Question Pixel Watch triggers the alarm in shops - Google Pixel Watch

Hello,
I have the problem that my Pixel Watch lets the security system beep at the entrances and exits in various shops.
I've been searched several times to make sure I haven't stolen anything.
My clothes are not the trigger.
Together with a security person from Mediamarkt, I was able to find out that it was 100% the clock.
Does anyone have the same problem?

Yes - even at security checkpoints in Courthouses and other Governmental facilities.
-- The idea is to clasp your hands together and walk slowly as you pass through a security checkpoint.
You can lower the magnetic field that is applied to your watch, just scratch your nose with the watch on your wrist while going through the detector.
Keep in mind that your head sits right in the middle of the detector – where the magnetic field is weaker than at the sides – and generally, less magnetic fields are found around the head area for health reasons.

Thanks for your answer. I am reassured that I am not alone with the problem.
I have not found a contribution to the topic on the Internet.

There is the work around to purchase this and place a very thin layer of aluminum foil within the interior before applying the case.

There is a good chance that we will not see much on this topic.

I'm in Mediamarkt again. Now I have left the watch in the car.
The alarm beeps anyways.
The problem is probably not due to the clock.

I solved the problem. Bought shoes in Barcelona. There was a chip in the shoe sole ...

Haha this happen to me at walmart

Waterproof Your Device

http://golden-shellback.com/
Has anyone here ever tried this out?
you would never be able to 100% waterproof it with the way mics and speakers works today
if you did it would be deaf and mute
Yeah that's what I was thinking but this combined with the invisibleSHIELD would make your device MUCH more protected.
Too good to be be true comes to mind.
I would test this coating on a cheap electrical device and see how it goes.
I could see the electronic parts such as the circuit boards, small parts, wiring, soldered joints, etc. being coated with a special waterproofing material before assembly which would protect them from moisture but waterproofing after the fact, I have my doubts

well, mics and speakers still work as long as there's a medium between the item and your ears/mouth
speaker-> that coating -> air -> your ears

If you read the buy items coated & there guarantee & warranty it doesn't sound that good...

They don't make it waterproof, but splash proof. So they're not claiming anything that's too good to be true.

"Sid dropped his Blackberry into a Bucket of Water."
This is how their ad begins with a huge picture showing the above.
They also show another device half submerged in water.
They are representing their coating as more than just splashproof.
So, they are representing what in my opinion, is too good to be true.
I saw this on TV a while back, the Gadget Show I think it was anyway it worked perfectly, I think they did it with an iPod and a phone and then chucked them in water and they still worked fine.
I wonder what would happen if you coated yourself in it... :/

I don't trust what I see on TV most of the time, when it comes to demonstrations.
Now, if there was an independent laboratory that did tests on this product, that's another story.
If there were members here that were using the process, I would definitely listen to their feedback.
Maybe the company could ask for volunteers to test their product on, as "word of mouth" advertising may bring in alot of revenue. But I'm not raising my hand, just in case it doesn't work.
What is our warranty?:
Golden Shellback guarantees that the devices will be weatherproof for 30 days. The product will be replaced or repaired per our choice when exposed to moisture as outlined in the guarantee. A device that has been fully immersed in water will not be repaired or replaced.

Haha that about sums it up doesnt it?
Weatherproof; They either use false advertising or dont have faith in their product.

How do you figure?
If you put your phone into a ziploc bag, wouldn't you still hear it ring?
Sure, it's quieter, because it takes more power to move plastic bags around than it does to move air around, but saying "deaf and mute" is a little pessimistic...
Seeing is believing. I won't believe until I see it with my eyes.
until then...
...there's a cheaper alternative...
agree - too good - but a bag works...
I'm using this http://www.ortlieb.com/_pdf_en/documentbag.pdf (smallest one) on my touch pro while kayaking.
No problem answering the phone or calling through the bag - and completely waterproof, without voiding any warranty.
Also it is practical to keep it around my neck in its cord - easy to find while checking gps and other software on it.
Not free as a used condom would be, but I think for my purpose it is more practical...

Harald.

