Galaxy S3 Apps that are not preinstalled - Galaxy S III Themes and Apps

the Galaxy S3 does have a few apps that are not pre-installed, but available by choosing the "other services" icon in the app drawer. these apps go easily un-noticed, even though they are quite handy and a nice extra for us samsung users:
-KiesCast
Podcastmanager and downloader which lets you subscribe and listen/view audio & video podcasts
-Flipboard
Google Currents in polished e-Magizine reader for comsumption of personalized news you like and are interested in (even does fetch news from your twitter account)
-MyStory
let's you send digital poster cards to your friends (didn't try that one yet)
-S Baro
a barometer which shows you the current altitude of your phone
-MiniDiary
little diary tool which lets you take a picture, add a note on it, saves the date and geotag so after your vacation you have a neat litte album of photos and descriptions with photos... really nice
-Family Story
kind of a social network only for your family to share pics and stuff
-Photo Editor
lets you edit the photos you have taken.
give those apps a try... some of them are really nice

Would you be willing to upload those apps for non sg3 people?
Deebo took your bike too?!

What is S Baro btw? and where to get it from?
---------- Post added at 12:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:55 AM ----------
thanks. Got all the apps in Samsung Apps store

Guys can some one upload Photo Editor?

I don't have other services in my app drawer and couldn't find s-baro in samsung apps?

Likewise no Other services Icon.
Mini Diary and Fliboard both stock .
SAMSUNG APPS ICON is what is required to access these app downloads .
jje

I can find no s-baro in there, is the name correct? I tried just going through all the S's as there is not that many and did not find it.

S Baro
I also want to know what S Baro app is and where I can get it ... Please ;-)

I have the other services icon
and...
Baro is a barrometer. it seems that sgs3 has a digital barometer.this app gives you that reading, checks the weather forecast for where you are and gives you your altitude based on the forecast information. It's as harmless as it is useless. A barometer widget would have been better.
Kies cast looked really good on first inspection. as a long time google listen user I quite fancied the fresher ui. on a second inspection the ui is not as well organised, you have to long click and then press display to get to a particular podcasts info. in addition its got a samsung add banner flashing along the bottom. not good happy at all samsung.
not bothered looked at the others yet. anybody else care to pitch in?
---------- Post added at 07:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:41 PM ----------
and flipboard is great of course. seems lots faster than pulse and very intuitive interface

Download all Galaxy S3 apps pack here: http://droidviews.com/2012/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-system-dump-apps-tones-wallpapers-download/
You will also get the system dump and other goodies. If you want any single app, let me know.

I don't see the s-baro in any of those dl's. Anyone have a link to it?

An application / program monitor similar to the one found on the s2 has now appeared in the more services link

Also for those who can't find go in Samsung apps - categories - more services

Guys
All these apps under Samsung More Services Apps

I found them under More Services.
I use the barometer feature on my G-shock watch a bit as has a graph that shows recent pressure history. If it drops rapidly in a short period, like an hour or so, itr means rain is likely. That is useful to me.
Of course, if you move around a bit or are in a car it will not be accurate. It uses gps positioning as well to work out your height but I am not sure how well this will integrate, as small height differences or errors can greatly effect the result.
Nevertheless it looks good and I will keep an eye on it compared to the G-shock, which in relative terms is pretty good at predicting rain.

I dont have the music hub

Polaris Office anyone?
Has anyone found the full Polaris Office app yet?
The bundled Polaris Viewer app displays a message on start-up stating that the full-blown Polaris Office can be found in 'More Services' on Samsung phones.
I've got Kies Cast and all the other apps mentioned on this thread from More Services but no Polaris Office

