[GUIDE][instantnoodlep][13.0] Guide to installing crDroid V9.0+ [OOS 12] - OnePlus 8 Pro Guides, News, & Discussion

This is a temporary guide until an official XDA thread of crDroid 9 by the maintainer is out
I'm posting the latest ROM info, install method and files for the users who are crDroid fans like me
Code:
*** Disclaimer
I am not responsible for any damage you made to your device
You have been warned
I'm not the maintainer or a crDroid dev
crDroid is a vanilla ROM, so there's no Gapps included
You don't have to be on OOS 13 to install the new CrDroid update as OOS 13 Framework is included
If you're on an OOS 12 or 13 based Custom ROM -> reboot to recovery -> factory reset then follow the clean flash method
The vbmeta and recovery.img files are from the payload.bin file of the ROM.zip file
The .img files are compressed into a .zip file and the tool I used to extract them are attached below
Flashing Instructions:
For flashing/getting OOS 12 in both slots:
Use Msmtool to come back on oos 11.
Download latest full zip of oos 12 from Oxygen Updater app or from OxygenOS builds XDA thread (You need to know your model number!)
Download and install the OPLocalUpdate apk from this XDA thread
Go into Settings -> system update -> local upgrade
Find the OOS 12 .zip you just downloaded from oxygen updater
Install it and reboot
Repeat steps 4 to 6 (To install OOS 12 on both slots)
Unlock bootloader
For first time install/ Clean Flash:
Have an unlocked bootloader & OOS 12 (C20 - C36) flashed to both slots.
Download ROM the file named like this: crDroidAndroid-13.0-XXXXXXXX-instantnoodlep-v9.X.zip
Download vbmeta, recovery for your device which is in the .zip file attached below
Put it in the same folder where your ADB/platform-tools files are
Reboot to bootloader
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img
fastboot reboot recovery
Choose "Factory reset"
Choose "Apply update" -> "Apply from ADB"
adb sideload "crDroidAndroid-13.0-XXXXXXXX-instantnoodlep-v9.X.zip"
Reboot to recovery.
Choose "Apply update" -> "Apply from ADB"
adb sideload gapps.zip (Nikgapps basic or full recommended)
If you want to install NikGapps Addons do this
Otherwise, go to the next suggestion if you want root or just reboot to system. Up to u
Reboot to recovery
Choose "Apply update" -> "Apply from ADB"
adb sideload addons.zip
Repeat step 1 - 2 for other addons
If you want root do this
Reboot to recovery
Choose "Apply update" -> "Apply from ADB"
adb sideload magisk.zip
OR adb sideload magisk.apk
Reboot to system & Enjoy!
Otherwise, just reboot to system. Up to u
To update:
Download ROM the file named like this: crDroidAndroid-13.0-XXXXXXXX-instantnoodlep-v9.X.zip
Put it in the same folder where your ADB/platform-tools files are
Reboot to recovery
Choose "Apply update" -> "Apply from ADB"
adb sideload "crDroidAndroid-13.0-XXXXXXXX-instantnoodlep-v9.X.zip"
Reboot to system & Enjoy!

Android: 13
Based on: OOS 12 Framework
Security Patch: October (2022-10-05)
Notes:
Need Clean Flash
"The Bootloader is unlocked" screen is removed

Kcal and per-app refresh rate is here
Screen resolution changer in display settings (1080P FHD+ and 1440P QHD+)
Issues:
No OTA and will be available in next update
No face unlock
No OOS cam
There's risk of poor SoT/battery life
Call recorder has issues
Google photos brightness bug
30/10/22 - Created this thread to help users install latest crDroid 9
11/11/22 - Anticipated official Crdroid 9.0 will come out soon
Based on: OOS 12 Framework
Security Patch: November (2022-11-05)
Notes:
This will be official build with OTA feature
Face unlock will work
No OOS cam
25/12/22 - Official crDroid 9.0 is released!
Based on: OOS 13 Framework
Security Patch: December (2022-12-05)
Notes:
Has OTA Update feature
Face unlock works
No OOS cam
Google photos brightness bug is fixed
New parallel apps with crDroid Launcher only
Issues:
When swiping on lock screen to allow face unlock doesn't work
Google Dialer UI becomes enlarged during calls in QHD+ resolution
26/12/22 - Updated method and added necessary files to install new update

