Question Simple timer/stopwatch app with always-on screen, no sound - Google Pixel Watch

I'm looking for a simple timer app that enables always-on screen while it's running, and is completely silent.
Does such a thing exist for Pixel Watch? I've tried a few but no luck.

You best bet is to gather your thoughts > search the Playstore for any app related to what you are looking for > search for the apk for that particular app > sideload the apk to the Pixel Watch.

Well, I've already done that and tried a few, but haven't quite found what I want. Hence asking here.

Thanks for the suggestion, but...
I have the same issue. The path to the settings on mly phone does not exist as typed above. I do find:
Settings>Device>Accessibililty>Vision>Talkback.
Talkback is off, still having the issue.
I've looked through the other menus (only at main level), and do not find a Personalization option.
If you really want for the calculator to stop talking:
Settings - Device - Accessibility then under Services switch off Keeper Fastfill
I use Keeper a lot for auto login so switching this off is not an option for me.

INteresting. Doesn't turn it off for me. I had Keeper disabled. So I re-enabled it, turned off Keeper Fast Fill, still get numbers announced.
Disable calculator and download the one in play store called calcu far nicer than stock.

Actually I have already downloaded one. Calcu looks very nice. I was thinking it didn't have a memory , but, the pull down looks like it will serve for that.
For some reason I can't disable the stock calculator. But it's no big deal.

I use nova launcher which gives me the option to hide apps from drawer. Like I use ex dialer too so I hide the phone and contacts.
Do you have greenify installed by any chance? That was causing the issue for me and uninstalling fixed it.

Also, two other calculator i recommend: mobicalc and myscript calculator.
Yes what mdemirha said. It was greenify making it speak. Greenify also turned off s voice talk back for my phone. Uninstalled and both went back to normal

Not worth it to me. Keep Greenify, and download a different calculator. (I personally don't use s-voice)
Mine's doing this too and I don't have Greenify installed. Went through accessibility settings and couldn't find anything that fixed it. I downloaded a new calculator, so it isn't a big deal. Still wondering if this is a bug, a setting, or a conflicting app.
Maybe if those that are experiencing this issue can post their a installed apps it may help?
I suspect that if accessibility is enabled for particular softwares like Keeper or LastPass the issue with the calculator pops up. I'm sure there are other apps that could cause it as well. Since I needed lastpass more than the stock calculator I installed calc+ and use that instead. I ran it through mw pen enabler to process its apk to support multi window mode.

for me, it was keeper. The thing about it was that I had "turned off" keeper so i couldn't access the settings. I had to turn it back on, go into the settings, change whatever it was that was causing the speech, then turn keeper back off. Then it was fine. So weird how you can turn off an app but the settings still apply.
This is NOT a bug.. per se.
These apps that are causing this to happen, are not even close to using Android as it was designed. They have found a back door to access certain functions in a way that used to require root. They use a work around, and that work around causes the speaking apps. They are definitely not using the accessibility services as they were designed to be used.
That said, those apps do extend the function of the device for a minimal negative impact. So as with all the things that make android great... its a personal decision on how to manage your device, and what you prioritize. Keep the functionality of these apps and work around the "bug" or uninstall the app and silence the calculator.
They will not fix the "bug" because it caused at the root level and the devs have no way to make changes there, and Google doesn't support these features using the accessibility services as a a backdoor way to automate the phone. Most likely they will close the loophole at some point.. the most definitely will not formalize it.

[STICK] Is there an easier way to access sideloaded apps?

Is there an easier way to access sideloaded apps on the Fire TV Stick? Currently I have to go to Settings > Applications > Manage > App > Launch. Kind of a pain in the neck, especially when I'm setting one up for a non-technical user for a Christmas present.

Download the amazon store apk. I'm sure it's all over this board it will make all your sideloaded apps appear on app section of your main screen.

