windowbreak project for the dvp - Venue Pro Windows Phone 7 Development

i read that the windowbreak project is going on pretty well for the samsung phones...so when i went to the link on my dvp i got the windowbreakme option..which suggests that it could work on the dvp....i would like to know if anyone has done it, because if in any event i have to reset my phone i wont be able to install any of my marketplace apps..i stay in the middle east where the market place isnt up uptil now...
http://windowsphonehacker.com/windowbreak/
thats the link...browse it through the phone and you l get the windowbreakme link...
would like to know if it would work..
and special thanks to all those involved in the project....

This method will never work to unlock the DVP. When we find a way be assured that it will appear in the DVP section of the forums

imho I'd watch this forum a bit more closely
Windowsbreak isn't going to work, but finding the original rom for the dvp is a good thing.
Assuming the BL is unlocked and the tools are there to relock the rom to flash on our phones...well...the dvp may not be so dead afterall

nice
THanks.,,,,,.........

Samsung Eternity SGH-A867 Questions

Does anyone know if it is possible to dump the ROM on a Samsung Proprietary OS? I have dumped the file sytem using TK File Explorer, but would like to get further into this phone. If anyone knows of tools to get into this thing please reply. We are all trying to crack this OS and get into the internals menu. I have a feeling the Master Key is hidden in the ROM somewhere.
Thanks
So I take it either no one knows, or everyone is busy with their WM platforms to mess around with one of these. I guess it is the same OS that is on the Behold and other Samsungs. I wish the eternity was like the Omnia so I could have more control over it... If someone has any idea how to dump and read the ROM please let me know ASAP. I have a spare phone that I have to send back in march cause the screen went bad, so I have one that I can dive into head first. I just have no idea what program can get me into the ROM.
Still nothing?
I second that.
I would really like to have a new rom for it xD
Agreed
I'd love this. It's ridiculous that we can't remove some of the crap that's forced on us with this. And I want some widgets and crap.
Can't believe i have such regrets over passing on the iphone for this sort of ham handed inflexibility
They are working on it..
I am following two other sites that are working on the Eternity.
http://www.samsung-eternity.com/index.php
Still need a master code, but hopefully that comes sometime soon.
This other site has one guy who is at least trying to make new widgets for the eternity..
http://innovator.samsungmobile.com/...atformId=12&parentCategoryId=4&categoryId=204
His ID there is kg_Eternity....
I am with you guys, left WM based phone and not real happy that I can't trick out my Eternity...

Root for froyo 2.2 problems

I know i know
this is a very touchy topic so i wanna take a different approach,,,lets say that devs are working hard on a root for 2.2 stock for all of us that are stuck ....why not let this thread be the new discussion for what is happening with root and why it is not happening yet ..like what devs are running into as far as problems go and what not...i am not a dev but i have been roming since the droid and hero an moment have come out ...why dont we help the devs as much as possible and all work together to achieve this common goal and not fight about it all day ...cause in the end we all just want root and everyone will shut up and start enjoying what their evo is really capable of ...thank you devs for all the hard work and such ..lets get this thing cracked asap...
Ps ...please would a dev who is working on this step up and give a status of what exactly is happening and if they need help...
There was no need to create a new thread for this...though I could understand tour frustration if I was in your shoes...
Sorry sir... you have wait like everyone else whoa stuck on the latest OTA.

