[INFO][HOWTO][ROOT] Motochopper by Dan Rosenberg - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4

Note: The UVUAMDL update includes Samsung's silly root-restricting kernel. You'll need to downgrade it or use a custom one to avoid that.
All you need to know, folks. To get the dev options menu, and enable USB Debugging, tap the build number in About Phone until it tells you it's been enabled. You'll need the drivers. Unlike on AT&T devices, we do have a return to stock option, though it is not "virgin" as a Samsung-sourced TAR would be.
djrbliss said:
A recent root exploit I published for Motorola devices, Motochopper, should do the trick for rooting the Qualcomm-based variants of the Samsung Galaxy S4, including the AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile branded models.
Download the exploit here:
http://vulnfactory.org/public/motochopper.zip
Instructions:
Extract the entire contents of the zip file.
If you are using Windows, ensure you have installed the latest Samsung USB drivers available for your phone.
Ensure USB Debugging mode is enabled on your device.
Connect your device to your PC via USB.
If you are using Windows, navigate to the extracted directory and execute "run.bat". If you are using Linux or OS X, navigate to the extracted directory in a terminal and execute "./run.sh".
Approve the ADB connection from your PC on your device.
Warning:
At this point, since there are no custom recoveries or stock images available, it may not be possible to repair your device should you accidentally break it. Please be aware of this before performing any modifications to your phone.
As always, future OTA updates may remove the ability to regain root access, so proceed with caution when updating. Enjoy!

It worked perfectly! Thanks.

My run.bat stops at * daemon started successfully *.
usb debugging is enabled and galaxy s 4 drivers are installed.
Any idea what the problem might be?
Nevermind. I've downloaded the Galaxy S 4G drivers. However I can't find the S4 drivers for my T-Mobile version on samsung's website. Does anyone have direct link?

(guide) how to root generic tablets with ics 4.0.4 (a13)

So today we see many tablets that are very cheap and the price starts from 100 dollars and even less.
Many consumers buy them and are happy with the stock setting but some of us want to get the most of the device and we now how we call this-------exactly ROOTING
But there we get this problems like:
Who is the manufacturer?
Why there is no information about the device?
Why ADB dont work?
and so on.......
My Father picked up a EXPLORE X770 like you can see on the pictures and the specs too ( ist a A13 device ) and cost 80 euros......he buyed it as a christmas present for my mother
Its quite fast but even my mother asked me the first minutes of use: Hey can you root it?

Download PDAnet (ADB drivers for tablets - how to install is described in the LInk); http://www.topnotchtablets.com/installADBdriver
Enable UNKNOWN SOURCES and Connect your tab in USB DEBUGGING mode, then run runme.bat file from the package.
Sit back read the on screen instructions
The device will reboot a couple of times
When the script finishes it will say "ALL DONE" Your tablet is rooted.

THIS IS FOR (ROOT ONLY) ALLWINNER (A13) TWD_MID 2G TABLET w/ ICS 4.0.4
I never could find firmware from AllWinner (hopefully it's OK to provide their site: allwinner & allwinnertech dot com), never could find usb driver(s) & never could get the tablet or my pc to recognize each other (nothing here worked). Frustration & ignorance made me wonder why you have to have a pc to root an android device. I still don't have that understanding. What I DO have is an .apk that successfully rooted this tablet - here's the what & how:
1) dl these on the tablet: "framaroot 1.5.1" (available here courtesy of Alephzain - THANK YOU), a file manager if you don't have one (I have ASTRO), and "Root Checker" (free, google play store)
2) pre-root tablet settings: settings>dev options> enable USBdebugging
settings>security> enable unknown sources
3) run framaroot - in a blink it's done. run root checker to verify. go back into settings & uncheck usbdebug & unkn sources
There wasn't much to rooting this device - I wanted to practice on something before attempting anything exotic on my LG MS910 (MetroPCS).
This tablet already has ICS & I won't be too surprised if there never is a JB ROM that works 100% (I keep reading about touchscreen issues) but I'm learning & little successes like this are motivating.
Allwinner a13 rom
Hi thanks for your post but I have a different problem. After spending my time on googling I managed to confim the model chipset. However my tablet is stuck in bootloop and I am unable to get into recovery mode. Is there any software like restore binary for MMX canvas where you can flash rom while tab is turned off. I just want to install a recovery and turn on the tablet.
Nice job works with trio stealth g2 7inch tab

Rockchip RK3168 and RK3188 Root Method Working!

Bought a Certified 7" MID-73005 tablet with an RK3168 chip inside.
I could not find a root method... I couldnt even find the right USB drivers.
Found the method for the RK3188, which is the quad core variant of the 3168.
Tried it, and it works perfectly! Rooted baby!

