Has anyone used Google Maps in this smartphone for navigation ? Does it work perfectly...???

It works but GPS navigation isn’t available, so its hard to navigate. And blue dot is not accurate

HTC compass

I've been looking on my device for the compass. I can't find the application anywhere. Could someone point me to where it is in the menu please?
Is it supposed to come with a compass app? There's no such app on my phone...
Why don't you just download one of the compass apps from Market?
Nothing built in, just get Compass from the market.

thanks.... I thought there was one built in as I thought a compass interacted with google maps straight away.

the compass is their (built-in), check the specs. but if you want to utilize it you will have to install an App!
for google maps use the following
Looking at a location in Street View
Street View mode (available only in selected areas) provides a street-level view of the
location.
1. Do one of the following:
Touch and hold a location on the map, and then tap the balloon that appears.
Search for the place you want to view. See “Searching for a location” in this chapter for
details. When you find the place, tap its balloon.
2. On the location details screen, tap Street view.
3. To navigate in Street View, do any of the following:
Swipe your finger on the screen or the optical trackball to pan up or down or to look in
other directions.
Tap the displayed arrows to move up and down the street.
Press MENU to select from other navigation options.
**While viewing a Street View of a location, press MENU and then tap Compass mode to turn Compass
mode on. Tilt, pan, or turn your phone to view the area around the selected location.

GoogleMaps has support for the compass from the off, you just need to enable it in Labs... turns the pointless dot into a useful arrow.
Quick note to say thanks to Rusty and irkan. I was wondering why the compass wasn't working in Google Maps and couldn't find the option to turn it on anywhere!
The compass is great, coming from a HD I thought it wasn't worth it but WOW, now I know where to walk rather than just walk like a headless chicken in hope

Two finger rotation on google maps

Had anyone got the two finger google maps rotation hack for the desire? Know there is one for nexus one.
Desire is the source of all suffering.

[Q] Disable multitouch gestures in Google Maps

Hi,
short question, search didn't come up with somethink useful:
is it possible to disable the multitouch-gestures in google maps?
When I pinch-to-zoom in Maps, the app sometimes accidentaly recognizes it as the rotate-gesture, which doesn't work properly on the desire, so this is quite annoying as it is almost impossible to realign the view to the north-south.
I remember this feature not being active on Auraxtsense (at least I didn't come across this bug). Now I am using Oxygen (2.0.3).
Is there a way to disable the rotation in google Maps?
You can tap on the compass icon at top left to re-align map to north-south. I don't think there is a way to disable the rotation.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
uhm, thanks, I somehow missed that

Double Twist Gesture Bug - front camera doesn't open

Hi,
i have a Moto G5 xt1672 - brazilian model.
The phone have a Moto’s assistant app that support gestures to the device (called ‘Moto’, or here in brazilian Play Store, 'Moto Actions').
All the gestures are working well, except for the ‘Twist for Quick Capture’.
When i do the double twist gesture, the camera app open, with the rear camera activated.
But when i do the second wrist move, the camera app doesn' change to the front camera.
I already tried some things:
Cleaning the Moto gesture app cache and data;
Updated the Moto app to the last version;
Tried do the gesture in the android security mode;
Factory Reset;
But none works.
Anyone with the same problem?
ps: sorry about my english
Same problem here.
Moto G4 XT1622, italian model.
The feature initially worked, but after updating Android it stopped working.
Iv already reported this bug on the lineageos rom thread where the gesture doesn't work at all
All other gestures seem to work like chop for flashlight
I expect its a bug in the Moto source code if it's the same on stock rom

Moto Z3 , Z3 Play Gesture Navigation bar for moto Z Series

can bring gesture navigation bar from moto Z3 , Z3 Play to moto Z2 Force ??
It's already build in. Go to moto settings app and switch on gestures for fingerprint sensor. Then you can navigate with this. I use this already for weeks and love it. Best is that the visible area of the screen is much bigger and it feels great. I have tested android Pie for weeks ago and there it's not so good as on moto stock roms with oreo. I love oreo, hope Pie will never come. But ok, it must come. But we can live with that, right? Hope for a bug free android 9.0.1 edition. Oreo is easy to perfect
Edit: ok, sry, you mean the new moto navigation from Z3 edition series? That's not in Z2. Maybe there is a way to get it working? We will see
You are talking about the Pill geature navigation i got it. The thing is it is the feature of android 8.1 SystemUI on Moto Z3. Moto Actions is used to enable it. If someone mods the Moto Action and enable the button to trigger pill it wouldn't be of any use as we need Android 8.1 SystemUI. It could only be possible if we root ,mod both SystemUI and MotoActions but we have the Fingerprint Navigation , its preety close to it
i don't wanna use fingerprint to nav bar because i want to save vibration sensor
and my z play have burned screen i wanna save my new device z2 force
(now i use some assistive touch app but don't 100% work)

Z2 Force, very fast and very good. I use the fingerprint touch to navigate. Then you have a modern visible screen area and no burn ins at the bottom. And scratches, I haven't not one after very many month. So no additional screen protector needed. The newer Z2 Force seems not have this issue with the scratchable screen. Best phone I have ever had.
Oh sry, have read a second time. Ok, then I can't help you. Do how you like it

Save the vibration sensor? I use the fingerprint for navigation and it doesn't vibrate. You just turn it off in the settings.

oh , i just saw it can touch for more settings thank very much guy !
anyone facing gesture navigation "back" function, sometimes is back to home screen instead "back"? thanks
There is an app called "X Home Bar" and "X Home Bar Pro" (and other similar apps) that will give you a white bar along the bottom that will allow you to swipe left, right, and center up to navigate. These options that you can customize to your liking. I've found it to be handy and worked great on my Z2 Force.
