Increase SMS box size in touchflo ?

Along my travels of reading thousands of posts in hundreds of threads I seem to remember reading about a tip to increase the viewable box size of SMS messages in touchflo.
Ive tried searching using all the keywords I can think of but have come up blank. I cant remeber if it was even in the Blackstone section.
Im using mun_rus's SMS zoom tool and if I get a large text message I cant always see it all.
Can anyone help please ?

U are using mine mod for diamond) Coz of bigger screen resolution u getting cut bottom I'll make such mod for HD also
Yep, your mod works good but as you said it cuts the bottom off.
Is it possible to make it remeber the zoom settings so they stick?
Also gona use your Background4alltabs if/when you fix it to work with analogue clocks (Cant give up my big Xperia clock).
In the \Windows folder, edit the file thread_sms.htm.
Look for a line that has the text Height=35. The 35 represents a height of 35 pixels.
You can increase the number as you like. For have three line the right value is 75.
how can you edit the thread_sms.htm file? I found it but doesnt give me the option to edit!
I tried looking for it connected through my laptop but Windows folder is hidden and no matter what I do i cant seem to find it!
copy to sd with your mobile file explorer, edit from sd with windows , copy it back
yea tried that but it wont let me copy it back to the Windows folder!
the file in the Windows folder wont allow me to delete it either! hmmmm
Ive copied it to the SD card and my laptop and unless Im blind there appears to be nothing in it.
The file size is 851 Bytes. Is that right ?
yea thats the file... i copied it onto my desktop, changed the file to open with Notepad and changed the height value to 75.
saved it, changed it back to open with IE then copied it back to SD then tried to replace the file with the existing one... but it wont allow me!
Same problem here, tried all ways. Installed Resco Explorer to get the result. SMS is now much more friendly, thanks for the tip lucarp78.
Hell yeah! Thanks for the tip, exactly what I wanted.
Tip: Use Total Commander and edit the file from the mobile!

When I copy it to my SD card with TC and open it, it opens in Opera and all I can see is a black bar across the top.
How did you edit it on your phone please?
What program did you use to edit it?
Thanks
The easiest way is to use Total Commander. Select properties for the file and remove the Read-Only check. Then edit the file as mentioned earlier and save it. Set the Read-Only property again and reset.
If you want to copy the file to your PC and edit it there, remember to remove the Read-Only property before you copy it back again (either using explorer, Resco Explorer or TotalCommander) otherwise you are not allowed to overwrite it. Hope this help.
Is there any chance someone would be kind enough to put up a copy of the thread-sms.htm file or cut & paste the contents in a thread.
I dont know how but Ive manage to mess mine up royally.
Thanks

I said I used Total Commander. Google it and download. Then look up where the file is in your windowsfolderand. Then you should manage the rest.

I have Total Comander already installed. When I asked how did you edit it, I mean what program as it opens auomatically with Opera and shows nothing. I managed to get it open once in Notes and edit the line but that didnt seem to work.
I went back to the windows folder and now it comes up with an error. When I look at the file on my works pc there is only about the first 6/7 lines in the file?

The clear up any confusion (because the previous guys who have posted haven't exactly been clear!)... if you simply "open" the file... by clicking or double clicking it... then it will simply "open" in a program designed to open that type of file.
As the file you're trying to edit is a webpage (.htm) then it will "open" in a program designed to "display" webpages... like Opera or IE!
You don't need to "open" the file.... you need to "edit" it.
In Total Commander, click the file once to highlight it, and then select "File" > "Edit" from the bottom menu of Total Commander.

If you've messed up your file... may I suggest you delete it from the Windows folder (using Total Commander).
It will look like it's doing something, but then the file will still be there... as when you delete a file that is originally stored in the ROM, it gets immediately replaced with the original from the ROM!
Then copy the file to your My Documents folder, click it to highlight it, click "File" > "Properties" from the bottom menu of Total Commander, and untick the "Read Only" attribute & click OK.
Edit as above, and click "File" > "Save".
Copy that file back to the Windows directory by clicking "File" > "Copy/Move", click "Tree", highlight "Windows", click "OK", click "Copy"... click "Overwrite" if prompted!
Thanks Sidepa, thats exactly what I wanted to know. Im still getting to grips with TC but its thanks to the help of this community im slowly learning.
After all that though, it still hasnt solved the problem of increasing the text box size. It may be a manilla file that needs editing in mode9 maybe. Hopefully mun_rus will come up with something as hes gona look at getting his diamond app to work on the HD.
Works for me in all input modes. Here is the modified file. Keep a copy of your original for safety then overwrite with this one.

How to remove icon in program screen.

