can take update and then come back and root

can you point me to the init boot image on A06, i accidentally pushed the patched a07 version to a06 w/o updating to a07
So I did the above and magisk turns into a green android icon and won't start. It did start before I flashed the init boot.... ?? Tried to re-install magisk, same thing. green icon.....
Do I need to sideload magisk? (adb sideload Magisk-v25.2.zip) ???
