T-Mobile Note II Release and LTE - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

I work at T-Mobile and we received our Titanium Gray demo model today. We also received two units to sell on October 24th. My manager also happens to be the regional sales manager, and has confirmed the release date of October 24th. While looking at the box on the back it has the following bands listed 2100, 1900, 1800, 1700, 900, and 850. I could be wrong but isn't the 2100 and the 1700mhz band used for LTE?

You only got two to sell?? with no presales or anythings its first come first serve for just two units? i hope that isn't customary for all tmobile stores?

Yeah it sucks. Supposedly we are getting some tomorrow but I doubt it. Especially considering that I will be buying one of them. I also called a few other stores and they all only have the titanium gray. So who knows whats going on as far as colors.

I stopped by a T-mobile on the way home from class tonight and they're still thinking it could be any time before Black Friday. It certainly seems like the T-Mobile launch will be very much a YMMV type of deal.

T-mo getting devices ready to sell on the 24th
according to the examiner
http://www.examiner.com/article/samsung-galaxy-note-2-arrives-at-t-mobile-stores

I went to a t-mobile today to get the isis sim and they were playing with the demo. I played with it and it was very nice. They also said they are selling it on wed. However, they wouldn't tell me the price.

For those who have access to a US one now, is there an FM radio chip/app? EDIT: Also, does it have multi-view out of the box? I'll be upset if we have to wait for an update cause it's definitely going to take a while.

Can you see if they are Exynos processors? I looked on T-Mo support pages and they have it marked as Qualcomm quad core.

99% sure its an exynos I can get a screenie tomorrow. The one we have does not have multitasking

Thanks Knils. I suspected as much about the multi-view since the same thing happened with other countries, but their updates were much faster since their phones don't come loaded with carrier software. Can you check to see if there's FM radio tomorrow? EDIT: Also, is wifi calling present?

Will this be a midnight release sort of affair?

Yes I will check that out for you. Glad to help.

As far as I know no store in my are will be doing a midnight release. But let's just say I might be closing late tomorrow night.

Thanks for the quick reply! You wouldnt happen to be working in Georgia now would you?! haha, ill inquire at my local store. Now im hoping that they will be carrying the white model. I'd be pretty bummed since i kinda hyped myself up

Hey guys, do we have confirmation on the LTE radio there but not in use?
I'm in NYC, and I sure hope they have more than 2! lol.
Also, i'm a bit confused by the specs of the HSPA+. I keep reading about 21Mbps and haven't found any that state 42Mbps. Anyone know the details?

One of my local stores in Brandon, Fl only has 3 to sell.

If I remember correctly the back of the box does state it as being 42mbps. I knew I should have been taking photos of the note not with the note. I actually live in the northern Utah area and at least in my area alot of stores have a fairly limited stock.

That made up my mind. I won't be getting a Note 2. I don't want to wait 1-5 months for an update for features that should be already on the device. I guess the next Nexus may be my device.

My sisters wife works at a store in griffin and they had a demo unit. So she probably has them there.

Not sure how the midnight release rumor got out, but I don't think t-mobile or any carrier will open at midnight to sell 2 or 4 Notes to some goofy nerds.

[Q] T-Mobile Galaxy Nexus?

Is there any bew on a T-Mobile Galaxy Nexus? I know during the press conference they said that there wouls be an LTE and an HSPA+ version, so that would hint to a T-Mobile release but i was wondering if anything was official yet.
Sent by Thor's SGS4G from Valhalla using the xda app
I have no doubt that T mobile will get it, mainly because they were the only one to get the Nexus one and the first to get the Nexus S
I think besides Verizon, TMobile will get it because the GN can support the AWS spectrum out of the box! That will be a huge point in sales
I reallllllly want it to because... Well i think it's obvious

I went last night to tmobile store to check on the SGS2. I really not wow with the phone. I really want nexus I sold my sensation for it. Now I am using Samsung Gravity old school I can't wait till this phone comes out to tmobile
The SGSII was going to be my next phone until i watched the Nexus press conference and it just blew me away so unless it's a ridiculous price, im getting the GN

I can't wait for it! It NEEDS to be announced officially for T-Mobile already. I really hope it's subsidized too!

always the phones come to the US with similar price. It will not be more than 600$ without contract and almost 200 to 250$ with 2 yrs agreement. hopefully it comes to best buy as soon as it release.