[Q] Magnetic Floatation Holder.

Hi there, I am currently making a magnetic floatation holder compatible with any android phone. I recently came across these threads and was wondering if anybody knew how I could shield the internal apparatus from magnetic interference? The phones are currently floating in mid air within the holder box but they refuse to function correctly due to the immensely powerful magnetic field surrounding it. Any advise at all would be greatly appreciated?
Have you tried a rubber lining? That may help...
Tried many linings
Hi, thanks for the speedy response. I have tried everything from Aerospace Aluminium, plastic, rubber and Titanium. The only material that currently works is lead and that has to be 3mm thick which makes it way too heavy. If there is maybe anyone you know that could literally coat each mechanism and distribution board within the device with lead that would be great but also impractical for multiple cellphone compatibility. I am sooo close but yet soo far. I have managed to adjust the magnetic frequency to allow minimal interference but it still leads variable damage in multiple areas. I have recently applied for a patent but I pray I can find an unknown material. I am just missing something but cannot put my finger on it. Anyways thanks for your kind response but I am 2 minutes away from burning everything......Sooo frustrating. If you come up with any ideas pweeez let me know, my brain is fried.
Thanks Guys and Dols
Thanks for your help KT, I managed to get in touch with one of the guys responsible for Maglev train magnetic composite technologies and he agreed to help me for a small percentage of total profits. It will be ready about March next year for initial testing, maybe you guys at XDA can use a few 1hundred units for testing? It seems to me this is the best arena to get a feel for the product? Thanks anyway, I will be looking into it.
???
I'm extremely confused to why u would need this... Even more confused about how u would market them...
Great Toy, Looks Alien.
Don't you just hate scratched cellphone/tablet screens. Well now(4months time in S.A) you can simply throw your phone into the invisible magnetic field and when there is no contact with the ground your face cannot be scratched. When you get into your car, simply plug it into your sig lighter and your phone etc can be held in mid air. No more key scratches, no more make-up marks on your device. And it looks really space age, your glowing Android etc phone hovering in mid air. And it will also charge automatically while in the magnetic spectrum. Use it as a night clock/light and place it on(or rather over) your night stand table.
Well at least I hope people would use this because I have spent an infinite amount of time and energy, not to mention hard capital, on this adventure of mine. The ride has been great and tough at times but hopefully the law of thermodynamics will ensure at least a 60% return on energy invested. The guys at Maglev where ecstatic so I am sure they would not help me out as they have unless they knew it was a sure bet. Anyways, thanks for the constructive criticism.

