SDIO - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

Does anyone know if our phones support SDIO. Would be nice to have when they come out with sd cards with NFC support.

Check your battery. You already have NFC.

Whaaa? Sprint Galaxy SII has NFC? According to every blog I've read, that not right. Am I wrong or is it hidden or something? Anyways it would still be nice to have SDIO for any future upgrades

I am in the wrong sub forum.
lol, my bad.

USB Host support

Something new like this, I would think there would be, but I haven't been able to find much info on it. Maybe a day 2 release?
I found an article that claims the HD2, a sort of predecessor to the EVO, has hardware support and a hacked together driver:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/htc...02-will-droid-usb-keyboard-hack-work-evo.html
*edit*
d'oh! I copied the wrong link!
http://www.htcphones.net/htc-hd2-supports-usb-host/
talks about the HD2
I see that lots of people looked, but no responses yet. Argh... Maybe I'll email HTC and see what they say... I think this feature, if there, got sidelined behind the processor, screen, and cameras. Oh, and that little 4G radio lol...

Rom Bounty: ICS on P1010 - $90

Here is to start some development interest in the P1010 wifi only model of the GT. There is a ton of work for the 1000's and little love for the wifi only version. There are a lot of users with this tablet due to its price at this point and its only fair that there is even development throughout the models. Otherwise its just as bad as Samsung not supporting it.
I will start with saying that I will gladly contribute $10 towards the cause.
Updates will come with each users post/contribution.

Well firstly, a actual dev who is interested in ICS and who has a castrated version of the device needs to be involved and I dont think neither exist.
Second, It is in absolutely no way shape or form anything like Samsung not updating. This is a dev forum and nobody here is under any sort of obligation to update any device, devs here are members of public who share development they have done on their devices.
Glad I am rejecting the delivery of mine then.
The P1010 runs the OMAP3630 system on a chip but the 3630, 3621 and 3622 have that same PowerVR SGX530 graphics chip. And of course, all of the listed OMAP SOC models have the same ARMv7 Cortex-A8.
I have also learned that the droid X has that same that same PowerVR SGX530 graphics chip.
Both the nook color and the droid X have GB builds.
So this begs the question, why can't we modify a nook color or droid X GB build for the P1010? I ask because the p1010 should have the same hardware minus a cell modem, sim slot, or HID device. So shouldn't it be a matter of removing software from the build?
I know it isn't ICS but GB would be a step in the right direction.
I am in for 20$ for a ICS or GB build. Perhaps if we get enough cash, we can get a dev a refurbished P1010 to work with .... just a thought.
---------- Post added at 05:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:47 PM ----------
Any guides or information on how previous ports were started? I ask so that if a P1010 owner wanted to start down this path they could have a reference.
There was start on this when getting honeycomb on the device then I was going to send a dev a p1010 once it was done on the p1000 to get things moving, but to be honest at this stage my son my spare one now and uses it to watch his movies (http://youtu.be/chT6cV3HuDU) and plays angry birds ... which is as much as this device is worth now. Do not think I will trust Sammy again in the hardware front!
If a dev is willing to start again would be willing to help. That or will wait till my lad learns how to code >:¬}
Honestly it isnt samsungs fault... they made a bastardized version of the p1000 stripping the 3G sim slot. And made it cheaper then the big bro p1000.
You as a costumer made the bad choise im afraid... a tab without 3G option is... wrong.
Besides. Usually before i buy a phone or tab i actually check out the level of development shown in the threads here.

When samsung advertises the products the exact same way and don't list the soc specs on their website, you blame the consumer? Samsung also blocks reviews on its website that mention other products - even samsung products. This is a clear case of false advertising by samsung. Hell they even mention the front facing camera is perfect for video conferencing when android 2.2 doesn't even support it. The only way you can find out the products are different on the samsung website is to try and but the hdmi dock and see it isn't supported. Absent a GB update for it, the p1010 will be my last samsung product. They have dropped support for the product in less than 9 months with no updates and misrepresent the hardware.
I love the 7 inch size but not the samsung BS. My next tablet might be a 10 inch size but probably won't be a samsung.
Most people have routed phones with wifi tehering and don't want another data plan.
Or they use the tablet on wifi at home.

Good luck even on Gingerbread for P1010, moreso Honeycomb nor ICS.
So paying 200 for P1010 wouldn't be worth it cause it don’t have 3G Sim slot Least that what I’m getting as I found the white edition it states it supports 3G.
I guess from this thread everyone saying it don't have 3G Sim slot I just wanted to use Tmobile Sim card not as much I can live with just WIFI as I don’t want to pay extra fees for 4G is pricey.
Does P1010 Support Honeycomb Rom they have floating around or Gingerbread or would I be best to pay extra 60-70 dollars for P1000 version.
Glad I didn't keep it now..
i follow that beta testers, so excited.
i wish someone will make new version of android for P1010.
but i am sure i will pay 50 dollars for this works. i swear.
Im in $10 for ICS. No doubt!
Willing to pay 20$.
I'm in too!
Envoyé depuis mon GT-P1010
I could pay, but I don't have 18 years, soo... It's hard for me do a donate. Sorry, but I will be happy if someone do the rom.
Willing to to up by $50 as well

was thinking of purchasing this tab but after reading the views here, I feel I'll better stay away from it
(Already read about GB on it on Modaco and elsewhere but what we want is ICS or HC)

Just realized what the "Volume Problem" most likely stems from...