Just thought others might like to know, seeing as these chips are still fairly new and not much out on them yet.

When you ran the root script on your PC did those come up as 0/root? If so you should have pressed the space bar to continue. That would have been the first reboot if I remember correctly. Then it does a second script with same as far as uid=0(root) gid=0(root) then continue by pressing space bar...2nd reboot. Then 3rd script same as above uid...gid, space bar, 3rd reboot...then you should be rooted. Make sure tablet is on and USB debugging is checked before you start and you have the device driver installed.
Basically it is asking you if you see uid=0(root) gid=0(root) after it runs each script. If so continue.

Thanks. It worked perfectly for my Cube.
I only saw "uid=0(root) gid=0(root)" before the last reboot. I almost didn't realize it was there. I believe it was in the line just above the question about it being there. The first 2 reboots just told me wait until the OS loaded then press any key (spacebar) to reboot. After the last reboot, I ran an app Root Checker and it worked. Thanks again.

This is a community port of Jolla's SailfishOS for the Galaxy Nexus.
It features a gesture-based user interface with a unique design and ease-of-use in mind.
For more information about SailfishOS please head over to sailfishos.org.
This is not an Android ROM, this is a different operating system.
It only uses parts of Android for hardware enablement (drivers).
Special Thanks to vakkov, sledges, mugna91, the Mer Project, the Nemo Project and all the fine people over at #sailfishos-porters
Release Notes:
This release is based on SailfishOS 1.0.8.19 (Tahkalampi).
The Galaxy Nexus port is considered to be of alpha quality.
Though depending on your usage it might be stabile enough for daily use.
Bug reports:
Please issue bugreports at the Nemo Project Bugzilla.
Known issues:
Due to an issue with ofono, reading from SIM does not work. You'll need to remove your PIN lock before flashing.
Setting an ambiance (color theme & wallpaper) causes hangs. Either needs the battery to be pulled, or you can SSH into the device and run:
systemctl --user restart lipstick
The startup wizard is getting skipped for now, due to the issue above.
The Jolla Store currently does not work. As an alternative you can try Warehouse for OpenRepos.
The camera does not work.
Due to redistribution issues the codec for MP3 can't shipped. To enable the codec run the following command:
devel-su zypper in gst-av

Nice & interesting..
Awesome! I'd love to check this out, as I've been following the progress in the other thread! (And because I'd actually like to check sailfish out, I never experienced Maemo and Meego so this will be an entirely new experience). However the XDA download link is unbelievably slow (Topping out at like 30 KB/s maximum on a decent internet connection). Does anyone have a download link from a service such as Google Drive/Mega/AFH? I'd be extremely thankful if someone did have a mirror, and would return the favour by uploading it. (If the OP allows for mirrors).

As mentioned, the "Alpha" tag is pretty much justified. Thank you for testing.
Also, the "untrusted software" switch is pretty useless and installing 3rd party applications
is supposed to be done through the command line for now.

You need to install it through the terminal, I'm not sure what the command is to install rpms of the top of my head, so googling it would probably get you an answer.

I assume you'd need to elevate to root using devel-su, and then use one of the commands I've quoted below to install the warehouse rpm.
From terminal, root
Install a package
rpm –ivh packagename
upgrade a package
rpm –Uvh packagename
you can find out what the switches mean by doing a rpm --help from the command line.

I think -ivh would indicate installation and -uvh being the uninstall process

Post 1 - Information
Post 2 - Downloads and Release / Change Information
Post 3 - Bugs, Future Additions to the GUI, FAQ
PLEASE READ THE PARAGRAPH BELOW THIS LINE
It's been a few years since I made a toolkit. Since my last toolkit that I released, which was the M8, I had surgery done, graduated college and went through a ton in life. I haven't been in the Android scene in years. As much as I would have loved to, life has been hectic. I announced that I was going to release a toolkit for the HTC 10. It's been a few months since that announcement but here it is. I'm pretty sure there is quite a few kinks and bugs I'll need to fix, but I spent a lot of time on it and my eyes are tired at looking at all my code. Trying to remember how to code/script was hard enough as is, but it's definitely worth it for you guys. So to announce my software, I would like to present my toolkit for the HTC 10!
If this helped you out, Please press the thanks button and if you want, you can always donate!

FAQs
Q - Why Did you make this?
A - To make life easier
Q - You are limited on features. Why?
A- You can always make a request!
Q - Will this work on other devices?
A - Only the fastboot commands, HTC Dev unlock (device specific) and the HTC drivers. Toolkit is made for the specific device.
Q - My Anti-Virus says your program is a virus. Is it a really a virus?
A - No. It's a false-positive! My reputation on here shows otherwise. Here's some more info if you are skeptical.
https://www.autoitscript.com/wiki/AutoIt_and_Malware
Q - Will you support more devices in the future?
A - If people REALLY want, I can make it happen. I just don't want to make anything that nobody would use.
Q - Awesome! Can I make a donation?
A - Of course! Do not feel obligated though. If you would like to make a donation, you can click the button on my toolkit or under my username.
Any feedback is always nice!

