A Hard Brick in my life; me and my attempts to solve problems with my system or the systematics of my problems... - Moto G5 Questions & Answers

In short, I installed a Vyper Os V6.1 custom rom and ended up encrypting the sd card through TWRP 3.5.1.9.2, in a way that only serves to read files. When I tried to decrypt the SD through TWRP, I went straight into the dev/block folder and renamed the "mmcblk" file "from 0 to 1"; and that generated the hard brick in my moto g5 xt1672 cedric.

Can't boot to anything but TWRP

So hello modders and fellow G padders.
So yesterday or last night I flashed Malludus ROM and it went ok but the keyboard kept quitting on me so in decided to try again and I downloaded the LG apps , Gapps and ROM from his locations ok no prob.
Did a wipe on TWRP latest version.
Now it will only boot into TWRP no matter what I do, I've tried downloaded mode w/ the PC suite and get a 43 code error.
I can still boot into TWRP so I prepared a SD card and tried to flash and nothing but back to TWRP the funny thing tho is as I mount my SD card and continue to flash the data size on my SD card gets larger as if I'm flashing it to the SD card.
So I copied and pasted to the internal memory and get failed flashes.
Neededing guidance .
Never have used Adb from command prompt but will now if someone can link me to a good tutorial.
Thanks again Modders and Gpadders.

Semibricked LG G4 after removing bloat apks

Hi all,
I semi-bricked my device (815) while cleaning from bloatware.
The last stuff I cleaned were some drm-stuff from LG which might caused my booting being stuck at Boot with Security Error, Authentication failed.
I am rooted and on Genisys 1.0 Rom and I would reflash it with command Flash but I removed the System.img from my internal sd Card.
I managed to copy it to the external sd Card but can't get the proper command to Flash it from there. Maybe the external sd Card is not even mounted in Download Mode?
Unfortunately I have no custom recovery installed so flashing a zip over this method is not possible.
Hard Reset of the phone is not working, there Comes a small error message with "secure boot not working".
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Matze
solved
Reinstalled Stock kdz-file with LG Flash Tool.
Even was able to Keep my files.
Now I Need to regain root.

Boot from SD card *ONLY* (all partitions) ?

Hi,
My LG G3 d855 has fried, the flash chip looks dead (unable to flash new system partition, when I try the dmesg from the recovery kernel shows error from the flash chip).
So now I'd like to know if it's possible to install everything on the SD card and boot from there. I already made a copy of all the partitions (I can still read from the flash), the /system partition is unusable but all the other ones look good.
Has anyone tried that ? Or does anyone have an idea where I could stick some boot arguments to make it work ?

Revived i9195 has 0 MB in TWRP internal Storage after Hard Brick

Hi community,
I suddenly experienced a hard bricked I9195 and managed to revive it with debrick.img and a USB JIG (burn debrick.img on SD Card, insert USB JIG, put battery back in and press Power Button).
I've flashed a new Bootloader with Odin3 and now my Phone boots again, but is unable to load Android (stuck on Boot Animation). I can launch TWRP and there I'm able to see the issues:
The internal storage is displayed with 0 MB space. This comes from broken partitions that cannot be mounted (mount reports "Invalid Arument").
I'm not able to reformat, wipe or fix them with TWRP.
Using fdisk, I found out, that my Internal Flash has a size of 3348 MB instead of 8 GB . Several partitions are defined and they exceed the 3348 MB.
I've tried to update TWRP to 3.2.1-1 with Odin, but even after passed flashing, it does not have any effect. I've also tried to go back to stock and added a pit file, but after the flashing is reported successfully and I reboot the phone, nothing has changed.
How can I fix the storage? TWRP is useless and cannot fix the partitions. Using fdisk for repartitioning would be crazy and the size is reported wrong.
Any ideas?

Additional findings:
It seems, that i can flash and do what I want. The flash storage discards any changes.
I've tried to flash another recovery. Nothing after reboot.
I've tried to write a file /system/testing. Not there after a reboot.
It seems that the flash is broken and the device assumes the write is okay.
I just encountered exactly the same problem on my S4 mini. Have you found any solution?
Regards
RR

And i f****d my moto z2 play again but not so badly

Hello, some time ago i posted something about my bricked phone, i did it again but not so badly.
So basically i tried to flash a GSI, and i kind of succeeded, the Phone starts and it asks me to put the password to start android, when i put it works but it says that the password i put was correct but the data was corrupt, i can go to TWRP and go in the files of an SD Card i have but, i cannot put anything in my internal storage via pc but luckily i have a chromebook, it also doesn't transfer to the internal storage, i tried to connect to my pc multiple times but it didn't work, so i want to know if i can re-install the Stock Rom via sd card with the help of my chromebook (it has 4gb)
If you are coming from Stock to GSI, you may encounter this encryption problem. The easiest way is to flash stock recovery after flashing GSI. Then boot, and when it asks you to enter password, and it fails, it tells you to reboot and the stock recovery will format your internal storage (TWRP can't).
If you want to get back to stock, just flash some stock firmware in fastboot (wiping data)
TWRP actually CAN format encrypted storage. It justs happens it won't work at the first try. You have to format two to three times, and on each format you need to reboot to TWRP until you format again and the red letters (errors) stops appearing. I do this all the time with 64-bit Treble TWRP and has never failed after doing this process.
