Unique accesory for cooling down your phone or yourself - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I noticed the other day when I was playing n64oid and fpse with sixaxis contoller app using MHL to HD adpater. Since the phone is charging and displaying on the tv as well as running 2 apps it gets pretty hot.
So I started looking for a portable fan that i could set behind my phone why using the kickstand on the case to blow some cool air on it. As well as keep me cool
I finally found the smallest fan ever and has really good reviews.
(click picture for where to buy)
I will update this with how it works when I get it...if it doesn't work that well then I will still use it as a portable fan.
Yes I know you can underclock but you don't want to when you are playing emulators that need lots of power!!!
Yes you can kill apps but never liked doing that....
Just thought I share in case someone had the same thought I did.

I don't think a tiny little fan could really cool down your phone too much, nor keep you cool.

Plus if it doesn't work i will just return it and get my money back

Haha, people will make anything to make a buck or two. If my phone begins to get a bit toasty, I usually just take it out of the case and lay it on a cool surface for a bit. That seems to do the trick and it's free, lol.

i was thinking of setting the fan sideway maybe a little tape on the table right behind it.. Ill will figure it out. I was originally thinking of ripping out the fan and motor and making a custom casing for it and attach it to the case somehow, but will look into it..

Yeah... Seems like a kids toy.

ya for sure it supposed to be a pretty powerful fan in a small package and many people liked it. I feel like it just might be enough fan speed to cool down my nexus i mean its not like i am trying to cool down a pc

I found a flat heatsink that could possibly be made into a back cover, but we would ideally still need some way to solidly connect it to the hot parts of the SoC. It would involve breaching the plastic "firewall" of the housing, and replacing it with a short section of copper plate (i.e. a penny). Using a little thermal compound would make it even more effective at removing heat.
Can you picture this with a cutout for the camera pod?
On the liquid cooling front, I found some USB powered water pumps and cooling block.... If your Gnex is getting this hot, you might have a problem.
Hold the phone! This is much closer to the size we need. Peltier coolers work on thermocouple effect. It might use a little power, but will actually reduce temperature on one side, by a few degrees!

You could buy a mini fridge, then drill a hole in the front for wires:silly:
You can then also have cold drinks whilst playing your n64 games

Hello everyone! I've been working on a phone accessory that you guys might be interested in. I've always loved playing games on my smartphones, but on screen controls were always frustrating. When I discovered the Sixaxis App, I had to figure out a good way to attach my phone to the controller. I came up with the GameKlip™, it has breathed new life into my E4GT!
I am a university student, and long time xda member. I've been tinkering with this project in my spare time and they're finally ready to be sold. Let me know what you think!

Interested, but same question about fitting in a case

AWESOME!
One question/
Looks like the triangle button is blocked, is this the case?
Lots of case talk going on.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2
This is pretty awesome. I don't have a PS controller though - any ideas on where to get one for a good price? Also, when will you start producing / shipping these?
Looks really cool, but like every one else is asking, I need to know if it will work with a case (TPU to be exact).
Also, you should Kickstarter this!
I have designed them to fit an uncased phone, but it may very tightly with a super thin case. The one I molded to the naked E4GT "fits" with the incipio feather case in it as well. If you're really attached to a case, measure the dimensions and choose the "custom" option at checkout. I would recommend playing uncased though. It's very secure. I've had no issues playing with mine!
The triangle button is fully functional, but on the larger phones like the S3 I moved everything up a little to make some more room. I also made the tabs a little longer to accommodate for the curve at the bottom of the S3.
The best place to buy a ps3 controller is probably in store somewhere. I bought via an amazon seller, for only a few bucks off, and got burned. Check out my counterfeit comparison http://imgur.com/a/ZNZkj . Scary stuff!
Edit: oops, I forgot to say I put two-three weeks till ship on my site to be safe, but I'm hoping I can get them out sooner! I'm waiting on my plastic fabricator at the moment.

Maybe in the future you can make a case for the phone with two holes or sockets the click into the mount. And that can solve the case problem and perhaps increase sales.

Dude, post this on reddit.

