XDA Spare Parts - General Accessories

Hi,
Is there anyone out there that can help me find a couple of parts for my XDA. Or If anyone knows a site i can get them from.
I'm looking for a replacement for the dark gray cover on top of the phone holding the Stylus Pen. Also the little spring that is inside this. Ever since i lost this the signal on the phone is crap. Takes forever to download emails and surf the web. Urgently need to find a replacement.
Thanks

The little spring is actually the antenna. If you are interested, I have a couple of spares I received in an auction. They all have some battle scars but are in tact and should work fine. You may also want to check http://www.pdasmart.com/pdaphone.htm.

XDA Orbit 2 - Replacement rubber scroll wheel

I bought my Orbit 2 a couple of months ago and very happy with it , but just the other day the rubber ring on the scroll wheel disappeared, obviously it fell off somehow, the glue not strong enough i guess.
Rather than have to send my XDA back for repair and wait 10 days, i'd prefer to get the rubber ring and stick it on myself. The wheel still works, but not so effective without the friction of the rubber. Does anyone know where i may be able to get the part from?
thanks
Rob
Mines gone as well. Is it possible to get spares anywhere? Did you get yours sorted Rob?
I had a longlong chat with the support. They told me that I have to sent my phone in for repair (what takes rather long since I am living in Austria and now have to send it to Germany). I could kill HTC for this. All I need is that rubber.
you could check if there exists an "O-ring" seal that fit in the whell,
at least this is what I would do...
Ste
the same has happened to mine. I found mine on the floor ,didnt know what it was and binned it. a week later I noticed it was missing ion my orbit2 lol. o2 has told me you cannot buy spares ,and also even thought my orbit2 was only a month old, external parts not covered in the warranty .basically 60quid and a long wait if I want it repaired . I ain't happy .
Same has happened to mine and having previously owned an original Orbit. I prefer the originals ball roller compared to the ring & button on the Orbit 2.
Step back me thinks...
I bought 225 pieces of Rubber O-rings off ebay and some super glue and it is sorted for me. But then I sold the phone and bought my self a brand new one with the original ring. Any one needs link for the O-rings please let me know.
Same problem for me too... do you have that link for the o rings or has anyone managed to source the actual part?
Thanks,
Tom
My scroll wheel has fallen off.
Does anybody have any info/links for replacements?
Anybody successfully replaced their scroll wheel?
the same sh*t happend to me -> I called to to O2 authority, and they rejected my claims as it is external part. Then I came to one of the O2 stores in Saturn and withdrew the ring from the exhibition phone Ok, maybe its not that fair, but I see no other way
the overall build quality of the orbit 2 is poor in comparison to the origonal i find the whole thing verry plastiky i have also just got off the phone to O2 and have explaned that the rubber on the touch weel has come off and they wanted to send me a new phone lol i advised them a repair would be sufficant and they are sending me a returns bag to have the item fixed. i didnt even have to get angry just explaind the problem and that i have researched it on the net and found many otheres have had the same issue and the wonderfull lady just said sorry ill get this sorted for you. i couldnt beleve it all god customer service for me it seems lol
update they replaced the phone for me as i hadnt herd back from them regards return and i seem to have a spare unit as they sent the new one but it wasnt to be dispatched till they receaved the old one oops lol now how to fix that dam wheel ?????? lol

Aria Screen/ Digitizer

It's a new record for me... I had my new Aria/Liberty/Intruder all set up and inside of three days dropped and T-boned the screen
Anyone have ideas on where to find parts for a Aria? I understand HTC is notoriously slow about releasing aftermarket parts. The repair guy I took my phone to encouraged me to help him find the part.
Many thanks-

I used to order all my blackberry parts from here. Very good reveiws. There across the seas but shipping is usually quick and even faster if you bump it up.http://cnn.cn/shop/htc-aria-c-277_1068.html
Thanks Kudvu002! You saved the day!
I found one on ebay, but the shipping's not as quick.
Have you tried taking it apart yet? I'm trying to get a little insight on the disassembly. It seems like you can pop off the top yellow cover but I wasn't able to get it off and didn't want to force it.
anyone knows where to buy the digitizer for the Aria? cnn.cn shows the digitizer in stock,, but when you go to checkout it says it is not....
Ordered mine about a week ago but it says it was shipped, now I just gotta get it apart!

digitizer replaced
So I followed the tutorial found on android forums, it was relatively easy, i forgot to take pictures of the steps but i can write a tutorial if anyone wants it, because the tutorial on A.F. is a little vague. But I have found a solution to the cracked screen problem, I went to Best Buy to see if they had the Zagg shield (which they do, it's for the Intruder/Aria/Liberty) but they also had a new case which looks a little more resilient against dropping. The case is made by Superior Communications (BB item number 35307BBR) and is pretty rugged looking, anyways let me know if you want a tutorial written up, i will try to get some pics to do it with.
so I'm about to replace mine.. any tutorial with pics available?
for those of you that have ordered and recieved their replacement digitizers, are they AT&T branded still?

Yes they are.. and they are not original part... there are some differences... and after the installation you will have the light that turns on the -home- menu-back-search buttons to filter into the screen. I finished up adding the insurance and getting a brand new for $50.00 and sold the old one for 200

I can have a tutorial up by tomorrow, unfortunately with pics of the full install but close enough to get you there. The screen I bought was an HTC oem screen and ATT branded, there aren't any that aren't branded so far. Lemme get the tutorial together and ill post it tomorrow.

