I preordered the 16gb Marble White from Best Buy. I'm hoping they have the 32gb in by the time it launches. I got the $50 off deal from them along with some giftcards. That's why I'm not buying from Sprint.

the great thing is that if u pre order, chances are it will arrive before June 21!

I haven't pre-ordered, but otherwise I'm in the same boat as you are! I've had the EVO 4g, EVO 3d, and nothing else. I loved HTC, but I thought that I should try out the Galaxy s3.

Is anyone else distressed that Sprint is getting the dual core version instead of the quad? I'm just asking...

Idk what to order 16 or 32. It would be 32 for sure if there was no SD but since there is idk if I wanna waste a extra 50 for 16 gb so hmm what should I do??

All the US carriers are getting the Dual Core, and as far as I've read, they're pretty much on par with each other. Check out some of the threads on the forum, people seem to generally agree (Or, as much as one can agree on the internet) that the differences are minimal.
/shrug
Also, Preordered my 32GB Pebble Blue to replace my Evo 3D that wasn't all I expected it to be.

Depends on how much 50$ is worth to you.
If you're a poor college kid, go with the 16. If 50$ is "Meh" pocket cash, then go with the 32. Lol... That's how I decided. "How badly will I miss that extra 50$?"
The answer? Not much. Lol

Money isn't a problem I'm just wondering if 32 is overkill when u can have up to 32 SD slot wise.

I went with the Marble White 16gb. After reading issues with poor memory management and now issues with the phone bending a bit, I cancelled my wirefly EVO LTE for this. I guess the delay worked out. I love HTC devices but I get a little tired of constantly flashing ROMs to have sense work right.

Anxiously awaiting my 32GB Pebble Blue that I pre-ordered yesterday. Was a bit disappointed that Sprint didn't have any decent case options available yet. I'm sure I'll be able to pick something up by the time I receive it. Can't wait to root and throw an aftermarket ROM on it and see what it can really do!

I'm thinking about getting the SIII. However, I don't really know how the development is with samsungs. I came from the EVO, the photon and now have the nexus. Does anyone know of any developers that will be getting this phone?

I was also about to get the evo lte but this caught my attention, mainly the ability to wake the phone with a physical home button. I plan to root and flash with vanilla ICS.
My only concern is will the 2GB of RAM eat the battery compared to evo's 1GB and the overseas siii quad-core 1GB model.
Thanks

I just pre ordered my 16GB SIII white a few minutes ago. I just have one question: Is it possible that Sprint will deliver the phone 2 days early? I'm leaving for college orientation the night of the 19th, and will be gone until late on the 22nd, and I would like to have my SIII when I'm down in Austin. So is it possible that it will be delivered on the 19th?

i am enjoying it. This is my first expierence of android on something that is not a phone. I was caught between this tab and the iconia a100 and so far this thing is great comes stock 4.0.3 standard 1 gig of ddr3 ram 1 ghtz dual core pretty nice did not like the stock launcher apex looks nice on this tab once you increase the grid size to a 8x8. Runs smooth everything you would expect from a sammy device. I posted this to show my piece of early software i got ahold of. If your thinking of getting this gadget the abc warehouse is sellimg them early for some reason i think they oops'd though

The 22nd was a requested release date, never a hard and fast one. Best Buy has them and is displaying them as well. Word is that as soon as they come in they are being displayed by request of Best Buy corp. Good that you got one though. Very cool device from what I can see. The 7 inch was displayed but they didn't have the 10 inch one in yet and that is the one I want.