My 2c (worth even less )
It sounds very cool, and very techy and geeky, however I don't know if I see the mass market potential for this type of device?
Also I have a couple of questions:
Does the phone hold its position once placed in the magnetic field? Or is it able to rotate freely?
What about the potential effects on wristwatches and other non sheilded devices? I don't want to put my phone in a mag field and have my watch go blank.
That being said I wish you luck - hopefully I'm wrong and you can retire on this idea
Spot On
You are absolutely correct, containment, extrapolation, dispersion on a lateral effect and cross intensification are issues that are currently being worked on. As of yet nobody in S.A has the mechanical techniques nor tools that I require to enclose the radial disturbance, only one company in Germany can manage the calibration needed. And this has only recently been developed through discoveries made on the Large Hadron Collider. Fortunately, the guys at Maglev's, ITSC, have a ready made and diverse magnetic operating coil for my device. With ought going into all the technical babble, I have got a free travel package to Germany next month and they say my mind will be blown away when I see the solution they came up with. And, retirement, no way, my brain could not handle being idle for 5 seconds. These guys are brilliant, I gave them blueprints a week ago and they already have a model I need to sign off on. So I am sure all your devices will not be affected in any way. Gonna hit the waves now, have not surfed in 3weeks. I hope I can count on xda to distribute a few working units when I get back? When you guys O.K a device, it's future is certain.....
I'm a novice so this might be stupid. Your focus seems to be on insulation. Have you tried going the opposite way? Maybe construct some sort of golden faraday cage?
Also, If I got one of those testing units, that would be tits.
im not certian a faraday cage would work. but it would definately be worth trying, not gold though (gold wont conduct magentic flux very well), ferrite, iron, anything that conducts magnetism very well with very little remaining magnetic field when the source is removed (there is a property specified for that, but i cant remember the name). had part would be covering the screen and not being an eyesore. im not gonna watch the thread so OP can pm me for a bit more info if they wish.
any snap shots i know it might be a no but i really want to see this very intrested
Hey sorry, been out of town for a few days. No problem, as soon as I got the reworked casings in place I can send you a pic. Just a tad dicey at the moment due to copy right etc. Oh and brilliant, the Faraday cage worked perfectly in my initial testing +-1year ago but it blocked the entire device off and stopped easy insertion of the phone. All the kinks are pretty much sorted, you can throw the phone from 3metres away and the field will capture it. Received a vid from MGLEV tests, it was lank hilarious, I am so stoked my baby is almost sorted. thanks guys for input, how can I get in touch with xda management, want to organize initial releases for +- 1000 members? Just require delivery reception details and a few agreements, no cost to you at xda at all? Thank you, God Bless.
I think this guy is screwing with us. He sound like a back to the future movie.
And you waited all this time to tell us? (read the last date it was posted).
I see what you mean though, kinda too good to be true or, at least, too expensive to buy commercially
This is not too good to be true. The magnetic levitation technique has been demonstrated even with living beings in lab. There are adornments in market that float in free air with magnetic levitation.
http://www.google.com/search?source...pw.r_cp.&fp=200a4278d8f8f451&biw=1024&bih=655
However, I guess it's far fetched to use it for cellphones since the inteference and damage to components will be too high. However, I doubt the authenticity of this post as MagLev trains have little in their design that'd help shielding a mobile phone.
If scratched surfaces annoy you, use a woolen holder.
hmmm any updates?
I'd love to do testing; got like 4 different phones to test with

So, I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this yet, but there is another trinket of info that points to the book cover being actively sensed by this tablet. When poking around in settings, I happened across this little feature.

Man, Samsung does not make it easy. They need to support their products more. iPad 5 will have about a million accessories all over the place.

Samsung has had a terrible launch for its S-Note line. I've had my Note 3 for over a week and still no sign of official accessories anywhere whether in-store or at Amazon.
Same for the note 10.1 2014.
If you want to charge these high prices you better provide an apple-esque experience and that means no headaches for anything including finding accessories.

Is that advertised anywhere? No.
Does Samsung's official site list any covers or cases? No.
They suck so bad at accessories. It's ridiculous.

I can confirm it does wake the tablet. I don't have the smart cover, but I do have a keyboard with a "smart cover"that turns it on and off. Placing it over the screen, or even on the back, trips the magnetometer, putting the tablet to sleep. Removing it wakes it up into a quick note/dashboard type of program.
I bought a sleeve that is actually for an iPad and daynote does work. It's not working every time but every now and again I'm presented with a special screen after removing the note from its sleeve.
Best Buy tells me it will be in stock this week. Either with their Monday shipment or Thursday shipment.
We'll see. Given that their Samsung Experience employees didn't even know it was releasing the week before it did, I don't put much stock into what they say.

Before you try any magnet cases, test if the digitizer survives it. i had one on my note 8.0 and it had a big impact on the wacom digitizer, when drawing i would get close to 10mm of offset or the area around the magnet didn't work at all. When i noticed this i immediately performed a little surgery and now the case is a dumb piece of leather. Luckily i noticed it pretty quickly so i got no permanent damage. I'm not sure if permanent damage CAN be done with such a weak magnet, but look out

Wow seriously? This kind of scares me as I am using the Moko case. But you know I don't think the Note 8.0 was made to be utilized with a magnet. Seeing that the Note 10.1 2014 is made to wake up with the use of a magnet, I think they made have designed it to be magnet friendly.
I could eb wrong, because I returned my Note 8.0
Yes, you might be right but look out. You dont want a tablet thats at a higher price because of something that breaks because of you not using a correct case.
Ps. In the second sentence "you" is meant for everyone and not to offend Slim

On the Note 3, the "View" cover uses a Hall effect sensor I have read.
What I noticed about this cover is that it seems to cover the camera when it is folded over the back??

