Anyone had screen replaced? - HTC One X

Hi, has anyone had their screen replaced by HTC? I have some pretty deep scratches on mine and was wondering how much it would cost.
Thanks.:good:

I had mine replaced, but under warranty. I think it's somewhere around 150 quid.

Same here £150

I had changed mine. My touchscreen panel was broken because I dropped the phone accidentally. I also was suffering from "yellow stains" issue on screen.
And with unrooting/relocking and a good scenario I put the device under terms of guarantee .
Took a whole month (to the spare lcd and touchscreen to be delivered and being repaired) but it was worth it! Phone is now good as new, and no yellow stains on lcd.
So just make up a good scenario, it may work for you.

what to do with phone now?

Hey guys I dropped my phone pretty hard yesterday, it doesnt appear that the outter glass cracked, but the screen stays completly black now, but if you look at it right you can see cracks that appear to be under the outter glass. I have seen the digitizer kits to fix lcd screens for about $150 so if i bought one of those would that fix my issue? im asking cause most the time i see that it fixes cracked lcds and like i said mine isnt cracked on the outter glass its cracked inside and the screen stays black, but i know its on because the bottom buttons light up and i get sound and vibration just fine. so would lcd digitizer replacement fix this?
If you have insurance, I'd utilize that.

I'm sure all phone insurances with sprint don't cover severe physical damaged caused by you..
If you have the insurance, replacing the entire device would cost $150 and save you the time and trouble of fixing it. By far the easiest option if you have it.
If not, it depends on your level of expertise with electronic repair. The LED screen and digitizer (touchscreen) are glued together on this phone, meaning you wuld have to have a good deal of patience and skill with a heat gun in order to pull the two apart. Your best bet might be searching for a digitizer and LED screen in one piece. I've seen them for $260-270 on eBay.
I'm a Sprint technician, so feel free to ask any other questions and I'll help if I can. Sorry about your luck with the phone, bud!

Shattered Glass

Well, today was a say day for me, for I dropped my HOX on some concrete and shattered the glass, phone still works and lcd isn't damaged... but I was wondering if theres anyone here who knows a decent repair centers in the UK, i've seen this http://compare.ebay.co.uk/like/2511...ixedPriceItemTypes&var=sbar&adtype=pla&crdt=0 and i'm pretty sure thats all I need... I could even try myself
Perhsps HTC can sell us an original part, we could also ask for s one x+ battery. I don't know how much the one x digitisee and glass replacement would cost. The whole svren inc LCD is 160 IIRC so probably less than 100?
I also.have a damaged screen. My concern is whether the. Parts are really originals as claimed, be cause I'd like a real gorilla glass panel. Also, how do I reconnect the connectors I have to unplug to get the screen . Presumably it's obvious otherwise it would have been mentioned in repair guides.
HTC may repair and sell originals, how much for I don't know.
My LCD appears fine usually, but sometimes there is a yellow tint to some of the screen, presumably related to epoxy glue. Also I was pressing down on the Screen and now one of the cracks appear slightly blue Around the edges, not sure if this will change if I replace.
Finally I saw a story on xdA I think of a guy who Bricked his while trying to replace the screen.

From what I have seen in One X screen replacement videos and read in this and other forums the digitizer is not easily separable from the LCD. So most probably you'll have to replace the whole display assembly (i.e digitizer + LCD screen).
Nope
None of the replacement parts in this thread so far are close to genuine, and will be cheap crap.

This is what a genuine replacement looks like, and costs. If it's under £100, forget it; it's crap. If it comes as separate parts, it's crap. The One X screen is bonded at the factory across the entire area of the screen - you will never get a good screen if you assemble it yourself, or even if a repair centre does it. You'll get an air gap between the LCD and digitizer, and therefore it will look awful in daylight.

Call up HTC. I've done some research, seems to agree with what is posted above.
I feel your pain.. I have a small crack on the side of my S3 screen. How bad is it? If its smalland on the side check out an overlay Luke by Spectre. They are about 4mm thick and are cut to cover the whole face of the screen

[Q] Broken Screen Question

I dropped my phone onto the ground and the back cover flew off while i was using an extended battery. No physical damage can be seen by me. I go to turn my phone on and the screen is half black half green (constantly switching colors every 30 seconds or so). Do i need to get a new phone or is there a way to fix this? Apparently the screen is "bleeding". Can anyone help who has had a similar problem?

well, you could get a replacement lcd assembly, but the replacement procedure is rather involved. also, such assemblies are very expensive, generally in the $200 range (http://www.ebay.com/itm/LCD-Display...674?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item257a58df72). it would probably make more sense to get a new device.
That's what i feared. Thank you though for your help
Do service repair request with Samsung for screen repair. Its under $200 and you should get a warranty with it. Replacing yourself is a bit cheaper but not much and not worth it.

thanks. I think i'm going to get a new device however. Still not sure. All these screen issues seem to be water damage but there wasn't any water around here i dropped it

[Q] Is My Digitizer Broken or do I have main board issues?

I have an LS970 and I recently dropped it pretty hard onto a desk. The bottom quarter of the screen stopped working after the drop along with the capacitive touch buttons at the bottom. I was able to deal with this but today when I sat on the couch my phone fell again and a crack went down the middle of the digitizer. Now only some areas work and I am not able to unlock it. Before I buy a new digitizer and lcd I want to know if it could have also been main board issues that made the bottom part of the screen not work since no cracks appeared after dropping it on a desk. Thanks
I am about 99% sure its ya digitizer/LCD ... The main bored is tucked well in the middle of the phone ....I have pictures up on the sim card mod thread if u wanna c ...

Alright thanks. I'll go ahead and order a new lcd/digitizer tonight. I hate how they're combined as my lcd is fine but I'd rather fix it than buy another phone.
Thanks again.

It's the digitizer. I have a wonderful wife whom I love very much who has broken her screen three times. Each time that the screen broke, the digitizer went with it. It has to do with the fact that there is essentially no separation between the two on our phones, so drops that damage the screen almost always damage the digitizer.

I just picked up a broken LG Optimus G off craigslist and toward the bottom of the screen it has a hairline crack. Also the capacitive buttons do not work either....my problem sounds exactly like the OP.
Can anyone suggest a good place to buy a cheap digitizer/glass/ LCD?? I'm lookin on ebay and they seem to be about $80
Thanks,
Kevin
I've been looking around ebay too and they're all about 80 for the cheapest. I checked out a few phone repair websites and prices are much higher there. If you find anything cheaper let me know. I plan on buying it soon.
EDIT: The best I found on ebay was 78 was from the US and 69 from China. I know they are all from china but it's just a shipping time thing.

Based on the dialogue I had when my wife's screen broke not only with the insurance carrier but also a repair shop, replacing the screen or digitizer on this phone is always going to be very expensive because both parts almost always have to be replaced together. $80 sounds very inexpensive to me based on those conversations.

glass screen replacement

Got this weird little chip at the bottom of the screen.. happened when the phone was in my pocket too..
I know its not much, but if screen replacement is cheap, i would do it. ANyone do it? or have a shop do theirs?
I know its not too bad, but when u making payments on the device, would be nice to have it still looking new.
I remember from my S4 days, it was advised to do the screen swap with the glue stuff..
Mine just cracked too luckily I'm insured.