Galaxy Tab 2 P3113
Sagged mine on 4/9 and delivered on 4/12 from hhgregg for $240 including tax and shipping. Now see they won't have till the 22nd at he $249 plus tax regular price. Have the P6210 plus also, grabbed it onsale months ago for $299 total. P6210 is better but P3113 is very good. Know if we had root for root apps.
Bought mine on release day 4/22 at BestBuy.
Didn't actually know that was the release day. Was in need of a cheap tablet, was going to get Nook or Kindle Fire but for $50 more without the hassle of needing to mess with firmware for Google App support it was worth it.
Waiting for root. Any idea when XDA will make a forum for Galaxy Tab 2? (Prob same for 10.1 and 7.0 maybe?). Only reason I need root is to install the Cyanogenmod CM9 ported DeskClock and also have automatic time sync since I use this as a alarm clock and like precision.
One odd thing I noticed though. There's no "Stock" Clock app. (Called DeskClock on most devices). Alarm Clock+ and a few others mimic it and my Archos Home Connect 35 has it. What's funny is i tried to install the cyanogenmod CM9 custom build of it, and the package already exists on my Tab 2 7.0. But there's no application shortcut for it, and com.android.deskclock doesn't show up in the application listing.
Any idea's how I can access the clock or get the stock clock working? (I Know theres alternatives but it annoys me that there is so "Stock" Deskclock app.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I agree with this. The only problem the nexus wasn't easy to get in the us. Once it is its up to the consumer. To choose hardwear or soft wear
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
While your slide is commendable it isn't entirely true. The only variants of the GN to be updated are the yakju and takju. There are many more variants running 4.0.4 and in the case of Canada's yakjuux variant 4.0.2 and lower. Until there are images or Ota available to upgrade those regional versions my opinion is that the nexus devices themselves are fragmented. I'm not even mentioning the toro models whom are still waiting. At least we have the option though to upgrade to jb easily on our own.
Apple obviously sees android as competition, Google dosent. Showing up another competitor at you'd conference? Nice advertisement apple. #obviouslyscared
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
The whole argument about fragmentation revolves around updates. However, if you get a low end Android, the chances are that you don't care about having the latest version of Android. That's one of the key selling points of Android - there's a low end option for those with less desire to keep up with the Jones'.
If you get a high end phone, then it's a completely different story. i(couldcareless)OS typically gets one update a year. I believe the Galaxy Nexus had seen several updates already.
Some may claim that they are just bug fixes, but every update I've seen has had value added changes also...
When you add to that the fact that a number of iOS updates have actually slowed down older versions of the fruit phone, I can't help but think they have a weak argument...
Apple has the same weakness as other manufacturers in that their main source of profits come from people buying new devices. This gives them a strong incentive to withhold features from older devices. We are already seeing this in action in the iPhone 4 which did not get Siri and is not getting turn-by-turn navigation. The original iPad was discontinued in March of 2011. The last update it got was October of 2011. So some owners of the iPad got as little as 7 months of support.
Google, otoh, makes money from online advertising, so they don't care if you buy a new phone or not, as long as you are online. Unlike iPhone 4 owners, Nexus S owners got the full Jelly Bean upgrade.
Apple fans love to throw the "f" word around and brag about their precious iDevice. They don't realize they are living in a glass house.
This is beyond stupid. Fragmentation effects Nexus devices too... look no further than the embarrassingly slow adoption of Holo by apps in the market.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
No one it's perfect....just look at windows phone, some guys bought a overpriced nokia lumia with 2010 hardware and they will be stuck on windows phone 7.x .
Most android devices are still with gingerbread because they cant run ics with low level hardware, some because the manufacter sucks....not google, they always deliver speedy updates.
Sent from my Transformer TF101G using xda premium
Of course Apple can have the majority of their devices on the latest OS - strip out the significant new features that you don't want older devices to have and push out the update to those devices. Pickup an iPhone 4s running iOS 5 and you'll have certain features and functionality. Pickup an iPhone 4 running "the same" OS, and you'll have less features and functionality. Pickup an iPhone... THAT'S FRAGMENTATION.

Tell any app developer that fragmentation is a choice, and they are likely to stomp your face into a mud puddle.
Wow, even Apple's pie graphs have a metallic texture to them..
I personally think OP is right. If you don't like fragmentation cm go with Nexus. Even the old Nexus S got the update... of course, you won't get the best of both hardware and software, but let's be honest, Apple hardware is ****ing lousy too... I mean come on! 800mhz processor? Small 3.5 inch screen? It's pathetic compared to galaxy nexus. Yes, the new iPhone probably will be better than galaxy nexus, but Google will probably come up with something much better later on!

+1 I wanted Sony or HTC to make it, but now I'm leaning towards Motorola. They have the best package all around, especially with Google picking everything. Which hopefully means no pen tile, definitely no locked boot loader, bigger battery, best radio, and nice beautiful design and durability.

Help making a decision.

So after 6 years of being on my mother's cell plan I'm getting the boot. I have a decision to make now. In 3 weeks or so I'll be moving to Verizon and I'm having a problem making a decision on what phone to get. I'd like to get some pov from the community.
1. I could get the S3 but I don't see a big difference from my t989. It's just my opinion. I'm not to impressed with the S3. To me it just seems like an extra gig of RAM and that's it.
2. I could get a Galaxy nexus and save some money. Save some money till something more impressive than the S3 comes out.
What do you guys think? If I'm wrong I'd love to be told.