Yes! I would love to have a real time transcript of all the devs' thoughts.
That would be fantastic.
Somehow I doubt that they would be jumping in here to update us, civilians, about their progress
Not to be the bad apple, but speaking realistically. When the Evo had 2.1, the Dev made comments all the time about that process and so on, and what to look for. This is different. No one is commenting at all. In fact, they are probable reading all these threads, looking at everyone's comment, calling each other and laughing. Why would they risk root, to help us?.. I'm just living and accepting the fact to live with the Official 2.2. Bottom line is, if they, the developers, were working on a exploit. What harm would it do to let the public know.. I'm not mad at the Dev. For 1, they're not getting paid an hourly rate to do this for the majority of people who will just download there hack without donating.. 2, they are already rooted. IT would be a different story if all the dev weren't rooted, and wanted total control over their phone. Then this would push them to find a way... And i mean thats just the way the world works. So you can't knock them for not finding a way... It is what it is... Just realisticly speaking
this process is killing me.....i miss hacking my nexus one, this evo 2.2 is a iphone that i cant fix up and customize...this sucks!!
I think the developers are busy on their ROMs. This seems to be more for the hackers. My question is: who are the hackers that have broken the ROMs in the past?

Think about it. If you were a dev with a rooted EVO, would you unroot and install 2.2 OTA and lose root, just so you could see if you could crack the 2.2 OTA?
God bless one of them if that's what they decided to do, but I wouldn't do that if I was in their shoes.

No. And like I stated in my first message, the developers are busy writing ROMs.
you dont need to unroot your phone to start trying to crack 2.2, unless im mistaken you can run the 2.2 image the sdk emulator and work on it that way. its how those who are writing roms probably test out their changes.

That may be true, but at some point the only way to be sure that the crack works is to test it on an EVO that has 2.2 either as purchased, or OTA updated. My point is that after anyone has put a ton of time and effort into getting something working just the way they want it to, there isn't much incentive to go and screw it up just to make someone else happy.

maybe you didnt get that you can have an image of the 2.2 ota.
and as a developer/hacker (i dont do phones so i cant comment on status here) the incentive is the fact you did it. trust, thats a very good feeling.
i understand its easy for everyone whos rooted to say, be patient, but thats all that can be currently offered.

My reading comprehension is adequate, thank you. My expectations are reasonable as well.
Rooting is a luxury not something that has to be offered up to the public. Up until recently it wasnt even considered completly legal. So for everyone here including myself for that matter that disregarded the warnings and took the update(also for the people who got their phones with 2.2 stock, thats just the way it goes.) Wait patiently, the devs dont owe you periodic updates on what they are doing with their free time. And enjoy your android phones, and if you wanna customize your phone, there are ways from the market you could do so with widgets and replacement launchers that can make your phone look original without rooting.
Agreed! Well said.

Progress of Android porting to S8500/S8530

Lets work together.
We have 4.01.2011 and I see no evidence nor progress nor real infos nor start...
Lets make some rules for this Thread.
1.
We want facts NO fiction. For discuss and dreaming use this Thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894990
2.
What should be post here:
- infos of progress... Example.
""Today I was able to boot Android instead bada on my S8500""
Minimum post then Pictures here or Video on youtube for instance as evidence
Perfect would be. Alpha/Beta status stuff for trying self... if possible for ALL users.
Best Regards
I think..
This post has multiloader in it..

I think the only way we are going to see and android port is if we start a bounty for the first person to do it, i mean other wise its not worth the monstrous effort it will take.
im agree with you!
Example what I mean... progress and description...
Here S8000:
http://code.google.com/p/jetdroid/wiki/JetBootloader
Now we should do this for S8500 too.
Best Regards
i want android on my wave 8530,very plz
Nah, I have android on Archos 101 - it sucks. I didn't find anything interesting for me in Android and it seems that bada is more stable than google's piece of linux.
bada is not bad, I thinks it's quite good. Ok, there aren't so much apps than for Android or Symbian - but they will come with the time.
bla bla bla , again new/old boring conversation about nothing
I cant find the site!
Some months ago i found a community site calle WaweDroid, there were trying a port, and of course i dreamed to buy and high end device for cheap and using my favorite os like with htc hd2, but now i cant even find the site anymore and there are no updetas about that.
Do someone any idea/news of that?
hello now wavedroid project is hosted in androidport.net
we (well , the guys that are working on the port im just a memeber ) would be glad if you join us!
cheers!
yes it is.
with serious people working on it
cheers!
Why is it still in Maintenance mode, Tonilo??
I thought it was only gonna take it 3 days...but it's been like 5 days since then.
i dont know...
have you tried the new web?
http://www.androidport.net/

