In fact, the Pixel watch has the heart sensor active all the time. With my old watch I could put the sensor every hour or once a day

doesn't work on a dog plush for me

The Casetop - EVERY Smartphone becomes a Laptop

Hey All!
Long time XDAer here I've been here since my G1 all those days ago. Well, I couldn't find this accessory...so I made one.
I'm starting a Kickstarter Campaign tomorrow at 2pm and I think my fellow Xperia ZL fans should know...!

Here's the summary:
30+ Hours of Battery Life
Apple/ASUS/Sony Quality
$250!
720p with a stretch goal at 1080p!
Please let me know what you think guys.
John
I was very excited about the Casetop when I discovered your Kickstarter campaign. I have been hoping for a product like this for such a long time! When I noticed that you were using a ZL in your demo I nearly fell out of my chair
I'm wondering if positioning the phone in the area directly below the keyboard will make it difficult to rest one's palm while typing. Is it possible to rest your right hand on something without touching the phone's screen?

While I see you list a 56 Watt-hour battery, the Kickstarter doesn't show a battery.
Is a battery already fitted into the mock-up used in the 5 min video ?
Will the battery be removable ?

In a future video would you please show how the wrist rest would be used and how the hand will rest while the phone is placed between the keyboard and outer bar ?
bluechu7 - Thanks for the kind words! Ya, I love my ZL. Great phone, I am kind of missing CM; so I might have to bug them for MHL support...Check out the update #13 on Kickstarter for your Frontbar thoughts. I have used it, and it appears like the phone doesn't get in the way but there is some solutions on that update too. Also, there is a hole in the Frontbar on the left, so you can have your phone beside the Casetop, and have the Casetop closed.
HailMikhail - The target weight is about 2 iPads in weight. I know that's not exact, but it will vary with accessories and stretch goals, but it will be about as heavy as a laptop. Batteries are heavy lol.
The prototype is just that, a prototype. The battery has not been integrated and the controllerboard needs to have the extra parts removed as you can see in the pictures of the parts on the Kickstarter page. All of the hard stuff is complete on the prototype, but easy things like battery management and PCB modification aren't complete. They are further along in the production stage.
The battery will be removable, but it is not advised to be taken apart. It's internal to the Casetop, and doesn't have a quick release. There is only 4 screws holding the Casetop together, so it would be easy to replace for a normal XDAer. We're focussing on mods and hacks too.
Someone already has done the software for the cursor, the wonderful Screen Standby on the Google Play Store has that already! And any Android 4.0+ has bluetooth mouse capabilities.
I'll see what I can do to make a video that shows this. I have 2 videos coming up that will show some use examples and stuff.
Thanks!

Excellent, ya Screen Standby is awesome. I love that guy. We used all of what will be used in a Casetop. We even had the phone run down it's battery to 10%, so that includes one full charge of the phone and use for the 30 hours. You've listed them all but add in an HTC Sensation.

Any Good Running Apps yet? without your phone.

Are there any running apps that track your distance?
without having your phone on you?
like its a real hassle to go running with a note 3 in your pocket -.-
Runtastic and runkeeper. Pretty similar but I prefer Runtastic on the 360.

How does runtastic work? Other than Heart Rate monitor, the Runtastic app can't connect to the Moto 360 as a smartwatch. The only options it displays are Sony, Pebble, and Gear Live.

Ah, and now it pops up. It can be confusing as there is an option to "connect a smartwatch," in which the Moto 360 is not an option. Also, for about a day, Android Wear itself was not showing Runtastic as fitness option other than Heart Rate. Now that I've opened it prior to making this post, it displays Runtastic options for a run or a bike ride.

If you have the stone band, that's a legitimate concern. The very first time I went for a *walk* this thing got sweat-stained, and I was barely even sweating. (Not enough that I could've wiped anything off my brow.)