I installed a program called feather weather on my HD. It didn't install correctly so I reinstalled it.
Both times, it didn't work so I uninstalled it using "Remove Programs" in settings.
The problem is, it didn't remove the icons (there are two of them... the original one I installed and a copy)
I used a registry cleaner to no avail and went line by line through my registry editor but can't find anywhere anything about feather weather.
Where would I find the icons for them?
Thanks,
Mark

Just to expand upon dreshah's post, use File Explorer to access those folders and just delete the .ico files.
Thanks guys.... I didn't know where the icon files were kept. Now I feel stupid.

Mail attachments saved as .att???

Hey guys,
I got a picture on my email account (gmail) and when I click on the attachment I can only see it, I can't save it.
I tried to get to the attachments directory with file explorer but attachments are saved as .att and I couldn't change the extension of the file (without copying to to a laptop, changing extension and getting it back on the device).
It's really basic requirement, when I get a doc or a picture and I wish you keep them on the device, I'd like the attachment to have the original file name and extension for easy opening on the device.
Any advice?
Thanks in advance
Tap & hold on the attachment and then tap "Save as" in the context menu that pops up.

Remove "Today" from WM6.5 start menu

When pressing the start menu you obviously get a list of the shortcuts in the \windows\start menu\programs folder. However, where in the heck is the "Today" link coming from that seems to only close the start menu? I want that puppy gone Registry? I don't know where to even start looking there
Not sure how to get it gone but I think if you tap-N-hold you can send it to the bottom

I would like to remove it also. Completely useless when you have a home key.
have u tried going to /windows/startmenu looking for this icon with file explorer and choosing "read only" and "hidden" under properties?
Try going to HKLM\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start and deleting the Today group of registry keys. Don't forget to soft reset.

Huh, I think it's impossible, but you can try to use one of the SPB softwares to make your Today screen more like your Start Menu

well i did look with the "show all files" checked. not sure what else you mean
ok found a work around use hcomber to change the icon to a transparent png LMAO. I know i know, not ideal but if you move it to the bottom of the start menu and make it invisible well.... out of sight out of mind. This isn't solved obviously, but its a start.
Hi Mallman
This is my workaround: there's more icons than the home that I don't want to see, so I added a folder in the start menu and I moved all of them to this folder I called Unused.
This way I don't remove or tamper with icons that I might need later, and I have a smaller menu.
By the way I didn't test the possibility to make this folder hidden, here's another possibility if you want to explore it...
Has a fix for this ever been found or is this a dead thread?
I know how to do it but my instructions are at home. it involve's opening the shellres file with reshack and overwriting the words start with blank spaces.. i'll be back tnight with those instructions for you.

I would try to extract the MMS.apk from the system dump from the US G Pro and swap them out in /system/apps. Just be sure to keep the old one, just in case something doesn't play nicely. Change the file name of the stock one to Mms.bak and then paste in the new one and set permissions at RW, R, R. After a reboot you *should* be good to go.

Download the factory image from here and then unzip using something like 7-zip. Navigate through to /system /app and copy Mms.apk to your memory card. Then on your phone using a Root level file explorer (I like Root Browser) copy the .apk that you put on your memory card and copy that. Then navigate to /system /app and long press on Mms.apk to rename it to Mms.bak. Then paste in the .apk that you copied. Then long press on that file, select Permissions, and check off the following boxes Owner: Read and Write, Group: Read, Others: Read. Then after a reboot you should be good to go.

Thanks again for this. Will try over the weekend.
Two quick questions:
1. Would it be easier to flash the english ROM?
2. On the status bar rather than displaying my network provider (Vidafone Ireland) it displays a white globe. I know it can display the network provider. How can I get that done?
Many thanks for your help again

I'm not super familiar with 7-Zip, but there may be a way to navigate through the Factory Image that you downloaded without unzipping it. If that's the case you can just find your way to /system /app and extract just the MMS.apk.

My G pro is AME version E988 my SMS have 160 character +attachment+ Smiley ,If u want to use it i can upload my MMS.apk for u.
i installed handcent sms on my f240L and its limit increased automatically. i can send sms up to like 250 chars
A Fix
install GO SMS Pro,
go to GO SMS Pro settings --> Advanced --> Send&Receive Settings --> scroll down --> select Split large messages check box --> scroll down --> Select Enable customized SMSC --> Customized SMSC number --> enter your service providers SMSC number.
you can find SMSC numbers for operators in the following link
http://www.ozeki.hu/index.phtml?ow_page_number=458
I got the solution. Was able to fix it thinering on each line. Now sms can send more than 160 characters per page.

For everyone facing the sms problem with character length limitation to "80" or failing to send a concatenated sms message which converts to mms automatically do the following steps
1. Find the file featureset.xml in system/etc and open in text editor (Need root access then use root explorer for example)
2. Change the following values
Find
true
change to
false

Find
80
change to
160

Find
160
change to
1384

3. Save and close then reboot
now you need to install GO SMS Pro Premium v5.33 (find and download this app in the attachment) with this app all your sms worries will be over and your F240 models start behaving like any other sms sending smart cell.
