Thing To Know
This app is brought to you Free by the mean of Ads, and to be fair with the user I will be explaining everything. There are two Ads company that I used in this app, banner by AdMob and Homescreen Icon by StartApp. Upon installing this app, you will recieve an icon on your homescreen, a browser bookmark and browser homepage. All these icons, bookmars and homepage can be deleted and changed back without a problem and it will never come back, all of this happen only once. The icons and bookmarks are useful for you to discover new apps, use it or not is absolutely up to you. This is just a way to provide this app for Free to you and keep me on developing this app and other new apps, I hope you can understand. This is not SPAM because I already being fair and told you everthing before hand. If your antivirus app tell you this is a virus, it is fault positive because the permission I use is just to add icon on your homescreen and browser bookmarks, if this app act anything like a virus you can complain to me via [email protected].

yes there will be a pro version.
If you use ICS to Jellybean, you can find all your saved pictures in the Pictures/Facebook folder.
After you exit the app, it will send request for the gallery to update its thumbnail for you and that take quite a while, after it is done you will see all your saved pic in the gallery
Thanks you for your support.

How to forward a contact ?

I am extremely frustrated that Google didn't improve this for ICS.
In my business we forward contacts to each other on a daily basis. Get new clients and have to share them with employees.
Anyways before the easiest way, was to text them. So let's says Mike needs Joe #, I would open text message to send Mike and click menu, and there should be an option to add contact, you scroll through your contacts list for Joe, click it and then it would attach to the text and be forwarded.
That was standard fair on my last five Android phones. But in ICS that option is not there. And here's the kicker, go into contact list of people, I thought OK we can forward from here. Nope. I click a contact name and the menu button and yes it does allow forwarding, but not to text only by Bluetooth and email.
Sire I know GO SMS does thus, but I like my ROM running pure stock no add ons.

This is something I would like to know aswell - I have just either been emailing or copy/pasting the phone number which is not ideal.
I have had it on all my other phones and never realised how much I would miss a small feature like this
personally i use barcode scanner to share contacts. It generates a QR code which then the other person can scan and add it to their contacts.
you are right about messaging being gone for sharing. very strange that they removed that.
Open your people app
Select the contact of choice and open it
Hit the setting button in the upper right hand of the screen and select share
Than you can email or text to someone else
Please hit the thanks button if I helped.

Galaxy S3 Apps that are not preinstalled

the Galaxy S3 does have a few apps that are not pre-installed, but available by choosing the "other services" icon in the app drawer. these apps go easily un-noticed, even though they are quite handy and a nice extra for us samsung users:
-KiesCast
Podcastmanager and downloader which lets you subscribe and listen/view audio & video podcasts
-Flipboard
Google Currents in polished e-Magizine reader for comsumption of personalized news you like and are interested in (even does fetch news from your twitter account)
-MyStory
let's you send digital poster cards to your friends (didn't try that one yet)
-S Baro
a barometer which shows you the current altitude of your phone
-MiniDiary
little diary tool which lets you take a picture, add a note on it, saves the date and geotag so after your vacation you have a neat litte album of photos and descriptions with photos... really nice
-Family Story
kind of a social network only for your family to share pics and stuff
-Photo Editor
lets you edit the photos you have taken.
give those apps a try... some of them are really nice
Would you be willing to upload those apps for non sg3 people?
Deebo took your bike too?!

What is S Baro btw? and where to get it from?
---------- Post added at 12:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:55 AM ----------
thanks. Got all the apps in Samsung Apps store
Guys can some one upload Photo Editor?
I don't have other services in my app drawer and couldn't find s-baro in samsung apps?
Likewise no Other services Icon.
Mini Diary and Fliboard both stock .
SAMSUNG APPS ICON is what is required to access these app downloads .
jje
I can find no s-baro in there, is the name correct? I tried just going through all the S's as there is not that many and did not find it.
S Baro
I also want to know what S Baro app is and where I can get it ... Please ;-)
I have the other services icon
and...
Baro is a barrometer. it seems that sgs3 has a digital barometer.this app gives you that reading, checks the weather forecast for where you are and gives you your altitude based on the forecast information. It's as harmless as it is useless. A barometer widget would have been better.
Kies cast looked really good on first inspection. as a long time google listen user I quite fancied the fresher ui. on a second inspection the ui is not as well organised, you have to long click and then press display to get to a particular podcasts info. in addition its got a samsung add banner flashing along the bottom. not good happy at all samsung.
not bothered looked at the others yet. anybody else care to pitch in?
---------- Post added at 07:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:41 PM ----------
and flipboard is great of course. seems lots faster than pulse and very intuitive interface

