MultiTouch Fix - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Can anyone confirm that Multitouch is fixed in 4.0.4? If so, can it be backported to 4.0.3?

Multitouch is fine here brah, on Android 4.0.2.
Bought from Rogers Canada, China batch. No Multitouch issues (Have registered 10 finger touches in multitouch app...would have tried more but couldn't fit them lol), No screen banding, nothing. Absolutely perfect.
Return your device and get it replaced OP?

No it's not fine, even your GN isn't fine (if you're on Android <4.0.3), just you haven't noticed that yet. Two or three weeks ago i was making such false statements as you do now and now i do admit that i was wrong. Sometimes this bug occurs on every GN running Android 4.0.1 - 4.0.3, sometimes...

Forget these multi-touch test apps and play games. No, not 15 minutes. Play it for few days. Play + charge, play + answer a call, play + do something else and this big WILL occur.

Nope been playing Mario 64 and Golden eye for about 8 days now, constantly for hours on my charger, everything is fine.
I am running stock, 4.0.2. Able to Do the "yahoo" jump in Mario 64 for hours (hold stick, while running press "z", and press jump) thats 3 points of touch and I do this over and over instead of running because its faster. Its flawless.
So your experience is not everyone elses. Obviously.

You don't even know what the issue is. It has NOTHING TO DO WITH TOUCHING THE SCREEN AT MANY DIFFERENT POINTS. It has to do with the bottom right hand corner and the bottom left hand corner doing certain things in landscape. It doesn't happen in Mario 64 but it happens in paper Mario and in banjo kazooie. In paper Mario it happens when trying to run and jump in dry dry desert. In banjo kazooie it happens when jumping across some water. It happens in weird places but it does happen and your phone does have this bug.
Do some research. Everyone has it, your phone isn't special.

Nope tested both games, both play fine. Tested bottom right and bottom left corners in landscape running SNES, Genesis, and Gameboy advance roms as well.
No issue at all, I love having a perfect Galaxy Nexus. Hopefully a patch will come out and make yours behave like mine and properly.
I don't know how you guys could live with this issue. Is there anything you guys can do? I feel bad for anyone with this issue, glad I got my Galaxy Nexus from the unaffected batch. Love this phone

Even though there is a bug, you can easily get rid of the problem by just locking and unlocking the screen once the problem occurs, works fine for me when playing games such as Shadowgun!

Yeah, this is well known, but we shouldn't have lock and unlock our devices every ten minutes or whenever the multitouch starts borking.

There is no unaffected batch...

Adreno, I don't think you know what the actual issue is or you are not being honest. Go download PewPew and play just one round of infinity mode.

It's a great free game that I had to give up. Just to let you know, there isn't a single batch that isn't affected.
By the way, when you do play the game, make sure you play it naturally. By naturally, I mean that you press the both thumb point continuously as you play the whole round.

[Q] Will this run a PSX emulator?

With a decent frame rate?
I assume it will run GameBoid Advance perfectly too? (My Hero does, but a bit laggy sometimes)
Yes.
I tried Policenauts on it and it started perfect. Too bad it doesn't get past the title screen.
Really? Did you just try the one game?
This phone has better specs then the N1 and the N1 had no issues playing FF7

YOU SHOULD OF SAID SOMETHING TO ME BRO NOW I FEEL LIKE A ****
also are these kind of topics even allowed? I'm p. sure that you can't even download the playstation bios legally yet right?
So far I have tried:
Driver 2 - Works ok, framerate is low but do able.
Grand Theft Auto 2 - Works great.
Tekken 3 - Frame rate is low, its like fighting in slowmo.
Tenchu, Stealth Assassins - Works ok. not played for long as nagivating is kinda hard.
I reckon when you overclock your phone it should be better, right.
I used PSX4DROID on my Desire Z. (original)

Glyder 2 steering problems

Does anyone have issues with steering in this game? I can't steer, its not responding to motions. I wonder if its related to my phone being faulty or is it game issue on sgs2. On my hd2 it works beautifully.
Mine play smoothly.

