[Q] Does anyone have a spare EVO 4G invisibleSHIELD? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to get a ZAGG invisibleSHIELD warranty replacement for my EVO 4G. Problem is, I don't have my original. Anyone out there have an extra (or an old crappy one you don't use/want) who might be willing to give or sell it to me?

It might be a little more than you want to pay, but, you might check eBay. I've seen open box for under $15.

[Q] Best insurance?

What is the best insurance for the HTC Evo? I bought mine from Best Buy Mobile.

Well I don't know about Best Buy Mobile insurance? I too purchased my EVO 4G from Best Buy (they were the only folks who even HAD an EVO..and it's the white one of course). Anyway...I pay sprint 7.00/mo for insurance. As I have read, if I run my phone over with a car, drop it and kill the screen, or drown it..whatever. I'm covered for a new phone less the 100.00 deductible twice per year. I figure 7.00/ month=84.00/year plus 100.00 deductible=184.00 vs 500.00 or more to replace is money well spent.
THAT said..I wonder how Sprint (who currently does NOT sell the white EVO) would deal with replacement. My guess is that they would send me a re-furb black one..don't really care either way.
What does the best buy cost you? (they never even attempted to sell me on my EVO)
Edit: Oh..and since I've rooted, (I only did so for full Nand backup and free wi-fi tether..good bye Time Warner rapists!) I realize that Sprint and or BB can "see" this..and void my warranty. Since this is the case, I have done the following: copied my sd card to my pc, use titanium backup pro, rom manager pro, AND Mybackup Pro..I'm good to go if something goes "south". Root your phone=full protection.
-SKB
rooted 2.2
I have Best Buy's Black Tie Protection insurance on my phones, and it can be nice at times. Main thing that it's missing from Asurion is theft/loss protection. It only covers damaged/destroyed devices.
It runs $10 a month, but there is zero deductable, downside is that it can take 2-3 weeks to get ur replacement. Or longer if ur waiting for them to get Evo's in.
I was fortunate in that I never even had to buy an Evo in the first place. I had purchased my Hero from BB and had their insurance. I had broken a couple of them and got replacements. Well, on the third one they told me that they would no longer be selling Hero's and I would have to pick a different phone, any Sprint phone with a retail price of $600 or less. And bam, got my Evo for free with no new contract, I win.
Side note, they don't care one bit if ur rooted. Feel free to talk about it with the reps there. Chances are, if ur rooted, you know more about phones then the people that work there anyway. The manufacturer warranty has zero to do with BB's Black Tie, they don't care what you did to ur phone. One of mine was run over, one was dropped with a broken screen, and the third was dumped in the toilet by my 2 year old. They never hesitated in getting me new phones.

[Q] Best place to sell used Evo?

Where is the best place to sell a used Evo with a clean ESN?
I would use craigslist but I moved to a rural area. (which is why I have to leave Sprint) Verizon will give me $155 but I feel like I should be able to get more for it than that. I've never used e-bay to sell anything before but I heard they take a good chunk. I have a small business so I have the ability to process credit cards but with all the scams I doubt anyone will give me their CC#. Any ideas?
Just sold my Evo on ebay for close to $300.
They take a small percentage, but the audience is HUGE so usually you make out pretty well. ( in my experience)
Recently sold an LG Optimus on ebay for $160, when the going rate around here (craigslist) was around $120 at most.
Try the marketplace here on xda. They don't take a cut, but you'll still have to pay shipping.
(from... Evo/MIUI/Tapatalk)
sell it on ebay, they are being sold like crazy.i think u could make WAY more than $155.happy selling ^_^
Yeah eBay is probably the best. And I've seen people buying for way more just because the seller included the box or had a crappy screen protector or some other little thing. And the ones sold as rooted even go higher.
I'm contemplating eBaying mine since the Evo 3d is so drool-worthy.
Thanks for all the replies! I'm gonna check out setting up an ebay account. I'm not a fan of Sprint but so sad to be leaving just because of the Evo 3D. UGH I'm freakin jealous!

[Q] Dropped Galaxy Nexus, now what?

