FMRadio from n7100 or spiritfm? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

Has anyone tried to get the FM Radio working via the spiritFM app or simply by copying the proper files from an N7100 firmware?
I've attached the FMRadio.apk from my own deodex'd n7100. It might need other files.. if so, let me know. (You could also just pop over the to international NoteII dev forum and download one of the many CWM installable firmware posts there and pull whichever files needed from the .zip archive.
(The same might even be possible for the multi-view stuff)
Take care
Gary

When I go to install it, it starts to try but then fails and says application not installed.
I do have the setting ticked to allow applications from non-market sources to be installed. I just installed the Amazon app store so I know it's letting me install downloaded apks.

Check the following thread for a free download of spiritFM. Try to configure it as an i9300 (read the related parts of the OP, etc) to get it going.
The idea here is just to see if everything hardware-wise is working for the FM radio. If so, it shouldn't be TOO difficult to get the software parts going.

Anyone making any progress here? I'm eager to know if the hardware is present on the device. I'm not hopeful though since it wasn't on the GSIII.

Well, the US variants of the SGS3 were actually a completely different phone than the international variants. With the Note2, the US variants are supposedly identical in hardware to the international N7105. (international Note2 with LTE)
What I don't understand is... why hasn't anyone actually tried spiritFM and posted back their results?

while the differences are much less than the gs3, I don't think they are the same phone. The main difference is in the radios. we won't know for sure until we start seeing teardowns of the us versions. That said, i totally agree. why hasn't anyone tried this?!?!?! whoever has a T-Mobile note, please do this!!!!!

When i flashed N7100 Rom into my T889 phone, i remember i tried the FM radio App and it didn't work. i open the FmRadio app it asked me to plug my headphones to use it as an antenna and when i plugged in my headphone and try to turn it on it didn't do anything...
so i guess there is hardware difference between N7100 and T899.

You're going to need the lib.so files that drive the apk.
I think that may be all, but it's been so long since I had a phone with a fm radio that wasn't utilized by the stock rom that I can't even remember which phone or was though it may have been the Nexus One. I remember for sure that the original Motorola cliq was able to get the fm radio functional but that wasn't an xda forum. I Reckon if anyone has the extra time that a little searching here at xda would shed light on whether more is needed than the apk and the libs.
I know for sure we need a driver though ; p

still no one giving this a try?

I'll definitely try this when my T-Mobile Note II comes in since I would love to have FM radio. I agree that SGS III shouldn't be proof that this won't work since the hardware this time around in our variants is much closer to the international version. It's very possible the hardware is there and the software is disabling it or not accessing it at all. Would these methods require root access? I'm ok with sideloading apps and dumping library files where they need to go. I'd prefer not to root since that would prevent other things from working like ISIS (I'm from Austin) and getting official updates.

I wanted to bump this and ask if anyone has had any luck with this. I had tried the suggested stuff the thread was started on to no avail.

According to samsung the firmware and hardware are present on the phone. However I believe we are missing the library files for accessing it. If anyone has an international note they can extract them from they should work in theory.
Sent from my SGH-T889

I thought the FM Radio not present on the SGH-T889. Or am I missing something?

There's no FM radio hardware AFAIK, and certainly no software from Samsung for it in all the LTE Note 2 variants. The N7100 has a completely different radio chip than its LTE brethren; Intel vs Qualcomm.
See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_Note_II#Communication_processor

Works
Since no one has posted a straight forward answer, yes, I've tried and Spirit FM (free) works on the international version (N7100).

Well we knew that much... The whole initial question was whether it worked on the T-Mobile USA version. Since it doesn't have it embedded in the chip... It doesn't work. No biggie for me since FM blows anyways. I guess it could come in handy in a no data area or emergency...