While I do believe that serious people are working on the project (& keeping my fingers crossed too!), the site's owner fails to provide regular updates about anything happening. Actually there is no news on any progress on the site.
I am a member too but I need regular updates about any progress on the port.
Its because the site owner has done nothing but come across as a tool. They should appoint a developer to be in charge of keeping the community in the know
i think the same, and im not agree for asking money for nothing.
im quite dissapointed with the administrators.
i hope that they will stop to asking money or i will resign as moderator there
they have listened to mea nd it seems they will act with common sense...
Sounds like the more serious members on the wavedroid team are making progress.
Adfree, you should work with them on the boot loader, it will help you get a better understanding of the encryption that the stock one uses.
"hey guys this is what i heard from sachin
sachin is allready working on the kernel files of the galaxy s i9000 to make it ready for boot
ndt is busy with the bootloader with trix
i am busy with ida pro advanced 5.7 (get it)..."

[option] This might help fast forward

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Windows_Phone_devices
Here's a list of every windows phone released that runs similar to the DVP. The only thing we should have to do is port and change a few code lines. I'm gonna dive a little deeper hopefully tonight, if not tonight within the next couple of day
Porting one of these roms should enable the compass and allow a code for a gyroscope.
Edit: Found a post that might be very useful. Nosker found them before I did, I'm just puting them here for people who want to give this a shot. If you guys find anything else that might help us with roms please post a link. Thanks!
OsBuilder - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330850
Edit 2: Did a little searching and I found the closest phone for rom porting. Its only an Idea DO NOT FLASH UNTIL CONFIRMED PORTED AND FUNCTIONAL!!! It would also give us a head start.
http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/Dell-Venue-Pro,LG-eXpo/phones/4595,4268
Edit 3: Found interop unlock and root tool. However the root tool doesn't yet cover Mango so that should hopefully be around the corner. I'll confirm the root tool in a couple hours and let you know if it works or not.
www.wp7roottools.com
Thanks for putting in your efforts but most of the people have lost interest I think..
plus with windows phone 8 around the corner i don't think that'll motivate those who still are in pursuit..

is the note 5 dead in here

Is the note five dead in here or still on the hunt for root
My understanding is that if you want root or unlocked bootloader, do NOT buy an AT&T device. The unlocked international version is capable of root and custom roms, from what I have read on the forums.
Yeah well I want to try to take a stab at it so point me were I can go to learn to mess with are I mean are only bootloader I have Kali liunx pc that's why I asked if there is a team working on any of this for note 5 if not I just want to do this for my self you guys do know we have oem unlock witch that is a good sign then you guys have found exploits to I have not upgraded to nugget I'm on mm how many years has it been since this phone been out like it was one said to me in another forum u can't expect someone to do it for u all I ask is you point me in the direction to mess with are bootloader only and also tackle knoxs my other ? Is can I downgrade I'm asking all these questions in one post because like I said I want to do this for me I'm learning wifi hacking and I want to learn Android cause iPhone sucks I have note 4 unlocked T-Mobile but the software sucks or meaning custom roms they have yes I know all att bootloader are locked dose not mean they can't be hacked u got to take effort on wanting to do it anyways I'm post pic of what I got I'm willing to put in work if I new were to start
Even googling stuff can help https://www.bestandroiddatarecovery.com/unlock-samsung-bootloader.html
I'm glad I'm just sending this phone back you guys are no help a bunch of wusses to me but what ever going to T-Mobile
Most of us couldn't understand what you wanted. Mainly because the only time you used any form of punctuation was when you were too damn lazy to type the word "question" and used a question mark instead.
But hey, since you already thanked us for nothing, then that's exactly what you'll get. Have a great time figuring it out on your own.
