Matte screen protector? - Galaxy S III Accessories

I've been using matte/no-glare screen protectors for years, and really like them. They really cut the glare outside (duh) and the rougher texture on the surface makes it easier to do things like Swype. Anybody bought/installed one for the SGS3 yet? I bought the one for my captivate a year ago and don't remember the brand - just curious to see what people are using and how they work.
Thanks!

I've been looking for a good matte screen protector too. Right now I have Halo on my phone: http://amzn.com/B00887FJWG Installation was easy with no bubble. It fits perfectly on the screen. My only complain is pixelation. I never had anti-glare screen protectors before so I don't know if this much pixelation/noise (especially more noticeable on white backgrounds) is normal or no. I am waiting for MediaDevil to be released for Galaxy S III. They got awesome reviews for iphone ones.
I also bought KaysCase but didn't install it because the cut was not perfect and it was too small and not symmetric so I returned it immediately.

i have the moshi iVisor AG, att store sold it to me, not sure how i feel about it yet... it has a ugly (in my opinion) blue trim that covers the blue brushed metal look and has 2 ugly holes where the back and menu buttons are supposed to disappear kind of defeating the whole purpose of making them disappear. On the good side, It does feel like quality film it has "no bubble technology", which pretty much means that there is one big air bubble inside (only the blue edges are sticky) and it can be washed and reused many times. Its not yet listed on moshi's website he is the only link i could find of it: http://www.puremobile.com/moshi-99mo045951-ivisor-galaxy-s3-blue

The moshi is good for install and clarity...

Cheap MATTE screen protector

Any good recommendation?
I still prefer the smudgeless MATTE finish with the smooth frictionless sensation over my screen.
I haven't looked much, but when I was into anti glare/smudge, I couldn't find any specifically cut for our phones. Could be mistaken now. However, I did find that Speck makes matte protectors for 4.3 inch gps units. Yes, our screens are 4 inches, but the extra space around the edges of our displays allows the Speck ones to fit. They were high quality from what I could tell, but I just got sick of the grainy look that comes as a result of all matte protectors.
If the smooth sensation is all that matters to you, get the 3 pack made for the captivate at your local at&t store. Alternately, search for the brand Real Look, as they make the at&t ones. These stay super slick, so swype works like butter much like with a matte screen, and you don't get the grainy display like matte finish. Fingerprints are also easy to remove with any soft cloth.

Realook makes one that is supposedly matte (or anti-glare, rather), though I haven't seen one in person to know if the quality is any good. I've seen a few on eBay that claim to be matte, but they also brand them as "privacy" protectors, so I'm a little hesitant since viewing angle is kinda important to me on a phone.
Awesome Anti-Glare Screen protectors
i bought these recently
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170631580706
i understand that's for an inspire, but i believe the seller has many different phones available.
they had a pretty good fit (definitely the right size, but a tiny gap between the protector and the edge of the glass in the corners....TINY)
they have a great feel, are very slightly "frosted" so they do soften the screen a bit, but after a day i didnt even notice.
they are AWESOME. I got 3 for $5, took my time cleaning and installing and i have ZERO bubbles or dust, they got here fast (US seller, not hong kong)
and they REPEL FINGERPRINTS AND REDUCE GLARE!!! yay!
coming from a g1, i was very annoyed with how dirty my screen got using the swype keyboard. this is an answer to my prayers.
My son uses these on his Captivate.
They fit really well and are really smudge proof.

I prefer my screen naked though. Any screen protector diminishes the awesome look of the SAMOLED display.

Trying to find a particular screen cover.