Well the title says it all
I just dropped my phone and the bottom glass piece is shattered yet operable. My only issue at the moment is some cosmetic damage. As great as this might sound, it has put me in a dilemma.
Should I get a Asurion replacement for $100 bucks
Should I wait and pay full retail for a phone (I need to do this now in order to keep my Unlimited Data with VZW )
I personally love my Nexus, and the fact there is no BS with its bootloader and I can flash anything I want just makes it all the better. It is a safe bet to say the only way I would ever upgrade would be to another Nexus or another flagship phone.
Any feedback here? Or is anyone experienced with the replacement of a screen that could possibly give me an estimate to replace the entire screen+digitizer? (apparently the screen and digitizer are fused together so I am expecting the screen alone to cost somewhere in the 75-125 range.)
Thanks all,
Happy New Year!
Sorry to hear that
I would probably pay $100 and get the replacement, since the actual screen assembly costs $110-140 on ebay, you probably wouldn't find it any cheaper than $100 unless you buy it from someone.
If my screen broke I would instantly whip out $100 to get another.
If you've been paying for assurion, and now you finally need it, I'm not sure why you would need to ask what to do.
If you really want to keep the unlimited data I just got a perfect condition GN for $200 off my local craigslist. They can be had for as little as $150. No need to pay full price from Verizon.
Also paid $150 recently for a GN off of Craigs List. It's great.

[Q] Help: Options for a cracked phone and carriers

So i managed to drop and crack the lcd on my note 2 and the display wont show now. so after arguing with asurion on them not giving me a replacement even though i had insurance and was willing to pay the 200 dollar deductible. Now i want personal opinions on what i should do. Im most likely going to cancel with them seeing it will save me money in the long run since i am paying around 90 monthly. Now is it fairly easy to do a screen replacement myself on this device? if so can someone be kind enough to give me links to the part and a tut maybe or if theres an online solution. Then i was considering maybe flashing it and using H2o i heard its a decent company. does anyone know of any cheap solutions to a monthly payment?
any information will be helpful and personal thoughts on what i can/should do in my current situation.
thanks again

First of all I don't understand why asurion wouldn't cover it, unless you've already had 2 claims this year. But if that's the case, you might be better off buying a second hand device and selling yours for parts. If the LCD itself is broken, the minimum to replace is going to be $300+, and if you're not experienced at hardware repairs, this might be a tough one. As far as what carrier to go to, it depends a lot on your location. In cities, H2O is solid, and cheap, but straight talk is supposed to be pretty good (or better, at least where I live). Anyway, below is a link to one of the many youtube videos on this subject.. Good luck.

something about i didnt use my phone after the claim? idk i asked them to explain it but they gave me the same thing.
but yes the lcd is broken i mean i receive messages and stuff cause i feel it vibrate and all.
I mean i am experienced i replaced several screens on other devices.
well i live in california and my only question at this moment is, if i replace my screen can they flash it so it can work with them?
For the price of the phone and the screen replacement I personally would have asked more about this "something". If you have insurance and are willing to pay the $200 there shouldn't be a reason why a replacement is not issued. Is there more to your story? Well as it has been stated already in the other post the replacement screen is around $300.

[Q] Going to sell this phone. How much should I charge?

I'm getting my new phone in the mail tomorrow and going to sell this one on eBay since I'm sure I can get more than I would using Verizon's trade in. The screen has no scratches or cracks, and the outside plastic case just has a few minor scuffs. I see people selling cracked phones on eBay for $100+ so I'm wondering if its realistic for me to get someone to actually want to buy this device for around the same amount.
Also, anything special I should do before selling it? I'll take out SIM card of course, but should I leave it rooted so others don't have to or just return to stock?

I'll take the xda friends discount and take it off your hands for $30
But really, I would leave it rooted, but put a stock rom with a fresh wipe on it if it were me. Just make sure you clarify that on the listing. As far as price...That's really anyone's guess, but averaging some ebay prices for similar condition should get you close or tack on 20-25 more than the damaged ones.
I have a pretty good condition one with a bunch of accessories I'm trying to get rid of. Thinking of calling Verizon and getting it unlocked to sell for more as a true global phone.