NikGapps Addon info:
These issues were from crDroid 8 (A12.1)
Gboard
For Gboard users, deleting text in the text suggestions tab won't work unless u install the Gboard addon. But it needs to be installed before setting ur device up
A factory reset is needed for it to work, so don't flash it if u got everything set up
GoogleSearch
For google assistant users, "hey google" will not work without installing the GoogleSearch addonas the "google app" needs to be a system app.
But supposedly on crDroid 9 this issue doesn't happen and "hey google" works without the addon

Thanks, but I'm sorry to say that I'm not the maintainer/dev for this ROM.
It's in the disclaimer as well and I cannot take any credit
All I did was create this XDA thread to share this great ROM with people who aren't aware of it
It's good to hear that u managed to install it and everything is going well for you

When official will be released?

this is also my question

crDroidAndroid-13.0-20221223-instantnoodlep-v9.0 has been posted on sourceforge.net. Will there be a separate branch for crDroidAndroid-13.0.

As you all know, Moto has finally released the first Oreo soak test for select users to test. Thanks to @rajatgupta1998, we all get to try it out
[size=+1]About these builds[/size]
This is the stock firmware, repackaged to be flashable in TWRP Recovery. In an effort to make these zips safer, I have removed all bootloader and gpt (partition table) related items.

[size=+1]Other Notes[/size]
* If you want to root, use Magisk and just flash in TWRP immediately after flashing the newest Oreo build. The latest build now fully passes SafetyNet and shows the device as being Certified in the Play Store.
* If you're already on the previous Oreo build (OPJ28.108 - November Security Patch), you can easily update to the latest Oreo build (OPJ28.111-12 - December Security Patch) by dirty flashing. If you want to keep root, you'll still need to flash Magisk again after flashing the newer build.
* To root the Nougat build(s), you will need to flash a custom kernel, then flash Magisk (same as before).

This IS the Moto Soak test build. I've just made it TWRP flashable and safer for everyone to use. But yes, to answer your question, the issue with the Camera and Flashlight tile taking a few (5 or more) seconds to open is present here. There isn't anything I can do about that, however when Moto releases a future OTA update and have fixed the issue, I will make a new zip and post it here.
I will also make a nougat build of NPJS25.93-14-18 that is TWRP flashable as well for anyone who would like to be on stock nougat or easily revert back to stock nougat.
Thanks for your Hard Work.

About this build
What is different about this versus what's already available? Basically what I have done is taken the previous 7.0 (nougat) firmware and directly patched it using the 8.1.0 (oreo) OTA zip from this thread. In an effort to make this build safer for everyone to use, I have left out any bootloader related items which is what can potentially prevent you from being able to downgrade. If this had been an official release, I would also have removed dm-verity (and forced encryption) as needed also. But being this is a test build from Moto, they have yet to enable such features. Now, on to the good stuff.
Requirements
-> Unlocked bootloader
-> TWRP Recovery Installed (or booted)
-> You may or may not need to be on stock nougat prior, need confirmation on this
Installation
-> Download the TWRP Flashable zip (Links below)
-> Place zip on device (internal storage or external)
-> Reboot to TWRP (or boot it)
-> Flash zip && Profit

Other Notes
Currently as mentioned in the other thread, the build doesn't fully pass SafetyNet as it's a test release. You can use Magisk modules to fix this if needed.
You can also easily root by flashing Magisk immediately after the TWRP zip or any time afterwards.