I had the previous nexus devices on Tmo and I loved being on Tmo, when i got stationed up here in Montana i was so sad i would have to switch to VZW, but now i dont feel so bad
I'm 99% sure they will fire the fact in the presentation it had 42mbps support for HSPA+ and tmobile is the only US company for that plus it supports tmobiles bands and they always got the nexus first so I believe they will and hope so as well

It's a pentaband phone as several have mentioned on other threads so even if it's the HSPA+ version is not sold in the US, you'll be able to import it and it'll work on T-Mobile's network. Also the GSM version did get approved by the FCC about 1-2 weeks ago (LTE version has yet to come through) which is leading me to believe one of three things: 1 there will be no VZW exclusivity and they'll launch LTE and HSPA+ same day, 2 VZW will have limited exclusivity and be able to sell the LTE version in their stores while you have to order the HSPA+ from Google/Best Buy/or another retailer, or 3 there's an issue with the LTE version that they're still working out which is why it's still hush hush on a launch day. Either way, I will get a GSM version of this phone by the end of the year even if I have to import one from overseas.

maybe it's a misplaced attachment to tmo...but like you said to switch to VZW is not a bad thing
Rumor has it that it will release on November 10 on Verizon first. Verizon may get exclusivity for a few months and then other carriers would get it as well. But thats just my two cents

No way.... They have to be competitive
I doubt it'll push $800 of contract. You can't use the prices from non-US retailers to gauge what it'll cost in the US because their prices include VAT and our dollar has fallen weaker than their currency. Instead look at what similarly priced devices are going for off contract and you'll get a better idea of what it'll be. I highly doubt it'll cost more than $600-$650 for the 32GB LTE version (GSM should be cheaper since Verizon charges a premium on LTE right now) and the 16GB version will likely be around $550USD off contract. I wish they'd hurry up and announce some official release dates and pricing so all these speculative pricing/carrier threads would die.
The 16gb version will probably be $529. I dont think many have contemplated the fact that google might be subsidizing the nexus line of phones seeing as the previous ones were $529. Im hoping a 32 gb gsm version is released and doesnt clock in at more $600.
I voided my warranty and your mum.

anyone else holding their breath for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus tomorrow? vote!

Lol don't worry about an LTE/GSM Nexus, if it actually happens it's going to come out next year at this rate. 32GB has pretty much been nixed save for Verizon's version. The leak for the Nexus in VZW tomorrow stated a WEB ONLY release, so it MIGHT still happen I guess, as December 1/8 is stating that's when they'll get it IN STORES with props and flyers, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

And then in 2013, when AT&T LTE is ready, you can use it!
When the Nexus launches on VZW I'm going to be switching from AT&T to Verizon. I've had AT&T for just about 10 years now, faithfully, but there are certain connections problems I'm just getting sick of dealing with. A few places that get no data connection at all, despite having full service and the bright H+ at the top of the phone (indicating HSPA+). I've already had 2 "4G" phones from AT&T (the Atrix 4G and now Samsung Galaxy S II) and I'm sick of dealing with dead spots.
That said, I believe it will be out on December 8th. Any sooner than that is probably just wishful thinking. If it *does* come out sooner I'll get it first day...but definitely not thinking it will.

Aye. A friend of mine from highschool (has it already been 10 years? yikes) is a regional manager at VZW and he said he still doesn't have a date, but he also said Verizon probably won't tell the employees until it's very close to release because (in his words, not mine) Verizon employees don't have a track record for keeping their lips shut. He did promise me that he doesn't know when the date is and that he would tell me when he does.

That's why I ditched At&t for T-Mobile. At home I have full bars but can't hold a call for nothing. My gf has at&t still and I can never hardly get a hold of her.
We had 4 people over once and we all had full bars but none of us could call out to order a pizza. My friends have labeled my area a cellular black hole. Most of my nieghbors have recently switched too.
T-Mobile works fine but not on the road so much. My work verizon blackberry seems to always work everywhere I go. So I'm thinking of upgrading the blackberry and get rid of my personal line on TMo.
I don't have extra money till Friday so doesn't matter to me. I'm gonna wait it out for a few after release to allow others to figure it out. I want to make sure its gonna suffice. I'm kinda leery of dopey relying on Verizon cause I tether my Asus Transformer when I travel and like to play with it alot.
LTE doesn't bother me. Ill just disable it most of the time to save battery. 3G is fast enough for me for day to day stuff.

