Hi, sasaki933.
I'm a Japanese tester of your ROM.
Thank you so much for your great work.

Thanks again to Mr. 830 or Mr. Sasaki for all the efforts you have been making to provide a better ROM to X01HT users.

Some people inclued me mentioned avoiding Japanese writing.
#11 was my last Japanese writing.
Don't take so seriously to write in English, Japanese member.
It is just a tool for communication.
Let's try and enjoy!!
Hi, wydeload
Sasaki933's ROM is here;
http://www.megaupload.com/en/?d=QIA1V73K
Be careful because it's alfa~beta version.
He send his Hermes to HTC japan for repair.
He said slide was loosen.
Then hermes is not on his hand now and he can not check the ROM works properly or not.
But no major problem has been reported yet scince it was uploaded.
Try it at your own risk!

My X01HT became a brick because of other experiments.
The report is waited for because it is not possible to try to our
regret.

X01HT Came Back!!!
Hello
At last my X01HT came back from repair.
Because I check the latest edition of the ROM who made it so far from now on, please wait for a while till then.

Congratulations!
This day was waited for.
However, it takes care about the brick.

Welcome back, sasaki933!
We hope to share good time with you.
If you want other test, I will test anything as possible as I can with pleasure.

XDA III, japanese windows

Hi everybody. Not yet bought such a device as I have first to understand wheter it is possible to install a Japanese windows. I need it to be able to read and write japanese characters and don't find a place where to find a device already equipped with such a software.
Also, does anyone know where an image of a japanese windows might be obtained ?
Thanks in advance to any one who will help.
Do you want to read/write Japanese, or for the entire OS to become Japanese?
If it's the former, you need the fonts containing Kanji, a set of registry entries to default fonts without unicode kanji chars to the Kanji fonts, and an IME that can do Kanji. A kanji dictionary is also useful.
If it's the latter, you need a Japanese ROM, and I doubt these devices have been released in Japan becauase of the different cell phone network protocols there.
More info on Fonts/IME/Dictionary here:

So, on using the phone in Japan...
Thanks Andy, nice of you and, excellent and pertaining answer. Let me go straight to my problem. I have to go to Japan for business and hope to use this device as a phone and as an e-mailer machine. You've answered for Kanji Hiragana and so on. I know that Japan uses W-DCMA as a protocol. Does anyone knows if it is possible to place a japanese SIM into it to make it operative there ?
An alternative would be to connect it (via BlueTooth) to a rent japanese phone, just for the e-mail.
Any Japanese reading this forum might pls, help?
Thanks in advance
Japanese on the English OS
i am japanese guy, and have been used Wallby--Himalaya--Blue Angel--Mini,with japanese language(OS is english, but can write/read/encoding to JP)

i am very famouse guy (i hope) of the Japan/China Localization of English PPC.
To use Jpanese on ENG OS, need Japan font, replacing wince.nls=encoding inbox and IE,also font registry files, and encoding registry.

I was in Japan last year for 3 weeks holiday (fantastic!), but my XDAII certainly wasn't able to connect to anything GSM/GPRS like over there. It was still invaluable to have as a PDA because of the Kanji dictionary program.
I hired a J-Phone temporarily while I was out there, but I don't know whether there are Bluetooth enabled ones out there allow the XDA to use the phone as a data modem.
Asukal - interesting website, I must parctice my Japanese more!

