[Apps] Epic Touch 4G Deodexed System Apps - Epic 4G Apps

Hey guys I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested in this but I think it would be cool to get some of the newer apps from the Epic Touch 4G working on the Epic 4G.
I would think that it would be pretty straight forward, however, I haven't tried any and I really don't have the time either. I hope this helps...

[Q] froyo 2.2.1 for evo?

What ever happened to Froyo 2.2.1? My MyTouch 4G had it, but Evo doesn't. Why? I'd like to put it on the Evo! It has some features I miss.
The main update was to fix an exploit that allowed easy rooting.

Maybe so, but I still rooted my MyTouch 4G, so I guess it didn't work. It offered a few benefits also, like fast boot and changes to the notifications bar pull-down, etc, etc. It was a real upgrade to 2.2 and I'm surprised it was released on a couple of new HTC phones but was never OTA'd to all their other phones (especially the ones like Evo that gets all the upgrades). It didn't come on my MyTouch, it was an OTA after I got the phone

[Q] Help please

I have my Epic running SyndicateROM 1.0.2. Can anyone tell me if its a normal problem of the rom to mess up my mic? People say I sound faraway or like I'm whispering and in reality I'm almost yelling. I need to know if its my rom or if I should switch out the phone for a new one I've only had it a week and have 30 days to switch to a newer one or should I just get an Evo?
Probably best to use the EB13 Extended tar, odin it to your phone (do a nand backup first).
Then check out how it sounds.
It sounds like a hardware issue really; but you could double check that way.
If it is; you'll want to odin a stock tar to bring it to sprint for a replacement. They won't fix or replace it with a custom ROM on it.
Good luck
I would try opening up the voodoo control application and check settings. There is a mic profile in there you can change. See if that makes any difference switching back and forth between profiles. Since 1.0.2 includes the voodoo sound in the kernel it seems that maybe something just got messed up with that. If that doesn't work odin back to stock as last person said to check that it's not a hardware problem. If it's better after odin then go back to ACS again and see if it's fixed, maybe just a bad flash as my mic actually seemed to be better after going from stock to ACS.
I personally wouldn't recommend switching to evo, its a slower phone, and the screen while slightly bigger isn't nearly as nice, plus even if you use virtual kb a lot its still nice to have the option of the physical.

Do you think I could get the Nexus S? You think it'd be a good trade? I heard it wasn't as good as the Epic but I wouldn't know.

Personally the keyboard in the epic is more important to me than the additions nexus S would give.
Differences:
Nexus S
+ Has NFC and Gingerbread.
+ Thinner
- No microSD slot
- No hardware KB
Epic
+ Hardware KB
+ microSD slot
- only (officially) on 2.2 - Though this is likely to change soon w/ CM7, and hopefully once Nexus S is released it will make software updates for our Epic easier.
- No NFC (I couldn't care less)
As far as I'm concerned the only down side of the Epic vs Nexus is software which can be fixed by our great devs here, and hopefully once the Nexus S 4G source drops there no longer is a software gap.

[Q] Flash Fascinate Rom

This might sound like a stupid/noobie question, but is it possible to flash a Fascinate rom onto the Epic 4g without catastrophic nuclear disaster? I just thought, given that they are the same family of Galaxy S and are both CDMA, that it might be possible. Would the keyboard still work?
I am asking because i am trying to get my Epic to work on Verizon. Is there anything like the xv6900s where i can cook different carriers settings into roms?
Thanks in advance!

No, do not do this! Always make sure the rom you flash is compatible with the Epic. No other phone's roms will work on our phone.
I also do not think our phones are capable of working on verizon.
Flashing a Rom not for your phone is a great way to wind up with a technologically advanced paperweight.
Wow I wish we could do this. No don't flash any other rom to the epic other than want is on this forum

No, hell no, jesus christ DON'T DO IT!
If you want your Epic on a different network, that's not too difficult. Look around the web, there are guides.

Epic 4g on Pioneer Appradio 2

has anyone been able to successfully pair the Epic 4g with the apps2radio?
I was able to get the pair it fine. But when trying to use the apps or Pandora...the icon is blacked out. (meaning i cant select it)
the install went great. everything works accept the apps. i even downloaded all the supporting apps on my epic.
I feel like im missing a step or maybe the epic isn't compatible. A little help please.
Epic is running CM9 4.0.4 ....
bump!
The Epic 4g is not a compatible phone as far as ive found. (I have the same phone)
It is not able to display video out of the usb port meaning its not an MHL enabled device.
Hope this Helps
Im waiting for the Galaxy s 3 or maybe getting a gs2
yeah i realized that...i upgraded to the ET4G ...ill say im happy with it...but at the same time i miss the keyboard alot. haha...and 2.3.6 sucks...i rooted and loaded CM9 the same day i bought it....put it back into the radio and it didnt pair...after a lot of research I come to find out CM9 does not support HML ...so no pairing took place...so i went back to the stock build and cleaned house on it till a Rom comes out that supports HML....the appradio2 doesnt like roms to much lol

epic 4g touch port.

Man it would be awesome if we could all band together and port the official jellybean rom from the epic 4g touch. Does anyone else want to try? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1Bt55Ngass
And that's different from the touchwiz roms that people have asked for (and been explained to why it isn't feasible) 10,000,000 times how?