Some Ideas for Google Now

Google is probably holding back with Google Now, not wanting to scare people away by releasing too many features too soon that show just how much it knows about us. Here are my ideas:
1. Send to Now – As you browse the web or read a book, you could highlight words or people’s names to Google Now so it loads up information about them for you to read through later.
2. Photos – when you take a photo of a landmark, Google Now could load a card with information about the landmark. I think Google Goggles already does this but now would be a better platform.
3. People – when you take or scan a photo of a person or their business card, Google Now could load up a card in the background with their LinkedIn or G+ profile.
4. Things – scan a barcode or object and Now loads up information (price, retailers etc) about it. Again, just like Goggles but better.
5. Rules – Google could let us write rules to trigger cards. For example, I could ask Now to pop up a card reminding me to take my groceries from the fridge in my office when I start my car (connect to my car’s Bluetooth) at work on a Friday evening. I already kind of do this with an app called Automate It by the way – it’s similar to Tasker.
6. Networking – Google Now could load profile cards of people nearby who have opted in to the networking feature.
7. Second Screen – Google Now when prompted could listen to what’s playing on your TV and offer more information about the programme. It could even offer links to purchase products advertised on TV or radio.
8. Related Articles – As you browse the web, Google Now could build up a list in the background of other articles related to those you have read and you could later review the list at your leisure - rating, reading and/or discarding the suggestions as you see fit.
9. Conversations - This one is a little scarier than the others and I’m not sure I would opt in to it myself, but Google Now could listen in on your phone and email conversations and provide related information – links to products you discussed or articles about concepts or news mentioned. As I say, I think I’d pass on this one.
10. Custom Cards – Google could let retailers or even websites build custom cards that are loaded when you check-in to their stores or visit their websites. These cards could include special offers and promotions, best-selling items etc. I imagine Google could even charge businesses for such a service if it were so inclined.
In all of this it would be important that they are opt in only – opt out wouldn’t be good enough. Also, Google Now should always remain non-intrusive but perhaps one should be allowed to set which cards should pop up as notifications, cause the phone to vibrate or simply load in the background. I might want a reminder to trigger a notification by the way but for others I may be happy to ignore or review at my convenience. By the way, I haven’t seen or used Google Now yet so if I’ve completely misunderstood how it works or could work, this is my excuse.
Oh and I apologise in advance if this is not the right forum – I couldn’t immediately find a better one and I see others have posted about Google Now here too, I guess since the G Nex is one of only two devices with it on at the moment.
What are your ideas for Google Now?

Isn't Calendar already integrated? I see reminders for my calendar entries in Now. Don't know about setting events via Now though, since it isn't completely functional in German / other languages than US english.
On topic, OP has some great ideas! Hope to see some of the less scary integrated
Really? I thought reminders were only within the alarm app... I will have to double check...

I see a reminder for this evening right now, it's definitely integrated
there was a interview with matias, and he confirmed that there is calendar feature, only reading from it.
there isn't any feature to create a calendar entry from NOW. but he emphasise that the API exist and all down to developers.
maybe hinting that its possible for 3rd party developer to write some custom card that can be installed?
I would love to be able to teach Google Now how to pronounce my name, placenames in my area etc. so that dictation works better.
Having said that, I find the accuracy of the dictation to be outstanding for most other things. I love GN!
There are so many possiblilities to this feature. I can't wait to see how it evolves over time. I actually use it quite a bit more than I thought I would. It makes a simple task so much easier, such as setting an alarm! Being able to set calendar appointments would be amazing though!

I think they're referring to that you can't use now to create a calendar event. If you want it to remind you of something, it can only set an alarm for you.
Music, it should tell you when an artist you like has a new single or album coming out, and if they are going to be playing a show withing X miles of your location. Or have just announced a tour etc.
Media, it should tell you when a new movie or video game is being released and give ratings for it and such.
I like idea number one, maybe adding in a dictionary for certain words, although that may be part of what your talking about.
That's one of the nice things I like about reading books on my Ipad. You can highlight a word in a book you're reading and, it will define the word.

Well for the concert notification, I stumbled upon an app called song kick. Which will scrap your Google music and pandora ( maybe something else too) and email you when an artist you liked or own content from is touring near you.

It should show a card every monday, wednesday, friday morning when I first unlock my device with the day's XKCD comic and the mousover text.
Keeping tabs on movie releasedates would be nice too. Google "The dark knight rises" and on the release day it shows up on a card with the theatre times for your cities movie theatres.
Connect with (Google) TV to give you a tvguide card when your watching tv.
Shows a card with directions to the nearest florists on your anniversary

Excellent idea. The more media related info the better imo.
One more feature I'd like to see is the ability to send a time or location based reminder to someone else. The person can then choose to accept the reminder or not. I suspect Apple will do this soon if they haven't already. The reminder could then appear in Google Now along with any notes the sender included.

Integrate with Tripit directly to send reminders of all the little tripit events you have, check-in, check-out, flights, etc.
I want there to be an actual notes app for which Google Now can create a note and save it.