When talking on the phone (Note), use a small bluetooth.
And when you do something else on it, yes it will draw
a lot of attention...just remember...they are ALL JEALOUS of you!!!
So, it will be a "good" attention!
:good:
Try considering a prepaid plan w/ the use of google voice and VOIP program. I've heard it saves quite a bit of money.
And if you do end up going to Verizon, buy a Note2 and sell it. It'll probably sell pretty darn high if it's unopened.

Some of the leaked specs for it include a 1.5 GHz Quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU, 2 GB RAM, a 4.7 HD display, 8 mpix camera, etc. The best part is that the 8 GB model will retail for 299$ and the 16 GB will retail for 349$.

http://sprint.com/holiday anyone wanting to upgrade to the sgs3 sprint is offering the unlimited edition for $50 on Thursday and Friday only  firgued I'd share this link for anyone looking for a deal and not wanting to go hangout in a mob on black friday

Yes upgrades and new lines/contracts only. Won't work for off contract but if ur eligible for your upgrade u can use this, sale starts after midnight weds thru midnight Fri online, in stores Fri, stores are opening early the ones near me are opening at 4am
Edit: the note 2 is supposed to be on sale as well for black Friday but no word on price, however it won't be any less than $150 as the biggest drop sprint corporate does is $150 off and the note 2 is $300 on contract. More than likely it will probably only be $50-$100 off making it $200-$250 on sale. I'm waiting for the after Xmas sales for the note 2 cuz it will have been out 2 months and probably go down to around $150. My dad bought himself a note 2 and gave me his 2month old sgs3 so I can stand to wait another month or 2 til the price comes down on the note

Except you're missing a gb of ram, 14gb of app storage the 0lag camera shutter, nfc, a much faster processor, bigger battery, HD screen, etc. I didn't think it would be a big difference either til I had one in my hand now the et4g feels slow especially when trying to take pics of my kids, the camera feels so sluggish waiting for the sshutter to reset between pics. I've actually force closed the camera trying to snap pics like it was my sgs3 wife is happy with the et4g tho, I liked it alot but the sgs3 is like someone gave the et4g steroids, and the note 2 is like someone gave the sgs3 steroids.

Yes note 2 has a 3100mah battery vs 2100 in the s3, quad core s4 pro vs dual core s4pro, bigger screen, s-pen a few other things. The battery is the biggest difference, getting almost double the battery life of the s3 when both are stock

Don't get me wrong, I know it's a better and newer phone, but my upgrade isn't until late next year and I just came from the LG Optimus, so I'm in heaven with this phone. By the time I get my upgrade, the S3 will be old news.
Gotta love the cell phone industry!

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the "unlimited" edition of the s3?

I know things are old before they come out! I wouldn't have the s3 if my dad hadn't bought a note 2 and gave me his s3. I was saving my upgrade for the note 2, which ill be getting around Xmas. Looking at the s3 vs s2 on paper it doesn't seem like a big change but once u get it in ur hands and compare side by side u see and feel a huge difference. I think my favorite thing is the camera, between snapping stills while recording HD video and being able to take stills as fast as u can tap the button especially having kids is great

Yes note 2 has a 3100mah battery vs 2100 in the s3, quad core s4 pro vs dual core s4pro, bigger screen, s-pen a few other things. The battery is the biggest difference, getting almost double the battery life of the s3 when both are stock

Don't the Note 2 have Samsung's own Exynos 4412 processor? The S3 and Evo LTE have the Qualcomm S4 Krait processor I thought.. Was I wrong this whole time?

No ur right the note 2 does have the quad exynos, I'm thinking of the quad s4 in the optimus g and nexus 4, my bad. The krait however is in the pro family just the dual.core name I cant remember the name on the s4 pro quad basically s4 pro would be like amd 64 and krait would be like the model number just a different model of the same family. Idk y I thought the note had the s4 in it too, my dad has the optimus g on his work line so probably cuz I was looking at it's box and not the notes :banghead:
The bigger trade off is the gpus the exynos in the note got the Mali gpu and the s4s got the crappy adreno.

The camera on the JB leak FK09 has no lag and is instant. You'll be pretty amazed! I know I was.. And who really needs 14gb of app storage? I'm good with the 2gb on my et4g if it ever becomes full I always have the option to move to sd. Ps does the gs3 really have that much for apps or are you referring to the internal 16gb memory? (Which the GS2 also has). I'm having a hard time processing that. Usually the internal memory is that high but that's separate from your actual app storage.

