Use the XDA II cradle as a car kit - General Accessories

Hi all, I recently have been using a spare XDA II cradle to charge my XDA II while driving in combination with a BT headset. I could only position my XDA II on my dash and considering the lack of options currently on the market I had to improvise.
My question is regarding the cradle USB cable. The USB cable is not connected to anything currently, using the power adaptornext to that cable. So I was wondering if I can connect it to a USB GPS mouse? Would the GPS mouse be able to draw power from the cradle this way? Dont know if anyone has already tried this but would be interested in peoples opinion.
Thanks,
K

Have you got any pics?
How do you charge it?

USB SYNC and DATA cable does not work

HI
I bought a USB SYNC AND CHARGE cable from http://www.pdaaddons.com.
The cable is able to sync the PDA but not charge it .
http://www.addonsworld.co.uk/product.php/21603/578/
I am not sure if I have been cheated or is there something wrong in what I am doing .
I had a cable for my IPAQ 6315 and it use to work beautifully .
Can anyone tell me if they have bought cables from PDAADDONs.COM and if they have worked.
Dhruv
hi..
Im not an expert but i think the charging might have something to do with your computer, i dont think all computers are able to sync and charge through the same USB port...
Have you tried any other cables???did they ever work??? as i say im just kinda accurately guessing the prob...

Subject: i've got the solution!!!
[so]hai®
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi everyone, i think i have the solution of XDA II not charging on USB port using XDA sync/charger cable... if u want the XDA II charging from USB, just open up the connector and disconnect the 20,21,22 pins from USB bus power line. After that, u can use XDA sync/charge cable in any USB port and they will sync and charge the XDA II.
How i know this??? 'cos i "reverse-engineered" the connection of the cradle... i was wondered y using the same usb port, the cradle can charge while the sync cable can't... so i test all the connection of the cradle and found that pin 20,21,22 and also pin 2 is disconnect. The pin 20,21,22 only connected to power when u plug in the DC into the cradle. This mean that pin 20,21,22 connected to DC (+) while the pin 2 is connected to DC (-) only when u plug in the external DC supply to the cradle.
I've modified my XDA sync cable and now i can charge my XDA II on any USB port even from my laptop. Hope this helps for those who purchased the XDA sync/charge cable to use with XDA II.
To those who like to go further....
The only problem that i can c now is that if u modified the cable and u use it with a car adaptor, will it charge the XDA II as fast as possible like when u plug in the external DC supply? OR will it only trickle charge the XDA II as using USB port? i really don't know 'cos i don't have a car here with me to try it out... but i think it will only trickle charge the XDA II only...
Therefore, to those who like to get charge faster in the car, u can install a small switch connected between the USB power line and pin 20,21,22. By switching the switch, u can choose between trickle charge and fast charge.
I can somehow understand what you are trying to say .
1. Why are these websites selling cables when they dont charge.
2. Can i do something at home to make it work.
3. How do I know if my cable has the right connections.
4. Can there be something abt usb 1 and usb 2.
Dhruv
USB 1 or 2 is not an issue. I charge and sync with my cable from proporta.com on my Dell laptop which is only USB 1.
Some computers don't kick out enough down the USB to power external devices so I presume charging might be the same. You haven't said if you've tried it on other PCs? If you only have 1 PC, go to a friends and plug it in. It'll ask for drivers but cancel out of it and it should be charging. If it doesn't charge off a full size desktop then its fair to say you've been 'stitched up' or it was never meant to charge. Simple really.
Dhruv and others....
There is a simple kit, now a days which we get in market, which has a USB cable, a car chaqrger and a power plug. The Cable can be used with both Car and Power pluag and for Syncing AND IT BLOODY WELL CHARGES THE XDA TOOO....works with XDA II as well as with Blue Angel. If one uses universal USB 2.0 a Magician can also be then compatible...
Price!!!!!! 12 USD....!!!!!!
Usb Sync
do u have the link
Usb Sync
do u have the link
Hi Dhruv,
Go to Gaffar Market or Palika Bazar...and ask for it...u may get it for Rs 400!!!!!!!.
USB SYNC AND DATA CABLE
what is suprising the cables did not work on my notebook or my pc at home but when I used it in office it works just fine.
So there is something to think about :-
is it the usb power managment that creates this issue .
or
windows 2000 patch ....

Dhruv

Holux GPSlim236 & XDA IIs I need a cable connection solu

Having satisfied myself that the Holux GPSlim236 Bluetooth connection using an XDA IIs is unacceptable is there a cable connection solution that will avoid using bluetooth?
Is it possible that anyone knows if a cable connection solution exists that will connect the Holux GPS Bluetooth receivers signal via it's small USB connector and the XDA IIs sync connector?
I don't have any problem with using that gps with my xda 2s via bluetooth
feel free to have a browse around my site for Brodit cradles for XDA2 etc, and see if anything is what you think you need, please feel free to drop me a line if you need any advice ok,
Thanks
Bryson
Hey. Holux do this cable, it plugs your USB port to your PDA and then to the mini-usb port on the GPS. If you get a USB to Cigarette Lighter adapter, it also charges your device and GPS.
Holux are currently out of stock, but say they should have some in a week or two. Once they have stock, it will be listed on their website (www.holux-uk.com). Under the 'Accessories' link select 'Bluetooth Receiver
Cables' it will be listed here. They cost about £20-30 usually.