Japan has no GSM, but has a W-CDMA, you can use W-CDMA phone with your country SIM card and W-CDMA/GSM dual Mobile Phone(such like a nokia 7600/6630). we have very few mobile Phone with Bluetooth in japan. so you had better bring your M Phone in japan.
while i am in japan,i use XdaO2 IIs+Nokia 7600 with china GSM SIM. it was not officail roaming (china Moble Co also dont know how to do), but it can be done. also Hong Kong SIM can.
if you wish to hire J-Phone<now they are Vodafon japan>, Nokia6630 and Sonny erricoson are available with Bluetooth. but those phone were sim locked. your own SIM will be rejected and must use J-Phone`s.
i am very await for the MDA-4 with W-CDMA will comming!
Thank you.
Thank you Andy. Thank you Asukal. You guys, have made me understand the matter. Now I understand that I have either to have an MDA IV (as soon as it is available) or have an MDA III plus a phone like a Nokia 6630 for when I am to Japan.
Thanks again, have a nice day.
Welcome to Japan
Mr,spinzolone>>>>
MDA IV, if it come with New OS WM2005, i can`t guarantee to enable Japanese encoding internet browsing and e-mail inbox .
In my test with Beta-WM2005,(also another chinese friend so) still cant do it currentry. but i hope it will be solved soon.
Asukal: One quick question - I'm having problems with my font-linking, notably "\". Do you have any idea what might be wrong?
I'm using XDAII, PPC2003, with the ttc font collections rather than individual files. I've checked your registry files and the linking information seem the same as mine.
Hints for Japan ...
Dear Asukal, so do you think that with a iPAQ MM2003(first or second edition) patched for displaying japanese characters, and a Nokia 6630 I'll be able to send/receive e-mail while in Japan?
And, for a matter of costs, would you suggest to buy a SIM in Japan rather than roaming from Japan to Italy?
Any other hint for a European guy?
Thanks again a lot. Domo arigato

i e-mailed u last night about Japanese input Atok, also i made cab files of another Japanese SIP "POBOX" which has predictive input system.

about SIM in Japan, Japan has no prepaid SIM card. you must make conract for a year! it was cost and troublesome for forginer.(ask some japanese friend to buy his name, US$100 at the first and US$30 per every mounth. One year contract.
So i suggest use your italy SIM.
Thanks a lot Asukal, it was a joy to me to receive your quick reply yesterday evening. I've followed you suggestions and now I have a HP hx2410 - Windows Mobile 2003 se v. 4.21 perfectly "japanized".
Showed it to the Japanese manager who's going to use it and he was very satisfied.
P.S. We were told from a japanese guy that, when we go to Japa we can make contract with DOCOMO or VODAFONE. Particularly with DOCOMO, asking for a contrat FOMA we should receive a SIM card.
You know, it is not that I want to have SIM cards. To me it's enough that my phone NOKIA 6630 works there. But I'm to send a manager there and I'd better instruct him on what to do to make connections in Japan.
If you could confirm that, no matter which contract (with or without SIM card), we can work, this would bring a smile on our faces.
Have a nice day

Many Kinds of English ROM were uploaded to XdaO2-Developers.com,
You can download and write engish rom on your chinese rom.

"Interesting" 6.1 Hermes Russian rom help

I have stumbled upon what looks to be an updated version of WM6. Unfortunately the rom is in Russian and I do not have the time to translate/flash (I am in the process of moving) and was wondering if anyone was interested in taking on this task.
I don't want to give out too many details as there has been some backlash in the Wizard Mobile 6 forum due to a similar rom, so please pm me if you are in helping out. I will try to check my messages as often as possible, but understand that I cannot hand this out to everyone at the moment.
Thanks in advance.
(ps. it claims to be wm6.1 but I can't confirm as I do not speak Russian, but the files seem legit...)
Can you please post a link to download this "russian ROOM"
i wouild like to see how is it working on hermes - Thinking of sending one to a friend of mine in Russia.
umm i was lookin into building my own rom.. translating one could be a good preparetion i think so link me?

= Solved = Can you get a Rhodium to work like a Raphael in Japan?