My protector had a slight 'scratch' on it, and in my annoyance, I went to replace it with one of the two remaining in my VZW/HTC pack (luckily not on the real screen though.) Crap managed to slip between the screen & protector on number 2, and number 3 had residue on the screen side, even though the dual-cover was still on it correctly.
I dropped by VZW to buy more, but instead of getting whichever version I had before, the rep gave me some anti-glare ones in the same packaging. I hate them. Every pixel looks like it's shining through frosted glass, and it's ruining my movie/tv experience.
Catch is, I never wrote down the type of protector I had before (it was glossy and easily reflected light,) but didn't degrade the image while using the display. Does somebody know the type offhand?
Or, even better, can anyone recommend a better protector if one exists? $16 for 3 tiny sheets of clear plastic seems like highway robbery.
I've always used the cheap generic ones on eBay that come from Hong Kong after having a surprisingly good one on my PSP.
Though you run the slight chance of running into a seller that has the low quality screen protectors (I've had a coworker that received some that had light scratches immediately, as you're running your fingers across it), it's still a relatively cheap gamble (less than $5).
The good ones are scratch-resistant, do not take away any quality from the screen, and are barely noticeable. The only downside, they pick up fingerprint oils VERY easily. If that bothers you, have a microfiber cloth with you. IMO they are on par with the Steinheils.
I bought mine before the Thunderbolt's release (to prepare for its arrival!) for $3.80 for 6x screen protectors. They're still within the same price range.

Those are the best screen protectors I've ever used. I have the ultra clear one and I can't tell that it's there. And it's super smooth!
It does get pretty fingerprinty though and I've heard good things about their "anti-fingerprint" line. It's worth a look if you care about that kind of stuff.

The anti-fingerprint ones are matte. They have that frosted look. Personally, I prefer ghost armor or ZAGG over the stienheils. It's because I like wet application though so I don't get crap stuck between the screen and the screen protector.

Use that link and order the ultra fine screen protector. It's the yellow one and is anti-fingerprint. The way these screen protectors feel are fantastic. They're super smooth and glide very easily. Comparatively speaking, the zagg shields IMO are sticky. I also feel weird getting my phone wet to put on a screen protector. Just me though....

Are these comparable to the PowerSupport screen protectors for Apple products?
Starting to get tired of the Zagg's tackiness.
They are pretty darn cheap for a 3 pack I might just order one.
Ya I had iPhone 3gs pretty close to power support. Before this I had zagg just terrible quality and fitting on top wasn't that great and orange peel. Glad I find out this sp

Just got mine in today. Gonna install them later when I can steam the bathroom, but doing a preliminary fit, they cover the screen perfectly.
Edit: After install the bottom edge does not want to stay down. Not much of a problem for me as I have a case on the way.
It does add a rainbow effect to the screen that is most prominent on whites or brighter colors. Don't know if it'll go away with time, but I am willing to live with it for now because the feel is way better than the Zagg.
It is definitely easier to slide my finger around. Does not attract much fingerprints and the anti-glare works well enough for me.
Overall, I'm happy with it. Mostly because of the price and improved feel over the Zagg. I'll have to do some long-term testing regarding the rainbow effect and if I can put up with it.

Just got mine and put one on. Fit is better than most, but the blasted curved edges do cause the top and bottom to lip up. I have an otterbox commuter so i don't even see the bottom just a little lipping at the top. Overall besides that, the cutouts are exact, the camera is perfectly cut and the earpiece looks good too. The anti glare effect is not for everyone, but i do appreciate it although it causes graininess. Barely any grease gets on this guy which is amazing. 8/10 for these protectors.
As compared to powersupport: take it like this... unless powersupport themselves makes protectors for the nexus, these are a clear runnerup to them.
One thing that is EXREMELY frustrating is that they used the system of two tabs on one edge to apply the protector, and they made the two tabs at the bottom of the protector, allowing for zero focal point to pivot the protector. Really wish they put them at the top. I still managed a perfect fit though

I just received mine. Here was my application method:
- Wipe with Windex electronics wipe
- Wipe with included microfiber cloth
- Spray with air duster can
- Peel off first layer and apply tape to the adjacent corner
- Position and press down with included card or plastic squeegee
- Peel off last layer and smooth out with microfiber and card
I LOVE the texture. Swyping is much easier. The matte finish is nice and goes well with my Qubits case. It does however make the screen look a bit grainy. Not so noticeable on dark colors, but when looking at lighter screens (i.e. Message app) it's noticeable.

