My TMobile says carrier settings where your says operator settings, so that is odd too. Who is your carrier? Maybe try removing auto select network and see if you can pick LTE?

Not all networks allow it, i've not been able to change network type on any phone since moving to BT Mobile (EE) 6 or 7 years ago.

I just turn on the battery saver if i want to disable 5G and use 4G only, if i need to be turning off 5G i generally want to be streching out my battery life anyway.

Yeah, never thought of that tbh but iv no need for 5g at all anyways, my 4g is quite fast between 60-80 Mbps sometimes higher, on 5g it's wayyy higher and I just don't need it, I ran a speed test on my 5g and it sucked over 1gig of data within about 10 seconds lol mad

Thats because you did a speed test, the faster the connection the more data needed to get an accurate result, the 5G bit of it is irrelevant
In the normal world you wont use more data, you'll just see the what you want to see quicker, 100MB at 90Mbps or 100MB at 600Mbs is still just 100MB.

[Q] International HTC One X on AT&T US 3G problems

I'm running ARHD 5.1.0 on my international unlocked HTC One X.
I'm having a problem with my phone on AT&T. It is switching between H and 3G pretty often, and only H actually functions for data. This is pretty painful, especially when trying to stream Pandora.
I'm looking for help on how to analyse what is happening.
1. How can I see what band it is trying to use on 3G?
2. Is there a way to force it to always use H or EDGE, never 3G?
3. Is there a way to tune the 3G radio for AT&T USA?
4. Is it possible that now that the kernel source is released, the frequency issues can be fixed with kernel drivers?
According to Omega.net, here are the frequencies in my area:

Quick additional questions:
Is AT&T screwing with my signal? Would it make sense to modify the /system/build.prop to masquerade as a different phone?
Would modifying the /system/build.prop allow me to disable all but UTMS-II and UTMS-V?
ro.ril.imc.band=900,1800,1900,850
ro.ril.imc.uband="UMTS_BAND_I","UMTS_BAND_II","UMTS_BAND_V","UMTS_BAND_VIII"
I'm going to try disabling fast dormancy and see how that goes ala this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1111581
So far this change has had no effect. I still can't run speedtest.net for example, because it drops from H to 3G, then renegatiates to H again.
All I did was change the build.prop and reboot. Any idea if I have to do something more?
What APN are you using? the default one?
Mine changes to 3G, but only when not using data.......I've had this with every phone besides the Galaxy Nexus which stayed on H most of the time.
But I haven't tried streaming music, as I dont haha...I have it all on my phone.
Try using the Phone APN.
Create a new apn and type in phone for "Name" and phone for "APN" leave the rest blank and save, then click it to enable

Extended roaming tweak still working on JB

Stock rom does not have national roaming option but the build.prop tweak which does the same thing still works.
Just add these lines to build.prop:
ro.roaming.extended=true
ro.roaming.extended_rule=1
It'd be nice if someone can confirm that this actually does reject foreign networks..

Do you really need to edit build.prop for that? The .197 leak allows national roaming.. Are you sure you're looking in the right place or did they really remove it at the last instance?

National roaming is something different. It won't connect abroads but does at home. Majority of countries do not have in - country roaming possible if it's not the network you're meant to use. So you can turn national roaming on and not get huge phone bill when apps are updated on business trip but your virtual network operator works fine at home.
Same problem here in Spain with my virtual provider, I was fighting with them to correct the national roaming problem. Now I know this tweak will try in a few days when I can root the mobile.
A lot off thanks!

Nuh-uh. With the build.prop setting in place you do not need to have roaming ticked at all in network settings. IF it rejects networks from other countries then it's same as "national roaming".
I was on eXistenZ at the time I said that there is a national roaming option (should have made a screenshot). Maybe it's because the author bases his apps on Xperia Z. With stock .200 there is indeed only the option to turn roaming on or off.

National roaming tweak is fairly simple, just a few lines of code in framework. Plus the on/off setting bit. Technically tweaked phone "thinks" all the networks from your home country are OK to use and operator side blocks you from using the wrong ones. It was originally created by Cyanogenmod guys. So quite a few ROMs have it.
On the other hand it's surprisingly difficult to find modder who actually knows about compiling android from sources. Majority just add and remove some apps and maybe tweak build.prop. So getting that tweak into your favourite ROM can be rather hard.
So it's entirely plausible someone added that into Sony codebase. In worst case this just removes roaming notification so it'd be nice if someone has a chance to test if mobile data works across border with no warning.
Looks like .96 firmware requires this tweak unlike .200 if you don't want to enable data roaming everywhere.