Hi there!
I apoplogize if my Google-Fu is weak and something similar has been posted before, but I personally couldn't find it, so here it goes:
I am in a little bit of a tigh spot atm.
Here comes the sob story, feel free to skip this to get to the actual question at hand:
I am currently on Softbank in Japan, want to get a HTC smartphone (not the dumbed down stuff they try to sell you here) so the plan WAS as follows:
1. Get an unlocked Touch Pro
2. Get the Full Data Flat Rate
3. Setup the open.softbank connection, MMSLite and all the other good stuff posted here by guys who gave a total noob the confidence that it can be made to work
So the Touch Pro was ordered, the subscription changed (will be effective of September 11th - yeah, I know, ominous date *sigh), the neccessary .cab files downloaded and anticipation set in.
Today I got the bad news that the online store that sold me the Raphael was actually out of stock (despite the fact that it doesn't show up on their website, they confirmed the order and I made the payment last friday). After having an attorney in our company threaten them that he would have all their bank accounts frozen if they didn't refund me within an hour I got the cash back within 10 minutes, so no money lost.
BUT
As far as I can search, I cannot find an online store that will actually sell you a Raphael for less than 100.000 Yen or thereabouts, yet Rhodiums are in abundance and at an expectable price of 80.000 - 90.000 Yen (that is what I could dig up on short notice). So it looks as if I "have to" get a Rhodium, since I physically refuse to fork over that much money for a Raphael.
Now for the actual matter at hand for those who are busy:
From what I can tell the bright heads here have been able to get a Raphael to work near perfect in Japan (i.e. use the flat-rate properly, get MMS to work via MMSLite303, read and write Japanese etc.) BUT apparently the same cannot be said for the Rhodium from what I could gather with my possibly weak Google-Fu. The connection set-up seems to work but regarding MMS and Japanese input everything appears to be still under development. I know it will get fixed eventually, (still, I want to be able to confidently step up to the iSheep surrounding me and laugh in their face )
So what's the current status on getting a Rhodium to work the same way as a Raphael on Softbank in Japan?
Any help will be highly appreciated!
EDIT
Yes, it is possible. Got the phone yesterday, set up everything and it works like a charm. So if you are in the market for a Rhodium in Japan: Do it!
And once you're finishied, be nice and say thank you to all the people who racked their brains and originally came up with the solution and then put it into nice and easy .cab files like BeeGee_Tokyo, Shunsai, Larsuck, Asukal and many many more

Check my website. All I wrote there is at the moment working on my TOPAZ aka Diamond 2 under WM 6.1.
Should be no problem to apply the same to a Rhodium.
Yeah, BeeGee's site was pretty helpful to me (i'm using the rhodium in japan too btw).
i haven't gotten my first bill yet since independently changing from Softbank X01HT to an unbranded HTC Touch Pro 2 (i don't actually use internet on my phone anyway), but i'm pretty sure it will be no different than normal. i just popped in the sim, ran the softbank connection setup cab, and i have been able to send and receive MMS and SMS messages and phone calls no problem (well, setting up the Softbank MMS is a little intuitive).
it was a little tricky for me getting Japanese input/output to work, but i detailed my steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550605
there are a few other users in these forums somewhere in the same boat as us, and i think quite a few of them have gotten theirs working without much problem.
Thanks for all the great info!
@BeeGee_Tokyo: I am actually very aware of your website and the cool step-by-step guide it provides. Really understandable. Big *thumbs up* for taking your time to write it
@shunsai: Yupp, I also read your thread prior to posting. However, I got a little bit confused in the end since there was (at least for my n00bish self) no real conclusion how you can get everything regarding Japanese input to work properly. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate the time and effort that went into it, but the results appear to be inconclusive. Especially since it ended in a hard reset, which afaik sets you back to your basic rom.
Ok, enough kissing up After doing a little bit of cross referencing between several threads and BeeGee_Tokyo's page I have a few questions left regarding the Japanese input. I hope I don't appear as kind of a thicko, but I'd like to know what I am getting myself into since this will be a first for me:
1. The .cab provided BeeGee_Tokyo's page for Japanese input seems to comprise Asukal's LetsJapanWM6 (not entirely sure about the name) and the Ooki Japanese Input. Is that correct? If not: Please correct me an I WILL edit this post.
2. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything in Shunsai's thread regarding the interaction between the Ooki Input and the TP2 apart from something along the line of "Good, but not as good as a new piece of software could be" (briefly summarized, not quoted!). Anybody have any experience in that department?
What I would like to end up with when all is said and done is the following (rearding Japanese input):
- Be able to read Japanese
- Hardware keyboard still works for English/Romanji with all keys intact (Text prediction and/or XT9 are optional)
- Software keyboards to input Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji (don't really need it often, so using the stylus to input Japanese would be fine).
So in the end it boils down to this: Is there anybody who has successfully achieved the above on a TP2 with the .cab provided by BeeGee_Tokyo, i.e. LetsJapan and Ooki Input?
Again, thanks for all your help!

