Root for May update

I keep looking through a lot of threads and googling root for the pixel but am not seeing if you can root the pixel XL with the may update yet.... Can someone clarify for me if it is possible? And if so, can you point me to instructions on how to do it? Thank you so much
It is not currently possible for VZW devices. I haven't done a ton of research on the unlocked device but I do think root is possible.
If you're unlocked then you simply flash supersu zip in recovery and flash the boot image patch right after. If you're locked and on anything after 7.1 with a Verizon pixel then you're sol. If you're unlocked then you can flash away.
Can I just simply from a factory img bootloader unlocked pixel xl....use the fastboot boot to twrp.img and then flash supersu2.79 and be completely factory with factory recovery but have root?

One extra step after the May update.
After you install SU 2.79 RC3 while in TWRP...before you reboot....install the zip from the first post in the thread below.

Unrooting Razer Phone Question

Quick question for the masses if I'm rooted with a locked bootloader with just magisk with the patched boot image and no twrp how do I restore to complete stock? Do I need to unlock bootloader first then flash all.bat MR3 and then relock bootloader?
Thanks
Should be able to flash the stock images with a locked bootloader. Unlocked just allows flashing of custom images to an extent.
Wait you can root this phone without TWRP?

The instructions that are on the site with the factory images says you have to unlock it to flash the factory images.

How can I root my OnePlus 7T 10.3.1.HD65AA ?

I tried unlocking the bootloader and flash magisk and twrp but failed. Please guys help me how can I root my device with magisk and twrp/any adb recovery.
I'm very new at this stuff, and it's my first OnePlus too, so I'm little bit of scared right now....
I have 10.0.8 HD65AA and just unlocked the bootloader with fastboot oem unlock and booted the patched boot image (don't flash!) With fastboot boot patched_img and installed magisk directly. There's already a couple of guides here for you to follow
I used this guide:

Magisk Rooting by patching boot.img

Hello,
I would like to root my Mi Max 3. The bootloader is already unlocked. Can I just flash the magisk-patched-boot.img or do I need to do something first?

[HELP] How do I root my XT1952-1 (Android 9)

Hi everyone ,
I wandered for months in this forum but I didn't really find how to root my device. There are some tutorial for the "1952-4" but it's not my device. I really don't want to do risky things flashing wrong files. At this point I don't even know if my model can be rooted.
Here are useful infos :
Device : Moto G7 Play XT1952-1
Firmware : Android 9 (security patch december, 1st 2018)
Build : PPY29.68-28
Bootloader unlocked : YES
At this point, what am I supposed to do ? Is there a TWRP image that would work for sure ?
Thank you.
I managed to root my xt1952-4 but I couldn't use the methods on here as I would have TWRP and Magisk root but would lose wifi. So I decided to install magisk, extract the Boot.img file from the rom and patch it with magisk. I flashed it back using "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and now I have root and working wifi but no recovery.

Interesting, thanks.
I don't know if I can risk doing that on my XT1952-1 though, you never know how it'd behave.
If somebody successfully rooted XT1952-1, please let me know