(Q) Is There Such A Cable?

basically what I want is a OTG cable that splits off to a regular mini USB as well.
what I'm trying to do is be able to plug my phone into the charger and be able to plug In a ps3 controller into the note 2 as well.
I know I can do this wirelessly because I already do this. But what if I'm gonna charge my ps3 controller and my note 2 at the same time?
the only way I see you can do this is taking USB OTG cable and then connect that to a USB Male to male. Take the one male and connect that to usb to adapter that splits into 2 males. One of those males will go into the charger and the other will connect to a USB mini adapter and connect ps3 controller to the mini adapter.
Sounds very confusing but sure if it work between all that.
What would be easier if they had a micro USB splitter that splits into a USB adapter and a mini USB.

umm... usb hub... they are everywhere. either that or unified receivers (one receiver that handles both the mouse and the keyboard) or since you are out buying all that crap just go out and buy Bluetooth keyboards and mice

That makes sense haha but here's a question can I use a 4 port usb hub to connect my charger to it to charge phone and connect mouse and keyboard as well as ps3 controller? Or do I need a hub with ac adapter?
Or will it not work? The usb connected to the wall charger connected to an adapter to the hub?

I don't think it will work, the dock achieves this, probably by informing the phone that it's a dock, but the adapters rely on shorting the ground wire to tell the phone it needs to become an usb host. I don't have empirical data but my electronics training tells me the power supply (charger) wouldn't love a short on it's grounding and wouldn't charge the phone...also when going into usb otg mode the phone supplies power, so the charger would see this as a short or an over current situation and not charge.

so this wont work i take it? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000Q8UAWY/ref=gno_cart_title_1
because both mouse and keyboard would be using through Bluetooth adapter. i already use the mouse and it works through the regular Samsung otg cable.
Can that just work off from the Note 2's Power Supply?
it can only power 1 device, and barely. it outputs around 300mA which is enough for a usb stick, a mouse, a keyboard, or a controller, but not for external hard drives nor other phones your usb hub would have to be powered our else you may suffer reliability and connection problems with your keyboard mouse and controller. basically if you pressed a button on all three the phone would lose them all momentarily

Edit: could that 5$ hub I mentioned be able to just do both mouse and keyboard only without issues?

Mini to micro isn't going to help me that only solves ps3 controller. But I already have that down with the otg cable or wirelessly. I want a cable like that has a micro to the usb adapter(otg) that also splits into a usb male. Or a micro to dual usb adapter.

1 thing is that it's 100 dollars. second thing is basically I can't put in horizontal mode if I want to use a keyboard and mouse and browse the Internet I don't want to browse it straight up and down. not to mention if I want to play games as well if I'm using ps3 controller to charge it at the same time I can't do that. who wants to play games tilting their head to watch because of the fact that the phone is mounted vertically instead of horizontally.
I mean I don't understand why it so hard to find a micro USB to a dual USB adapters I mean that shouldn't be that hard to make haha. with that I can use a keyboard and mouse using Unifying receiver. and then the other USB adapter can go straight to the ps3 controller.
So it would be called micro usb male to dual usb female

here's what I don't understand if I take that USB hub connect it to the adapter that I have, and have the USB Bluetooth and keyboard bluetooth in there at the same time, I shouldn't have issues because if im browsing the internet I'm not going to be typing keys on the keyboard and moving the mouse at the same time. so in theory I can move the mouse around Lets say go to the address bar stop using the mouse and go to the keyboard and start typing on the keyboard. so basically I will only be using 1 port at a time. instead of moving the mouse and typing keys at the same time I won't be doing something like that just be ridiculous haha.
so can I use that Belkin USB 4 port and just basically use the two USB Bluetooth hooked up to it. so the port will be connected to the OTG cable. if this makes sense I'll connect the OTG cable to the hub and the 2 Bluetooth to the hub
because if I honestly wanted if I wanted to play video games like grand theft auto I can use the keyboard to type cheats and stuff. use the keyboard through the OTG cable. and connect my ps3 controller wirelessly.

wowowow, no, keyboard, mice and ps3 will only be afected if they are wiered or rf. bluetooth devices wont interfere with each other, you can have a ton of devices on bluetooth and not even need the usb otg... you dont need a buetooth adapter for this, phone, it comes with bluetooth, so any bluetooth item should work with the phone while it's charging without needing the usb otg cable at all. ps3 controllers are bluetooth by default. you dont need to plug them to the phone.

Using Wireless Keyboard and Mouse with 4-port USB HUB

Hi everybody,
I want to share my experiences regarding wireless Keyboard and Mouse with you, because I have checked some forums and thread but I haven´t found a satisfactory answer for the question "Can I use my Microsoft Arc Keyboard and Arc Touch Mouse to controll my Galaxy Note 10.1 Tab?"
The Answer is yes... although many peoples have said, that there will be a problem with power supply because it´s no high powered USB port using USB OTG adapter.
I have buyed this one on Amazon
"KanaaN USB 1x4 Hub for Samsung Galaxy Tab - 7.7/8.9/10.1 Galaxy Note 10.1"
and its working fine. Mouse and keyboard were detected automatically without any problems.
Maybe my experiences will help some other users who have the same question like me.
P.S. sorry for my bad english but my first language is german
Thanks.......
Just need availability in UK, Amazon is out of stock.

I´m not sure and I can´t test it but I think it should work with the most devices because used power should be similar on all devices.
Wired keyboards should work in any case because they need less power to transmit signals but wireless devices need more power so you can only try out whether it´s working.
This is my setup.. I am not using any powered hub.. I am using the otg connection kit that I bought from amazon for $2 with my Logitech wireless keyboard with built-in mouse pad

For the audio aspect, do these cables bypass the internal DAC like an OTG USB does on the TW roms allowing you to take advantage of an external DAC?