I agree with the swiping, this matte finish has literately no friction that glass or plastic would have on your fingers, whether their dry, wet, or greasy. Antiglare films are one reason why my Temple Run session was extremely high on the iPod, lol.
Can anyone with this screen protector post some pics or video? Thanks.

I think im going to pull the trigger on these been looking into matte protectors an the reviews for these seem to be better than the rest, wouldn't mind seeing a video or a few pictures before i purchase but im getting real tired of the verizon protector i have
I've said it before in a different thread that the display quality of these devices are absolutely amazing, it would be a pity to ruin that with a screen protector. There isn't a true perfect screen protector, but the two I'd recommend is either XO or martin fields. The basal is cheap, but martin fields is also dry and super clear. However, it is a oil magnet just like the XO.

By reading these comments, wouldn't this screen protector be the same quality as the one Verizon sells? I used to have the Verizon one but I stepped away because of the grainy look on white screens (difficult to read sometimes).

Screen Protector: Matte or Clear?

For those who have one installed or have tried them, which would be better? And which would work better with the pen input?
I moved from a clear screen to matte protector.
Both work with spen input. No difference for me... maybe an artist can tell u any finer differences.
Picking between matte and clear is your choice... google for pros/cons of each and see which works in your usage scenario.

Oh ok, that is good, no difference then. I went with clear, it has always been what I have used, no distortion in picture, it may have a bit more glare but much easier for me and cheaper. I will just change to a plastic tip then.
Im probably posting this too late.. But when you buy a screen protector for the note.. GET A PLASTIC ONE. not the vinyl self healing type . They do cause drag with the S pen .The cheaper ones work best.... I also use matte finish some of the anti fingerprint ones have a bit of a surface thats not perfect slick feels a bit more like paper. Kinda like the surface area of my Wacom Tablet...

.
I am away from using screen protectors for some years now and I never had problems so far with any damages on my scrren with Galaxy S9000, SII, SIII and Tab7 and now NOte 10.1.
Is there any other reason than protecting against scratches ?

I absolutely agree with that. Problem is that the GNote 10.1 has not the highest resolution and a matte protector will allways make the screen image less sharp. In the case of the GNote 10.1 it makes a huge difference for me. On my HoX with >300 ppi I can barely see the difference.
That is very unfortunate, cause I like the pros of matte screen protectors very much:
-Better touch/slide feeling
-More resistance for S-Pen -> feels more like paper
-Less fingerprints
-No reflections
But, you know, try it out, it's not like the protectors are very expensive...
I posted this on another forum I frequent, but feel its purpose could be better served in this thread.
Any screen protectors like this ArmorSuit MilitaryShield that feature a high gloss, spage-age alien technology with some crazy horse**** composite material that reforms and repairs itself: DO NOT EVER BUY THIS IF YOU WANT TO USE YOUR STYLUS!
The weird material this thing is made of has two properties which immediately prove about as negative as possible:
1. As soon as you put your stylus to the screen, it looks like you've stabbed a hole in the protector or screen itself. Writing just continues that streak and it honestly looks like you're scratching the **** out of your device.
2. If you're able to make it past that initial shock from thinking you've just destroyed your screen, you won't be able to write for long because this protector feels like it's made of super glue designed to bond stylus tips to its surface. Trying to write the title to a powerpoint slide I was transcribing in class ended up giving me about 1/3rd the first letter before jumping, completely skipping the next letter, and then just picking up / leaving off at random so it looked like I was trying to create some alien language.
Also, the ArmorSuit Military Shield shipped with a single screen protector and, not a joke or exaggeration, an instructional video (found on YouTube by the manufacturer) which literally instructs you to cover your hands and screen protector in this liquid found in the packaging; so much of it that you're dripping this **** all over the place while you try to slide the screen into place.
I don't know how the nub tipped styli work, as my stylus has a pen tip so your results could be wildly different.
However, for under $10 ($5 less than the ArmorSuit Shield above) I picked up a MiniGuard by MiniSuit and, silly naming aside, am extremely happy with the purchase.
Its matte finish isn't so apparent that it reduces the visual quality of the screen, yet it does help reduce glare and fingerprints/smudges. It provides a nice surface for the stylus to write without adding resistance while the stylus is pressed to the screen, or friction from a weird material hell-bent on keeping your stylus from writing for longer than .0000001th of a second without skipping.
The MiniGuard came with 3 screen protectors, a microfiber cloth, and a little cardboard card. This card is kind of small and feels like it could have easily been more useful had it been 1" wider. But, that's a non-issue because my earlier purchase did leave me with a way better air bubble pusher card.
I'm sure there are other protectors out there that do this job just as well if not better, but, from the two I've recently purchased and tried I figured sharing my experience on this front might help one of you avoid wasting money on something utterly useless.