I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but I have a good indication of where the problem stems from.
A dock mode. Docks have the ability to modifying the volume of the device (some docks even have volume buttons on the dock), and most use either the microUSB port or the magnetic connectors to transmit the signals. It could be that certain frequencies are actually setting off the same signal in the hardware itself.
Then again I don't have one to test with and have no real backing. This is just a hunch I've thought up while watching a few videos.
possibly!! but did this really need a new thread??

I think we will see a reduction of threads like these when people actually get their phones, people are killing time on here in the meantime.
I dont mind this new thread, it gave me a new angle on the matter(positive if this turns out to be true) and finding this info by topic is way easier then digging through the rapidly growing main thread.

I have a hunch on the other hand that it could be radio firmware and how it translates RF interference.
Google employee Dan Morrill has already confirmed that an independent engineer's hypothesis is correct.

Ahh, well then this topic can be closed =P Didn't see that it had been completely figured out but glad it has! Then again I'm waiting for my VZW version which might not have the problem anyway.
To the other posters, before the link that oscillik posted what's the real downside of me posting this topic? Some people are curious about the problem and a new topic makes it a lot easier to see possible estimations of where it's coming from. Is it really that much of a debilitation to have to see an extra topic in the list??

[Q] Is it possible to clone an RFID card w/ GNEX's NFC?

Has anyone heard of using an NFC enabled device to imitate a RFID gate pass? My complex won't give me another one for my fiance. I thought I could copy it, and swipe my Gnex at the gate while my fiance use the proxicard HID.
I'm ignorant of the details of the two technologies, so this is probably impossible. Worth asking. Thanks
I would sure hope not. Sounds like that would be a pretty big security risk for companies that use such cards for sensitive locations.

It is possible I believe. I know for Bamboozle that the NFC wristbands had no security and I was able to get into VIP area with no problems.
I would imagine that it is likely since I doubt that their NFC security is high.
With Regards to cloning an NFC tag and an RFID card. No it won't be possible. You have mentioned two technologies that are similar but not the same. NFC and RFID work the same in theory, but at different radio bands. Think of it like ATT phones vs. T-Mo phones. Some PC adaptors can read/write both, but the GNex can't.
Second flaw is that you probably wouldn't be able to use the GNex itself to open the door. The much more likely solution would be to use the GNex to capture the info on the old tag and write it to a different tag of the same type.
Third, and this ties into what Self Righteos Banana said about the NFC wrist bands at Bamboozle, most places don't have high security on their NFC or RFID solutions, but the software isn't quite there for GNex to fully exploit this. We were able to read the wristbands and determine that all of them, VIP, 1 day, 3 day etc. etc. had the same info stored on the tag. They were relying on the site staff to visually identify the various wristbands as well as scan to see if they were genuine. With this, a little social engineering got us into restricted access. We weren't able to rewrite the wristbands completely without altering other bits yet though. One of us wrote Hello to an unused portion of the memory, but it wrote header info in adjacent bits, not zeroes. I assume this is based on protocols that the phone (or other NFC devices use). So we were able to read and write to the tags, but could not clone them. For that I think you would still need a PC until software catches up.
EDIT: Also since this is a question, I feel I should remind you to post it in the Q&A section and not general. Also there is an NFC Hacking subforum.
Thanks a lot for the valuable info. I'll hunt around in the NFC hacking section. Sorry about posting in the wrong forum. I won't make mistake again.

Are all the tags compatible with all phones??

I was wondering if all the NFC tags are compatible with all phones.. P.EX. i was about to get
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-NFC-S...130?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item231dcadbaa
10pcs for around 10$ but are they going to be compatible with xperia S which i own? Is this the same as the original tags included in the box?
Sorry if this is a NOOB question!!!!

Those will work. They aren't the same.
The tags included with the phone are Mifare Ultralight based. These are NFC Forum Type 2 tags with 64 bytes of memory (48 writable).
The ones you have linked are Mifare Classic 1K. These contain 1K or memory (~716 writable). These are *not* NFC Forum type tags. All this means is that they aren't guaranteed to work with all future iterations of devices. Blackberries, for example, don't do so well with 1K tags. Android devices though don't seem to have any problem with them.
Thank you, i am going to get them, and i ll get back here to post the results
wich devices support NFC?
Hey guys do Samsung Galaxy S2 GT-i9100 support NFC? if yes why my device dont support the NFC?
I am on Resurrection Remix ics V2.2
do it disabled or what's the problem?
Won't work on the 9100
From what I have read only special made 9100s will work with NFC. The one that I know will work is the 9100P. So if you have that one you are in luck. The other ones I don't think will. Also the Note will work, but that is a whole other phone.