Not better .. Keep is more Basic .. Evernote is a more mature app with Advanced features.
Keep has a prettier UI. Does the simpler jobs easily.
Also its integrated with Google Now .. or Google Voice commands. You can say "Note" or "Make a note" , "Note to self" and Google with take voice input and create a note for it.
sweet, thanks... i've been trying to follow this, but the drama behind it going from "coming soon" to "canceled" back to "coming soon" to, now released was getting annoying.

Nice and simple app. but missing an option to encrypt notes.
When I use google now voice option to "make a note" or "note", i am unable to pull them up in google keep app. Where does it save those notes?
FAQ on the speech-api in 'keep'... if you tap the mic icon and speak, it does realtime speech-to-text AND has a filesink for the Audio track. At the end of your session with speaking to the mike, there are 2 outputs ( mp3 file with the widget for playback/audio, the TextView w/ the text converted during your speech )...
that is a nice trick. Will that be in an intent or in the api? IMO the buffer that's filled by the mic is used to both send the FLAC stream to speech-recognizer-api and the buffer is encoded or saved for audio track that can be playback by the player widget.
Here is log on the event 'tap the mic icon to make new keep-note' ...
I/ActivityManager( 389): Displayed com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/com.google.android.voicesearch.intentapi.IntentApiActivity: +807ms
They should just make a Holo themed Apple Notes, stick it in AOSP and call it a day. Seriously I've wanted something as simple as that in the stock suite since Froyo O.O
I don't want to use it....loving it.....and next spring, Google cuts it loose like the Reader.
I like Google Keep, its nice and simple , clean etc, works great for me, but I have a little question, how do you color code the notes ?

Best Sony Smartwatch2 [SW2] Apps&Games

NOTE: This thread isn't updated by me anymore as I had to sell my SmartWatch 2. Check the latest replies to the thread for new apps, though. Keep 'em coming!
Good day fellow XDAians!
I recently bought my very own Smartwatch 2 and I had no idea where to start looking for applications. The built-in search function of Sony's Smartwatch2 app redirects to the Play Store with a certain search query but it not always shows all apps that belong to the category you've selected. So I decided to make a thread dedicated for only the best Apps&Games for the Sony Smartwatch 2!
If you know a great app or game, please let me know. I'll try to include most useful apps in this post. For each category, the free apps and games are listed before the paid ones. Let's get started.
First off, the application that is required for the SW2 to connect with your phone:
> SmartWatch 2 SW2 by Sony Mobile Communications
Secondly, with the new firmware where we can change wallpapers and create our own watchface, Sony decided to add an Easter Egg to the calculator. Have you ever wondered what 1035 equals?
> 1035 = Free Snake Game
(in case it wasn't clear yet, if you type "1035" in the calculator on your smartwatch and then press "=", you'll find the new game on your SmartWatch)
Notifications
> WatchIt! by Jonas Petersson
[free]
Will pick up notifications from the phone and display them in various ways.
> Watchify (Beta) SW2 Extension by A. Sagrebin
[free] [XDA thread]
Allows tons of notifications to pop up on your smartwatch, with Whatsapp, Email, Gmail and Hangouts currently supported to show 'extended notifications' so they'll show the entire message. It also allows setting options for these notifications such as not vibrating at night.
> Calendar smart extension by Sony Mobile Communications
[free]
Shows each upcoming calendar item with location and tapping an item shows more details.
> Quick Reply for SmartWatch 2 by IngeniousApps
[rooted] [€2,41] [XDA thread]
Lets you actually write replies to whatsapp messages as well as view incoming ones on the smartwatch.
> Tasker - Smart Notifier by Shouvik Basu
[free] [donate app at €1,21] [requires Tasker at €2,99]
Send notifications and choose actions accordingly on your SmartWatch via Tasker!
Control apps
> Tasker - Smart Extensions by Shouvik Basu
[free] [donate app at €1,21] [requires Tasker at €2,99]
Ever wanted to decide yourself what to control with your SmartWatch but don't have enough programming knowledge to make your own apps? With this Tasker extension you can!
> Media Control Extension by Lex
[free]
A beautiful app with large, comfortable buttons to control your smartphone's volume, play, pause, skip and for-/backward music; takes little time to load as opposed to Sony's media control application.
> Camera Smart Extension by Sony Mobile Communications
[free]
Turns your smartwatch into a remote smartphone camera trigger. Don't expect the live view to be smooth however.
Games
> 2048 for Smartwatch by Jonathan B.
[free]
Can't get enough of this game on your phone or in the browser? Why not have it on your smartwatch for free!
> BlackJack Extension by Tesseract Mobile
[free] [features ads on phone when replenishing bank money]
"When I'm getting a Smartwatch, I'll get one with BlackJack and Hoo... wait, let's just keep it at BlackJack."
Smartphone apps with added support for the Smartwatch 2
> Light Flow by Reactle
[€1,75] [lite version: free]
Has the option to push all sorts of device notifications to the Smartwatch, but not the extended ones. Therefore you won't get full messages, only short text (pretty handy still if you had already bought this app).
> SmartVanilla Music by Alexander Watt
[free]
Extension to control music through the application
Other
> RSS for Smart Extras™ by Sony Mobile Communications
[free]
Read your RSS feeds on your SmartWatch!
> Tiny Tasks by Lex
[€0,72]
Syncs with Google Tasks so that you can view and mark tasks as complete on your watch.
> Slideshow smart extension by Sony Mobile Communications
[free]
Makes it possible to view images from your phone on your wrist.
> Remote Widget for SmartWatch2 by NeFa Studio
[€1,13] [working ideas]
Put any SmartPhone widget on your SmartWatch!
Do you have anything to add? Please let me know by posting it including a link below!
This list is constantly updating, so keep an eye out!

