Question If you want custom roms which is better to get OnePlus 11 or Pixel 7 Pro? - OnePlus 11

Specs wise I would like to get OnePlus 11 but I've been seeing some info that maybe custom roms won't be coming. Any guidance is appreciated.

The Pixel 7 Pro definitely has more development. OnePlus made it difficult to recover from bricking so many developers have passed them up. A OnePlus 11 running LineageOS or AOSP based ROM would be amazing though.

Get a OnePlus 9 Pro. Comparable CPU, faster GPU with better support than Mali, display is kind of a wash (it's dimmer on the OnePlus but people tend to think the colors are better than the Pixel 7 Pro), much better modem, $600 new on Amazon or you can get them pretty cheap on Swappa and there are a ton of custom ROMs as well as unbricking tools available in case you need them. Don't buy the T-Mobile model though, you'll be hating life. Just get the regular unlocked model, LE2125.
Peep the OnePlus 9 Pro forum and see just how much dev support the thing has.
OnePlus 9 Pro
The OnePlus 9 Pro is a 6.7" phone with a 1440x3216p 120Hz display. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset is paired with 8/12GB of RAM and 128/256GB of storage. The main camera is 48+8+50+2MP and the selfie camera is 16MP. The battery has a 4,500mAh capacity.

If you want privacy, Pixel 7 Pro with Graphene OS.
Oneplus 9 pro is still great.

So far nobody is recommending OP11. So you guys don't feel very confident about OP11 custom rom prospects?

Not without a recovery tool being available. Just look at the 10 Pro and 10T before it that didn't have one either.

As long as there is nothing like MSM Tools, noone will recommend Oneplus'es new flagship phone Oneplus 10 Pro upwards.

OnePlus 9 pro seems like it'll be the only OP device with support for ROMs. I like the 9 pro. It's been a good phone. Soon as I can sell my S22 ultra I'll be going back to it more than likely.

Development potential oft redmi note 8 / redmi note 8 pro

Hi everybody,
I am considering to buy this phone, (rmn8 pro), however it ships with the mediatek G90T processor. in the past my understanding was that ROM development for mediatek based phones is troublesome due to missing sources. Can anyone confirm this issue for me?
Would it therefore be better to buy the non pro version of rthe rmn8 shipping with an snapdragon 655 processor?
Yeah I'd like to know it too.
OK - so it seems that if we want custom ROMs we should go with the non pro version.
Based on xiaomis history and the development activity for the redmi note 3 snapdragon and redmi note 3 mediathek there is a considerable difference.
Furthermore it appears that it took 3 years for xiaomi to release the kernel source for the rmn 3 and the rmn 2 mediatek version. In general it appears that the source release is up to the OEMS - e.g. Xiaomi. Mediathek is known to only distribute the source to customers or people who are willong to pay.
This is kind of disappointing as the pro version of the rmn8 is quite a bit better.
Any other opinions ?
I want the pro version but mtk processor no way ill be buying as I want gcam and custom roms.
I would suggest you to wait for the Global launch because Xiaomi might launch RN8Pro with Snapdragon soc..

That could be the case, but I guess it won't happen as they try to create some hype around the new helio chips.
If Xiaomi released source code for kernel, there is chance for start develop custom ROMs and kernels, but SoC from Qualcomm Snapdragon still more universal. I think MediaTek will get custom ROMs/kernels but Gcam will be more problematic. In my opinion XDA members should try create better support for MediaTek SoC. Why ? MediaTek Helio G90T it's seriously impressive SoC with some more performance than SD730G.
The phone is very, very good

The problem is that MTK doesn't fully release the sources of their SoC's that's why it has low development here in XDA.

Exactly my thoughts.... Redmi Note 7 pro has lot of developments going on and it is better than Redmi Note 8.
Redmi note 8 has Samsung sensor which does not have much gcam support.
Redmi note 7 pro has Sony sensor which works flawlessly with gcam.

Well about development, sure note 7 Pro may have better Dev support coz it's an older device but as far as gcam support is concerned, you may be wrong, I'm using note 8 and it's working flawless. At least it's giving much better camera results when compared to poco

Dev Support

Am I correct to assume that as far as heavy attention from devs, moving forward from here the Pro models will be the ones getting the most attention? The most development? I don't know how the regular 7 looks like as far as dev support but when I had that phone for a few weeks before selling it off it had very little. I'm curious what has dev's attention right now, even though this 7T has only been out a short while. Are they going to be mostly focused on the Pro models like the 7 Pro and 7T Pro?

Most of development will be unified the only major difference being the display, also both phones will get equal attention due to the region wise availability and non pro series being cheaper

Looks to me that the 7 Pro got the lion's share of attention compared to the regular 7.
Feels as dev support for oneplus getting less for every generation of devices, now with android 10 and its non RW system i think dev support will be dropping more than before

The case was different with 7 pro, Oneplus 7 was launched in very limited markets, also it was launched before 7 pro, as 7 pro was their main flagship last year and it got all of the hype and availability that attention to 7 pro is justified.
This timeit is almost the opposite , 7T is their main focus than 7T pro, that is cleary apparent due to the fact they have only one storage variant of 7T pro which indicates limited production supply.