[Q] i317 missing features

On a hardware level, what options are missing on the i317? Wikipedia, AT&T's Site, and other searches all say different things. I'm considering this as my next phone, though I'm wondering if it will have the FM tuner, or NFC.
Also, I am coming from an atrix 4g. It has a hardware bootloader, and the only way to unlock the bootloader was to burn a fuse on the motherboard of the phone, (or so that is how it has been described to me) what is the bootloader like for the note2?
and finally are there any good custom roms for the note2? I really like my cyanogenmod.
My second choice for my next phone would probably the S3. Any thoughts from other owners?

The note has nfc, but no fm radio. The battery is amazing. The bootloader is unlocked takes about 3 min to root install cwm and flash a custom rom. There is a wip cyanogen mod, but you will loose all the special features like the s-pen. There are some custom roms that are nice and speedy and based off touchwiz so you can keep all the custom features.

I just made the switch about a week ago and I love the phone! I also made the switch from the Atrix 4G the only thing I'm aware of that is missing is the Multi-Window feature. Although I've rooted my phone I haven't found the courage to load a rom, because the stock seems pretty flawless and none of the roms seem stable enough to load onto this beast of a phone!

As already stated, the phone comes with NFC, but no FM tuner.
I've been using Samsung phones ever since the Captivate, and all I can say is flashing and modding these phones are extremely easy.
Lastly, if you are considering the S3, make sure you get the international version (N7100 or N7105).

As much info about GT-N7100 as possible

Hello XDA community.
I really am very frustrated and in need of you help.
TO make story short - i bought this phone and don't know what it is (version) how i can use it (as a cell phone) besides the internet
Samsung Galaxy Note 2: GT-N7100 - What type is this? I think it does not belong to any US carrier (AT&T, T-mobile preferred)
The most important question is if I can use it with T-mobile network?
I tried to follow the unlocking method posted on this forum *#972....#, but no menu showed up.
Please help me - I need all the information i can get.
Thank you
The GT-N7100 is the international version of the Galaxy Note 2..
What problems (in detail) are you experiencing?
I'm using mine on the UK t-mobile network

As the previous poster said, what you have is the international version of the Galaxy Note 2. That being the case it is not locked to any particular carrier. All it needs is a SIM card to make it work as a phone. Yes, it will work with T-Mobile (I have the same phone and I use it on T-Mob) although you could use it on AT&T if you wish.
Depending on what part of the country you're in, you may or may not get consistent 3G or HSPA performance with T-Mob because of slight frequency differences with your phone's radios. I get HSPA+ performance where I live, but if I drive a mile or so east, I only get EDGE speeds.Drive a few more miles, and I'm in HSPA+ territory again. Go figure.
Don't overworry about it. You have a great smartphone, and eventually T-Mobile's network will catch up with it.
Please more help

I am a little better now, but still very very confused.
Now that i know it is international version and will still work with t-mobile 4g - But VERY SLOW - I don't mind since I only use Wifi at home and work.
What i worry now is I put in my T-mobile sim card, and there still nothing showing up. The network does not work.
Any help please.
Don't know if it help, when i bought this phone it already has Super User -that mean they might have Rooted it.
Please help me
Can you try some other sim cards to see if they register? It might be network locked.. I take it you purchased it secondhand?

You're sure it's a legit Galaxy Note 2 and not one of the clones that are being sold?
Especially sine you say it's pre-rooted and you give us no details about where you purchaed it from.
What does the output of *#1234# give you? Please post a screenshot, or detail everything it says. Don't reply with "it shows some things"

First of all, thank you all so much for your help.
here are things
1) i bought this from a guy second hand.
2) these are info in the device (about phone), Model GT-N7100, Android Version: 4.1.1, Baseband version: MAUI.11AMD.W12.22.SP.V7.P3, 2012/12/27 1.22; Kernel version 3.0.13 1217 v5 SMP PREEMPT Wed Jan 9 2013; Builder Number ALPS.Mod_by_vacation team; Custom build version 1356496656
3) I think this phone was Rooted because i see the Super User logo in it. Also i believe it was installed with Custom Rom due to the information in the about section
4) i decided to Unroot the phone and still Stock rom. However, to do this I need to put it in Download mode (Volume Down + Home + Power), but was not successful and the Image 1 appear (green android with red triangle and black exclamation), if i press home buttom, then the recovery list appear (image 2), but nothing work not matter what i press. THe only way is to wait for it to go off on its own, or to remove battery and restart
5) output *#1234# does not do anything. nor *#197..640# does not do anything either.
6) I tried ATT and it works like chams, but No T-mobile sim work.
Please help