Its not about graphics/smoothnes. Problem is about motion sensor not responding when tilting device. In other game like speedx it works well but not on this one.
I have the same problem, I think it's a bug.
What I mean is I got no problem sterring it.
On mine I can only steer up and down, its not responding to left and right
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Hmm.. my friend also can't steer left and right. Not sure what the problem is..
At least I know its now only me, wheater its good or not
Mine's faultless too.
download it from android market "not from Samsung Apps" it works fine with me .
just wasted 30 meg of my measly 500meg allowance to find out the market version does work, good testing samsung, plus its full of adds.
Great...
Just downloaded the market version and it works perfectly.
I assume you've calibrated your sensors again just to make sure?
It's obvious that the version in the Samsung Apps store is not fully compatible with the SGS II but the one from the Android Market is.

Of course it is. It is working with Gyroscope and not with Accelerometer. Try the game with turning yourself around. You have to be sporty to play this game
So please neither blame the devs nor samsung for this. They could have mentioned the difference of this gameplay but it is not coded bad or whatever...

Got mine today, really dissapointed so far. Awful screen, laggy as hell, poor button placement.
Tried it with dead trigger, didn't work all that well.
On top of that it has stuck green pixel near the middle, since the resolution is quite low it sticks out a lot ;(
The only good thing I've seen so far is the mapping software, it's buggy but very intuitive.
I've had it since the 19th, I got it purely for emulators.
The SNES and Genesis are perfect, the N64 is full speed but there's some rendering issues, the PS1 it plays but you can tell it's struggling.
The buttons are awesome and the mapping tool works fine, apparently there's going to be an update soon, but I haven't notice a problem.
Overall I really like it, plying games with the buttons is a million times easier than thumbling round a touch screen.

[Q] Does Root + Debloat Resolve Performance Issues?

I just got my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 from Amazon and I'm already having issues with it
I play Simpsons Tapped Out and this game ran without any lag on my 2012 Nexus 7. However, when I load up the game on the Galaxy Tab S 8.4, I am having major lag while trying to pan around the town and even while trying to tap the buildings to collect money. I imagine Tapped Out is an incredibly casual and lightweight game(resource wise), so it makes me worried about how 'real' games will perform on the device.
My question is, if I root and debloat the tablet, will this improve performance on the tablet? Or is this the kind of performance that I can expect from the Exynos tablets?
I found this thread, and I was going to follow those instructions to debloat it with titanium backup(I assume I can use that to debloat it). Has anyone tried this and noticed an increase in performance?
Thanks in advance for anyone who can help
As a follow up. I just went through and rooted the tablet, froze all that bloat and it's still performing like garbage in Simpsons Tapped Out. How is this possible that the Exynos chip isn't as good as a 2 year old tablet? Is it the QHD display? Is it TouchWiz that's causing it?
Out of all the reviews I looked at, none talked about this type of lag. This Simpsons game can't be that graphic intensive. Why is it stuttering so badly when I pan around the town?

May just be that that game is confused by the Exynos 8 core cpu. The device clearly has the power to run a simple game like that. In short, I think it may be the game and not the tablet.
One other idea. Try running Nova Launcher. But other users have had the same issue as you with that particular game.

That is really sad to hear. I can't get Family Guy working properly on the tablet and now this Besides watching content when I'm in bed, this is all I use the tablet for. It's making it really hard to format my 2012 Nexus 7 so I can give it to my father.
I'm curious if it's the CPU or the GPU that the game is having an issue with. I have had my eye on this forum lately and am getting excited that the CyanogenMod ROM might be the solution to my issue with these casual games. Positive thoughts :fingers-crossed:
Thanks for your input. I will say that it handles my 1080p content from my Drobo with BS Player flawlessly. So at least there's something

I've loaded up a few games under my current cm ROM and they have all played flawlessly. Though I haven't tried the games you mentioned, and I'm married a month away from having a baby so I'm a bit too broke to buy something I'm not going to play.
Tonight there should be a ROM with sound working if you want to give it a go.

