How to: boost signal strength by 10% or higher.....maybe :) - HTC Aria Accessories

so i was browsing on ebay and i found those "as seen on tv" antenna sticker things that you just slap on the back of your phone...well, after buying a pack of 5 for $3.00, i said what the hell. time to test this out.
so my g/f and i have the same phone (Aria) and i put my sicker on the inside of the back case, right along the two little prongs. well here that back case that holds the battery in, IS THE ANTENNA!!! for those of you who did not know this.
so the antenna sticker sits along the prongs/pins so the contacts can still touch while putting back on. and here, we were standing side by side in different places where i had full bars, and she only had two. and both of us were in 3g. so the real test is that were going on a camping trip here this weekend in the mountains, and we'll see who has the bigger hand(but we all know that its me )
but ive been monitoring the signal strength between the both of us this past week and ive always come on top w/ more bars than her. looks like she'll be sucking it again w/ this bet....
if you guys want to try it out. let me know.
Cheers!

hmmm...sound interesting! i'll try that method. maybe could you possibly give me link or what you type in search for ebay. thanks for the advice.

nice! let us know how this works.
what to search for.

sorry to post this but, i traded my aria for a captivate, BRAND NEW!!! i couldnt help but to take the offer. but as far as the antenna goes...i know that i helps a little...i had one left so i gave it to the ol' lady. she seems to see a difference also. good luck to you guys. i dont think ill be going back to the aria anytime soon....
laterz!

I hear they are close to fixing the captivate GPS issues. Personally I'm glad i opted for one that works out of the box.
http://forums.wireless.att.com/t5/Samsung/Captivate-GPS-Issues/m-p/2529105

really work?
I read this test on those stickers a while back so I don't feel like wasting money on them.

Anybody care to include the item's link and some testimonies?

XDA Spare Parts

Hi,
Is there anyone out there that can help me find a couple of parts for my XDA. Or If anyone knows a site i can get them from.
I'm looking for a replacement for the dark gray cover on top of the phone holding the Stylus Pen. Also the little spring that is inside this. Ever since i lost this the signal on the phone is crap. Takes forever to download emails and surf the web. Urgently need to find a replacement.
Thanks
The little spring is actually the antenna. If you are interested, I have a couple of spares I received in an auction. They all have some battle scars but are in tact and should work fine. You may also want to check http://www.pdasmart.com/pdaphone.htm.

Do you think the T-Mo HTC TP2 Back Cover...

Im about to get the T-Mobile HTC Touch Pro2 and if you all have seen it the back is awful, At least in my opinion looks like an old phone look,
I was wondering if you all thought the Battery Cover Door for the EU one will be exact fit as the T-Mobile one,
I want the Silver back then the Mocha i think it is back.
I reviewed it in real life then compared it to videos they look exact to me i wouldnt imagine them changing the actual phone.
If anyone knows that'll be great if they're exact fit before i pay $25 for it.
Silver one:

T-Mobile One:
http://images.intomobile.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/htc-touch-pro2-t-mobile-wing-ii-4.jpg
The mute button looks the same, The usb curve on the bottom though you cant see it is the same,
I dont think the T-Mobile one has 2 mics but thats just a hole, Thanks sorry if been asked.
Gotta go to work thanks for the replies if any knows.
for the life of me, i simply can't figure out why telcos always go and mess around with the handset's default design. in almost every instance they make it worse.
the device looks really cheap an the T3D is an earlier version than the default device
yea I'd like to know this too..for when I buy the device on AT&T. I want it to look as much like the euro version as possible.
anyone know if the euro battery cover would fit on the US-branded units?
Personally I like the backs of the default generic/Euro version and the Verizon versioin (I like the world map they included in the back, what can I say)
And the front I like the most is the Telux one. Unfortunately there's no chance of changing the front I'm guessing
I am not sure where you buy that phone, but the Dutch (The Netherlands) T-Mobile branded HTC TP2 has the original silver cover.
I see the picture you linked, and I agree it is ugly!
(The original TP did not have the nice black diamond back and no LED Flash, but the TP2 seems to be identical besides the T-Mobile logo's and the ROM as the real HTC-TP2)
Just to let yall know ill be ordering the back on Wednesday when i get the Phone, Ill post if it fits or not its only 20 dollars,
I'll personally when i get paid change the front outer border, also they sell the chromish or whatever front faceplate for i think 20 dollars might have to check a few times.
The T-mobile back is just so blah and the square speaker isnt nearly as cool as the round one going all the way down.
Like I said ill post if it fits or not i went to review it at my T-mobile store and i watched video from my G1 and it looks identical on the actual fit of the phone,
Lets hope right? I have seen the Sprint World Map one thats amazing looking but that back wont be out forever.

