Or maybe it is a unsatisfied owner feeling like venting/discussing the very current (and yes well covered) subject with other owners in a DISCUSSION FORUM.
Sorry but in my opinion... someone that jumps right into someone else's conversation (it is obviously not a conversation for you, you make it clear you disrespect the comment and submission) and yells "troll" is him/herself the troll.
Grandma didn't say it exactly like this but it went like this...
"if you don't have anything good to say... then STFU"
Something like that.
By the way OP... I hear ya, so do a lot of others. It pisses me off every time I see a press release mentioning some new ICS unit and here we are... still waiting. I rooted and am using a 4.0.4 that makes it "usable" but it still has crappy phone/data coverage/reception and Verizon has been promising that "patch" since early in January well before the launch day buyer's return deadline. We shouldn't have to root and take chances like that... lucky for me I'm an IT engineer and am comfortable with it but I would have been much happier with a 'bone stock" unit that works right.
There are a lot of threads on this... but then again there are always a lot of threads on everything so... whatever.
Verizon is dropping the ball big time... my only hope is that the update they come out with will be better that the leaked 4.0.4 and that is what is taking so long... and at this point in time is still not an excuse.

Im trololo bcoz im talking the truth? I bought nexus device coz i had enough of flashing my galaxy s! I just wanna have fast, stable and bug free software.

It's definitely weird that the Galaxy Nexus is lagging behind update wise. But at the same time, it's a Nexus...if you're not on the latest OS version you're doing it wrong.

yeah you'r right, that's why i haven't a CM9 404 based on my device
("not rure if trolling or....")

Luckily you're in the right place if you are tired of waiting for the OTA.
See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1455
Unfortunately there's not much we can do for the official OTA though, for that you'll need to contact Google or Verizon.

You obviously missed my point. Your question was akin to telling people standing in the rain that it's raining. We all know our phone is running an outdated OS, that's why the current CM7 port is under way.
and don't worry, there won't be a release after gingerbread in a while because google is making sure that some fragmentation is going to be removed, which will allow manufacturers to catch up to the google release cycle
I'm not so sure.. And while I was interested in getting 2.2, i've been running that since December. While 2.3 is the latest, I don't believe it offers much of an improvement over 2.2, so other than just saying I'm running 2.3, I don't know what the big deal is, maybe someone can enlighten me and make me anxious for 2.3?
With that said, my guess is most people will be happy with 2.3 for all of about a week. Then they will be wanting something else for their pathetic lives.

GPU acceleration in certain parts of the OS, improved JIT, better battery, need I say more?
And there wouldn't be anything to ask for if Samsung had anything other than piss poor software.
I thought only the Nexus phones had Gingerbread so far.
If I'm correct, then we're not really behind - the developer phones are just ahead as I'd expect them to be.
If I'm wrong, then I'm an idiot as I expect me to be.

All of Sony's new Xperia phones have Gbread, though they're only released in Europe, not to mention the Gbread roms leaked for thr Droid 2/X, but so far only the NEXUS's have official Gbread in the U.S.
Oh okay thanks for that. I had no idea what the Xperias were running.
I still don't think we're actually behind. Every mid level and up phone having Gingerbread while we don't...THAT'S behind.

Just the fact that we are even uncertain about Gbread in the future is a problem. Even LG (a no name as far as Android is concerned) has promised a Gbread update for its Optimus 1 (a phone selling for between FREE an $50 on contract)

My OCD wouldn't let me go without fixing it.
In all fairness, we are not the only smartphone left out in the rain.
From a markting perspective, it sells new phones. This isn't iOS with one device to focus on selling.
If all android phones had the same OS and received updates at the same time, then you would see ads selling us hardware. Most ads point out the operating system as a selling point and this is because there's too much compitition between android devices as well as those of the same manufacturer (think samsung).
It's not fair but then again how are you to convince manufacturers to stop? Google is trying by their recent policy changes, but I don't think we will see a solid standard in android OS for another few years.
The complication is furthered by production of low cost, entry level android devices that don't play well or contain the hardware to push something like GB. You need this demographic since pay as you go appears to be a growing trend.
I am hopeful for a GB release but I know that if we want something bad enough, XDA will likely to figure it out.

I have builds of GB for both my Epic and EVO.
Not sure where all the fuss over no GB comes from, must be iPhone fans who get Android phones instead, wanting to remain stock for some reason

[Q] Are we, for sure, getting cm9?

I keep hearing we are, but I see no proof. Anything?
I am a total noob on here as well and I am not trying to be an ass when I say the following: Do a search!!
It is coming but from everything I have read on here from doing my own research, graphics drivers are a huge problem along with some other issues and CM9 will probably not see the light of day on the SGH-T989 until after Samsung releases their ICS build.
Also, it is never a good idea to ask for an ETA from any developer. From what I have heard from other people that especially holds true for Cyanogen.
I'm not asking for a ETA, I just want to know it's coming.

