Can anyone confirm if this device is bootloader unlockable and if so which variant?

ONly china variant is out currently (31st jan) (unlockable) so obviously no one can tell you about global variant
Edit:
Finger print reader becomes disabled after unlock
You will need a cheap plastic device from ebay to recalibrate the fingerprint reader and it will work again after that (or relocking)

So you originally stated: "Redmagic phones have always been bootloader unlockable." which is great and what I thought but this is what I got every time I rephrased/reworded my question to thier support team:
"Dear Valued RedMagic Customer,
Thank you for contacting us.
We are sorry to inform you that we do not have any device with an unlocked bootloader.
Once we hear back from you, we will certainly help you with your query as soon as possible.
Best Regards!"
All the different ways I attempted to get an answer:
"I understand that the bootloaders always shipped locked. Does any variant/region of the Red Magic 8 Pro have the capability of being bootloader unlocked by the end user? via adb/fasboot commands EX: "fastboot oem unlock"."
"Are any of the RedMagic 8 Pro series bootloader unlockable? And if so, what model and regions?"
"The Red Magic 7 can be OEM unlocked (bootloader unlocked). Can I please be connected with a tech at this point?"
The last one was an attempt to get away from customer service but still got the generic response.

Hi, you can unlock the BL in the fastboot, this has been confirmed in the China variant.
Then you may loose finger print data, so better unlock the bl without any settings.

Confirmed OEM unlocking is allowed for US model.
Source: in my hands

OEM unlocking is also possible on EU model, I have it. However, it voids your warranty.

There is no EU/US/CA Specific models. They all fall under one global category.

So then why did the seller on Ali tell me the global version is locked? Answers are all over the place regarding whether the global variant is unlockable or not. If what you're saying is correct then it should be unlockable.

They're all unlockable.

because in china its normal for sellers to unlock bootloader and flash a global rom, so he just means, no he sells a stock phone thats not been unboxed and flashed, but the phone is unlockable.

I know that this next question were asked before, but i keep not understanding much about it: if i revert back the root completely (unroot the phone, lock the oem and delete "third party apps" like magisk, etc.) will my warranty be back? i am talking about the redmagic 8 pro void specifically. Can someone help me understanding this? i have searched on internet about this and they all say that simply it depends on manufacturers to "detect" if the warranty was void (even if you unroot and lock oem and all).... Thank you in advance

Unlockable Bootloader?

Anyone hear anything on this yet?
Haha you have been a little bit faster than me xD Would have been my question as well, are there any information about this?
Razer already stated it would be an unlocked bootloader. Can't find video but it's mentioned in one of the first hands on

Uhhh these are great news! Would be nice if they had a similar warranty policy concerning this as OnePlus...

To me, that sounds more like that it is going to be unlockable but it won't shipped unlocked.
I saw somewhere the bootloader can be unlocked via the developer options menu? iirc In a menu though..

It ships _carrier unlocked_ (sim).
Bootloader is unlocked by the user in dev options on the phone, should the user so choose to do so. Voids the warranty.
Rooting the phone is up to the user, but also voids the warranty, as the reply in the image says.

There will maybe a option to enable unlocking the bootloader.
This will not unlock the bootloader, it will only enable the command to unlock it I think.
Like on the oneplus.
If you live in the EU, unlocking the bootloader and rooting the phone - wont void the warranty, if you have a hardware related fault.
I do find the EU has better consumer protection than the US.
What companies can do here while taking your money? Uh ya, that's one reason I bet the USA is becoming a big laughing stock of the world.

YMMV But from what I've seen with a few other companies, if the repair is hardware related and not software they almost never actually care if its bootloader locked or not. Can't say Razer/Nextbit would be the same though.
Ya I've not dealt with razer for the laptops. I know for my mouse and keyboard record, they're good on responding, synapse updates happen fast enough to almost be annoying, hardware seems decent, though about 20% fails after the first year. (though I found out later the mouse doesn't actually fail, it's electric "char" that builds up on the metal switch internally because it's so thin)
Got the phone otw though, pretty excited. Can't wait for the analytics to start trickling in to see what we can do with this beast.
I have one already. It works. Just tried it. Bootloader unlocked.

Sweet! Thanks for uploading this.
Now if we can figure out how to root it while we wait for a TWRP Port.
Looks like all we need is a copy of the boot.img. Then we can patch it using Magisk.

That's not how you unlock the bootloader, that setting is part of the process and enables the ability for you to unlock the bootloader via fastboot.
I've made a thread on how to unlock the bootloader and linked it below

You would not be able to select that option if the bootloader was unable to be unlocked. It unlocks the first key. If that key is unlocked, then fastboot oem unlock bootloader can work. So it is valid proof that it's unlockable.