This thread and this one should show you a bit more.
Sorry mate, not the news I wanted to give you.
VERY slow part itself raises the massive red flag. Check the following and report back:
a. Do you have full 16GB storage space?
b. Do you see S Pen option in settings? If you do enable airview and see if it's working well now. If it's original, AirView should work well.

Also I threated him that as well, but so far no use.
Also , why would it work for ATT phone

You could attempt to have him done for fraud I guess, very hard to know though. He might claim he didn't know he was selling a fake phone etc. Certainly I'd contact the Police and explain the situation, see what they suggest.
It might work, threaten him that you'll report him to police, did you do that? I say go ahead, it's illegal to sell replicas let alone cheat you like that.
It's pure chance - something might work, some might not. That's the whole point of replica phones, they suck. No idea why Sprint wouldn't work on that, personally.

[Q] Non-carrier firmware vs carrier firmware

Hello all,
I'm just wondering, do you guys notice or know of any real difference b/t the unlocked/non-carrier firmware that's out there and the carrier-specific firmware from T-Mobile for the M8? Is one considered better than the other?
Please share your thoughts with us!

I know my experience with the M7 (yes i know its an M8 forum but still somewhat relevant) is Yes, the carrier firmware was better.
I had a Stock TMO branded M7. I did the full conversion to make it a GPe unit. It was nice but i had some signal issues. It was better with the TMO radios but ultimately i put it back to stock TMO and for me i got the best results like that.