Both Simpsons Tapped Out and Family Guy Quest for Stuff are free to play games.
I have been keeping an eye on your CyanogenMod thread. I have never used it for more than a day on my Nexus 5 before, but I'm excited to try it out on my Tab S 8.4
Clash of clans works great! Try it. It's crazy addicting
I installed Simpsons on my S 8.4, it seems to be running smooth for me. But I only started the game and my city is pretty basic at the moment, maybe performance issues start with a larger city ?

I wouldn't say I have a huge city, I'm only level 17. Nothing like my level 40 city in Family Guy. But I have a dozen or so characters unlocked in Simpsons. I can log out of my account and play as a guest I think to test on a starter city.
well, it wont' connect to the server now :/ but I will test it when I can
There have been reports of issues with this game on the other galaxy tablet forums as well. Since this tablet is fully capable of running even more complex games I would focus on the software as the issue. I'm not sure if these issues have been relayed to the developer but that would a great start to a resolution.
Sent from my Galaxy Tab S
Back to the initial topic: Debloating can eliminate some of the background services that consume processing power. But it would surprise me if this would result in any relevant speedup (on an Octacore).
Other than that, probably the color adaption+enhancement thing does cost some performance (and battery).
And Mali T628 drivers might not be optimized.

It plays perfectly fine on my 2012 Nexus 7. There has been a swarm of lag complaints about it on blogs dedicated to the game. So maybe it's on their end
We now have some excellent rom's in development which should improve your experience.
I just tried the Simpson and couldn't try to replicate the lag problem. Mind runs very smooth.

thanks for testing
i loaded a new game and it ran ok until I got about 3 or 4 people on the screen. i see different lag spots. one happens when it first loads people's animations. so even if i scroll away, when i come back it seems to load those animations again. another lag spot i see is when i try to tap on a building to activate the money or finish the person's task. when the money bounces out of the building, i see lag spikes here. they don't go completely away after i collect the money, but shortly after
the family guy from the amazon store plays fine and doesn't have this lag. i also read on some dedicated simpsons tapped out blogs that EA is aware of a lag issue. however, im not entirely sure if i am getting the same lag they are confirming. we will see though.

Out of morbid curiosity, have you tried my cm port?

Touch Screen Issues on Pixels?

You see I play these tiny games, Swing Copters, 1 and 2. These are games where you continuously need to touch the screen to keep the gameplay alive. Now I know almost no one else play these games, and other than these two games I myself don't play any games either
Now the thing is, I have been playing these games for like three years now. Started from Moto X, then moved to Note 3, Note 4 and now Pixel. Now I never had any touch screen related issues previously on those phones, but now on the Pixel I do have touch screen issues, as if one or two touches are missed/ignored if you continuously touch the screen, making the game impossible to play. Now I am unsure whether this is because of these games' incompatibility with Nougat, or simply a hardware issue on the Pixel!
So I am asking here, for those of you who play a lot of games, and those games mainly where you need to continuously touch the screen to keep the game alive (Angry Bird or Subway surfer won't cut it!), do you guys notice any such problems?

I just downloaded swing copters to give it a shot. I didn't notice any immediately apparent issues with the touch screen. I do play clash of clans and feel like occasionally a touch isn't registered, but it's like 1 time out of 5000 which makes me think I simply missed what I was trying to push rather than it being an issue with the screen.
Ha ha you just confirmed my doubt mate. It was already mentioned in google's support page, someone else also was having same problem, don't remember which game anyway. Its also not 1/5000 for me, but something like 1/500 or something, which is completely unacceptable anyway. I have been playing this game for over two years, and spread over three different phones and none had this problem, obviously, cause none had any hardware issue like this.
Thanks for your input.
I've had issued. There's a touch calibration app that really helped. But i recently rma'd and hoping that isn't issue on new device.

Best of luck mate. I have had the same on three XLs now. Two of them manufactured in the month of October, one January. Have no interest to test again, I am certain this has affected all the XLs, but whatever.
Created a topic on Google's support page too, if more users are here then please keep this topic alive. I don't have the phone any more, won't, so don't care personally but other users might get help from this.