I've seen this phone shown off a few times withut the AT&T branding and with just the HTC logo at the top/middle and would prefer that digitizer.
(and no I wasn't mistaking the HD Mini for the Aria lol) Wonder how long before those are available. Probably will have to wait until another carrier gets the phone IF anyone else decides to even pick it up.
The button light issue is quite a drag tho. Sucks. You could try to add some sort of tiny strip above the capacitive buttons area to shield the light from leaking into the viewable screen area.
here is a good video showing a Disassembly of the phone, it might help.

doing this now...it is a HUGE pain in the ass
ok, to anyone who tries this BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PULL THE RIBBON OUT
I pulled too hard and like an asshole I broke the "plug" piece off of the ribbon and it's stuck in the "socket"
looks like it's time to try and scam AT&T again

How to: boost signal strength by 10% or higher.....maybe :)

so i was browsing on ebay and i found those "as seen on tv" antenna sticker things that you just slap on the back of your phone...well, after buying a pack of 5 for $3.00, i said what the hell. time to test this out.
so my g/f and i have the same phone (Aria) and i put my sicker on the inside of the back case, right along the two little prongs. well here that back case that holds the battery in, IS THE ANTENNA!!! for those of you who did not know this.
so the antenna sticker sits along the prongs/pins so the contacts can still touch while putting back on. and here, we were standing side by side in different places where i had full bars, and she only had two. and both of us were in 3g. so the real test is that were going on a camping trip here this weekend in the mountains, and we'll see who has the bigger hand(but we all know that its me )
but ive been monitoring the signal strength between the both of us this past week and ive always come on top w/ more bars than her. looks like she'll be sucking it again w/ this bet....
if you guys want to try it out. let me know.
Cheers!
hmmm...sound interesting! i'll try that method. maybe could you possibly give me link or what you type in search for ebay. thanks for the advice.
nice! let us know how this works.
what to search for.
sorry to post this but, i traded my aria for a captivate, BRAND NEW!!! i couldnt help but to take the offer. but as far as the antenna goes...i know that i helps a little...i had one left so i gave it to the ol' lady. she seems to see a difference also. good luck to you guys. i dont think ill be going back to the aria anytime soon....
laterz!
I hear they are close to fixing the captivate GPS issues. Personally I'm glad i opted for one that works out of the box.

really work?
I read this test on those stickers a while back so I don't feel like wasting money on them.

Anybody care to include the item's link and some testimonies?

[Q] GSM crack screen replacement

Hello
I've seen a couple threads on the issue but I find no right answer to my question. Does anybody know of a reliable, hopefully cheaper source to replace a cracked screen on a Galaxy Nexus?
I am in Spain for a while, called Samsung, they sent me to "the phone house" which required a store visit where they informed me it'd cost me 1 week wait plus 180€ for the replacement.
I find the cost excessive, only the glass needs replacement, the screen itself is working perfectly.
Do you know of any alternative, hopefully cheaper, to this?
Thanks for your help
PS: In case anyone's interested, here's the backstory: I dropped my phone on a hard surface a week ago. It was my fault as all drops are. I believe the amount of cracking is unreasonably large for the drop it took (less than 1m plus it had to yank my earbuds off, so even less "free fall energy"); it makes me think the screen was under heavy stress already and just took the slightest chance it could get a hold on to completely unravel the entropy within but that's just me.
it was also my fault not to have a bumper/case. As I said, I am in Spain right now and the cases are nonexistent in general stores but then again, my fault, should have bought online.
Pretty sure on a samoled the glass and the screen are one piece. They are fusing everything together to make it thinner.

Hinge screw type?

Hi everybody, I've had the motorola razr 5g now for about a year and I noticed that the screw that holds the cover plate over the hinge is missing. It looks like a torx bit, I will test the size with an iFix it kit sometime soon on the other one, but I also am wondering if anyone knows what kind of thread it has, or the length. I am a little disappointed with Motorola, I contact the customer service and they are pretty much stonewalling me. They won't just provide the screw, they want me to send it in for service and since I am 4 days past owning it for a year now they are not honoring the 1 year warranty. Which is technically fair, but a bit frustrating. I cannot justify paying for shipping and service so someone can use a screwdriver. I asked them once again to just send me the screw, I would even pay for it, or to at least tell me what type of screw it is, but I am not hopeful for my odds in getting either of those things. So I thought I would reach out to the broader community. Here is a picture of the missing spot. Let me know if this belongs in a different topic, I though it might fit here.
Are there 2 or just one?
If 2, pull the second one to get the length (test on other side) and thread size/type.
Lol, you picked the wrong screw to lose said SuzieQ
Check your pockets etc, sometimes you get lucky.
A local repair shop might be the easiest way.
Hi, thank you for that suggestion, there are two. I will have to see about pulling it out I do have a micrometer packed in a box somewhere. I am still unsure how to find the thread style once I have it though.
Yeah I have been looking in my pockets I even tried to look in the washing machine. So far no dice.
It's a shame I have otherwise loved this phone the form factor is great and I actually get about 2-3 days on the battery since I use the tiny outside screen for a lot of things.
Hi everyone, a small update to this topic. I was able to talk with a repair shop that told me this is the likely part number for the screw I am looking for, SM88C67068. They unfortunately didn't stock it, but I thanked them for being more helpful than motorola. Googling that number gave me a spread sheet with this information associated with the part, SCREW, M1.4x2.4L,2.5x0.30HD, SL,NAT4.
I also pulled the other screw out to have a look, it has a torx 0 head and is pretty short. It is not just a straight screw. It has a tier to it and a fine thread.