How does it work out the distance as IIRC the Moto 360 doesn't have on board GPS? I'm holding out for the 360 and then I'll sell my Motoactv.
"The application calculates your running stats from the number of steps you take and your step length. If the watch's step sensor detects more/less steps than were taken or if your step length is not uniform then there will an error in the measurements, unfortunately these are errors that cannot be fixed on our end so please do not rate based on this."
UPDATED: two apps working with heart monitor so far
So far, sports tracker pro and endomondo can read data from the heart rate sensor.

I haven't actually. Whenever I access my list if apps which can display heart rate (via Wear Drawer), I can only see Moto Heart Rate and Fit. I haven't used Runtastic to monitor a run as I've been using a treadmill. So if it monitors heart rate, I don't know, as I can't get it to recognize a treadmill run anyway.

Forget about that! Since the watch doesn't feature a GPS module you will never get an even halfway accurate distance measurement.

Thanks, man. It sucks, I just want to use my Moto360 like my FitBit HR. It has potential (step counter + HR monitor). Not sure why they don't make an app for this purpose. The current apps they have for Wear are pointless considering you have to take your phone with you. Completely defeats the purpose.

Faster watch wake

This may be a little nit picky but is there a way to adjust how quick the watch face comes on when you look at it. I have it set to keep the screen off. But when I look at it there is a delay for it to come on.. it's a little over a second... .. anyone else experience this?

Not aware of any way to adjust the speed or sensitivity of the screen wake but mine is definitely quicker than yours. More like 1/4 to 1/2 second for the screen to illuminate.

[Q] Brighter dimmed watchface?

Hi guys,
During the daytime I want the "dimmed" watchface to be a bit brighter. Is there anyway to achieve this? Do you know of a watchface with a brighter dimmed screen?
Thanks!
in "dimmed" mode there is no backlight so u cant't adjust the "brightness".

Like billdanos says, the screen technology is called transflective LCD and it's pretty cool but you can't increase the brightness.

Hard to tell. My approach is to charge SWR50 every 2nd night, and basically nothing changed here. Yet, I was not observing power consumption closely.

I don't use watchmaker but another watch face app: Facer for Android Wear. 2 days-usage is very easy to achieve in my case: always screen-on (reflective screen) + normal usage + power-off in the night (I don't like wear anything when I sleep so I turn it off and left it during the whole night)
Almost 1.8% per hour battery consume is totally fine for me.
Which face from "Watchmaker" seems to be the brightest? I just downloaded it.

Where is the Moto 360 v2 section ?

Hello,
Is it just me or I can't see a forum section dedicated to Moto 360 v2 ? Many users have already received the smartwatch. I would like to ask actual users about battery life, etc. and I just don't know where to ask...
I've been wondering that too. I should be receiving my watch tomorrow, so I'll try to let you know about the battery life. I'm hoping that the 46mm watch will go at least a whole day with ambient mode on.
I have the 42 mm and I wear it from 7 am to 10 pm with ambient mode on and by the end of the day the battery is down to 33%. I don't do much with it except use Moto Body to track steps and heart rate but not during exercise, I have a Microsoft Band that works a lot better for me for that. I have it paired to an iPhone 6 too and have some reconnect issues that appear to be common with iPhone users.

I'm on day 1 with the Moto 360 2nd Gen 46mm. Unplugged at 8:00AM and its now 10:36PM I'm sitting at 60% battery remaining after some pretty heavy use throughout the day. Ambient mode is off but everything else is on. Watch battery estimates I have 22 hrs left based on today usage.
I'm actually a little disappointed with battery life on the 42mm. I'm hoping that today was a fluke, but I can't think of anything that I did out of the ordinary and I didn't really play with it. This is my first full day with it so it's very possibly a fluke.
I took it off the charger around 7:30am and by 3pm I was at 20%. It still lasted until i got home around 6 where it almost died. This is with ambient and gestures turned on. If it won't last through the day with those features on, I'm going to trade up to the 46mm. My nexus 5 was almost dead as well which might mean there was a runaway app. I'm hoping so at least.