Thanks for the advice. You convinced me and I just bought one here (more convenient for European customers).
I already have a matte screen protector (bought cheap) so I know what to expect. Anyway I hope the miniguard will be of better quality and that, with three chances, I'll be able to install it better than the one I already have (with a couple of dust grains I couldn't get rid of).
I have the Armoursuit that nick mentioned, and I agree. The stylus drags on it big time. I have half a mind to just take the damn thing off.

Tempered Armor Glass Screen Protector

Tempered Armor just launched their Galaxy S3 tempered glass screen protector December 2nd. Saw a review video for their Note 3 protector and absolutely loved it (Link if curious: http://youtu.be/Qzhst5jrBtI). I picked it up the same day it released.
It came in two days ago and of course I install it immediately. At first, I thought great, the adhesive is doing it's thing. Then, once I took the blue plastic cover off, the disappointment set it. At a nearly uniform distance completely around the protector, the adhesive doesn't stick. I had used their packaged microfiber and their packaged isopropyl wipes for the install. Thought cool, maybe it will take a few days. And fast forward to today, it still looks the same.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know. I love how it feels; I've always hated those crappy plastic protectors.
I reached out to Tempered Armor via Twitter and got no help other than them claiming it was user error and/ or the alignment is off. I sent them a Dropbox link with pictures of the alignment and they came back with the protector won't work if it is "off a hair".
Here's our Twitter conversation: https://twitter.com/temperedarmor/status/413801200866574336
Here's the Dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i6wur2j57ql99c7/qyw6TAEb_y
So if you are thinking about ordering one, make sure you have a micron microscope to get it aligned correctly.
Meh,
I have had similar problems with SProtectors. I do believe that the glass on most S3's have a slight curve at the outer edge.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
Whenever I press down on the outside edge, it feels like the glass protector doesn't even try to stick. I feel like the adhesive wasn't properly applied to the protector before shipping.
What really got me was when customer support mentioned if it was "off a hair" it wouldn't sit right. How are you going to sell a screen protector that has a fault tolerance in alignment of a width of a hair?
Typical lack of customer service or care. This why I try to support companies like, Anker, zero lemon, Amazon. They actually care about quality and their customers. As info,
We have 3 galaxy S3 in my home and all have a slight curve downward at the edges.

The one I have is .3, so just a bit thinner. on all of the cases I have used, it doesn't interfere with the case. I have used it with the Otterbox Commuter case and it looks fine. Right now, I'm using it with a rubber/plastic case that I found at Walgreen's of all places. There is usually a small gap between the edge of the screen protector and the case. I'll see if I can get a picture up

Whenever i put a screen protector on my s3 the touch screen glitches, key presses al over the screen like whenever i press the app drawer it opens my notification bar, whenever i type something it scrolls up,so does that have anything to do with the quality of the screen protector?