No I think the M7 experience is definitely still relevant!
Ok, you're the first one so far here to say that. So the radios change based on the firmware? Why is that? I mean, why would the radios be affected by the firmware? Seems to me it'd be better to leave the radios alone and let them remain how they came.
My previous OTA was from T-Mobile, but in order to get updated ViperOne M8, I had to get the firmware for 2.22 and T-Mo wasn't deploying it. They apparently just approved it on the 18th, but as u prob read above, I'm not even sure if they've deployed it, and what it contains. I seem to have as much signal quality as before. I just wish they'd have VoLTE deployed for the M8s. That would be great.
RockStar2005
I have been with T-Mobile less then 2 years. Prior to that i was with sprint over 10 years. I got most of my "radio" experience flashing different radios for the Samsung GS2.
That device was super finikey when it came to radios. I also found at the time that 3 different network vendors set up most of the CDMA network in the USA for Sprint. So for me having a specific radio work well meant that same one might not work so well up north. Samsung was also known to not have very good hardware / antennas (when i say radios i am referring to the firmware for the specific device.) So while my devices hardware stayed the same Samsung was making software tweaks during each revision of software.
But to keep it simple, Yes, different versions of radios can work differently in each device. Thats even with stock radios. Then if you add stuff like a GPe radio to a stock unit, or what i had with my M7 using a GPe ROM with a TMO radio. It always pains me to see people who post about using carrier A phone unlocked with carrier B network. Those people will never get the most out of their hardware network wise because carrier B has worked with the manufacturer to make sure their device is created to be specific to their network. Sure an unlocked will work but not at 100% efficiency. It could be a hardware limitation, could be some software that is baked into the ROM to make it work better, or even as simple as TMO baking in WiFi calling with their network.
I mean look what happened to the Note 3 for TMO. Originally it shipped with LTE not even enabled. The hardware was there then BAM, with an OTA LTE was enabled. Flash forward to the last few months, 2 separate updates for VoLTE. Those are radios updates that are specific to the hardware in the Note 3.
Hopefully someone else can chime in as well. Id hate to think im the only one.
Six,
No you explained that rather well! My cousin has the Note 3 so I know what u said about the last part (on VoLTE) is def true. I wish HTC would hurry the F up and give us M8 ppl VoLTE. Would be nice. And make it available everywhere, not just major cities (it's avail in Chicago, but I live 25-30 min away).
I have a buddy who works for U.S. Cellular corporate, and he said the same thing. Unlocked phones, esp ones sold by one carrier but used on another's network, don't work AS well as when the phone is made for your carrier's network. International phones at least I believe work fine if released OFFICIALLY in the U.S. (i.e., Sony's Xperia Z2, which is ONLY avail that way in the U.S.), because they've been tested on ALL carrier networks/bands, but that's diff than using say a Sprint phone on T-Mobile's network, I believe. (Or using a phone that wasn't approved for all the major U.S. carriers.)
So far you're the only who seems pro-carrier firmware/OTAs, but that's ok. That's why I started this thread, so I can get all sides of the story. But if you read the previous posts, the other posters make a compelling argument that's pro-noncarrier. It sounds like in my situation I'm fine, b/c I'm pretty sure the int't M8 was tested on T-Mo's bands already. The firmware would just go along with that same data, so I don't think I'm having any loss of quality. Now if I carrier-unlocked my phone and tried it on Sprint or Verizon, or even AT&T......... then I would expect a loss of quality at some level.
Thanks,
RockStar2005
Agreed. I see merits in both custom roms, stock roms, GPe Roms and Cyanogen.
Back in the GS2 days i was a big fan of using some of those custom ROMS guys would cook up. It fixed a lot of issues with Android.
But for ME, since 4.2.2 and up, i have been happy with stock ROMs.
In fact i almost always ran custom roms on my older devices and only recently started to leave them stock.
The last thing was when TMO gave me 3 GB free tethering, that was the last thing i might have rooted for.
My note 3 is stock, my M8 is still stock. and my back up M7 is stock (after putting GPe on it for a few weeks and testing stuff out).
I for one use my M8 as my daily phone and my Note 3 as my back up / game device.
For example, today at lunch i had local news streaming on my M8 while my Note 3 was tethered to my M8. On my Note 3 i was playing a few games while i waited for my food then answered a few emails and chatted with a friend on Hangouts.
With TMOs recent 4.4.3 update my M8 seems to run better then before and i feel im getting better battery life out of it.
Cant wait for my Note 3 to get 4.4.3 or 4.4.4. Also really looking forward to Android L on both of the units.
The way i look at it is what are YOUR pros and cons. LOL.

My "pros and cons" list involves having all pros and NO cons! lol
I think I'll prob just wait for the T-Mo OTAs from now on, but then again, b/c I have ViperOne, I won't know when they get deployed unless I constantly revert back to stock. Ughh! I guess so far I haven't really noticed a difference in signal and call quality since installing a non-carrier firmware, though it's only been like not even 2 weeks yet since I did it.
That's cool though that you're so happy with it. Perhaps your posts are an indication that T-Mobile has gotten better with their overall quality, and so that's something to look forward to for when I do go back to stock (whenever that is lol).
Thank You,
RockStar2005
Most people make a big deal about carrier OTAs. So you really dont need to revert back to check for them. As long as your active on the boards you will know when a device gets an OTA.
I failed to mention that part of why im happy with stock is because devices are now getting to the point where they are so fast that having bloat ware on them doesnt noticeably slow down the devices like they used to. At least i dont notice it. Pluse with 4.2.2 they allow you to "disable" most apps you dont want to use. So thats another plus.
Back in the day i used to root and do the custom ROM for extra battery life, or tethering, or to make the device snappier.
I honestly would have thought that someone else might have chimed in by now and added their 2 cents.

I honestly would have thought that someone else might have chimed in by now and added their 2 cents.

