[Q] lg fathom free ram - eXpo GW820, GW825 IQ ROM Development

anyone out their has a solution to free memory (ram) on lg fathom
i know many of you might be having fathom with you
the free ram i hat at startup is only 70 mb and after time it is decreased to 45 mb
if we have more free ram ram we can run more skins apps . games
htc sense ui tooo
so if anyone can help freeing ram
as of now toshiba tg01 roms have managed to free 140 mb of ram
can lg fathom have more free ram
anyone is developing customs roms

Wait did you install a Toshiba TG01 rom on it? Or were ya just using it as an example?
But check out the Dragonstorm 23568 rom...
According to this, http://www.lg-expo.com/lg-expo-how-...-sense-2-5-(includes-fix-for-native-lg-apps)/ it works... So I'm wondering if theres an even more basic bare minimum rom somewhere.

Benefit from 128 MB upgrade - Speed?

I am thinking to tweak my Universal to 128 MB, but what exactly is the benefit?
I think the speed will go up because the os can put files in the ram but it is really noticeable?
Thanks
Fritte
Apps like Opera and Navigon will greatly profit from more RAM as they eat our measly 30 MB free RAM (best case) alive. You might see more speed on previously slow tasks like opening the Windows folder if the ROMs cache settings has been tweaked to suit the available RAM. But other than that programs just give you a message once you run out of memory and as there is no page file no slowdown occurs.

Desire Z/G2 Reserved RAM amount?

Hello,
as in this post, I'm trying to track the amount of reserved RAM in different devices. Could someone tell me with the app "Free Memory" what's the linux-usable amount of RAM?

I couldn't find it in the market, care to provide a link or the author's name?

Otherwise you can type "free" in the terminal emulator.
Your free memory app returns 372MB
Thanks, I suppose the desire z with the stock rom reports the same amount, if someone can confirm it he already has my thanks
373.2 MB of RAM on my Desire Z with stock ROM (I didn't use Free Memory but Elixir).
Could someone explain to me why it doesn't display 512 MB?
Thanks
It's because part of the RAM is reserved for system use (gpu, radio, camera, ...). Some very similar phoned have the advantage of using less for the same tasks, but 373 is not bad, the nexus is great in that.
Thanks poochie
Just pure curisity: this is different from the way Windows Mobile is managed? I don't remember having ever heard of reserved RAM in WM but I may be wrong...
The few WinMo phones I saw far back in the past don't do this, but to be sure we should ask to someone with one of the newer phones. I would find very interesting to know the RAM stats of Htc's Hd2 with both android and winmo.

Don't worry, Android is a lot better than managing its memory than WinMo 6.x. WinMo needs to keep a fair bit of free memory or it really starts to bog down. Android can cope with using a lot more of its RAM.

Android no longer boots on my HD2 so I have posted the question on a French forum. Here are the replies I got for total RAM (results given by Elixir):
- SD card with Android MDJ_FroYo_HD_v._4.6_MDJ_S78.0 (WM ROM: HD2 en ROM Artemis v50): 413.3 MB
- NAND : 410.9 MB
Knowing that the HD2 total RAM is 448 MB this means only about 35 to 38 MB is reserved RAM.

Thanks Stevie. I have also noticed that Android does manage RAM much better than WM so I have no worry. It was just to ensure that I hadn't missed something with the way WM managed its RAM
Now that you guys mention this, I realized that my available memory ( which I believe is ram) barely makes it past 220 when I clear my tasks in my manager . Isn't that extremely low ? .

No thats what's expected.. Type free into Terminal emulator to see the nimbers these guys are getting

Correct. The total amount is 768, but some is used for OS stuff.
Yeah first 130mb or so is reserved for system use. Stops apps from grabbing all the memory and making your phone lag.
Sent from my performance enhanced Desire HD
Not OS stuff, more for low-level hardware. Linux only sees ~624MB RAM. Some claim the rest is taken by Fastboot, but disabling it does not free it up.
I suspect it is probably used for GPU memory, unless there is some limitation on the max memory the OS can handle.
Another option is that it might be some kind of volatile filesystem.
Hmmm.
My desire hd says , gig in ram, used 411 MB and have 752 MB free.

Bad pictures I know, but there you can see.
Not rootet, new OTA update as rom.
And I have allot of installed apps.
411 mb it says.
That is not RAM, it is the internal storage (NAND). It has about 1.5GB of usable space.

Ok, thanks, thought it was this it was about.
Sorry for messing up.
According to HTC it says 768 MB. but maybe some are reserved for system APP
DHD has 768MB all RAM memory, 640MB for apps, 128MB is isolated for the ARM7 processor that operation radio (radio = your all wireless connection)
DHD has 2GB nanad flash.
550MB for OS. (after update to 1.72 reduced to ~450MB)
1GB for data.
300MB for cache.
Sorry, OT.
@syklitengutt: How did you get so many icons on your power control widget? Are you on 2.2 or 2.2.1? I am getting only the default 5 icons and I am unable to change that.

128mb is reserved for the chipset, but the majority of it is used by adreno as vram....
Try advanced power bar, its fully customizable
reply to this. ok
i have 653,561... so 653mb ram in my DHD. that is total memory showed by memory booster lite its freeware and its GOOD app.
so 653? why not showing 768? are there reserved memory for OS ? best i get to free ram was 510 mb free and 150 mb used... answers please
use GDE it uses less ram than sense. i pick GDE when rebooted and it saves about 10 to 20% of ram!!!!! GDE good.

[Q] Save RAM

Hey Guys,
is there a way to save RAM ?
I'm using this Rom & I have only 79Mb free of RAM.
I tried zeppelinrox V6 SuperCharger
But it doesn't work.
so does anybody know an other way ?
Hmm and a question,is tehre a way to disable Sense 3.0 Task-manager ? cause maybe V6 SuperCharger doesn't work,cause of task-manager(maybe he kills it)
JuLiian
no need to think about the ram handling. when its going to be full (mean few MB), android will free some ram
One thing you should know about Android is that it takes care of itself when it comes to freeing RAM and all that. Using task killers and RAM optimizers can do more harm than be helpful. I wouldn't worry about not having much RAM available since Android frees RAM for you when it gets a little low. Maybe check for apps running in the background.
Two excellent guides which support meaples opinion:

faster rom with smallest footprint and free memory for Sprint TP2

I have a sprint Touch Pro2 with Energy rom & iphonetoday UI which works quite well.
I am looking for a faster rom with smallest footprint and free memory in excess of 128 mb so that I can run IGO GPS.
I dont need the cht editor or the rest of the stuff.
The GPS is known to have out of memory issues if the available free memory is less than 128 MB
Please suggest

You could try Loading your programs onto the SD Card, this would most likely solve the memory issue, the TP2 supports up to 32gb SD, I have a 8gb and have loads of space and i have tons of programs loaded.
its about free ram not storage space. I already have 8 gb SD card installed.
I have total ram of around 181mb out of only 111 mb is free for use.
IGO needs 128 mb free to work properly
Freeza's Bare Naked, one of Calkulin's older stripped roms, a Titainium Rom like UserRom, or maybe Scrosler's Sprint Basics rom with Sense disabled or even downlowd Scrosler's kitchen and cook one for yourself.
Any Titanium ROM will do.