Yes. FiredTV launcher by redth. Here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2782307
Check out the thread. Donate to him if you can. He did a great job with it. Also, you have to launch it after each reboot since the Firestick is not rootable at the moment.
So with both of the above methods, is there a way to revert those changes? If something stops working or whatnot?

ya the llama way works nice, i hooked it onto plex
I have Kodi (XBMC) set as my home launcher, so I've found that using its access to the installed Android apps is the easiest solution. I can access them all from programs > Android Apps, but I can also set the ones I use most frequently as favorites for even easier access.

If you download the WKRemote app to your phone or tablet, there's a Quick Launch option at the bottom of the screen that will display all your side-loaded apps. Just click the one you want to open & voilà.

how to prevent some apps install it's wearable part?

Some apps did nothing on my watch ,but it will waste batteries
You would have to do this in an adb shell on the watch. Then get the package name, then "pm disable packagename"
thank you .
Is there any app can do that?

If all you want to do is stop certain notifications on your watch, in Android Wear > Settings > Block app notifications. Then choose the apps to block.

This does not do what you think it does. It only stops notifications, the app still exists on the phone.

Nexus 5x - "Allow" button (permission)

Hi everyone,
Can't push the a "Allow" button when an app asks for a permission. (any apps)
Is it a known issue ? or it can be fixed somehow ?
Thanks again,
Do you have any apps running that do things like dim your screen or changed the color? Many of those are known to interfere with the package installer which I think comes into play when you press those buttons.

There is an app overlaying that is causing the issue.
Go to:
Settings > Apps > Configure apps (cog button at the top) > Special access > Draw over other apps
(note the path may be different on your phone, this is how its done on android N)
Turn off Permit drawing over other apps for the apps listed. Do it one by one. Between turning it off for each app, check and see if you can hit "OK" for new permissions.

So? The settings are the same just located in a slightly different location. Do yourself a favor and look for it in the settings of your phone.
Like the XDA noob that I am, I googled it for you and found that the setting is in the same location for MM the it is for N.

I wonder if you did it right. So, to clarify, you denied all of the apps listed in the Draw over other apps menu the ability to draw over other apps? All switches to the left and grayed out? Then you tried to open an app that requests some kind of permission? The permission dialog opened but you were still unable to select "Allow"?
Had similara behavior. In my case it was the File Manager HD app.
Only appeared after OTA back to M from N preview.

Question Just got the S21 FE 5G, are there any apps I should uninstall/disable or any settings I should change?

Just got the S21 FE 5G and did a factory reset.
Are there any apps I should uninstall/disable or any settings I should change for best performance? This is my first Samsung phone.
Also, I'm going from a non-Samsung phone to this. Should I use Smart Switch or Google Backup?
Hi there.
The most valuable advice I can give you is to go to Settings>Battery and device care>Click on Battery>Scroll down to "Background usage limits">Deep sleeping apps. Add any app that you do not want to run in the background. Those apps that you add will only work when you open them. Keep in mind that they will not receive updates or notifications.
Also, if you want the phone to feel snappier, go to Settings>About phone>Software Information>Tap 7 times on Build Number to enable developer settings. After that go to Settings> Developer options and turn off "Window animation scale", "Transition animation scale" and "Animator duration scale".
As for backup, I have no idea what to recommend. I usually just copy everything to a SSD and paste it to the new phone ). Contacts and conversations usually take care of themselves as they are synced with my google account.

I did not do any of the 'ADB Optimisations.' I mainly focused on the 'Removing Bloatware' section. It's possible to restore any component - if the need arises. It's also mentioned that you should 'restore all apps before updating,' but I have not done so and encountered no problems.
I also agree with turning off the adaptive battery from that guide. You can also turn on the enhanced processing while at it. I am not sure if the battery charge will suffer, but I definetly feel the phone is more responsive. Especially when scrolling pages.

Yes, but you can't put all the apps in deep sleep, you can disable some of them only through adb.

Well, I mentioned you can restore anything that you notice is missing and need. You can restore any apk in AppControl. I believe the SoundAlive service restores Dolby Atmos support. Search for it among the deleted items in AppControl, right-click and restore.
I've attached the apk if you are missing the file.