That definitely looks like an interesting app!
Now I just wish I had a way to pay for it *come on Google, introduce me to your Play Gift cards here as well*
I will however included it in my list, as it seems original enough. Does it let users accurately reply whatsapp messages to incoming ones, and does it work in group chats as well? I just wish there was a way to have full whatsapp on your wrist, including all contacts and previous messages.
Does it actually show your message after replying in a 'conversation kind of way', including previous messages? If not, could that be an improvement to save previous messages as well?
Ha! Great thought..
It does accurately reply to whatsapp individuals and groups and sms as well..
I am working on full whatsapp conversations.. But even if I succeed in it.. I ll be a standalone app with no notifications stuff.. Because SW2 api limitations have binded me to cut short a few things...
Love your collection btw.. Keep it up! Cheers mate!

I just found a great widget for the Remote Widget SmartWatch extension.
Try putting Sony's TrackID widget on the watch. Clicking it will result in a music search even with the phone's display off!
It's a perfect example of what this app is capable of!
*More ideas may follow in this post*
If you have any other perfect examples, be sure to share them here so I can include them in the list
okay, in the light flow app, the notification is only showing amount of unread notifications, like in gmail, it shows 1 unread, total 1, instead of showing context

I haven't tried it yet. Does it work well?
The idea of my post is not to put random apps in there, but apps that are actually one of the better (the app has 3 one star ratings and 3 two star ones, which makes me wonder...).
It looks to work well though, when I read the description. I might update my post with this game :cyclops:
EDIT: on your snake game: I tried it and it was laggy. Laggy in a way that it wasn't playable to me. The "calculator easter egg snake" is much better so I won't put that snake game in the post.
No problem, haven't tried the sudoku or the blocks game yet.. Someone else might have though..

Hmm.. Forgot to mention a very interesting free app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sonyericsson.extras.liveware.extension.rss It displays RSS feeds on your watch. I've added RSS feeds from news sites and combined with the watchit app I get notified whenever there's a new news item..

Hi All.
After a few days of hard work and a few times of (i don't remember how many) reflashing stock rom, i have made a complete list of safely disabled (remove or freeze its up to you) bloatware on my Droid Razr m KK lates OTA update. (Obviously this was made possible with the help of HYDROGEN PER OXIDE thanks to HYDROGEN & SERG_GANGUBAS). I have not disabled Playstore related apps and services because they are needed obviously. But you can delete them just in case. Plus, by deleting all these apps, i cannot use PIN or PASSWORD lock. Pattern is working fine and i haven't found the culprit yet. Everything else is working fine. I had almost 500mb free RAM after doing this(no apps installed through playstore yet).
Did i miss something? Please mention. Needless to say you can keep the apps that you want to use. Hopefully i helped...
**EDIT**
Don't disable VPN Dialogs if you use a VPN app. The app will not work i.e. it won't connect to the servers.
More Apps added in first post.
One more thing i would like to share with you guys from my experience, just in case someone finds it useful.
If you guys are deleting bloat for more storage space, then its fine. But if storage is not an issue and you're doing it for battery saving only, then i think keeping all the bloat and installing donate version of Greenify and Greenifying everything is far better option than deleting the apps because deleting the bloat causes the phone to lag and sometimes FC's. When i deleted all the bloatware, for sure i was having more free ram but i didn't notice a substantial gain in battery life. Now my phone is back in original state and i have greenified everything and now my battery gives me 1 hour more of SCREEN ON time. I am not sure if it will be the same for everyone. Just my 2 cents...
My personal list for Debloater. Aggressive )
Don't quite remember if it is suitable for 4.1.2, but 4.4.2 RAZR M / Luge for sure.