Waiting for the Nougat build! Really need to go back to stock. Thank you for your work!
Awesome work dont stop keep up the good work
I`ve had previously RR 5.8 (Nougat 7.1, no custom kernels) and try install your ROM (without wipes, like you describe in instruction). Result? Bootloop. I have Moto 2g RAM/16 Gb Flash, install through rajatgupta recovery v 3.2.1-r3. Try now with wipes, but i don`t have confidence for good result.
try again with wipes, works normally. woah

Fair enough. I'm surprised you haven't unlocked the bootloader yet, LineageOS is pretty good for the G6+ and also is used as a base ROM for flashing GSI's. I'll be making a stock based custom kernel (and one for the custom rom's/GSI's soon too).

To expand on Jleeblanch's reply, you may have to wait for Motorola to release the Oreo kernel source code, so developers can work on improving the kernel. Best thing to do is to check the Motorola Mobility GitHub page every so often, where you may see a request for the Oreo source code for our device appear https://github.com/MotorolaMobilityLLC/kernel-msm/issues Once there's a request made, Motorola should release the code when it's ready for release and then pave the way for custom Oreo kernels

I would make the request myself, same as I've done for other devices (currently have a request up for beckham) but being that this is supposed to be a private soak test, not sure if they'll appreciate it just yet. But best believe, when they release the official Oreo build, I'll be all over it (assuming someone doesn't beat me to it [emoji6])

Oh yup, it'd probably be a bit soon to put in a request, and I imagine they may change the kernel source code for the final release anyway (e.g. if they update to the latest security patch). Thanks for keeping a close eye on it - exciting times ahead

Magisk and Data
Thank you for share your work TheCapesCrew. I Just download the rom and I should flash it today.
I'd like to know if it already comes with magisk or if I can follow the standard procedure to install it.
Should I use the boot.img inside your rom, or the original from ASUS website to add magisk to the system?
And there's anyway to flash your rom without data loss?
I'm currently with version WW_ZS551KL_15.0410.1812.95_0 version with magisk 19.2 and TWRP 3.2.3-0-Z01G on my Zenfone 4 pro.
Thank you so much!
You should be able to flash right over. I would stick with my bootloader since it matches the kernel version and recovery kernel. The recovery I included has the correct kernel also. I actually compiled a twrp that's newer. 3.3.1, just haven't published it yet.

I have a Mi 8 Lite (platina), for which there is no official LineageOS support. But LineageOS custom ROM for the device is available on XDA. On further research, I can see that vendor files, device...

Anyone wants to try?
I'm planning to flash the GSI image of Lineage OS
Waiting for unlock process now...
I thought that most function on this phone is quite usual on any other phones,
so it should be no big issue on flashing GSI?
Tell me if I was wrong..
Sure, that could be first step. Let us see how well treble is implemented.

already tried to install on mine, and does not start the system after it is installed, twrp shows as if it had no operating system installed!

How did you flash the system.img? I believe you need to restart on fastboot, use the command "fastboot reboot fastboot" and only then "fastboot flash system system.img"
Anyone who has unlocked the bootloader but does not want to format the current Android installation to test a GSI, can test it using DSU first
waiting for this rom
Waiting for custom rom
a CRDroid ROM for POCO M3 please.
The hardware specs are 95% the same as REDMI 9T
No forum for redmi 9T, so i think poco m3 has a little bit chance to get supported soon

Update: Headphone jack works by turning on "Use alternative audio policy" in phh settings > Qualcomm features. Go crazy.

OK Google and Google Voice Typing do not work. Could you inform the developer about it? Perhaps somebody can find workaround.

I'm not really the person to ask about this. I've just pulled those from the telegram group. You can join the telegram group, there's definitely more knowledgeable people there.