They would love this sort of thing. Guys have been hand making their own mounts out of random crap for the past few weeks.
Taking the case off is a huge annoyance for us that have 2-3 piece cases such as the trident aegis. How much more are the customs and how much longer would they take to be made?
And an alternative I've seen to kickstarter is quirky.com not exactly sure how they work though.

I'm not charging anything more for the customs right now, and it won't take any longer than the others. I'm not sure if I'll be able to offer a custom dimension option in the future though, I was hoping to establish a better list of devices by offering customs during the pre-order stage. just make sure you measure as accurately as you can. If the dimensions are too big for my mold, I'll happily refund you
hmm i like the idea of this. I dont have a ps3 controller right now but would love to be able to play emulators on my android with a controller and could use the ps3 controller to control my media center computer as well.. might have to buy one of these in the future.

The size of this device

Are you guys comfortable with it? I keep seeing posts not only in this forum of it cramping peoples hands etc etc.....
I'm not finding it that hard to hold, one handed operation can be challenging once in a while especially when reaching for that top left portion of the screen but no biggy.
How many people are finding it uncomfortable to hold this device. I'd also like to suggest..

lol.
It took me a couple days to get use to.
The right case makes a big difference on how it feels in hand.
I wont be going back to smaller size device that's f,sure.
To hold it in one hand, I support it with my pinky from the bottom so I can reach the bottom of the phone to type. It mostly gives cramps to my hand but not a big deal. I had the same issue with my sgs2.
But 2 handed operation is excellent.
Actually I got used to this phone's size so fast that I started to feel the screen is still small. so I grabbed my sgs2 and played it a while. I felt amazed again to hold my note2
This is why I'm trying to avoid the candyshell hard cases or forget the otter box. I want something as slim as the device and still offer decent protection. I'm hoping the seidio surface does the job and hardly adds size. I ordered one last night.

S3 in the shower

What do you guys think the best way I could listen to music in the shower? Ive ran into the problem where if the phone is outside of the shower, the internal speaker isn't loud enough.
So I was thinking I could bring the phone in the shower with a waterproof bag - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846 and use the internal speaker (would that muffle the music too much?)
Or a small speaker - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1389517282&pf_rd_i=507846
Thanks for the opinions
Altec Lansing iM227←←←← that is what I bought for the exact same reason you are looking for lol. I connect the aux cable when I get in the shower and im good to go. .th sound isnlouad and it is very clear and crisp. Very good little speaker and it fits in your hand so it is small.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
My suggestion would be to just get a Seidio OBEX Waterproof case, you can use it in multiple situations including in the shower for music. Check out the video below.
I like that case, but I wouldn't use it outside the shower so I feel the price is a bit steep. That's why I am liking the waterproof pouch, I just think the sound would be muffled by it.

That's *if* the GS3 version doesn't have the problems that the iPhone5 version has had. From experience, the iPhone 4 Lifeproof is pretty incredible. But I've read tons of negative reviews on the 5 version. I'm just hoping the GS3 one is solid.

Steam, and also a curtain is the only thing blocking water. I'm in a dorm and our shower is 10 showers in small stalls
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/GOAL+ZE...&ci_src=5784816&ci_sku=3346115&ref=25&loc=PGR
im sure similiar items can be had for cheaper. i know the dorms thats why im not seeing the issue. generally theres a bench outside the stall too? just set it down. the phoen could go in a ziplock if youre that worried.

Just a thought...
When I was in college using a shared dorm bathroom, I usually wanted to shower as quickly as possible and get back to my room. Sounds like ANY "solution" would just slow you down.
Even if you don't mind lingering... what makes you think 9 other people (+ possibly more using the sinks and toilets) want to also listen to your music? Shower time and sitting on the toilet were one of the few opportunities to get away from others while living in cramped quarters. Seems like you could potentially bother your dorm mates.
If you had your own private bathroom, that would be a different story. Either way, maybe it's something to keep in mind while you live in shared space.

I personally just use large audio system that is louder than any showers. By I live in my own house, so no one to complain about the noise.
Pick up a cheap used Moto Defy and stream to it via Wifi?
I never used mine IN the shower, but it never had a problem with me reaching out a wet hand to skip something on Slacker. Volume was still an issue though, so I installed a cheap under cabinet stereo next to the shower. Works great.
I use one of them little expandable speakers& it's very loud considering it's size. More than loud enuff for the shower.

