Swapping out the Camera LEDs - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Thinking about swapping out the 2 camera leds....
That board comes right out; and the leds appear to just be PLCC2's with a cap on them.
Thinking
Blue,
Obnoxiously overpowered white,
Cyan,
IR,
UV.
Leaning towards IR or UV, any input?
Would anyone like a walk-through for this aswell?
For reference, i am talking about [12]

Yea always have the idea on swapping the led to blue
Can you post the tutorial or pm?

Yea ill post the tutorial when i make it.

Kind of a neat idea, although I don't understand the point of going IR or UV? I only ever use the LEDs as a flashlight, so I think some higher powered white replacements might be cool, but that's just me.

would there be any way to add 2 more leds to the right side? keep 2 white leds, then 1 UV and 1 IR

Ha, UV might be cool. Wouldn't the camera sensor need to be modified to see IR though?

NOPE!
This is an IR flashlight. Pretty much every digital camera sensor can see IR.

I was thinking about that, but theres no easy way to switch between them so the uv and IR would be useless.

I guess I should've specified. The sensor can see IR, but to get the true IR effect, the sensor needs to ONLY see the IR spectrum. Or maybe you could devise some IR filter? Those pics look like a regular sensor capturing IR light, which looks kinda weak and purplish. It's cool though, sounds like a sweet mod and you should go for whatever is most useful to you.

changing the notification led would be nice to have multicolor besides red, amber and green

That is probably the only thing I miss from my old Droid 2. I'm thinking that would be more complex than changing the camera LEDs though. Plus, how would the phone know that it has those additional colors to utilize? Maybe an app like "blink" or something..

Im pretty sure that LED is a 0603 package. -im not a robot
If your not familiar see below.

Those LEDS are not PLCC2's,
anyone know what package size these are?

they are definitely package 1206 SMD LEDs / Mini PLCC2 / SMT LEDs
<-18000mcd? Im going to try and cram some of those on it

I'm wondering if the galaxy nexus has a notification LED like blackberrys have.
Some sources say yes other say no.
I'd love to get this awesome device with a LED.

Don't think we are going to know until someone has a chance to go through all the ICS settings. I wouldn't put them past it though, as it was a pretty in demand feature even back when the N1 was released.
I'm thinking about a hack to make the LED run permanently in your favourite colour, I'm sure it would look really nice
I doubt you will need to root to change the led color.

I am so happy there's an LED like the N1.
I'm not sure I can imagine using a phone without one now.
I know it's a bit off topic.
Does rooting increases the security level?
I think yes because every root requestion needs to be allowed by me. Is that right or am I wrong?

Without root this questions are not shown, that's right. But without root this not shown questions are always answered with NO by the system! The security level is higher without root, because you cannot grant root to an app which might not do (only) what you expect.

Yes, it's only Green and amber as per all HTC phones.
I prefer the way they've done it on the V to be honest.

one of the few thing s i hate about htc is the fact that they never implement this..
on a side note.. htc one x has capacitance buttons instead of softkeys in the screen..
what if for future htc releases, the shift the notification light to the middle home key button with muti-led lighting like the galaxy nexus?!! i think if many people like this idea, we should start an online petition to submit to htc to make our thoughts known!

Assume he means having a separate set of capacitive buttons (like the DHD did), rather than having the buttons displayed on screen like the GNex does.

A small mod for the Chinese wireless charging kit.

Hey guys, I bought the white wireless charging kit from Alibaba express and it works perfectly however I wasn't too happy about the indicator lights as they were too bright for me and I couldn't sleep at night with those bright LED's..so I went ahead and carried out a small mod. This might be helpful to someone so thought I'd share it here.
I opened up the charger and placed a thick piece of tape on one of the sides right next to the LED's. This side faces my bed so I wanted to make sure all that light bleed was taken care of.

Then I cut out small pieces of black tape and placed them right above the LED's.
Here's how it looks.
I also stuck an NFC sticker on the inside which I've programmed to toggle between silent modes and use before going to bed.
Here's how it looks, a good round LED with no light bleed and NFC functionality as a bonus
Sorry I didn't take any before pictures but those who own this charger will know how it looks and is not very pleasant.
Cheers.

you should of opt for a black base, not light bleed and less bright.

Maybe I am talking b.s here, but isnt white always a combination of RGB? I mean wouldnt it otherwise be either R, G or B according to its wavelength? White is a combination of all those. So it should be a question of implementation. CMIIW

Not necessarily, according to Wikipedia: "the development of the first white LED... employed a Y3Al5O12:Ce, or "YAG", phosphor coating to mix down-converted yellow light with blue to produce light that appears white."
ie, some white LEDs only produce white light when you stick a voltage across them.

With the absence of color I'd like to make like a Rapid Flash, Slow Flashing, Solid cycling light for like Text messages, missed calls, and emails respectively
The frequency setup with lightflow works. I use a fast frequency for charging and permanently on for fully charged.

samsung s20 ultra Proximity Sensor white flashing

what i need to know is it normal for the Proximity Sensor to flash white when i am makeing a phone call and only when i am makeing a phone call with my s20 ultra.
everyone i have talked with at samsung keeps telling me its a bad screen its a bad screen. I am not sure it is now. because the guy i work with has a note 10 or note 10P and he has a white light as well when he makes calls. Had him test it today.
Can someone please explain to me whats right and whats wrong.
I am really confused i get the feeling samsung customer support has no idea or is an iphone user working for samsung.
I have my phone set up to be returned to be replaced but it would be wonderful to know its normal or not.
if anyone needs a video i got one of it flashing for you to see
That is completely normal. Its been like this since s10. No need to worry about it
Relax it's normal and will flash when making calls. This has been asked about a dozen times over different threads in the Samsung community forums. Whoever was telling you bad screen at Samsung Support is dumber than Sh*t! ?

There's no notch for the proximity sensor, so it uses light from the display which is picked up by the camera if your phone is against your face.

Sorry - this Jonboi guy isnt quite right - it doesnt use light from the display. There is a conventional infrared proximity sensor mounted beneath the display.
It shines directly through the OLED panel when you are in a phone call and your head is not within the correct distance to shut the screen off.
You can see it if you look closely on teardowns - I've highlighted it here on the note 10 teardown:

The flashing light to the right of the front camera IS the proximity sensor. If you don't believe me, call someone and watch it flash. Pop your finger over it and the display turns off.
