Stock Redmi Note 8 Pro - Update not possible - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi,
using a complete stock Redmi Note 8 Pro. Installed with FW 12.0.5.0 (A10) Stable. All stock nothing changed or unlocked.
It is not possible to update this phone to any newer FW Release
Tried all existing newer Releases (12.5.2.0, 12.5.3.0, .... 12.5.7.0). It is EU Model.
Error Message:
Sorry, flash to this stable Version is not allowed.
Miui Version: MIUI Global 12.0.6 Stable - 12.0.6.0 (QGGEUXM)
Found some other People with the same issue on german Forum, but nobody found a solution for this. Maybe here is someone who can help.

Just unlock bootloader and lock it with newer version if you want...
And there're some tricks on YouTube that can flash recovery file with that updater. Try to find it

New device Anti Roll-Back question

Hello XDAers, I just unboxed my Redmi Note 5 PRO (M1803E7SG) and the first thing I wanted to do, after unlocking the bootloader of course, is installing a custom ROM. But all this talk and bricked phones, due this Anti Roll-Back feature has me a little confused, even though I did my research on the subject.
My Redmi came out-of-the-box with:
Android Version : 8.1.0 OPM1.171019.011
MIUI Version : MIUI Global 9.5 | Stable 9.5.13.0(OEIMIFA)
Baseband Version : 660_GEN_PACK-1.147555.0.150932.1
Kernel Version : 4.4.78-perf+
Android Security Patch Level : 2018-05-01
Should I not upgrade and wait for my unlock pass? I have read that my version should not have the anti roll-back feature implemented.

Yep, your device is ARB 3. You can easily check yourself with "fastboot getvar anti". Do not upgrade MIUI, or you will get ARB 4 which will make things more difficult in the future.

you have ARB3... and it doesnt matter only difference with ARB3 and ARB4 is that you cant roll back.. ARB4 have fixes and uptodate firmware.. as for custom roms . only thing is you cant use command to install twrp. you need boot command and then manually install twrp.
Thank you all for your answers, greatly appreciated! By coincidence XDA also posted this article, which helps a lot. As I have to understand, I will not need any extra "dummy" images prior to installing TWRP and as I want to install AOSP Roms only, I won't have any issues like bricking my device.
Arb 3 , you not need flash dummy antirbypass when install twrp .
Aosp rom not have firmware arb , you are safety

After unlocking BL and installing TWRP, you can still install newer MIUI roms as long as they are firmware-less (which do not include ARB).
I see.. Thank you all for the info. I now need to wait for the unlock procedure. By the way MIUI is kind of growing in me, I also think that I'm going to lose my warranty when I flash a custom ROM. But I have 60 days (give or take) to make up my mind, till Xiaomi lets me unlock the bootloader, so...

About the note 5 ai

I bought note 5 ai china version the phone came with global ROM mui 9.5.5.0 oeimifa i noticed ihave an update available in ota
Mui 10.0.4.0 oeimifh
Is it safe to upgrade?
Yes. Why would you think otherwise? If its the anti-rollback thing, no need to worry (unless you go to roms prior to 9.5.19).
I was thinking that because my phone in Chinese version with global ROM maybe the update is only for real global version and will not work with mine
So the update will work fine ? Then I will download it ty
I bought this phone for custom ROMs my seller installe
d a fake rom ?it was just easier to flash TWRP and bootleggers 3.5 beta than using miflash to restore the official miui and on the plus side the bootloader was already unlocked

After searching around, I thought it would be convenient to have a place with links for the official roms, just in case someone needs to go back to stock.