True to the name lol.

What apps are you looking forward to on your Galaxy Watch?

I can not wait for a working Philips Hue app. I am checking the Gear store every few days. A few have been added since but there are either issues with it working on and off or the Widget not working. I need the widget!
Also, a Samsung Multiroom speaker update for Tizen 4! I searched this up before getting the Galaxy Watch and it looks like there is one for Tizen 3 but nothing for Tizen 4 yet.... Boo
What are you waiting for?
Yeah, it's frustrating to see so many apps available for WearOS that are not available on Tizen. I have the LTE enabled Galaxy Watch and would love to be able to leave my phone behind at home sometimes and still have access to the functionality of my favorite apps. Hoping these app developers start getting us some content on Tizen! Here's my wish list: Alert360, Amazon Music, Uber, Lyft, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Skype, Skype for Business, Google Maps.

I thought I knew what I was getting in to when I bought the watch but with many devs not updating their apps, the app list for the Galaxy watch is less than the already sparse Gear S3!
The Spotify app is pretty good so my local music needs are fulfilled but apps like Skype, SfB and Uber would be an excellent addition to the watch.
WhatsApp, I can do with the replying to notifcations. I don't need to look through previous convos.
Google Maps, I paid £1 for a companion app. Works really well for turn by turn navigation. It dosn't give you the birds eye view but it guides very very well and hasn't failed me yet. Start a journey on Google Maps (On your phone) and it will auto start the compantion app on the watch. Its called "Gear Navigation". Free app for watch but paid app app on Google Play.
Having Uber on my wrist.. Might make it too easy!
I think there is an Uber app for Tizen now
Having just transferred from gear s3 to Galaxy watch, ALL my apps (and they are a lot) that were bought for the gear (tizen3) now work for Galaxy watch (tizen4). There is a Phillips hue app in the store and an Uber app too also for Galaxy watch. You may need to change your country store to USA to see them all (there is a topic for this under the gear forum). The Uber app only though works only with a Samsung phone.
I would like to get a podcast app.
Spotify don't have podcasts on the watch app.. Why, just why?..
Audible would be another app, then I can leave my phone @ home.
I believe Tizen has a bigger market share than WearOS now, surely developers will notice?
I talked with customer service at Audible.
They have an app for the apple watch.
I sugested that they make an app for the Galaxy watch too.
They thanked me and forwarded the request.
If there are more Audible customers here, it will probably help if you did the same.
Chat with them here: https://www.audible.com/contactus?n1=something_else&n2=other
Is there any application that I can use for remotely turn on or off Wi-Fi, flash light, sound... On my Samsung device from my Galaxy watch? I think there was some application on Gear S3 but I cannot remember how it calls....

That's the one I looking for. Thanks ?
Personally, I just want an app that stores notification history so that I can access old messages. There is 1 old app called NWS that does this but it drains the watch battery like MAD (5% per hour just from this app).
I am getting so frustrated by the lack of this simple feature that I will either make the app myself or return the watch.

I can't seem to find how to change my store country to US. Can you give me a link or tell me how I can do it? There are two apps which I want from the US country store: Spotify and Twitter Trends.

Hi, please see below, this is one of the several threads on the subject, basically you need a vpn app on your phone to produce a US IP address and the Sim card removed:

Thanks. I've tried it as you said without the sim card and it worked flawlessly. All that's left now is to find more apps to download
A Good GPX tracker as Oruxmaps and a Wunderlist integration.
Ghostracer - ultimate tool for runners
Runtastic
Shazam would be nice to have
zello - walkie walkie app