Six,
Yeah, that's true. Or I can check on T-Mobile's update site, though there may still be some delay b/c of how they deploy OTAs: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-10366
I've noticed that too, and before I got ViperOne and also Titanium Backup, I was disabling several apps too. Though I prefer to just uninstall them.

Six,
I talked to one of the ppl at Team Venom, and he said he has T-Mobile and recommends just taking T-Mobile's firmware updates for better cell reception. I'll do that from now on. But for now, if anyone is interested, I have here a link to the latest radio image file for the M8 (as of 8/27). Just download and "install flash" in TWRP.
And if you're rooted and want to get rid of the "red splash" screen during boot-up, try flashing the attached mod! :victory:

Thank You,

So... My question now.. I'm one of those buy vzw m8 take over to T-Mobile. I'm running viper 2.3. It runs great. But vzw never updated to newest firmware.so my question I guess is... Can I flash a T-Mobile radio or firmware to my vzw phone? I kinda know the answer, but I'd rather ask. So if I can.. that'll be great!

I know on the M7 that would brick the unit.
The CDMA and GSM units had different hardware and flashing any GSM ROM into a CDMA unit bricked them.
I want to say the same holds for the M8.
Can someone else confirm that for me?

Yeah thanks I kinda figured that, but you know it never hurts to ask, especially if it has the potential to maybe work out.

LG G4 H812 - Any way to get the FM Radio (RDS) to work?

I have done quite a bit of research and it seems like the FM Radio RDS is Disabled on all Canadian Versions of the LG G4. It's such a shame because I find this feature very nice and I use to use it all the time on the Sony Ericsson back in the day. I know the H815 version supports FM Radio, but the problem is it doesn't work on the AWS Frequency (Mobilicity and WIND, which I am on).
Just wondering if anyone has got the FM Radio to work on their LG G4 H12 version yet?
Now i'm not talking about TuneIn Radio or applications of that nature. Those applications use Data or WiFi.
Just to clarify, i'm talking about FM Radio using RDS. Which means when you plug in headphones/earbuds into the headphone jack, the phone uses the wire as a antenna and let's you listen to radio stations. Without having to rely on Data or Wifi. I know it's old school, but it's a feature that I would still put a lot of use into.
Anyways let me know guys. and thanks!
Probably not likely to happen. A lot of phones have it disabled in hardware (the connection just isn't there between the headphone jack and the FM chip (which is usually the same as the Bluetooth module).
Main phones available in Canada that have FM Radio support are the ASUS Zenfone 2, Moto X Play, and possibly some of the HTC phones (don't quote me on that last one - I haven't tried one in a while)

The H815(International Version) has the EXACT same hardware and frequency bands, so you can flash the H815 version onto your Canadian version (H812) and have all the stock LG apps and functionality.
SORRY GUYS THIS DOES NOT WORK UNLESS YOU UNLOCK THE BOOTLOADER. THE BOOTLOADER OF LG G4 H812 CANADIAN VERSION IS BY DEFAULT LOCKED SO YOU CANNOT FLASH ANY OTHER FIRMWARE. MY ADVICE FOR YOU IS TRADE IT FOR THE H815 EUROPEAN OR H811 T-MOBILE VARIANT IF YOU WANT THE FULL FEATURES. THANKS AND SORRY FOR NOT UPDATING THIS. I FEEL YOUR PAIN, I NOW HAVE THE H815 EUROPEAN VERSION AND IT HAS THE DEFAULT FM RADIO AND SMARTWORLD AND ALL THE ORIGINAL STOCK SOFTWARES. IT IS AMAZING LETS SIGN A PETITION TO LG TO GET YOUR BOOTLOADERS UNLOCKED THEN YOU CAN FLASH H815 ROM ONTO IT AND HAVE ALL THE DEFAULT APPS WORKING.
This is totally INACCURATE ...