Should be noted that there is still a bluetooth bug in this version, but I'm sure it'll get fixed, devs know what they're doing Test and provide feedback people!
I tried this on my EU Poco M3 with 4GB RAM and 8GB flash and it failed to boot. I think it failed immediately after the bootloader so probably the kernel had some boot error while booting.
Installed LOS and it booted up and works great except for Bluetooth. Can't wait for further updates, been holding off using my M3 until now.
Works like charm for a initial build, very thx
Here my way to got it running:
1. Unlock Bootloader
2. Tried TWRP Fork but messed with the reboot ^^ (i was just to dump)
3. Tried OrangeFox Fork from here
4. Important! After recoveryflash via fastboot, hold down power and vol+ button until Orange Fox appears on screen (normal restart causes recovery image to get wiped out. I told you i was to dump in the first place so i didn't try TWRP again but i guess would also work)
5. Stock Rom seemed after Install dead to me, because of stuck at MIUI Logo (but maybe i did not wait long enough and i updated to 12.0.7. befor and did a factory reset)
6. OrangeFox showed that Partitions are encrypted.
7. Got Xiaomi EU Rom here (I used 12.0.4 because 12.0.6. were taken off again yesterday while i downloaded it.. lol)
8. In OrangeFox now i wiped all cache, dalvik and data (Need because of encryption) but do no restart after it (i did restart one time to see what happens to the encryption, but i had in mind i got a problem after it, so you should try without restart first)
9. Flash Xiaomi EU Rom with OrangeFox (tried to boot after flash into this rom but stuck on MIUI Logo, but maybe did not waited long enough again^^)
10. Flash LineageOS 17.1 from juve60tet and wipe caches again and reboot.
11. Working Lineage OS on Poco M3
Bugs i noted:
Bluetooth as already known
Fingerprint sensor selects Wigeds/Icons on Homescreen like when navigating with a keyboard or a controller in Android.

PSA: There is Still Hope & Life for Your Find 7 - Lineage OS 16 (Android 9.0) And BitGapps

I've accidentally stumbled upon this while trying to revive my Find 7 X9076.
There is a way to Run Lineage OS 16 AND install Gapps WITHOUT unifying storage.
I had to remove the device compatibility checks in the OS to be able to install this without Error 7.
My phone - Find 7 X0976
Recovery - TWRP 3.1.0-0
Storage - Stock (16gb + 16gb)
Step 1 - Boot into Recovery
Step 2 - Reset and Wipe for Fresh Install
Step 3 - Install Lineage OS 16
Step 4 - Install BITGapps for Android 9.0
Step 5 - Reboot and enjoy
I don't know about rooting or anything else, just how to get around the Gapps failing to install. Bitgapps is small enough to install without any jury rigging.

@Esposition Download link via pling.com for BitGapps removed from OP. pling.com is a paid-per-download site, and as such violating the XDA Forum Rules and not accepted as file host on XDA.

Silly as it's from the bitgapps download page, but I've uploaded it into the google drive now.
Both downloads in one link.
I use MindtheGapps for my oppo Find 7. Lineage has dropped support for Oppo Find 7 I guess. I can't find the page anymore. Can I know what version is the LOS 16 in that link? Anyone know where to download the older versions?
Anyone still has the last build for Oppo Find7 Lineage OS 16. I need t0 wipe and reflash my phone which is running the 11 Jan 2021 version. Not sure if there are any newer than that. Thanks. I have no clue how to build it.

Nvm found it.
See on archive.org: LineageOS Backup 2021-02-17 - "LineageOS mirror/backup made on 2021-02-17 after LineageOS 16 was "dropped" > Show all files > roms/ > {device}.
Sadly old LineageOS packages are automatically deleted from the LineageOS servers after 4~6 weeks.
See LineageOS FAQ - Archives
Thanks to monteverde_org on r/LineageOS.
Will this also work on Find 7a? Thanks!

this rom? Not sure, but i think it does. Coz there would have a separate folder for 7a if not.
@Esposition, how do you remove the device compatibility checks?
