[Q] The most recommended and useful...

Hi, I am new in Android and in HTC, could anybody experienced with Android make some list of the most useful applications such as to fully handle with office files, file manager, PDF reading and other ones ?
I would appreciate it a lot.

I couldn't think of a better list than what everyone else has used. If you're ever worried about losing your phone, download lookout mobile. Its got a virus scanner as well as a phone locator.

I use screenshot for screenshots, battery usage I use the built in Android process, I have no idea what total manager is, wyse pocketcloud for VNC, and quadrant and linpack for benchmarking.
Also, adfree is awesome. It's like adblock for your phone.

Solved, now also app with more than 2GB are shown

uh.. the phone is interop or full unlocked?

I've tried the XAP you uploaded a few minutes ago and I still get only 11 apps. I think it's more than what I had earlier. (BTW I have HD7 Fully unlocked with Custom ROM)

this is a great application,but have no chinese language,

work corectly on my Omnia 7 with custom rom

it's really slow to list all my apps, since I have 90+ IsolateStorage folders (and I know people with even more apps installed).
But this app found some "left overs" from some app I did not unistalled correctly (app folder was still there, but the app was not listed among my phone apps)

yep.. i have 113..
with thousands of files... it's hard to speed up the procedure..

Oh man, I needed this... I'm always up against my phone's storage limit, and was considering writing an app like this just for my own usage. Thank you so much!! Simple, useful, and providing a feature that the OS itself lacks; the best characteristics of homebrew. Well done!

All that said, a few suggestions:
Fill in the Version field in the app manifest. It will make it easier to distinguish which version we are using, expecially for people who use XapHandler or another app that shows the version number.
Sorting by app title is good, but for an app like this I'm usually less concerned by "How much space is this using" and more by "What is using all my space" so maybe have the option to sort instead by Install size, Data size, or Total (combined) size? That would be fantastic.
Great job already, though. I especially like the background loading; it really reduces the annoyance of the wait time.

Here is my wish list :
A bar which can give a preview on how much space will be free when one or Multiple apps are selected.
Multiple select to see how much space apps take together.
Ability to uninstall app using the context menu.
Ability to launch the app.
Sort by Name, Install Size, Data Size.

Small bug: it doesn't handle ampersands in app names correctly. For example, "AT&T Mobile Transfer" turns into "AT&T Mobile Transfer"
Feature request 1: Add alphabetical deliminators when the app list is sorted by name so we can jump to a specific letter of the alphabet. That list takes a LOT of scrolling at the moment, lol.
Feature Request 2: Remember the previously obtained app size data and refresh it when the app is launched rather than starting over from scratch.

Your Must have apps!?

I hop from rom to rom, and always need to move my apps around ty TB. That said I like to know some apps you guys use on your evos.

XDA, swiftkey, boot manager, root explorer, xiialive (streaming audio), poweramp, sheet to go (for spreadsheets from work), adobe reader, dropbox, gosms, k9 mail... The list is actually pretty long since my phone basically mirrors the functionality of my laptop when I am not at home.

Funny you mentioned this topic, I don't use Titanium backup. Instead I backup my app on gmail through attachments, and when I install a new rom I log into my gmail account and download the apk's I need. Kinda ghetto, but it works.
The apps I find myself using are:
System Tuner Pro, terminal emulator, chainfire3D, realcalc, bluez ime, hacker's keyboard, maxthon browser, quicpic, root explorer, script manager, supersu, snes9x ex, n64oid

If I had to to live with one app for the rest of my life ... one word .. Netflix.

Since I'm using CM9 that doesn't have a built in fm it's Spirit FM radio.

I hear ya! If only my internet speed was faster. I've never heard of xiialive, is it more of like vlc?
Gosms have not tried. And k9mail is alright when I tried it last. Thank you for the response.

This doesn't seem that bad, if there is a trial I wouldn't mind using it but I do not use window that often.
When I do need to connect to my laptop I use splashtop.

tasker (root needed) (make jobs at time, place or any other condition like app starts [turn on wifi,...]),
titanium backup (root needed) (app and data backups),
gta3(^^),
chrome beta (chrome for phone with direct synchronization of bookmarks, open tabs,... to desktop chrome),
ultimate call screen (fullscreen hd callscreen replacement),
ttorrent (torrent client),
solid explorer (pretty nice tabbed file explorer),
swype beta (keyboard where you can draw the words over the keyboard instead of typing them)
and everything from chainfire what is usable for our device (root needed)^^

1. onenote - note taking app.. notes, memos etc.. syncs online and onto your computer. apps are available on the iOS too
2. double twist player (for itunes syncing.. I guess you'd need that if you are coming from an iphone)
3. ES file explorer - just a file explorer but capable of lots of other things once you root your phone
4. Swiftkey - keyboard that predicts your next word when typing.. pretty good and can save you time

Fancy widgets is better IMO than beautiful widgets. Nicer clocks styles.
Simple Calendar widget. Activate 4x2, multi skin to get loads of lines for diary entries, then shrink back to 4x1 to save space.

It's all very well ripping this post, and he could have phrased it better, but the guy has a point. There are no such thing as "must have" apps. It depends what you like/want and is entirely subjective. So you'd do just as well looking at the list of top apps on the Play Store (where you effectively get the recommendations of millions) as you would reading the opinions of those who post on this thread.