My phone has unlocked bootloader, still S-ON, used the tool kit to flash TWRP.
Everything run successfully but the phone can not enter Recovery to run backup. It just restart the phone normally.

Were you trying to reboot into recovery through the toolkit? If so, I'll test the command when I'm back home and look at the script. Have you tried doing so manually?

I figured by now most people would realize how dangerous toolkits are, and would have stopped using them.
It's much safer to not use a toolkit, and you learn a lot more by learning, and performing the commands yourself.
Why would you have an S-ON command so close to a GETVAR command? Just something someone will accidentally click.
I've see many people come to IRC asking for help, saying "I didn't do anything to set my S-ON, all I did was use a toolkit."

I agree in part.
Yes, you learn a lot more by studying and asking how to type the commands yourself, but I see this toolkit (hasoon's is the only one I've used) as a way to begin with all this. I mean, you have to start somewhere and this is a valid way of doing it. You click some buttons, follow the instructions and if you are careful you can be sure you won't mess anything up.
That's how I started learning until I was able to do things myself. I don't have s-off because I don't know enough to be 100% sure I won't kill my phone, so I prefer doing some things (flashing kernels) from fastboot instead of recovery and not experimenting with different radios and such.
In short, you have some very valid points, but people has to start somewhere and this one is too a good way of doing so.

File ok?
Can anybody tell me that the file is ok? thats the original file of the All-in-one Toolkit V1.0 downloaded today fom the original source...
Hello I can't download the toolkit. Every time it's taking me to download some chrome addons. Seems very fishy.
The file in the previous post also seems not legit. Toolkit is supposed to be 40 MB, this file is about 1MB...smells of viruses to me.

How to recover your device after flashing incorrect DDR xbl images

No matter how you are experienced or skilled in flashing ROM's, the things sometimes just happens. And you are here now...
Even I was aware which DDR model was my device, yes.. I did it - flashed by mistake DDR4 xbl.img to my DDR5 noodlep.
Of'coz, I wasn't that happy when I achieved it. Many googling, many searches - nothing. The only option was to return to OnePlus for repair.
But; there is a way. The idea came from Tom Marshall ( @tdm ) - he said that I can try to force "deep flash method" using EDL CABLE.
How to recover ? It's really simple.
Pre-requisites:
1. Windows 7 - 10 based PC (for msmtool) with properly installed 9008 COM port drivers.
Follow this guide to set and prepare: [OP8PRO][OOS 11AA/BA/DA] Unbrick tool to restore your device to OxygenOS
2. Buy EDL cable. it looks like that:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Now to revive your toy !
1. Start msmtool, click others (as it's recommended for msmtool), choose region of your device. Get ready to start flashing.
You'll see that the line with COM port says it's not connected (yet)
2. Connect the cable to your device - but not to PC yet.
3. Press the button on the cable - It's called "deep flash" button...
4. While you are still pressing the button, connect the other side of the cable to your PC (where msmtool is opened and ready to go).
5. Release the button and you'll hear that your device is connected. Check the line with COM port and you'll see it's connected.
EDL port will be opened for about 10 seconds. so you must be ready to start the installation.
6. Start the msmtool and wait till the finish.
7. The rest is well known msmtool flashing way.
Enjoy !!!
Credits goes to @tdm , @jabashque & @AnierinB for their support.
This method shall work on EVERY QUALCOMM device, as it's QualComm thing...

Hi everyone, I might need some help here...I have a OnePlus 8T EU model and I too have flashed the wrong xbl.img (DDR5 instead of DDR4X in my case). Reading this post gave me some hope and I bought an EDL cable, looking just as the one in the picture OP posted.
My phone has never been in EDL mode before, therefore it is not showing up at all in device manager, no QHUSB_BULK, no anything. It is therefore impossibile for me to try and install the drivers by updating the device entry there, as specified in the guide.
I tried to install the drivers in several other ways, using an installer executable or manually installing the .inf files, but the outcome is always the same: after following all the steps given, MSM, as well as Device manager, do not read my device.
What can I possibly try differently here?

İssues are with your Windows and quallcom drivers probably... I remember I had to switch to safemod in order to installl quallcom drivers.
I'm facing the same issue. Flashed ddr5 firmware instead of ddr4. The phone is completely hard bricked and is not showing on device manager as well.
Will the edl cable enable the connectivity so that i can do MSM?
Ordered youkiloon hydra v2 edl cable and planning to test tomorrow.