Galaxy Nexus passes FCC for AT&T

Hey guys, let me know if this isn't the right place for this, but it seems The GN has gotten the okay from the FCC to run on AT&T bands, 850 and 1900 I believe.
Do you guys think it will work for T-Mobile?
Id post a source but I cant, gonna have to ask you guys to google it haha
As with all other phones specifically for at&t only 2g will work for t-mobile as it needs 1700mhz for tmo3g.
Either way I saw this news earlier and still don't know what to make of it. I don't know if that means that at&t is interested or if it has something to do with Canada. It could even be just in case at&t becomes interested down the line who knows.

The unlocked GN is pentaband HSPA+, meaning 3G on AT&T and T-Mobile.
If there was a version for AT&T with 850/1900, it would only get 2G on T-Mobile.

No, the one going for sale in Canada was the one that passed the FCC 4 weeks ago, the i9250M. That is a Bell exclusive for 45 days. The i9250T, which just passed the FCC, is going to Rogers/Telus in Canada.
It makes no sense for them to release other models of this phone to att or T-Mobile because this supports them all. I am on T-Mobile USA and this phone gives me great speeds. Unless they make another one for att lte

Yea i see the crazy pricing, but if you really think about it, its not too far off from what the price will be here in the US when the GSM drops (assuming its 549-599$ + tax). For me its more about the hastle of having to deal with international shipments. I told myself i would never go that route to feed my addiction, but i really want this phone. Ive looked at Clove.co.uk, Expansys (or Expensive as i call it), Handtec. Im looking for the smoothest sale. Is the 1700MHz really gone or simply untested? Is it different hardware or are they simply inhibiting the 1700MHz with a different baseband firmware? And if so, can the 1700MHz be resurrected with a simple baseband swap? These carrier specific versions really are a PITA!

It is rumored that Verizon has exclusivity rights to Galaxy Nexus within the states. Its exclusivity time is unknown.

All you gotta do is buy a GSM Galaxy Nexus. It's pentaband so it should work fine on T-Mobile networks.

Expansys & Negri are pretty reputable.
I got mines from Negri for using the promotion code "vzsucks" (might of had expired by now) but you can try. Ships out of Las Vegas, NV.
Expansys I believe ships out from Chicago, IL.
Newegg ships from: New Jersey, California, or Tenn. (Unsure which one it is for the GN)
Got mine from negri, and I am with T-Mobile. Its great a little expensive but well worth it in my opinion. Honestly, I got some sort of a twisted satisfaction knowing that I had it before Verizon assholes got it.. haha. I was upset that it went to Verizon.

Same here, I was like ughhhh! the phone isn't as cool because other people will have it now.
But matter fact, I still have the smiles knowing mines says "Google" instead of "Verizon 4G LTE" on it

Agreed. I went into a Verizon store the day after getting it like 2 weeks ago and pulled it out in front of them. They were amazed, I almost nut my pants.

lol tease.. I wonder if the weight differences between the GSM and CDMA version are even noticeable in the hand

Just curious , I'm so anxious to get this phone , would be nice to see a release date at least you know . The phone came out today at best buy and it kills me to see that it is exclusively for Verizon I was so sure that when this phone was going to come out that it would go to T-Mobile first

Nobody has any indication whatsoever that this phone is coming to T-Mobile officially. Honestly considering that the VZW version just came out yesterday, i wouldn't be holding my breath on a T-Mo announcement any time soon.

It wasn't going to last forever. Can't make a bunch of money without making a bunch of phones.

Honestly just buy the GSM version! I just did and can't wait for it to arrive!
With the Verizon device already down to $150 with a new two-year contract through Amazon Wireless, wonder if that will have any impact on whether a cheaper US version of the GSM Galaxy Nexus gets sold here. Maybe the only option will be to buy an imported GSM device. How soon before the import cost comes down to somewhere less than $600? When the quad core phones come out in the spring?

Amazon Wireless (and similar outlets) are selling brand new phones for around 1/2 their carrier price all the time. They're not discounting because of low demand, it actually makes sense for them to sell at that price. They get new contracts and extra ETFs out of it. It has nothing to do with the price of the GSM version or the version coming to the USA. Verizon has a set exclusivity time, and that contract between VZW and Google isn't going to change based on price.
I don't know how long it'll take for the import price to come down under $600, but it'll definitely be a little while. I bet you'll see it in the low $600's, but under $600 is damn cheap.
just get one imported.. or do like i did and get one in your city. i'm using it on t-mobile and everything works great! 4G/3G with better service than any other phone i've had. Yes!