The internal 16gb is all one /data partition /sdcard for USB storage is just a folder on the /data partition u can store anything on or from apps pics videos music etc. This time around they didn't split the internal into 2 partitions like on the s2. The 32gb version is the same way. One of the complaints Samsung got on the s2 was the 2gb /data 14gb /storage partition scheme so this time they went with one 16 or 32gb /data partition instead of breaking it into one larger chunk for storage and a smaller apps only partition
Edit: and the camera difference I'm talking about is due to the hardware sensor not the software, I've tried both side by side, the camera on the s2 freezes the force closes if I try to take pics as fast as I can on the s3. U can just rapidly tap the shutter button on the s3 and basically take burst mode pics it'll grab 30 or 40 pics in a few seconds if I try it on my s2 the camera will freeze or lag real bad then force close and about half of the pics that it managed to take show up all black

Aaah ok that makes sense! I haven't even maxed out my 2gb and I have lots of apps. Back to the camera thing I get what you're saying and the GS2 will never be as good as the GS3 camera wise. But I can def see a big difference in this new Camera 1.5 Jellybean is using. Definitely snappier!

Yea its alot snappier on fk09 than on ics, the speed on the s3 probably wouldn't be a huge thing unless you're like me an trying to get pics of running kids, my s3 grabs a bunch of nice ones while the et4g even on fk09 would either be blurry on some or it just would fail to take cuz of auto focus lagging. Here's a cpl screen shots of the s3 storage, notice how it has no apps on SD column now and the available space left is 11gb

[Q] Thinking of switching to IPHONE 5s

Well im eligble for upgrade
i was an android fan boy telling everyone android is better my phone can do everything and more
BUT now you know EVERYONE has iphones in my school and around me so idont know why but i feel like getting the 5s its FASTER than ANY phone out right now benchmarks prove it. ONLY thing thats not making me buy now is that 4 inch :/. But i really love the aluminum and build quality. Yes i know droid razr and htc one are built to last also.
SOMEONE CONVINCE ME NOT TO GO
You need reasons to stay with Android? Here you are.
Maybe wait for N5 and then decide.

Yea but this gnexus SLOWED down on me ALOT and it cant even last me halfaday
Yes im rooted yes i flashed a custom rom
So idk if i can wait for the 6. the only reason i would wait for 6 is for a BIGGER SCREEN i cant go back to 4 inches i swear if the iphone was 5 inches and running android it would be the perfect handset
CONVINCE ME TO CONVINCE YOU
If you want an iPhone go get one. There is no reason why anyone here would care. I don't mean this as a personal attack against you. I am just saying, there are many users who like to try different things. We are all fans of technology. Windows Phone, iOS, and some others have some decent offerings that may be preferable over Android to certain people. Android most certainly isn't for everyone, just as iPhones aren't for everyone. I definitely wouldn't just get something because "everyone" else has one though. I would try to make sure it is the right device for me before making that decision.
I personally couldn't envision myself leaving Android, at least as far as phones go anytime soon. I am too tied up into the Google apps, market and accessories (I have probably 20 USB cables). Also size most certainly matters to me when it comes to a phone. But on the tablet side, I have thought about an iPad or iPad Mini more than once.
If you like it, go for it. I used to think iphones looked good too, but they've had the same look for too long, now they look too old and boring to me. But at least the new iPhone can do call blocking finally and it does have more cellular bands than the GNex or Nexus 4, so if you check to make sure you won't lose a feature you're used to, and don't mind paying double than what the N5 will probably cost, or you can't get out of contracts anyway so you have to pay the same anyway - go for it. I bought an iPad because everyone claimed it was so magical. Guess what? It wasn't. It isn't a bad device though, just not anything better and in many ways it is more limited. But for the average person that doesn't matter, they will never find any limitations because they have no need nor desire to use anything beyond the basics. If you are one of these average people, you will be just as happy with an iPhone. So if you want one, go for it.

iPhone 5S still only has 1gb ram with its 64bit A7 dualcore chip an same stupid tall narrow screen which makes everything look un proportioned in portrait or landscape.
The iphone is only fast on benchmarks because the software iOS 7 is less demanding than android .

You need a new school if you feel left out due to "everyone else having an iPhone". While I'm not in school, out of people I know or work with maybe 1 in 10 have iPhones, the vast majority have android devices with a few old fashioned phones and a few windows phones thrown into the mix.

Now I see why you feel left out, b/c of your slow phone?
Because apple will hand over the finger print data to whichever agency asks them for it

I understand this frustration of feeling left out though. I am about to be a doctor and all of my fellow students and other docs mostly have iPhone. Reason is the medical apps always come out on iPhone first and some have never come to android. It is very frustrating to say the least. I love android, but I hate knowing that iPhone folks 1-up me on a lot of stuff In my field. It would be a sucky reason to have to leave android, but a reason that haunts me nonetheless.