I can tell you that my TMO inside man told me that a internal doc was posted in the extranet that said the SGSII was getting ICS, but no date was included. With that said, when ICS is released on our phone we should see CM9 released within the month after that. Thats my guess.

Seeing how well Samsung's promises of software upgrades go (on the Behold and Vibrant) I do not count on ICS being available for them at any time in the near future and definitely not in Q1. I'm sure we'll see CM9 released before seeing an official version from Samsung. At this point, between Dewizzed and CM7 I am very happy with the device and can wait (or at least try to!!).

I'm sorry you don't like your Nexus, but no one is forcing you to use it. Feel free to sell it and buy any HTC phone if you'd like. Truth is that the Nexus will still be the first to be updated to vanilla Android, because no other phone in existence will have it. You go buy the HTC phone it will have 4.0.3 and that's amazing! But it has Sense, and when it comes to the next update, you'll be *****ing again that its not coming and you'll want your Nexus back.
The fact that you'd consider leaving the Nexus on 4.0.2 for an HTC phone on 4.0.3 because its x.x.1 higher leads me to believe that you don't understand how great having a Nexus is.
I dont understand this impatience. The nexus will get the 4.0.4 update, likely very soon. Google is just finishing everything. They are not sitting around doing nothing. And they are not purposely holding back. They WANT us to have the update. Its just taking time.

IMO, It really doesn't matter! I have used JB and ICS on my phone, and other than Google Now, I don't see the need to update to JB.
I look at it like this... the standard consumer is not rooted. The OEM and carrier have to smooth out bugs, and make the transition from ICS -> JB a seemless integration. This makes for a better customer experience.
Thats the business man... why release a sub par product and have thousands of support tickets for small minor issues.
From your sig, you're running JB already.
Pretty depressing if you ask me. God if the new nexus phone wasn't being made by LG I'd probably be all over that thing at this point.

Telus' S3 will get JB before the end of November, so I'm thinking we should be very close by.
Full application of project butter in an official release of jb will be worth it. Only reason my nexus is still stock is that the only rom on the s3 that comes close to matching its fluidity, for me at least, is tasks aokp. It's night, and day. Slow rollouts of software are just one of those burdens of this era in development. Fortunately, the software is beginning to be more, and more worth it. Someday you'll lecture your grandkids on how we didn't have all this fancy "cognitive request firmware updates, and 5tb/second data speeds" lol

First, 4.2 will not be key lime pie.
Second, its not Samsungs fault, its the carriers.
And being the carriers fault - you have to wonder. Do they each only have like 2 people working on the Updates...or wtf. lol

Because when there is a bug in CM, they can go *shrug*, we'll add it to the known issues list, like the bluetooth audio not working right. When there is a bug in a carrier supplied ROM, think of all the people that are going to want to call AT&T and be like 'Hey this isn't working, FIX IT!'. That costs money to pay the customer service people and it costs money from a PR point of view.
The carriers strive to make things as bug free as possible (which, is laughable considering some of the updates some carriers have pushed out, or even the state of a phone at release *cough*G2x*cough*). If they don't do super extensive testing on everything BEFORE the release, they're going to have to do the same testing AFTER the release, but after it costs them money in customer service and PR image.
It sucks that another manufacturer/carrier is delaying the update. Do we buy a phone on the promise/hope we will see the next update? I don't. "Why am I not getting update XX" seems to be a common complaint. I came from the Atrix 2. Motorola promissed ICS and an unlockable bootloader. The phone is now borderline if not already end of life with At&t and is just getting the ICS update and still a locked bootloader. I bought my GSIII with the thought "cool I will get JB" but didn't care when. With all of the leaks available, if you want JB, you can get it. Seeing some of the bugs in the leaks, do you really want that to be your update? If you got the update and had these bugs, thered posts of "how could they release this buggy version?" Don't get me wrong, I would like to see manufactures and carriers stand by their word, but I realize there are more important things to worry about than why my update is delayed or not getting it. If you want a phone that guarantees you'll see an update, get a ,cough cough, Iphone. Not all features may work but hey, you'll get your update. My one and a half cents and a THANKS to the hard working devs that bring us these leaks and roms (FOR FREE) to satisfy our need to update. YOU GUYS ROCK!

Its not the OS they are changing, it takes them this long to make their BS bloatware work.

this sucks but never a problem with custom roms and Samsung is the easiest to update.
I'm new to Android, so maybe that makes me naive. But, I'd like to bring up a few points:
1) How do you know JB for the AT&T GS3 is delayed until 2013? No one has given a release date. Heck, it might be 2014 or 2015. It's misleading to post a title like that.
2) "Coming months:" this ambiguity goes both ways. Sprint released their GS3 JB OTA update today.
3) AT&T is taking long to update their bloatware?! There are three stupid apps: AT&T Hotspots, AT&T Messages, and AT&T Navigator. AND AT&T's already released the Note 2, which comes with Jelly Bean. Thus, these apps have already been updated to work with Jelly Bean!
The holdup on AT&T's part is something else...
