Please help with my galaxy note 2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi to all,
I bought my note three weeks ago, unlocked, GT-N7100, no warranty.
Yesterday suddenly restarted entering in boot loop. At first i thought i had pressed power button wrongly because i had it on hand, but after some time i saw the Samsung galaxy note II logo flash every 5-10 sec. I'm new on android and i panicked. I've been using idevices for years and always managed to handle every similar situation happened to me. I liked this phone in its original state so never tried to root it. The phone it's in stock ROM, (Jelly been 4.1.1) never restored, or updated. I haven't installed anything the last two days. Never had a problem till now, worked great.
I've been reading since yesterday in the forum the similar threats with problems as mine, tried a lot of times to enter on recovery mode with the vol+, home, power button and couldn't do that even once. I tried to enter in download mode with vol-, home, power button and i see the warning screen but when i press vol+ to enter on download mode the screen turns black and the note II logo reappears......
Tried to remove, put the battery again, no changes. The phone isn't recognized from Pc, Odin, Kies, Note 2 ToolKit. Rechecked the samsung drivers also. Please help me.

Is there anybody that can help me ?
Thanks in advance

If you can't enter into download mode ( vol- + home + power ) or recovery - i think usb jig and service center might be the only option.
Why is your phone without warranty ? Where did you buy it ?

I am afraid my friend tgat your phone got the sudden death syndrome.
You would have skipped this if you had updated to 4.1.2 which supposedly fixes the issue. You have to take it to your local Samsung service center.

It is a combination of hardware and software. Nand chip fails due to corruption by badly written firmware.
Why no warranty? I have heard that N7100 and all samsung phones plagued by this are immediately swaped.

Sounds like SDS. I don't think there's much you can do from your end sorry. Need to get it replaced or fixed at the service center. It's worth a try if you can go to the actual Samsung service center and not a retailer and check to see if they will replace it for you.

I agree, the warranty is usually provided by Samsung, not the retailer. You may need to print out your purchase invoice to prove you got the phone legit, though.

Thanks for replying guys.
I tried to contact the seller but he hasn't reply to me yet. I tried to contact samsung but they say to contact them in the country i bought it. I bought it from a usa seller, but samsung usa can't help because the model isn't in their database, because its GT-N7100 model. I'm confused to what samsung center to go now?
Can someone tell me what country was my phone destined?

[Q] Samsung Galaxy s iii power button does nothing

Help! I have been unable to find any posts on this topic here or elsewhere.
I have a rooted Samsung Galaxy S3 AT&T running CyanogenMod 10.1 rc 2. This release has been running well. In the course of trying to update, when I rebooted into recovery (I have used both TWRP 2.5 and ClockworkMod 6) the phone powered down and would not reboot. Pressing and holding the power button (with or without volume up/down or home) for an extended period of time did absolutely nothing. Nor did pulling the battery, which had 80%+ charge.
All threads I have seen describe situations where powering-on starts the boot process but the boot process won't finish. In this case, pressing and holding power does absolutely nothing.
The last thing I did was run EZ-Unlock-11.apk, which first reported that the bootloader lock status was undetermined, but then reported it as being unlocked after I pressed unlock. This probably wasn't necessary as I would imagine the bootloader had to have been unlocked for me to have flashed CyanogenMod 10.1 in the first place.
Connecting the phone to a computer via USB doesn't do anything either. The computer does not see the phone (naturally), though this too worked fine before this happened.
Any ideas?
P.S. Additional information: with the phone plugged into a charger, the LED's do not light.
Looks like you just experienced the sudden death syndrome, unfortunately. Probably the EMMC failed and the device is bricked. If you are under warranty, see if you can get a replacement.

Thanks... I checked the linked articles and (1) this syndrome is reported only in the non-U.S. device; and (2) it's reported to have been fixed with a Samsung firmware update and there's a patch that requires stock. Can this happen with CyanogenMod running?

So you're running the AT&T variant...It looks like the EZ-Unlock apk you mentioned is for the Verizon version. Running that and having it unlock a bootloader that didn't need it might have bricked it.

+1 this is the reason its bricked.
ATT S3 doesn't come with a locked bootloader and has a different partition to bootloader/recovery then Verizons S3.
After you ran that app you applied something where it wasn't supposed to go and completely bricked your device.
This is why its recommended to read and research before rooting/modding and installing custom apps/firmware.
I'm sorry to say but your phone is a paperweight.

[Q] Note-II N7100 Power Button

Hi,
My Note-II has some issues with the power button, most probably something with the power chip.
The Technicians say that repairing it might leave the phone useless.
I was OK with that as I was using a widget to put the phone to sleep and using some battery removal tweaks to start it if it was switched off.
The problem now is that my phone is still on 4.1.2 I am in Oman my friends having the same model and build got the update but I haven't received it yet so thought I would upgrade manually via Odin or maybe Root it.
Is there any way I could put the phone in Recovery Mode without using the power button????
Please suggest a work around.
TIA

Strange question lol...
If you are rooted you can use quick reboot app to boot into recovery...
Not an issue..
And prefer rooting and updating Cz official updates give you knox.. And thats what most of the people dont want...

