HTC compass

I've been looking on my device for the compass. I can't find the application anywhere. Could someone point me to where it is in the menu please?
Is it supposed to come with a compass app? There's no such app on my phone...
Why don't you just download one of the compass apps from Market?
Nothing built in, just get Compass from the market.

thanks.... I thought there was one built in as I thought a compass interacted with google maps straight away.

the compass is their (built-in), check the specs. but if you want to utilize it you will have to install an App!
for google maps use the following
Looking at a location in Street View
Street View mode (available only in selected areas) provides a street-level view of the
location.
1. Do one of the following:
Touch and hold a location on the map, and then tap the balloon that appears.
Search for the place you want to view. See “Searching for a location” in this chapter for
details. When you find the place, tap its balloon.
2. On the location details screen, tap Street view.
3. To navigate in Street View, do any of the following:
Swipe your finger on the screen or the optical trackball to pan up or down or to look in
other directions.
Tap the displayed arrows to move up and down the street.
Press MENU to select from other navigation options.
**While viewing a Street View of a location, press MENU and then tap Compass mode to turn Compass
mode on. Tilt, pan, or turn your phone to view the area around the selected location.
Click to collapse
GoogleMaps has support for the compass from the off, you just need to enable it in Labs... turns the pointless dot into a useful arrow.
Quick note to say thanks to Rusty and irkan. I was wondering why the compass wasn't working in Google Maps and couldn't find the option to turn it on anywhere!
The compass is great, coming from a HD I thought it wasn't worth it but WOW, now I know where to walk rather than just walk like a headless chicken in hope

[Q] Disable multitouch gestures in Google Maps

Hi,
short question, search didn't come up with somethink useful:
is it possible to disable the multitouch-gestures in google maps?
When I pinch-to-zoom in Maps, the app sometimes accidentaly recognizes it as the rotate-gesture, which doesn't work properly on the desire, so this is quite annoying as it is almost impossible to realign the view to the north-south.
I remember this feature not being active on Auraxtsense (at least I didn't come across this bug). Now I am using Oxygen (2.0.3).
Is there a way to disable the rotation in google Maps?
You can tap on the compass icon at top left to re-align map to north-south. I don't think there is a way to disable the rotation.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
uhm, thanks, I somehow missed that

[Q] Having one landscape and one portrait widget

Hi forum goers. I'm hoping you guys can help me solve an aggravating problem.
I have two full screen zooper widgets that I use normally (with Nova). One designed in portrait for general phone use and one in landscape for use in the car/dock as it stands, I have finagaled the settings in such as a way as to make this work for a while. Unfortunately, every so often I have to readd the widgets to the home screen, as the on tap actions will frequently stop working. Is there an easier way for there two be separate widgets for different orientations? Or am I just chasing a pipe dream?

Question Moto G40 Fusion Google Maps

Has anyone used Google Maps in this smartphone for navigation ? Does it work perfectly...???
It works but GPS navigation isn’t available, so its hard to navigate. And blue dot is not accurate