Guys
All these apps under Samsung More Services Apps
I found them under More Services.
I use the barometer feature on my G-shock watch a bit as has a graph that shows recent pressure history. If it drops rapidly in a short period, like an hour or so, itr means rain is likely. That is useful to me.
Of course, if you move around a bit or are in a car it will not be accurate. It uses gps positioning as well to work out your height but I am not sure how well this will integrate, as small height differences or errors can greatly effect the result.
Nevertheless it looks good and I will keep an eye on it compared to the G-shock, which in relative terms is pretty good at predicting rain.
I dont have the music hub

Polaris Office anyone?
Has anyone found the full Polaris Office app yet?
The bundled Polaris Viewer app displays a message on start-up stating that the full-blown Polaris Office can be found in 'More Services' on Samsung phones.
I've got Kies Cast and all the other apps mentioned on this thread from More Services but no Polaris Office

Remove Dropbox images from the gallery

Hey guys, I was wondering how to to stop Dropbox images from showing in the Gallery.
Im not sure if this is a Galaxy Note 2 feature or a Jelly Bean feature.
Thanks in advance.
Gallery > menu button > view by > content in device
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
Problem is I can't seem to make that selection stick. Next time I return to the gallery it reverts to showing all content.
Try creating a file in the dropbox folder titled ".nomedia" (no quotes, of course and you NEED the period). That should work for you

And work it did!
Not at first, though. I created the .nomedia file (in the PC's Dropbox root folder) and restarted the phone. Pictures were still there. So I went into settings / apps and started clearing data for Gallery, Multimedia storage and CloudAgent. That did the trick.
A big Thank You!
Important update:
There are a few settings I had overlooked. Under Settings / Personal / Cloud, the last two entries control synching images and/or videos. I had assumed these would prevent uploading images to Dropbox (they don't) but they work the other way around.

I went into Settings, Cloud, Disabled Pictures and Videos (both options at the bottom).
The thumbnails and cache and stuff were still on the phone in /storage/sdcard0/cloudagent . I cleaned the content of all those folders below. Next I opened the Gallery. Only local pictures and Facebook pictures there now. There is probably a setting for the Facebook pictures too... I check up on that (Yepp, there was. Settings, Facebook, Sync interval settings, Gallery Sync...).
I still prefer QuickPic over Gallery though...
Despite no Gallery Sync on my Facebook pictures it still loads them (it more or less becomes unresponsive during re-loading the Facebook pictures). It just checks them up during launch rather than through a regular sync. So, away Gallery goes for me (disabling it...since I wont use it anyway). If it can ignore my pictures on Facebook I might consider using it again.

Download the nomedia file from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?xqjjytzzznz
Unzip it and transfer the resulting .nomedia file to your phone. It's a hidden file (because the name starts with a period) so you have to enable "show hidden files" in your file manager to see it! Then just copy and paste that file into all folders you don't want gallery to index.

Uh man! totally missed the line where it says youre using the S3 and not the Note 2.
I assume the Cloud option is part of Jelly Bean 4.1 so we dont have it on the stock S3 yet.
You need to go to Accounts and sync under Settings and make sure your Dropbox account is not syncing (The 2 circling arrows are greyed out and not Green), then clean the Gallery data and cache again.
Btw, you should never give up on stuff that keeps annoying you

Takes a deep breath... okay thank you for the additional advice I will go and try again and see what happens and let you know many thanks by the way for your patience:fingers-crossed:
another problem of the cloud sync: it fills up internal memory really quick!
after 3 days my internal mem was down to about 600mb free, identified cloudagent
as the cause... it started to cache all my dropbox pics on my internal sd!