[Q] Good time to buy? Which version?

Hey everyone!
I have been considering the S3 for sometime and have looked into different sellers and wanted to know your opinions.
I'd prefer to buy the S3 and use it with my tmobile prepaid plan. After looking, I've found the following,
The international version is available on amazon for ~$430 ,blue or white
EDIT: A lot of people on amazon say that Samsung warranty doesn't cover the international version in the US? is it true?
US version is available for $550 at T-Mobile.
My question is, is now a good time to buy the S3 considering its price? or is their an alternative that is better performance for the price?
I've had the Nexus 4 before but I didn't like the camera and battery life. Also, if anyone knows a better store to buy from it would be great.
My final question; is there a grey color of the international version? or is it only the US?
Thanks!
If you can afford a high end phone, buy the Google Edition of the HTC One or the Google Edition of the S4. Or wait for their new Motorola one.
That's what I'm doing next time I upgrade.
Hi, Thanks for the reply!
The issue is I am in desperate need for a cellphone, I am using a very old phone now. Also I don't want go for a high end phone as I will not need the features it has! My budget is ~$450. Main use would be camera, music, gps, note-taking. My main concern though is battery life (which is why I didn't like the N4)

If you aren't going to use the power of a high end phone (maybe you will in the future), maybe get something like an S2. $550 is way too much for this phone. It's way too much when it's brand new. It's over a year old now. No thanks.
Or you could try Swappa. http://swappa.com/buy//samsung-galaxy-s-iii-tmobile
Never used the service before.
I'm really close to using swappa for the first time but hesitant cause I like to have the option to take the phone back if need be to T-Mobile for replacement on site. I say go for swappa if you ask the right questions to the seller of IMEI still good, and proof of phone not being in contract (paid in full, or paid up). I might put my s3 on there soon enough if it comes to that.

But would you recommend the US or the International version? I'm leaning towards the US version because of the RAM and because the grey color is available with T-mobile!
There are some sellers on ebay that have it cheaper than Tmobile but I've never used ebay before and can't find an alternative to buy from.
Can anyone recommend a store from which I can buy it?

www.swappa.com like said before. Also T-Mobile if planning to use on T-Mobile.

Thanks I'm looking at it now. But is there a difference in the performance of the International and the US version? I can't settle on either one
I'm not 100% positive but I don't think the international version will give you hspa, only edge speeds, again not positive and not looking up radio bands of the two while driving (in line at circle k now) if no one jumps in to give info I'll answer when home and settled in.

Only edge speeds on tmobile with the international version. Swappa is great and really easy to use. I've sold phones and bought some before as well.

Thanks for the info, I did a comparison on gsmarena.com http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4238&idPhone2=4804
From what I see both phones are running on the same bands. Can somebody confirm? I might be looking in the wrong area.
EDIT: Looked it up and it seems that it depends on the area. Some areas only have the 1700 band for T-Mobile, which isn't supported by the international version.
Definitely get the T-Mobile version if you plan to stay with T-Mobile. $550 is too much for this phone as of now. I would recommend as the previous poster of a galaxy s2 which you can get brand new for $250. You can also try to buy a use s3 but be aware that T-Mobile phones can get blacklisted easily.

Thanks for informing me about the blacklisting issue. I am thinking of buying it new from ebay but I can't find the right seller. even Swappa only has 3-4 phones and also I don't wanna buy it used.
Either buy locally and meet the seller at a tmobile store to have it checked out, or buy on ebay from a reputable seller. Otherwise T-Mobile is probably your best bet. Ive never used swappa, so I can't attest to that either way.

International over US variant any day!
just go look at the booming development going on over there in the International i9300 forums...they already got a 4.2.2 leak, and plus, international variants always get the OTA Updates and dev support first. honestly the RAM doesn't matter, and the International i9300 has a Quad Core CPU over the US variants' Dual Core.
plus, on Amazon as you said, the International version is cheaper too, so why not.
oh and about HSPA 4G speeds: T-Mobile is slowly rolling out 2100 bands, which IS supported by the international i9300 Galaxy S III, so in certain areas of the US now, you WILL get 4G HSPA speeds.

But what about the Warranty? a lot of reviews on amazon say that Samsung US won't cover the International version. Also I don't think T-Mobile will be rolling out the 2100 band in my area anytime soon as I don't live in a major city.
EDIT: Would the S4 mini be better than the S3 ? anyone?