If the 7T was just a few cm SHORTER (display) it would be the perfect Android phone, IMO. Perfect as far as balance between features and price.

Are there any chances that redmi note 8 pro will get custom rom support

i am thinking to buy either redmi note 8 pro or poco f1 for a friend of mine. The poco f1 has a great support from custom rom developers but on the redmi side there has been some problems. Even miui.eu stopped supporting redmi note 8 pro and there has been some problems with twrp. So which is a better buy, redmi note 8 pro or poco f1.
I was thinking to ask the same. Since xiaomi.eu dropped support this week I am pretty sure this is dead device from that point of view. I am giving back my RN8 Pro to vendor and go with MI9 SE instead. Better display, better camera, smaller, lighter and for the same price..
Maybe GSI:s will work well for it. Seem to be some people that got them running.
i think no...if bricked its so hard to flash..need authorized account...this why no development
I was interested on this device but ended up ordering a regular Snapdragon Note 8. Mediatek just can't get it yet. Maybe in the future.
But yeah, for now avoid Mediatek devices if you want to mod then. It's a sad reality, and it has been true for many years. Hope it changes someday.

Buying 7T now

Bros, what you guys thinking of buying 7T now? My main criteria is custom ROM development support but only OmniRom and AOSiP (alpha) is there now. Since four models are released in a very short period this year and the 7 Pro is the one with so many custom ROMs like about 15+. None of the other have even more than 3 (OP 7). I want to buy the new one very soon because my current device has fallen from a very height and many parts need to be replaced.
I'm surprised at the lack of development myself, but I assume it's because of how new Android 10 is and the whole issue with TWRP. Might be the same on other Android 10 devices. With that said, I'm pretty happy with rooted OxygenOS atm -- even if other ROMs were available, I'm not totally sure I'd switch over.
The price for a new 7T and pre-owned 7 Pro is the same here. The size and weight of 7 Pro is a bit larger that's why I'm thinking of 7T but lack of custom ROMs is pulling me away. My current Z2 has large development support that's why I can't think of anything without custom ROM support. Another option is to buy a new K20 Pro for a lower price. Or a pre-owned 6T (same price as the new K20 Pro).
Bros, decided to buy a pre-owned 7T 8GB 128GB for $400. Found out that it has almost everything I like and doesn't have something I hate. I hope the development support will pick up anytime soon ?
Just got my 7T!!! And it's an amazing device.. ??
Yeah, I just bought a used 7t. Really thought I would go for the 7 Pro, but having looked into it, I'm not sure why anyone would. The 7t has all of the best bits of the 7 Pro [emoji106][emoji3]

Yes bro, 7T has almost everything which I wanted and lacks only a very few things. Like it has a
+ non-popup camera so faster fact unlocking
+ 90Hz of course
+ stereo speakers
+ 3 cameras with a wider one and now with a super-macro mode
+ OIS
+ less weight compared to 7 Pro
+ 855+
and pretty much everything a flagship needs. The only thing I miss is the QHD display. I have a VR/AR device so I wanted to use it for watching movies like in a theatre. The QHD display has less pixelated view compared to fHD for this use. But compared to other specs it is not a deal.

Question [CLOSED] Opinion About 9 Pro And Is It Better Than 8 Pro ?

Is this device worth buying right now with OOS13 already released ? Is battery timing fine on OOS 13 ? How will you rate OnePlus 9 Pro as compare to OnePlus 8 Pro ? I also heard that camera of OnePlus 8 Pro is better than OnePlus 9 Pro but I don't know if it is true.
I wouldn't recommend any oneplus phone anymore. What they did with the "merge" with oppo and their garbage color os is unacceptable, for me that was the nail in the coffin.
A13 is fine. OP9 is the last OPs with a public MSM, so it'll probably have the most support long into the future unlike the newer OPs.
If you want to buy a OnePlus device, this is pretty much it.

Yes, it is, despite what the cryers and naysayers have to say about OnePlus (some of which is valid, I'll admit). Stay away from the 10 series, as it doesn't have a publicly available MSM tool to recover from bad flashes, which is why there's no custom ROM development for the 10 series. Might also apply to the 11 series, too, we'll see. The 9 Pro, by contrast, has healthy third-party support, so it'll be usable for a long time to come. (I'd be inclined to say the same about the 8 Pro, though I've never used it.)

I wasn't going for 10 series anyway. I asked which one is better between 8 pro and 9 pro. I have decided to buy a 9 pro.

Good choice. I know you were deciding between the 8 Pro and 9 Pro; I only mentioned the 10 series just to contrast it with the 9 Pro's healthy third-party development. I was personally hoping to get a 10 Pro a little while back, but its lack of third-party development pushed me away from it (I got a refurbished 9 Pro off Amazon for a good price instead).
The 9 Pro still rocks on XDA with Development. I sold my 10 Pro since it had no development at the time...
I have both, I bought the 9 Pro because the 8 pro broke the screen, I can say that Only I noticed difference in the cameras, the 9 pro is better in this matter.
Just bought a used OnePlus 9 Pro for 340 USD in clean condition.