Yes I know it's a strange situation.
No I'm not rooted.
I want to enter recovery to either root the phone or just update it.
But as the power button is messed up so I can't do any of the above by the normal method.
I need to know if there is any other method to enter the recovery...

put it in download mode and flash the stock rom from sammobile with odin.
you can do 2 things
1. factory reset by turning off your phone and holding home button and lock button and volume up and release the lock button when it shows note 3 neo and keep pressing the other 2 keys It Will bring you to stock recovery navigate by volume up down and lock to confirm go to factory reset and press yes if it doesn't boot up then
2. put in downlaod mod turn off your phone and press home lock volume down and then confirm press volume up
download the official firmware from sammobile and download Odin run as administrator and press pda and navigate to the firmware you downloaded and connect your phone to your pc via USB and press start
hope I helped you

same here bro when i soft bricked my phone i went to samsung service centre as i didnt felt like downloading 1 gb,they told me too that motherboard will be replaced for INR 7k and flashing stock rom will not work...I said to them just goto download mode and flash the stock rom....they were a bit amazed by my knowledge about odin and flashing, etc and went on to flash it....everything got fixed and they were left red faced......
Hey next time when you brick your phone just try flashing root file with odin (simple rooting procedure) this works for me all the time when i brick my phone and saves my time and data too.
Keep calm and stay rooted

[Q] Note II doesn't start, bricked, doesn't go on recovery or download mode

Hi
I'm Spanish so please forgive my bad English.
I have a Note II from my father and I don't know what happens.
He had the phone turned off (I suppose it was because the battery ran out) so he charged it. When he came back, there was this black battery with the circle, but the circle that normally is spinning it wasn't.
I've tried to turn on the phone but it doesn't work, it doesn't matter if the phone is charging or not. I've also tried to boot on recovery mode (VolumeUp+Home+Power) but this does not work! Again! When I tried to boot on download mode (VolumeDown+Home+Power), it appeared this message: "Warning! A custom OS can cause critical problems in phone and installed applications. If you want to download a custom OS, press de volume up key. Otherwise, press the volume down key to cancel." I pressed the volume down cause I didn't know what to do.
If I connect the phone to the computer, it's not recognized, even with Kies. This morning my father has been using the phone, so whatever has happened suddenly, when he ran out of battery, probably.
The phone is not rooted and it has not any ROM or nothing. I think my father has not even upgraded the Android version from the 4.1 it came. Another point is that the Note II baterry supplies 3.8V but I've measured this and it supplies 3.2V. I've also tried with differents chargers but it does not work either.
Can someone help me? Thank you in advance
Can someone help me please!?
Don't be afraid of the message about the custom firmware. Press the volume key.
Also download ODIN and the firmware which you was on before the crash. 4.1 or 4.3. And I guess if your phone don't boot you have to reflash. No tengas miedo i tranquilo.
Edit : press the volume up , then connect to your pc and use KIES emergency recovery or something like that. So KIES can fix your phone. But be careful it might install you the newest software. Maybe 4.4.2 with Knox! !!

Thanks, but the thing is, now I can't get to the download or the recovery mode!! Now the only thing the phone does is, when connected, show the battery with the stopped circle.
Ok, thank you, finally I've sent the phone to the technical service

Question A52s random “Can’t load Android system.” when rebooting

Hi all,
I am encountering this strange bug randomly: sometimes the device Is rebooting itself and it goes automatically in recovery mode, sometimes after a reboot it does the same. The error is always: Can’t load Android system. clicking on “try again” solves the issue (sometimes at the first retry, sometimes after some retries).
I’m attaching the error screens, also because the error message is not every time the same (Attaching also a normal way to enter recovery).
Has someone encounter this bug?
Any hints on how to solve this? I haven’t already do a full reset of the phone, but i think it wilL be the next step I’ll do if the phone is continuing like this.
Thanks!
Hi Arobase40, thanks for your answer.
Yes i know that this things could happen if you do some strange things to the phone (and in my past i was used to that ) but in this case, all is pure and untouched, no unathourized apk and no modding at all. (My use is quite noob-ish now eheh)
And that's seems very strange! :/ I made only ota update and this happened both with android 11 and 12.
Arobase40 said:
This mostly happens when you did some tricky things on your phone. lol
If full reset is not enough (specially when the system is missing....) you'd have to restock it with an official Samsung firmware... ^^

Well ok, in your case try to flash back a stock firmware from Samsung with Frija or Samfw (don't forget to supply the correct model and CSC) using PC Odin.
If that don't fix the problem then get in touch with your local Samsung website and you should find a phone number for the after sale service and they will give you the nearest Samsung official repair center from your home.
They should fix this issue very quickly using most probably the same tool which is PC Odin.
If you go to the repair center don't forget to backup all your apps and data, remove your scard if you have one and also your sim card...

Thanks for your help and explanations.
Just to be updated and make some laugh: today the phone while was charging has become completely unresponsive, showing "Samsung Galaxy" on a black screen when touching Power Button or connecting to Power. After a while (hard pressing Power Button and Power+vol up) it restart itself and works again. Never had such an experience with a phone (a COMPLETELY stock phone)

Idk, seems like a hardware issue to me. Try and have a go at where you've bought it and have them check it over.
My first thought too is hardware.
A few years ago I had something similar with a different phone (Moto G) - as a last ditch effort I popped out the SIM and SD cards and reseated them and it worked perfectly after that. If you have an SD card you might even want to leave it out a few days just to see.
Not saying this is your issue but couldn't hurt to try!