Right, I didn't dispute that but he said "Bootloader unlocked" which at that point, it was not. If it was, that setting would be greyed out and it would say "Bootloader is already unlocked"

soft bricked redmi note 8 pro‏

my problem is that i flashed my RN8P with MIUI 12.0.5.0 manually using mi flash tool, and i accidentally checked on clean_all_lock for more security reasons. This led me to a bricked phone and stuck on the recovery with a message " this miui version can't be installed on this device".
Before flashing i didn't know that i have the chinese version of RN8P and the bootloader was already unlocked by the seller and flashed with a global ROM.
I didn't even know what bootloader is, but it's been a week since this happened and I never stopped searching for a solution. I removed the back cover to do the EDL method then I found that I must have an authorized account to flash it, this where I lost hope and became clueless. Note that my phone is bound to my mi account.
I wish that you can help me.
i'm also facing the same problem, i accidentally choose checked on clean_all_lock. is there any solution for this problem? thanks.

Question bootloader on android 12

hi. i got interested in this phone and seems to have decent rom support. since the last update i have some doubts with unlocking bootloader:
first, people is panicking this update broke many things, and users are not sure bootloader is unlockable anymore. this is a must for me, please confirm me if that got ruined for this update or still works.
second, people also mentions about a code and i'm confused. the pinned guide says is as simple as one command, but users report they are being requested an special code the phone gives you. chow does this work? if i want to get the phone from a previous owner would it mean i can't access that code? what oneplus asks for exactly?
thanks for your time
I don't know what code you are talking about. Just follow the guide, be sure what you are doing and be sure how to get things right if something is going south.

can you please explain under what conditions is won't be unlocable or what oems don't allow it?
this has the upmost importance to me. its super important it being possible to unlock. the phones that dont allow it, is it because updates, fabrication region, time they were made or other factors?

I couldn't tell you all the OEM's that wouldn't allow unlocking, I think T-Mobile in the US is one but mine (from Three UK) isn't limited in that way.
If you reboot to bootloader and run "fastboot oem unlock" after enabling that setting above and it fails then your bootloader is locked by oem

Generally, if the phone is SIM-locked the "OEM Unlocking" will be greyed-out and you can't toggle it until you SIM-unlock your phone.
On T-Mobile, for example, once you SIM-unlock the phone, you run a command in Fastboot to get your phones unlock code.
Once you have your bootloader's unlock code, you submit a request on OnePlus' Unlock Token page.
Devices bought directly from OnePlus should be unlockable out of the box.
Hope this helps!

Attempted to relock the bootloader to recover L1, but failed.
used LMSA for global rom update but it bricked it. Could not find Chinese ROM to recover.
so I flashed the Treble GSI CAOS11 and it works fine.
The DRM is still L3 as the bootloader is still unlocked. MAGISK did not try.
Do the Tab P11 accessories work for it? Looks good as an upgrade I find the P11 a tad sluggish at times and Snapdragon 680 efficiency over 662 looks awesome

For me the following worked (tried with CAOS11, Lineage 19.1 and Pixel Experience Plus):
Go into fastboot by holding power + one of the volume keys
Select recovery mode
Factory reset
Go back into fastboot mode
On the connected PC:
fastboot --set-active=a
fastboot erase system
fastboot flash system rom.img
Go back into recovery and factory reset again for good measure
No matter what I tried though I couldn't get it to boot from slot B.
Sorry for my poor English.
I have a question about flash to global version from china version.
Just use rescue function of LRSA to global version?
need unlocked bootloader?
anybody did it?

Question LE2127 Bootloader unlock issues and ROM flash

It's been 9 years since I last did anything like this and resources seem a bit scattered so I would like a push in the right direction to get my phone where I want.
My phone is on LE2127_11_f.27 and want to unlock the bootloader, install twrp, and flash Lineage OS but I'm running into an issue with bootloader unlocking.
The device is carrier unlocked and I have a token file provided from oneplus but it doesnt seem to be working.
OEM unlocking is on but I get this error when trying to unlock it.

Im guessing the file they sent me is wrong because I had to communicate with customer support as my serial number was 7 digits long as opposed to 8 digits.
With this in mind, Ive also seen posts saying I don't need to have a token to unlock.
Should I use magisk to unlock it instead? Are there advantages/disadvantages to it? (it being a dependency, adding a safety net, etc.)
Finally, what should I do in what order? I can figure out the details of execution but I want to make sure everything will go smoothly.

How old is the phone? You should not have been able to get an unlock token with only 7 digits in a serial number. Been there and done that. Again how old is the phone?
Also did you buy the phone from T-Mobile, and is TMO your cell carrier? I can get you where you need to be, but need the information.
I can link you to a TMO to GLO MSM Tool, then you can unlock bootloader without a token, then install lineageOS, install TWRP and magisk.

I can link you to a TMO to GLO MSM Tool, then you can unlock bootloader without a token, then install lineageOS, install TWRP and magisk.

I will give you the link for the MSM Tool to convert you from TMO to GLO Thursday because until then I will be on the road. It will convert your TMO to GLO so you can unlock the bootloader. Patience!
If you don't want root, you don't have to root to install LineageOS.
I will have it for you Wednesday!
In the meantime, disable driver signing on PC, reboot PC, download the latest OnePlus and Qualcomm USB drivers and install them and then reboot PC. Then you will be ready to convert the phone!

My power button is not working. Is there any command to exit from edl mode?
yes there is. but edl itself has a timeout, so it won't accept commands