MIUI 11 Update China Version

Hi Guys,
I just saw this article releasing the file updates to be done in the System Updates of our MI MIX 2 Settings.
piunikaweb[.]com/2019/10/25/mi-6-mi-mix-2-miui-11-stable/
Has anyone tried this?
I have the global version 10.3.5 stable as of the moment, I want to know if there's someone who literally tried upgrading their MI MIX 2 to MIUI 11 China Version
Thanks
i saw those treads but i didnt find the option,in that blog we have to choose the update file under settings.....system update.....even i was wondering the same if it works or not.
I'm running Xiaomi.eu which is based on China version. I'm on 9.10.24 and this is miui 11. Everything works fine for me.

I'm confused. So you're right now on 9.10.24 but you didn't tried upgrading to 11 yet? Am i understanding you correctly?
Because my question is that if some guys here from the global version used this kind of file from the chinese version and upgrade their MIUI to 11 from china version same as provided in the article, also how did it worked out? I mean feedbacks or anything like that on MIUI 11.

Question How to update to 12.5.9 ?

Hello,
My lisa came with 12.5.5 out of the box. OTA offers direct to 13.0.2. Is there anyway I can upgrade to 12.5.9 ? I don't want to upgrade to A12 atm, or anytime soon really.
Indian firware if that matters.
I see xiaomi.eu has a version of 12.5.9 which is no longer updated, but lisa isn't listed on the compatible device list.
Thanks

First of all, some basics (not sure are you aware of):
1) If your phone came with Indian, you can update but only to Indian firmware without unlocking your Bootloader:
Install MIUI Recovery ROM using Stock Recovery and Updater App
Has your Xiaomi phone received a new MIUI update? Then follow this guide to easily install MIUI Recovery ROM using stock recovery and Updater app on Xiaomi devices. Any smartphone user prefers getting…
www.thecustomdroid.com
In that case you will need to download the so-called Recovery or ZIP stock firmware and use the installation as above
2) For anything else, like switching from Indian to Global or EEA (or to Russian or Chinese) - they are all stock ROMs, or switching to Xiaomi.eu - that is not stock ROM, or any other custom (ie, not stock) ROM, you would first have to unlock Bootloader
AFAIK, Xiaomi.eu has no 12.5 for Lisa, only 13.0 - hence not applicable if you insist on 12.5
To switch from Indian to Global or EEA (still stock ROMs), you will need the unlocked Bootloader, the so-called Fastboot or TGZ firmware (and MiFlash tool):
How to Flash Fastboot ROMs on Xiaomi? - xiaomiui
If you are a Xiaomi user and have installed custom ROMs on your device, then you might be wondering how to flash fastboot ROMs on Xiaomi devices. This article
xiaomiui.net

I don't know where do you see 12.5.9 for Lisa - I had 12.5.8 EEA) , but there should be not much difference
Anyway, install the following app and you can check which versions are available for Lisa (for stock Global, EEA, Indian, etc) or custom Xiaomi.eu:
MIUI Downloader - Apps on Google Play
MIUI upgrade app for Mi users.
play.google.com
It shows the Latest but click on Older and you will see all the previously released (stable) versions.
Btw, under Indian, I don't find 12.5.9, neither under Global or EEA (under Global there are eg 12.5.11 and 12.5.14)
From the app, you can also choose and download Recovery (zip) or Fastboot (tgz) stock ROM for the wanted version - depending on your flashing method as above
thank you very much. I did request to unlock the bootloader in the mi unlock app, but all the custom A11 roms stopped development or moved onto A12, so I didn't see much point in unlocking bootloader.
as i understand, if i am on the indian firmware, i can flash the indian rom without BL unlock. but if BL is unlocked, do i need to switch firmware as well to install say the Global ROM ?
about 12.5.9, i mistook it as the last version before they moved to 13. sorry about that.

When you unlock Bootloader it does not prevent you to update India ROM by stock Recovery method
It just gives you the additional option to switch eg to Global by flashing Fastboot/tgz ROM
Its like, you can always go by foot, but if you have a car, you have the additional option to go by car
Please take your time, Google, read to acquire further knowledge and know-how.
There are tons of guides here on XDA, on the Net, Google videos, etc