Car Phone Holder (Navigation, Ease of Access)

Hello everyone, I guess I'm just here to show you guys a little accessory I made for my One. I welded it out of random scrap metal and bent a bracket back in between the dash and clock accessory to hold it in place. It's very stable, and good for using with Navigation, or for changing the music on my Bluetooth stereo.

You need to go to home depot and pick up a can of plasti-dip to coat your holder.
No way would I place my device in that bare. If its in a case that would be fine, but the bare metal sticking out of your dash is abit of an eyesore.
I like it as a diy, but coat it in plasti-dip and it would go from unsightly to being near perfect.

Always found it funny when people rave and make a big deal about how a phone looks or how thin it is then throw it into an otterbox or something.

Is this the only version you're making? I was thinking next time you could use a pneumatic press and take a single piece of steel and fold it so you don't have so many harsh edges. Or heat a single piece of steel and make like a blacksmith and bend that beast with a sledgehammer and willpower.
alternatively if you absolutely must weld it, weld the sides on the backside of the backplate rather than the front. Just curious why you took the time to weld it but disregarded the 20 seconds it would've taken to smooth it with a hand-held grinder?
Also, why not legos?
I also had the idea to build this with lego . (my old phone, but also works with my HTC One)

Premium Tablet "Bags"

Hey guys..
Been looking around for a while now, and I'm trying to see if I can find anything like a "messenger bag" but for tablets or specifically for the Nexus 7. Here's one example i found:
http://www.sfbags.com/products/muzetto-outback/muzetto-outback.php
But I'm not quite sure I like the design of that one much. Does anyone know of any other bags like this for carrying around my Nexus 7 and other things?

I had been considering a bag just for my N7 but i also carry a 13.3 zenbook around sometimes so having a separate bag might be overkill. I see here that you were looking at a vertical bag in the 10 inch size for ipads. I have an STM Scout 2 that i used with my Asus TF101+keyboard dock that i'm quite fond of. It seems STM has a newer bag with more pockets:
STM Linear Bag
Maybe that might be a more fitting design. I find that around these sizes is the smallest you can get without looking a bit silly.
If you want to spend an outrageous amount of money on messenger bags, oberondesign.com has some .
go check out a womens purse store. no lie.

Maxpedition makes some bombproof gear, if it can stand up to regular use in bush Alaska, it can handle anything.

found the Kato when looking for their 7" ipad mini sleeve:

That hazard 4 tanto bag seems perfect!

That Hazard 4 Launchpad Mini bag looks pretty nice...And it's got a great price too. Definitely will consider it.

Your Noatak seems overloaded, lol.
For real, a bag made to fit a 7" tablet would just look like a purse. Why not just throw it into whatever bag you're currently using? Or... any bag. This thread is silly.

Sometimes it's more convenient to have something you want than have. It's like putting a iPhone in a pouch made for a note 2. It fits but not the way you want.

Think of it as you will...But I do not currently have any "bags" to place my Tablet in. I've never owned a tablet before, nor do I use any laptops. I have my Desktop and my smartphone...And my smartphone usually just goes into my pocket..And while the N7 does fit into most of my pockets, it isn't exactly ideal.
So if anything's silly...It's that you think this thread is silly.

I don't want a bag for my n7 but well said. To those that do want one I totally can understand why cause some of the bags look sick.

It was, stuffed with a Patagonia Nano Puff pullover, a flask of Blanton's bourbon, a Samsung Infuse, a DT Windstopper balaclava, and some snacks, in addition to what it normally carries.
Usually it just carries my lunch and the emergency field gear.
Looking into a Plan B from Hazard 4:
Swissgear Vertical Travel Bag
I use the SwissGear Vertical Travel Bag. I don't know if Target still carries them or not, but this is a great bag. You will want a case on your N7 as it does not have much padding. I can just fit my Asus Tf300T with a case and my N7 in this bag with several accessories. I bought it a few years ago, so it may be hard to find.
