Phone using more power than charger can provide most of the time. - HTC One X

Hello, as the title suggests , my HTC One X is using more power than the charger can provide, even when idle.
When the phone is on, it doesn't charge unless the screen is off, and even then it is very slowly. Almost we whenever I turn the screen on it starts to discharge when plugged in. I am using the standard 1000mah charger.
It only used to do that when I was playing 3d games (only the highest).
I am using ARHD 7.1.0 and faux 004b6.
Please help, this is hard to live with
After I wiped battery stats and had it on for about 10 minutes (started on 5%).

Mine did this when I was charging on the computer via USB but I think it was due to the fact USB is only 500mA i think and the cable I had was like 2 meters in lenght so wasnt expecting much. Are you using the USB you got with it?

Use the original cable and see what happens, most 2m cables are very inefficient.

I got this to and I am using a Samsung galaxy s charger still when I play minecraft on my phone it don't charge it fast very...... Very....... Very...... Slow progress then

When you play a fairly intensive game like minecraft and try to charge it then yes it will take longer to charge. For the quickest charging time use the official plug and cable and have the phone turned off.

Looks like it was the cable, the metal inside had gone all black I don't know why. Thanks for the help.

[Q] Wall charger vs USB charger

Hi,
I have noticed my phone charges much quicker via the USB on my PC. It takes about 2 hours to charge fully, while the wall charger takes 3-5 hours to charge like 40% or something.
The specifications for the wall charger are:
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 50/60Hz 0.2A
OUTPUT: 5.1V=== 850mA
I do'nt know what the specs for my USB port are? Can I check it in the BIOS? I have googled and found it's something around 5V 500mA, so technically my phone would charge slower...
This is how the wall charger looks like (you can unplug the USB-cable and use it on the PC since it's not a standard USB-mini connection).

Well the 500mA is the minimum spec for USB, basically they say its at least 500mA so that manufactures know how much power to expect and can design devices to run at that amount of power or less. That being said, USB can be anything above 499mA, I have seen a laptop put out 2000mA before even. So yes it is quite possible that your computer could put out over the 850mA of your charger. It probably won't say what its capable of delivering in your BIOS, if you really want to know you could try to find the specs for your computer/mobo/usb chipset. All that being said, you could always get a different USB wall adapter if you wanted to charge faster w/o a computer, just because it came with the one you currently use doesn't mean you have to use it (it is just a powered USB port after all).

Thanks, I will have to look into this, since someone else was implying my charger is broken...

Seems like your wall charger is defective, normally It takes about 1.5-2 hours for working wall charger to make the job done.
Standard PC USB port output is 5v==500mA, so it's strange that you can fully charge 1140 mAh battery just in 2 hours.

No AC Charging

Please help me to revive my lovely desire.
Problem:
It doesnt matter wich ac adapter i use it only uses usb speed.
I tried flash ChromiumOS yesterday and tried a backup from my old vijendrahs cm10.1 v6.3.
=> It's not the rom.
I used two different batterys...
(But they have only 20% capacity left...)
When did the problem occurs?
I charge my desire with an battery pack and then the battery pack gone flat and a few minutes after this the desire shut down.
Since this incident my desire didn't load in ac mode anymore...

The problem might be caused my the Plug to USB adapter. Do you have another one of these things lying around?

Try the 4ext recovery USB unbrick option. If your phone rooted/s-off?

it's s-off, but it didn't work.

What the hell.

Today my phone started to not charge while I had it plugged in and using it at the same time. A few weeks ago I also was getting a notification that said "use the charger the phone came with because this one isn't giving enough power" or some message like that when I always use the original htc charger. My phone is actually losing battery while I have it plugged in now. This is annoying! I'm unrooted and stock.
This message is popping up Btw.

Have you tried a factory reset? If that doesn't work, I bet firewater combined with a Rom and kernel would...our developers kick ass.

Most times I have had this it was charger and/or cable related. I have had an HTC cable that does this and also bad cables. The problem is you are stuck in USB charge mode instead of ac. First method of troubleshooting is another charger and cable.

Ok well, I used a different charger but I think it's a weak one because it took forever to charge and the battery seems to be draining rather quickly.. I used to get almost 5 hours on screen time. About 20 perfect drain every hour. I just unplugged it 30 mins ago and it's already down to 85 percent and I've barely used it. Wtf?

HTC 10 charger not work, auto turn off after plug in 3 seconds.

Hello you guys, I just bought an HTC 10 yesterday. And my stock charger has problem. When I plug in, its only charge about 3s ( On my phone, notice connect fast charge also appear ) then auto turn off. Led turn to orange, and turn off after 3s too. I tried to put another charger from my LG with 5v-1,8A, and its ok. With my charger, I tried with many others phone, and its still ok too. I'm wondering the problem comes from my HTC 10 or my charger and type-C cable? Anyone have the same problem with me? Pls help me :crying::crying: I bought this phone from an user and it doesn't have warranty, I'll buy Anker charger which support QC 3.0 but now I'm so confused. Give me your advice.. Sr for bad English.

Here is my stock charger, I think it's original
So the charger works with other phones and other chargers work with your 10? Very odd. It doesn't sound like a firmware issue, try a hard reset and make sure there's nothing in the ports. At least you can charge it with another cable until you resolve it.

Thank you, finally I've found the reason came from my charger. It only works with devices which not have Fast charge technology. Yesterday I tried with Samsung S6's charger, and my HTC 10 has no problem. Battery from 13%-46% in 20 mins. I'll test again with charger which has QC 3.0 ^^ Have a nice day buddy.

Ah that makes sense! Glad you got to the bottom of it.
The stock cable is bad, I've tried several cables and the one that works the best is this one

USB-C dongle w/45W chg & 3.5mm Headphone Jack

I see some of these online... but when used with 45W wall charger from Samsung, do all versions properly pass the 45W through to the phone, or does the dongle interfere?

I don't like the fact it claims it protects device against excess current. It says it supports PD fast charging though so it should be good.
Well, I bought this and tested it:
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/moshi-...e-jack-adapter-silver/6352696.p?skuId=6352696
And it appears it only allows rates of charging higher than 5W if you plug it into the phone first, then plug the charging wire into it, not the other way around. My excitement was short- lived though...
I am going to return it, because after much testing it became apparent that it cannot charge at a rate higher than ~15W, when it should have allowed ~25 (and this with trying the meter both before and after the dongle)..

Do not buy any of these unless from samsung!
I just checked the "Samsung Members" app and saw this warning. I will post more here as I learn anything...
