Question Hydrogen to oxygen - OnePlus 11

After changing from from hydrogen to oxygen, I understand that it's possible to lock the bootloader which is nice, but will the model number change to the global version? Also will OTA still work?

Unlocking boot-loader twill not cause work to be oem to be disabled, or firmware to be flashed. If you flash unofficial firmware, then OTA updates will stop.

Does oxygen os count as unofficial?

OnePlus created oxygen os, so I doubt it.

any variant of OOS, even rooted, still receives OTA updates
Shouldnt be an issue

Update bootloader and radio?

I've updated Cyanogenmod, Gapps, and TWRP on my 5x. Can I update the bootloader and radio too?
i think yes but for best results i would prefere if you'll make a whole update (including everything like system vendor etc... but wipe all of your data).
Remember to backup youre whole data (including sdcard) before flashing any new system images.

If they are out of date yes you can, they need to be done with fastboot though. They are not able to be updated through recovery.
Where can I find the latest bootloader and radio versions for 5x?
Do Android OTA updates take care of this automatically?

OTA's include what ever parts need to be updated.
You can extract them from the full images.
Or you can thanks @nathanchance who as be kind enough to already have done the heavy lifting here

Cyanogenmod only contains the OS and kernel.
You still need to update the bootloader, radio and vendor yourself.
I've updated my bootloader and radio but updating "vendor" is new to me. Does that work like updating the bootloader and radio?

Or through the recovery,

Downloading MTC19T_vendor.img now, thank you.
Does the same thing hold true as for bootloader and radio in that Android OTA will update it automatically but if I'm using Cyanogenmod then I must flash it myself and I should do so for any other devices I have which also run Cyanogenmod?

Yes, If you boot into bootloader it will tell you your radio and bootloader versions so you will be able to tell if they have been updated. And your vendor needs to match your rom. I assume CM updates there base every month like aosp but as I don't use CM I can't help you here.

Yes but only the 5X and 6P have separate vendors that you need to worry about updating.

Does flashing by fastboot has any afffect to the ROM or Root state ?
Is there anything I have to respect ?!?
Is it safe to me to update bootloder and radio for prevention purposes (not facing anything I associate to)
or should I relax and do this job next when clean flashing ROM as there is no big benefit at all ?
Would be great if any experienced fellow may comment my issues.
Maybe this will help even some other here on follow to better understand how it works. Thanks.

In general it won't affect your rom or root state.
It is relatively safe to update bootloader and radio. Just be extra careful when you flash bootloader to make sure you don't pull the cable, have a corrupted file, have the have wrong model, run out of batteries, etc. If bootloader flash goes bad it becomes more difficult to load software.
I'm of the opinion that if you don't have problems don't change anything, but I understand the urge to have everything up to date.

Nougat "arrived" for HTC 10 yesterday - bootloader and root Qs

Got the HTC 10 a few days ago. Didn't do much with it except unlocking bootloader and rooting, while on marshmallow. Saw the nougat being available now, as a software update.
Questions:
- would the bootloader unlock stick upon nougat update?
- would the rooting method used with marshmallow still work? I assume once updating to nougat I will loose root, but I don't know if the supersu without encryption still works, or if nougat adds something that would prevent using the latest beta supersu

The official HTC update to Nougat for the US unlocked/developer is not available yet. If you're talking about the Viper10 ROM, yes there are some issues with SuperSu. The ROM is rooted with PHH instead. Do as you wish, but my approach is to wait until HTC releases the official ROM, flash that which will put you back to stock with the latest firmware, THEN flash TWRP, and so on. This way you give Chainfire and others time to get up to speed with new versions of SuperSu, and so on. The bootloader will remain unlocked. S-Off will remain as-is etc. Nevertheless, if you want to dive right in you may want to check this out:

??? The OFFICIAL Nougat was available at least since yesterday, 11/24/2016. My unlocked US phone detected it in the regular software update, and I downloaded it.

Not for me, I'm on Viper10 which means I don't get OTAs. I keep checking HTC's US website. They haven't posted it yet. Should be there soon. Thx for the heads up.

Yes you will

Asus and bootloader unlocking

I know that the 5z can have it's bootloader unlocked, my concern is with the updates, is there anyway to keep getting updates after you root the phone.

Same as other devices I'd imagine. Flash a full OTA in fastboot, not incremental. Then flash root again.
Or flash stock recovery, update, then TWRP and root.
This is of course with TWRP support.
Unlocking the BL does not have an affect on OTAs.

ah, I was going off of a reddit post about the zenfone 4.
"I get security updates every 2 or 3 months and they're generally about one month behind. Bootloader unlock has a problem that they change the name of the phone or something so you can no longer use the official updates. This would not be a problem if there was a rom community but there isn't as of now (at least with z4p)"

I'm also curious about this. My current method is to just use the MSM tool whenever I want to go back to stock but it is definitely time consuming. As far as I know TWRP is still early in development and a lot of things that should normally work dont work perfectly
I have definitely flashed OOS through TWRP (from AA to BA, not a custom rom), but haven't had any issues since I did it. That being said I would assume the steps would be to flash, factory reset, then root etc.

hm that is great to hear, however, when I attempt to flash oos 11.2.7.7AA (from oos 11.2.4.4AA) I get an error saying that I am missing /system_ext, /product, and /odm partitions. did you do anything other than simply install oos via twrp, because I am not sure why I am getting this error

To my knowledge you cannot flash from 2.4.4AA to 2.7.7AA because it is an incremental update, at least through twrp. (I've never flashed anything but full roms via twrp). I actually fully switched to the EU firmware from the Global firmware because of the global version seemingly going fully to OTA updates and not providing full ROMs like the EU version.

no you are right, but I have the full update via oxygen updater, so these errors of missing partitions are extremely frustrating.

Ah ****. Had no idea. Might flash back to aa if they're releasing full updates. Only reason I switched to eu was that reason. Definitely weird you're running into issues with it though

yeah man we have to wait insane long for AA full updates. yeah my issue is very frustrating and I've tried everything short of msm, I just don't see how it is possible that twrp reports I am missing those partitions yet my phone boots, but slot B is f'd, and I can't flash full AA update either through twrp or local upgrade.
Okay so if we do flash the full ota through recovery what's the correct process on this to keep twrp and magisk without needing a PC to push the recovery and root back onto the device?
