Every time you flash something that is not a Samsung stock software from your PC with Odin the binary count is raised. Ir reflects the number of non-stock flashed items, but the count can be reset to 0 with Triangle Away by Chainfire. Check his thread to download it or buy it in Play Store.

So as answered on top by gee2012, binary counter counts how many time you flashed your device with not official firmware. There are other ways to drop the counter to 0, but everything downloaded and installed from net is risky! and first of all ask yourself a question, do you need root? sure? why? Because Android is open enough, it’s not IOS which you can’t do nothing on unless you Jailbreake and even then it’s less useful than Android!
Sorry had to correct my post due to old info.

Be very careful, because Triangle Away is only for ICS (Android: Ice Cream Sandwich). Will not work on other firmware 4.1.1 like yours!

Incorrect. Probably a good idea to check your "facts" before repeating them to others.
TriangleAway works just fine on JB. Chainfire updated it a while ago.

Well i tryed on my SHV-E250S, version v2.10, just two days ago, and it told me: see attache pic.
May be it`s the problem in my EFS that couse this, well if it works with JB as well, i take my statement back! for me it did not.
on Chainfire`s triangle away page:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
He says: Various Qualcomm-based Samsung devices should now be supported as well, but I don't know which ones - please let me know!
Suspected is a large range of Qualcomm based Note and S2 variants.
** Various related models are supported depending on firmware, but only the exact model numbers listed are supported regardless of firmware version.
Whether or not Triangle Away works depends largely on your kernel. Flashing a different kernel may make it work if it previously didn't.
Please also note that some devices set the counter to 1 at every boot if you are running a custom kernel or recovery.
So for mine it didn`t work yet.((( (SHV-E250S)
But still, yes, i admit that was wrong, probably read an older post. Sorry, gona correct my post!

Sorry, I've been here years yes, but I'm not a ROM or device expert. I save my programming expertise for my paid job.

How about doing some research yourself.
Putting your questions in google might give some results. And if not you can put that here so you dont look like a little baby crying for mommy.
ps. i googled and found 3 possible solutions already. 5 minute work. Damn. Seriously SHAME ON YOU those above me! (for not taking the time to search for yourself, but letting others do the hard work).
@HanZie82 Instead of offending, ask yourself what sense a forum titled "Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting"...!!!

Can you tell me where do you check flash counter in SGT3?
There is no info about it in download mode and 'Triangle Away' is unsupported on this device.
What's more, after returning to stock from custom ROM 'Current binary' and 'System status' are both changed to 'Official', so there are two options - counter is hidden or there is no counter at all.

Hi, welcome to Grand community
Samsung is a little different from HTC in terms of reverting back to warranty status
For a while now Samsung implemented a BIN status in it's phone which tracks if an how many times your phone has had it's download mode used to flash firmwares or recoveries. This is the primary means of checking for your warranty.
When you are unrooting, there are specific steps you will have to follow to make 100% certain that there is no trace of your phone ever being rooted.
Please check this post for step-by-step process : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46309944&postcount=31
App required, Triangle Away : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.triangleaway

You can download it for free from the dev's original thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114
The play store payment is a way of thanking him for this app, but the dev has been generous enough to provide a full version for free.
A detailed step by step explanation for Odin can be found here : http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...e-guide-using-odin-de-bloat-root-recover.html
It's a guide for flashing firmware in S3 but it's same process.

-No theres no reason to tick repartition unless you're flashing a 3 part firmware.
-im pretty sure it doesnt have to be carrier locked
-jb update for us was a disaster :/

Nice one, JB, is running smooth and quick, after reading about a ram hack on this site , which has increased my max ram to 624mb instead of

Ok sorry in advance for seeming like a noob... I haven't rooted an android device since the galaxy prevail years ago.... I currently have a sprint galaxy s6 ( BOL1 UPDATE) and I have been looking for how to root it but either I'm missing something or I haven't seen any root specific posts regarding the BOL1 UPDATE... I just want to be safe before flashing anything so any guidance in the right direction would be greatly appreciated...

Might be time. I would want to bring in @JoeFCaputo113 who created the original guide that we all used to get started.
Joe, a lot of people are asking if the same methods work for OL1. (They do, but people ask.)
And we can address using the new SuperSU (which Joe originally posted about) as well.
Thoughts?

Can you screen shot your kernel information in settings and then about phone so I can see what it says for the rooted kernel. And copying the entire system to use it on the other phone is possible. Just depends on certain things.
I guess I should of bought a rooted one myself...........
think that no one has the root yet on this phone, so, pay attention to the instructions that forum masters will give to you. You could be a HERO for the entire Sm-n920a community and users hahahah. Btw, i don't know your knowledge about this things but yes, is possible to do this. Obvious, when someone of the biggest users will teach you how to do what you need, you could share the system clone with us!
Not to mention there's a big donation for anyone that finds a root method. So if you really have a rooted at&t note 5 there could be money coming your way.

Do you have a username? I got another member to join in again who says he knows how to complie kernels with ease. So lets hope this gets going! Everything is layed out we just need to get the code written. Remember anything is possible when you put you're mind to it, but this is with code. Kexec has worked in the past for locked bootloaders so I don't see why my notes in theory but plausible.

Can we get a system dump of your partitions? We just need your kernel zImage and I can put it together.
I'd really like to see a dump of the system partition.
Follow a guide a make a full system dump of your rooted phone and then make a nandroid backup.
Upload it to us and we can make a clone. Please!
If you have a real full root. We need your system dump to unlock at&t and Verizon both.

Chill bro I'm working on getting it from him. I've seen accident eng phones released by Samsung before so maybe it happened again.
There's no root for AT&T Note 5 SM-N920A if you are running Marshmallow with the Nov security update! If you are on this version you are screwedededed!!!! I tried every type of way to install firmwares PH4 ==> PH2 and I tried every version of firmware I could find on this planet. I have tried OGG. I have tried crashing my installation, then trying to downgrade.
Long story short; If you have an unlocked SM-N920A running Android 6.01 with Nov Security Patch I will definitely be donating to you if you upload. If you aren't a member of this forum I promise you that you are safe. The guys here will help you make a copy of the firmware which will not include your personal information. (Look for the guys with lots of Thanks, listen to them)
So if you are coming in from Google and you are wondering if you can root or downgrade now you know that you can't. I'm a beginner Android Developer who follows directions like a champion, save your time trying to downgrade it is fully blocked by the bootloader.