I like that several US carriers went without chrome (Verizon's rim looks a little like black chrome). I don't really want shiny happy people to relate to me.
But generally speaking, you're right. Carrier's designfu is weaker than HTC's.
Unfortunately the world cover one won't fit on the normal gsm versions. At least I don't think it will as it must make more space for he 3.5mm jack.
The Sprint one looks weird... the brown is just ugly, but the back is an interesting design...
interesting good or interesting bad I haven't decided yet
Yea i forgot i about that, It looks the Exact same on the EU and T-Mobile one but the sprint is differnt from pictures that has been posted,
Reason why im waiting to order the back till wendesday is so i can do a detailed comparasion at home instead of at the malls T-mobile haha
Iv also seen custom Battery Back Covers floating around if any one is interested i think i seen them all on ebay/

Okay, maybe buy clear battery door from custom evos BAD EXPERIENCE (Positive Update)

Okay, so I ordered one a WHILE ago, and I received it. The door did not fit, in other words, it required an immense amount of pressure to place it on the phone with all clips holding, and even then the stand would not come out of the back of the case without excessive, and i mean excessive, force. When it was out, when you pushed it back in, it shifted the door out of place and forced one of the clips to pop off. It was not form fitting, as in there were gaps between the battery door and the back of my evo. Just for kicks I tried it on another evo, maybe it was just mine. Didnt fit there either. I contacted by email, no response. Website? no response. I eventually received a PM on the xda-developers forum, and was told to record a video of the problem with the battery door and send it to joey3002.
Really? Honestly? Over a 17 dollar battery door, I need to record a video and send it to you? Like the hassle of trying to get ahold of you and send it back to you is not enough, I would do it for pure amusement?
If I was really that ignorant, and could not figure out how to put it on, the worst that would happen is that you would receive a perfectly functioning battery door in exchange for another functionally perfect battery door, and be out the 44 cents for shipping it.
I understand that this was a great undertaking on your part, and you are trying to make a buck like the rest of the world. But I think that your customer service has to improve a bit.
I am sure there are many people who are happy with their clear battery doors, and the idea is f****** awesome, but there is no order support whatsoever, I wasted $17, and its just sitting on my desk in the same plastic wrapping it came in months ago.
/endrant
UPDATE: Joey is working with me. I was incredibly frustrated, and hopefully this will rectify the problem. I will keep posted.
So the seller its on here?
Sent from my Evo, ho!
Same thing happened to me with mine. I got a Dremel and just slightly grinded down the slot for the kick stand and it's been working lovely for months now. Taking it off feels like you're going to break off one of the clips or something, so I just pop the top clips off when I need to remove the battery and only take the whole thing off if I need to remove the SD card. It's not a PERFECT fit, but I like the look of it so I deal with it.

Chargeback, duh. Had a similar experience with a screen protector that claimed to be bubble free and had 8 bubbles when I applied it precisely according to the instructions.
I emailed them once, did not receive a satisfactory response (to use scotch tape or something), called my CC company for a chargeback, got an immediate credit and final approval in a few days.
I bought one when I first got my Evo, I think it looks great. The fit is tight, when you first get all the clips in place, you almost have to slide the case down then to have it completely. It does allow dust to get under the cover which matters more as the cover is clear, but the stock cover does that also (not quite as much, but it still does nonetheless). To take it off I slide a credit card or some other similar card along the edge to pop all the clips out, then just take it off normally. So it is an incredibly tight fit, but it works fine for me. I swap between my old hero battery and Evo battery as needed, and I don't find it difficult at all once you have a system down pat to remove it.
I had the same issue, pm'ed and got no response...
followed videos and everything and nothing worked...oh well.

Chargeback. Call your CC company. Tell them it's crap. They will take the money from the merchant's account and put it in yours.
The only way to get through to shady sellers is to hit them where it hurts, their bank accounts.
Sounds cool though

Same here. I have 3 of them and they all work fine. Not one speck of dust has ever got in there and I have it in and out of my pocket all day. The fit was a bit funky when I first put it on but it settled in within a week and has been great ever since.
For those of you with complaints, the seller (Joe is his name) will work with you but remember, he's just another member like you and me who decided to make these. He's a regular guy with a day-job and a family and definitely NOT here to rip anybody off! Just be patient and he will work something out with you.
I have reached out to joe, he has either ignored me, or not responded, or asked me to record a video, as I stated. I think it might be too late for a chargeback unfortunately.
I had the same fitment issue. Tried it on both mine and the wife's evo. I emailed him twice through his site and sent 3 pm's. Nothing.