If you follow this individuals proclamation you will brick your phone. The H812 has a locked bootloader and cannot be officially unlocked - if you follow it, it will prove harmful and costly to your mobile health. He has not bothered to correct this post, even though he now knows this to be true. If you want FM radio, you will need to get another phone, like he has since done.

Can someone confirm whether it is disabled at the hardware or software level? Thanks

I don't know but you can try the following to see if the radio works. This could prove if it's a hardware/software restriction.
1. Go to your dialler and enter: *#546368#*812#
2. Go to Device Test -> SAAT -> Service Menu - Manual Test -> FMRadio Test
3. With headphones plugged in, test if you can hear anything at all.

The H812 does not have the FMRadio Test in the Hidden menu, anywhere, whatsoever. If the hardware was there, the test for it would be there. Unlike member BAD_ASS, who doesn't own an H812 anymore (he has an H815 now) and wouldn't know without getting someone who does own one to find out, I do own one and am very familiar with it.
Member BAD_ASS has continued to try and denigrate the H812 by posts like his childish, immature large font #3 post above (not his first by any means) as well as members who have legitimately tried to help others. His sole reason for posting on threads concerning the H812 is to try (somewhat more subtly now in some cases) and show how how smart he is and was by lying to an unsuspecting dealer in Qatar that his H812 was a US model in order to gain an H815 for what he purports was no cost to him (his Mommy, however, may have something to say about this claim of his). He has had his posts cleaned at least twice for wasting space and has provided misleading, inaccurate and in more than one occasion very harmful (hard bricking) advice to many unsuspecting members. Just a few of the reasons he has had his account suspended twice by the moderators
Fair warning.

I see what you're onto, but you are still running the same software version. To get accurate results, we need to bypass the stock ROM.
I'd greatly appreciate if a H811 user with unlocked bootloader can flash the European H815 rom and see whether the FM Radio feature comes to life. Not sure if this has been done before, but if so, please do let me know. Thanks.
Supposing this works, we can try to flash H815 rom onto H812 with SteadfasterX's new method for devices with Locked bootloaders, like the H812.

Post #3 was just me warning everyone about that claim I made, which I now know could cause damage. It is in big bold red letters for emphasis. Yes it is true my mother bought me the H812 for my 16th birthday, and I didn't spend a single cent on it, true, but I had no idea my claims could be harmful back then, so please forgive.
Sorry for assuming this would work. But you cannot blame me for assuming, as you are doing the same thing with the FM Radio being disabled on the Hardware level. You are also making assumptions.
Also keep in mind, I don't have to give help and suggestions to you H812 owners. I have an H815 now and I can completely disregard your existence, but I have compassion and want to help you guys have the same experience as I do with my H815, so I give you suggestions and ideas that may or may not work. Unfortunately I cannot test any of these claims, as I don't have your device anymore. If I could test them, I would.
Guys i will assume this is just like the g3 in the end you can possibly get static i did on a att g3 but the antenna is not soldered and you will never get reception.
The hardware does not support it. And no u cant solder it yourself.

Hardware. Hense why it wont accept a headphone as being inserted. Its disable hardware and software. There is a part of the fm chip that isnt solderd its not possible to solder it. So the antennas arent grounded. If im not mistaken it lays in with the snapdragon.

This statement from the Spirit 2 app on Play Store (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fm.a2d.s2) would certainly support the notion that it is hardware dependent.
"! IMPOSSIBLE Devices: ALL Nexus & MANY Samsung & other devices have FM purposely & unfixably disabled in hardware. No app can EVER fix that."

Ok that is the case for Sprint. But there have been some people who have got it to work on other American carrier variants by installing a 3rd party radio app like NextRadio...

The LG G4 wireless chip is from Broadcom and has a closed-source driver. It is proprietary code. Carrier unlocking or rooting will not enable wireless FM on your phone and the Next Radio or Spirit FM apps will not work . As much as member BAD_ASS or any other member might like to think they can solve it, they can't unless LG makes it open-source or provides their private proprietary coded FM app to the carrier phone model and software version.