you are complete correct. I mixed Asukal's LetsJapanWM6 with Ooki Japanese Input. I love Ooki's solution, because it forces me to write Katakana, Hiragana and Kanji with the correct strokes

At least I was successfull Otherwise I would not share my solution
And another guy here in Japan contacted me and together we setup his Xperia X1 with my cabs.
And I setup my IT guys TouchPro with my cabs as well, and his keyboard is working for English/Romanji.
AND!!! ALL CREDITS FOR MY CABS GO TO THE CRACKS HERE ON XDA-DEVELOPER!!! All I did was putting together the pieces to an solution.

you've inspired me to clean up my thread. it seems that a lot of people passing by that thread didn't understand that i was finally able to figure out how to 1) be able to read japanese 2) write japanese 3) use both software and hardware keyboard to input japanese and english.
the hard reset you're referring to was just how my intial experimenting ended. the part after that (the highlights) is the actual steps/solution. but thanks, i realize now how unclear that was! LOL
i'll fix it in that thread later [fixed], but to do what you want to do on your TP2 you should do the following:
1. install Asukal LetsJapan6 and restart
2. install Asukal's IME_31J_FULL, but do not restart
3. install Asukal's Enable_IME and restart
that simple. romaji, kana, kanji, kensaku, tegaki (the handwriting recognition inputs) will all work. XT9/Predictive will be broken. And you will need to switch between かな カナ or 英数 on the soft keyboard to get the hardware keyboard to type in the language you want.
Okay, I'm so thouroughly convinced that I ordered the Rhodium today (should arrive on Monday) and plundered brando for some nice accessories (should arrive at the end of next week).
@shunsai: Ahhh ok, now I know what you were getting at. Thanks for the update here and on your thread!
But I'll probably try out BeeGee_Tokyo's .cab first and if that doesn't quench my thirst for Japanese input I'll give Shunsai's solution a shot. Reason? Shunsai's solution is far more than I assume I'll need at the moment and involves more than executing a .cab. Still, love that you figured it out and went through all the trouble associated with it.
Thanks to BeeGee_Tokyo and Shunsai (in order of appearance ), the crackers who figured it out in the first place and the community in general for being nice to a n00b.
I'll report the results of my efforts and once successful will mark the thread as "Solved" for the further reference of future eager-but-unsure Rhodium Owners!
Reading Japanese only
Am I correct to say that if I only want to be able to read Japanese, I only need to install Asukal's LetsJapan6?
I would say so from what I have read so far.
Optionally can follow the instructions on http://www.ookii.org/software/japaneseinput/font.aspx .
Admittedly, I still have to test all of the stuff in this thread myself once I get my Rhodium, but so far, I would say yes.
Deleted. No longer applicable. ;-)

Cooked ROM for HTC Asia?

I have an HTC Touch Pro2 running the excellent Rhodium_S2_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.07.707.1 ROM. I would have posted the link to this but the board says "new users are not permitted to post outside links in their messages". As it's an internal link to this website, I'm not sure what the problem is. Anyway, just append showthread.php?t=631563 to the end of the URL of this board.
I really like it because I'm a native English speaker living in China, and it's tailor-made for my exact situation. I bought a dual touch/keyboard phone specifically so I could handwrite Chinese characters. If I see an unfamiliar character, the only way to look it up in the dictionary is to write it - there is no way to know its pronunciation so you can type it with the keyboard. I just can't stand soft keyboards for writing English so I needed a real one. However, there are a few performance issues (slowness), as well as some lockups. Sometimes, manila.exe or services.exe will consume 100% CPU and when this happens, using task manager v3.3 and clicking "CPU" will lock up the phone.
Are there any cooked ROMs based on this distribution?
You can try English Rom + a Chinese Support Cab.
You can download the Chinese Support Cab here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=624048
Yeah, that's not what I'm talking about. So, there are no cooked roms of the stock Rhodium_S2_hTC_Asia_WWE_2.07.707.1? A pity, everyone commented that it was really nice, for a stock rom.
there is chinese website imitating xda,the link is:
http://www.xda-china.net/
It's solely in Chinese language, they have guys doing cooked roms,if you cannot read chinese, then you can ask chinese firend to help you find the roms.