Heh.. Another good reason why I should keep it off..
I usually only have my emails, calendar and tasks set to auto sync. Less battery usage too I guess

Contacts+ - the best Android contacts app ever

Just thought I'd let you folks know about Contacts+ (previously called ContApps, I think), the contacts app I'm using on my stock N4.
It is totally packed with features (chiefly, integration with social networks, WhatsApp integration and smart ordering), looks absolutely lovely, and just elevates the Android experience when using a smartphone as, you know, a phone (which is something I feel that smartphones are getting less smart at doing..).
As an added bonus, it pimps out your SMS and call log appearance and functionality as well.
The team that build it are also really responsive and quite pleasant to interact with.
(I can't post links because I'm a few posts too short still, but it's easily enough found on the Play Store by searching for "Contacts+".)

Messages+ and Call Log+ are only if you want only those bits separately, otherwise they come bundled with Contacts+.
Play store link for the lazy: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.contapps.android&hl=en
Gonna try it out.
This looks great thanks :highfive:
Looks great THx for sharing

Will give it a try.. Using exDialer for a long time, and really like it.
How does the missed call work, so far, I have to go to the stock dialer app to clear the notification...
This app looks awesome, but I'm curious; would this have any negative affect the battery is a negative way at all?

It shouldn't...depends how you set up the notifications but I don't see any settings that would cause it to drain battery
I love the app so far...really integrated, wish the stock messaging app was like this but until it is I'll be sticking with contact+ . Nice find op.

Very good application. I'm using this one to search and manage my contacts. Trying to find more themes for it.
Anyone knows how to enable the described whatsapp integration?
I selected whatsapp as tool for the contacts but nothin happens...
I use CallApp Contacts, anyone else? Is this worth the change?
Thanks for the recommendation, it's absolutely beautiful! The integration is incredible, too! The beauty of Android
Love the app, and it's free! Can't ask for more

Hey,
There should be a Whatsapp button in the left sidebar (next to the Facebook, messaging, etc) whenever you open a contact that has Whatsapp as well.
If this doesn't work properly, check the FAQ question "Does Contacts+ integrate with Whatsapp" at: Contacts+ settings > FAQ.
Or send us an error report via Contacts+ settings > feedback > report an issue.
Thanks!

I sure think so, but I'm biased
Contacts+ had been downloaded over 1 million times, and has a 4.4 rating, so I'd say it's worth a try...
Please let us know what you like/dislike about it, we listen closely to our users, and we try to release new improved versions every 1-2 weeks.
A new version was just released yesterday with a couple of new features like a new screen showing your recent messages with a specific contact.
You can suggest new features or report problems in Contacts+ settings > feedback.
Thanks

New themes are coming soon... stay tuned for lots of new features as well!
Does this contact manager support adding multiple nicknames to 1 contact? I have 2 nicknames that I want to assign to 1 of my contacts but the stock app only allows 1 nickname to be assigned. I would gladly use this app if it had that feature. Also does it still sync with my gmail account/gmail contacts?
will try this on my sensation.
will it uninstall ok ?
How is this app free? Out of the goodness of your hearts? Are you exporting the contact data anywhere?

I'd be interested to hear what Contacts+ have to say about that too.
That said, GoSMS, GoContacts are free as are millions of others. Just because something is free, doesn't necessarily mean they are harvesting data.
Contacts+ is nice, however it is constantly the highest battery drain on my phone, even above Screen.

HONOR 7 * EMUI 4.1 * Android Marshmallow * CONTACTS APP MISSING & NICE FEATURES*

The Honor 7 is a fantastic phone, but the contact management app is missing some features:
1. Manual Merge of the contacts. Even if has auto merge, this function doesn't catch all the duplicates, this is normal, but at that point should allow a fast merge or link of contacts.
2. Picture Sync. Management. There is a way to import pictures.... but some times take Skype, some times Whatsapp, some times facebook, there is not direct control.
3. General Layout Graphics Control. While for the other apps of contacts managemet you can see division by letter, the Huawei-Honor Emui lay-out is not separate, and letters and really small in the side.
I see these features are missing also in the last Huawei P9, I hope we can get an update with these ones.
The best ones:
1. Show the area where you dialed. Very useful when you have contacts that have phones in 2 different cities.
2. Lost calls in red
3. Possibility to call with any one of the linked apps from the contact list.
I think this apply to all EMUI 4 and EMUI 4.1 phones
Vote your missing and best features of contacts app
Aside from what you mentioned, nothing else

There's a dialer app directly from the pixel phone (since they're system images we're leaked).
Plus they ported google assistant