Best Note 7 ROM for Note 4 Sprint?

Hi Guys,
Can anyone recommend the most feature packed Note 7 ROM for my Note 4 Sprint carrier. I have Used Dr. Ketan Note 7 ROM. It's a very good ROM..
But the camera app isn't updated and after updating it doesn't work, the original Samsung keyboard doesn't work properly, there is no private mode in it & message app doesn't work either.
So looking for a Note 7 ROM that contains less bugs.
Thanks,
Asim
Ive been using Tx.dbs Ultimate Note 7 hybrid rom since it came out and have been completely happy with how it operates as a daily for me,everything pretty much works perfect for a note 7 rom on a note 4.:good:

If your using Sprint service, I agree with @JAMRZ69, the UN7 rom by tx_dbs_tx was made specifically for Sprint.
But feel free to try others to, as long as they have a sprint fix.
Also try to apply AlternateSmsMmsSendingFix_UN7_Hybrid_by.txdbstx to any of the roms you try, as it might help with sprint service. It's on his thread.
As far as private mode goes, i don't think any note7 ports have it. I could be wrong about this part though.
Thanks guys,
I will surely try this ROM and post my feedback.
BTW, is it just me or do you guys also feel that Sprint carrier phone has very less Custom ROMS compared to other variants..
Also lucky are those who have international variants because I've seen ROMs that have almost 0 bugs..

Yes, I can agree with that. I'm kinda lucky in that apect,as I'm unlocked using gsm service (cricket). So it's easier for me to get the other roms working.
To explain why, from what i understand as I'm not a sprint customer, but from what I've studied here. Sprint is one of the hardest carrier's to get working, as they have an extra layer of software to connect to their service, in a sense! Plus Also the predominant service, worldwide is GSM. So there are more GSM roms and it's easy to get a certain gsm rom to work with another gsm provider, and also it isnt super hard to get cdma roms to work with gsm. BUT it is difficult to get GSM roms to work with cdma, especially Sprint because of their setup.
Hope that gives you some insight! At least this is how i understand it!
Plus also, there were actually a lot of sprint roms, they're just older lollipop or not being further developed. This is because the device is aging and all the devs moved on to another device. That's why we must be grateful for the continued development of roms on this device from these great developers. Hopefully some young learning devs like me can keep it going. But I'm just am old dog learning new tricks!

Yes, how it usually works is, you install the rom, then you need to install a separate kernel for your device (in most cases they'll suggest the Ram kernel), Then you'll need a data fix. Which usually can be found, or you make one.
If you try a rom and have trouble, I can try to help you with making a fix. They're pretty simple for gsm service. What I've found out is, to stick with installing sprint kernel, but since we use gsm, you can use a tmobile data fix most of the time.

Omg, there are so many options. It's hard for me to say. I have a few post on Sprint section, giving my opinion, explaining some different roms. But it was just comparing newer Sprint roms. When you bring in the international thread, there's just so many options. And all of them are good. Its gonna come down to what works for you. Browse some of the current work going on, and try one. If you don't like after a trial run, try another. If anything, it'll give you xp flashing your device.
But just to name ones that I've actually had running, here's a list in no particular order:
Enhanced
Norma
Nemesis
Dr Keaton
Nameless
Auroa
Emotion
Resurrection
Lineage
Just off the top of my head. That's not counting the ones one the Sprint thread like, UN7 and Dtux.
Read, do some research, look at screenshots and pick one.
Once you pick one and if have trouble getting going with data fix. Let me know I'll try help!
Happy flashing!
Remember, it has to be a Snapdragon Rom.
im curious if anyone has found a nice rom to put on the N4, I just got a replacement the other day and im hoping to load something fun onto it. It came with marshmallow 6.0.1...
the last thing i had was UN5 running, im a little afraid to try UN7 knowing that development has stopped for it..