Need help identifing antenna in G2

So I was thinking about boosting my antenna signal with those Antenna Booster stickers. I know a lot of people say they don't work, but I think it's because they're not positioned correctly.
Anyway here's a picture of an unfortunate G2 I bought off Ebay used to repair my working G2. I keep it around for spare parts. Are those copper contacts really the antenna? Looks like the metal materials runs under a portion of plastic to extend the range.
I believe that the bottom is for cell use while the top is for blue-tooth and wifi. I was thinking of buying a couple and doing this too boost the phones signal.
There's enough empty space to place these stickers in there and try to boost the signal. Compared to some other phones I've had, this one has a rather weak signal in comparison. Especially in those spotty areas.
Not to rain on your parade but if a $4 sticker that probably costs .04 to make really helped at all, don't you think phone manufactures would already be using them? Any way you identified the antenna correctly, have at it

Thanks, I ordered a pack of 6 for $3. I'll report if there's any noticeable difference. I've used one long time ago on my Motorola Razer and seemed to work.
Really wish this phone came with a better loud speaker.
It could have been the placebo effect?
About the speaker, do you think we could find one that fits on eBay or RadioShack or whatever? So as to make it louder?
I noticed when I hold my phone with my left hand, the signal really sucks. I knew the cell antenna was in the bottom section and now I know why covering the left side is bad. I try to just hold the top part but it's hard when browsing or other functions besides calls. We all made jokes about the iphone and the "you're holding it wrong" crap but it seems to be true with our G2 As far as booster stickers go, they have been selling these things for many years now. They have never been proven to work and disproven many times. The placement of the boosters don't matter and were allegedly designed to be placed right side up and behind a battery. They don't supply power therefore couldn't act as a repeater or booster nor do they alter the design of the original antenna not to mention they don't even make contact with it. They used to sell for $20 but now sell for 1 penny lol! The only things that ACTUALLY work are external antennas (few phones even have ports for them anymore), cellfi, uma, repeaters, microcells, etc. So, shell out some real cash for a proven booster/repeater or hold your phone differently. Sorry... good idea though! Worth a shot...

Hello,
any news abut possible signal improvement?
I would like to replace the bottom GSM antenna with better one.
I've already tried couple of modifications, but without success.
I would appreciate if somebody could share hardware modification which really works and improves the GSM signal reception.
Thanks
Hi I have a Spanish G2, Desire Z Vodafone and also appears that since the Demonte to change the screen, gives me probemas coverage, always, sometimes puts all stripes and many others did not put stripes or coverage but you can call ...

[Review] Hunterf iPhone like case

Well i just received my Hunterf iphone like case for my galaxy s3. took some picture before i put it on. sadly i dont have photos of it currently on but it looks awesome. here are the photos that i have as of now. photos of what the case looks like on the phone can be found in the link below.
It is a full aluminum case that removes the stock back plate and is replaced with the one below keeping it thin still. It fits perfectly around the speaker, led flash, and camera lense. It also, on the bumper part of the case, replaces the buttons with nice aluminum buttons. It does add some weight but i don't think it is much to complain about. Wifi seems to be fine but i haven't really tested network signal and wifi much.
I bought the case from this link. I bought it in silver but the colors are red, black, silver, and blue.
It comes with a case, screen protector, little gel like fish toy(?), mini stylus, screwdriver to assemble, screws and plugs for headphone jack and charger.
It came to a total of $51 USD with shipping. it took about 2 weeks to arrive but that is because i ordered right before new years so they were on vacation. which means it might come to you faster!
If there are any questions feel free to ask and ill try to respond asap.
THANK YOU!! so many people promised to do reviews but youre the only one who followed up
But please tell us how your reception ans gps is

it switches the back plate. not sure what u mean by scratch protection?
You need insulation along the side, the amount provided does prevent some scratches, but it's best to add more.
No, you don't need any on the back.
BTW, the fish thingy is a headphone cable tie.

My review!
Thought I would upload some picts as well!
My sky blue finally came in today!
Reception is affected but not dropping completely just one bar off of what i usually get, At home i would range around 3-4 bars with LTE now i would be at 2-3 with LTE speeds are barely affected. At work i go from a solid 3-4 to 3 bars with LTE.
All in all very nice case, but scratches easily.

And for what its worth, GPS worked fine, no lock on issues but 4G LTE struggled to stay connected because the ASU was too low to maintain the connection in 4G zones.
The higher the ASU the better, its kinda like GPS, the higher the satellites the better the signal

The blue looks gorgeous, I have to say though, Its a gorgeous case but its not very good for a heavy user that needs a stable connection for data 24/7
I bought a Draco S3 Metal Bumper to see how it affects signal after reading the reviews online of other users, I found that the signal drop was only 5db, gps and nfc are not affected and the bumper is absolutely gorgeous, especially the Thunder Black
I'll still use my HunterF case from time to time, Its kinda like a woman with the perfect purse, gotta have a new one every so often to match the urge of use lol
The seller is offering XDA users 30% off but I got mine even cheaper on eBay from an authorized dealer for $58 with shipping, I can post a review of that as well if you guys want.

Just wondering how dust proof the case is? Looks like a lot of dust can get to the phone through the ports, especially with the removed back plate for the s3?
It looks very delicate, i think the paint will get scratch just by touching it

Fair enough, but there is a difference between verizons lte and tmo 4g. And as you stated in your original post about the case you only tested gps, which thanks to you I know there is not too much interference. Plus you also said that you took the data speed screenshot too early and the results were actually higher with the metal case, so forgive me for asking the dozens of others who ordered ro chime in. BUT your thread and posts have been constintanly updated and are a great resource, I learned a lot from your posts thanks