Nope, they don't really know release dates on anything. I've been asking the Samsung guy about Note 3 cases, he tells me a day, and they never come in.
Was just over at BB today, asking him if they had the cases, when another lady came up and wanted to know also. WTF, is up with Samsung and the slow releases of these accessories for both Note 3 and 10.1??

Heh! Yeah you're right!
Here's what I was thinking when I said that.
The magnet can be on either side. So not necessarily on the cover. "Could" be steel on the cover, but probably not.
Like for instance, I am putting a hall sensor on a Motorcycle presently. The magnet is in the sensor itself. The trigger wheel is steel.
So steel goes through the field and causes the trigger.
But it seems that the magnet here "should" be on the cover. Otherwise all steel would trigger the sensor and screw with the display.
I did run a magnet near my screen and couldn't get it to switch even after fooling with the S-View settings.

Sony Smartband Bad Wristband Design

The very small prongs on the wristband button are completely inadequate. The wristband is very easily dislodged.
I have modified mine to ensure that I don't lose it after a friend lost theirs. A quick search on Google reveals that they are not alone.
Is Sony going to admit their design is flawed and issue a revised wristband?

I've had mine on for about 2 months without dislodging. I am CrossFit athlete, 5 workouts a week.
Mine got knocked off my wrist twice before I finally modified it. I was lucky that I was at home and that I noticed it falling off my wrist. The modification I made has stopped it falling off on another occasion.
Movement (such as Cross Training) is not the issue, the problem is when the band is knocked against something. For example if you were to put your hand into your jeans pocket to get some change out, if the band catches the edge of your pocket it will easily be dislodged.
Note that Sony is currently offering a 50% discount on this item, perhaps they are trying to shift the stock of the current model before offering a revised design.
I workout as well and have been swimming a lot these days but i never had problems.
As previously stated it is not working out that is the issue. This is not just a pure exercise device it is meant to be worn 24 hours a day.
The issue is that when the strap is knocked against something it is far too easily dislodged.
Do you wear anything else on the same wrist as the smartband?

I understand what you are trying to say, but i really haven't had this problem at all. Can't really see how it could happen with normal daily use.
It has happened to quite a few people. As I said mine has fallen off twice, in both cases it was knocked against something fairly lightly.
A friend completely lost theirs and has no idea how or where it happened.
A quick Google will take you to a widely syndicated article where the person reviewing the Smartband lost it before they had a chance to comment on battery life.
Further Google research will reveal quite a few other people who have lost their Smartband, in every case they blame the inadequate design of the clasp.
Do you wear anything on the same wrist as the Smartband?

Solved. Batteries explode due to pressure.

Wow... If this 'is' legit, every Note 7, old and new replacement is vulnerable regardless.
but, what ammount of presure is needed?
you cant get more than sea level pressure in normal circumstances, a little more at 1.5 m deep, so, how is that pressure causes this?
So no putting your phone in your back pockets!

Huh? Even with pressurized cabins, the air pressure inside airplanes is much less than on the ground. Airliners keep their cabin pressure equivalent to the pressure at about 7000' above ground.
I don't fly much so i can't put more input except plane got pressure... but add that with quality battery and any other possible issue. One thing my not do anything but add each issue in... boom?
Science tid bit - Damn near everything explodes when subjected to pressure.. lol we all are screwed..
If you apply direct pressure crushing anodes and cathodes together or puncture any LITHIUM category battery from any phone, device, or anything else, it will burst into flames.
This wasn't very scientific testing. This is WELL known.
If you view their actual testing procedures, they removed the back cover and did it directly on the battery. They did not show the same test with the back on the device.
FYI< the pressure referring is not atmospheric. They applied direct pressure through a hardened rod.
Bloomberg stated a month ago that the Note 7 battery was "squeezed" into the Note 7 body. This is very disturbing as it suggests a real design flaw. Oh dear Samsung.
Whats the conclusion, are the replacment note 7's an safer than the originals?