LG G3 D855 Euro Model on Rogers Wireless - does LTE work ?

Hi all,
Just picked up the D855 euro version LG G3 and do not see any LTE options in the data section.
I only see GSM/WCDMA.
I entered the LTE mobile settings for rogers and only see "H", not even 4G...
Is there a menu where I can switch this ?
And will I be able to use LTE in Montreal on Rogers Wireless using the 700 / 2100 / 2600 bands ?
I notice it doesnt have AWS with 1700 /2100
I dont mind if it says 4G as long as I can get LTE speeds...
Any help would be much appreciated
Thanks
I'm seeing the same on mine (Starhub Singapore D855). I think 4G is some countries is considered a value added service. You may need to call it in and have it activated on your SIM. I plan to call them later today after work to confirm.
I got mine to work on Fido. I flashed the HKG firmware through the TOT/DLL method. Then I either choose band 4 or 7(can't remember) in developer settings (3845#*885#)
Flash method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2799647 (Go say thanks to wolfgart!) There should also be a link to a guide to flashing. Also here are some screen shots if they help.

I actually got mine working by installing the app "LTE On Off" from the Google Play Store and selecting LTE/GSM/WCDMA
And entering Rogers LTE APN settings
Am getting 80MBPS download and 20MBPS upload
Works perfectly

OMG, can you please tell me how you did that? I've been trying to figure out step by step and I can't do anything! I downloaded Flashtool and when I tried to turn off the phone and put it in download mode, after plugging it in and opening up device manager, I can't see "ports" thus I can't change port to COM41. I've been stuck at literally the second step of this complicated process. I really would hate to see my G3 go to waste. Please help as I'm on the Rogers network.

Hmmm, try re-downloading and re-patching the flash toolkit, maybe something got screwed up there? Also try another USB port. if no try using another KDZ like Germany. Also go through Wolfgarts thread maybe someone had the same problem there.

Very simply download the LTE On/Off app from the Google Play store, it allows you to set your network to include LTE, which the LG G3 855 does not do by default. Once you have set it to LTE/GSM/WCDMA you should be good to rock and roll. It worked great for me!
I needed Intelli3G to force LTE availability at all times else after a reboot (for example) it will drop to GSM/WCDMA only.

Check your baseband version: Settings > About Device (all the way at the bottom) > Baseband Version. You should see a string like G920TUVS3DOJC, that's the latest update; not sure which one added VoLTE, but I know OJ7 had it. This page has a list of the versions.

There is a bug that causes Cell Standby to just eat through battery power. I've had mine off since I got my Edge but with all the updates I have not tried it again.
I may want to give it a try since I typically go into the band selection menu and lock in on LTE band 4 (band 12 at work has horrible speeds for data), but that causes me to miss calls since the phone can't switch to HSPA to take the call.

No no modification, no root. As it was from factory. Only installed all the push updates that asus made ...
I use this in dial:
*#*#4636#*#*
I don't know if this is the field test, but inside the first menu I can change the mobile network behavior.
Edit:
Sorry, didn't read all of your post, On my device the mode for 4g is "LTE/GSM auto (PRL)"
It connects in 4G and when the signal goes bad it reverts automatic to hsdpa.

Think it depends on user-submitted data. It doesn't work for me in Japan either - says the carrier but reports LTE, band unknown.
I can't understand the reason why we can't know the LTE band in stock rom.

Good question. Is a good idea to post on asus forum your question http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php
If many people do that they may find a solution.
LTE,unknown if you want it fix, you gotta write a petition to your telco and get them to script it.
most telco won't bother to do that as it is not important value. what is important to network engineers are the decibels, the LAC, maybe CID, the list rate, the smsc number etc.

But with the same company and different smartphone I was able to know the 4g band
This may help
If you use nova launcher and set up an activity widget, one of the activities is "field test mode". Set it up on the home screen and click it. Or use shortcut master to launcg the activity. Either way takes you to a menu i hadnt been to yet and it may provide answers. It has 4 options: UMTS, UICC, LTE & ASUS CUSTOM. In here you can change your band preferences and switch usb from vendor to asus usb
