Just saying, Arc and Arc S have completely same layout and size, so the case is also the same for both.

Agreed. But just to be sure, I've posted links for both. Arc & Arc S.

Maybe anyone knows where to buy something like hardened housing for white Arc S? Mine housing was changed under the warranty. Now warranty ends and my housing appears to slowly getting cracked

Hello, what is easy to install? I think i read somewhere you needed to be careful with the screen disassembly.

Dad might be visiting some family so he might pick me one up from a local trader since it might be cheaper, I guess it's just a waiting game for me now

I bought a new housing for my Arc S as well, because mine was in a very bad condition (I don't know how often I dropped my phone already ) ...
It was very easy to replace the old one ... and even the LCD was easy to disassemble (the adhesive is not very strong) ... I recommend every one with a damaged housing to buy one of those new ones on ebay to replace the old one.... and that for just 12-15€ (incl shipping).

Hi,
I bought an OEM one from HK via ebay... OEM housing
I compared both and I couldn't find any differences... this is definately a perfect copy... all adhesives were already on the cover and everything worked very well... I cannot complain anything about the new housing... well maybe the left back key is maybe 0.1 mm lower than the home button... but this can be also caused by me... the delivery to europe was about 20 days

Thanks again,
I've asked so many services but they said that they need to change the screen as well because the front case is with the LCD panel....
Ridiculous...

The red drawing Shows the adhesive ... and at the green drawing there is a hole where you can push carefully from the back to lift the LCD a Little bit - and then use a thin plastic tool (maybe credit Card etc...) to loose the LCD from the adhesive (if you heat it up a Little it will be easier).

U are awesome!

Arc S housing will fit with Arc?
my arc's housing is at the verge of extinction & the housing of arc is out of stock at ebay.in, so i am planning to buy the white one Arc S housing for my Arc.
Did anyone tried it?
I know both are same but may be some tiny difference from inside

i cannot comment on compatibility of arc s with arc , but from experience the housing /full body available on ebay are mostly cheap copies and not upto the mark. i personally had ordered 2 from ebay.in. at first they fit well and appear new and shinny but within a month they showed up sings of wear inspite careful handling (original housing/full body took 2 years to show such wear signs) and 1 of them eventually cracked.
im planning to get my housing from sony service ( i know it will break my pocket :crying :silly:

I got the housing & i must say that it looks quite nice & decent but cant compared with the original one, the xperia logo is little bit in bold font while the HD is written in light ink or it looks bright & not as dark as the original alslo the finishing of the housing is not very good when compared to original one.
The back panel looks the same as the original but the faceplate is has bad finishing (shapes are little bit more sharp than curve)
Chrome strips looks like original when seen from distance but when i took it close to my eyes they also looks duplicate (not bad though) & i dont think it will last longer.
I suggest anyone go for the original one because this housing will serve you no more than 6 months.
I will comment about the faceplate crack if i get one..

SGP Skin Guard : Leatherize your X10i

A few weeks ago a member at XDA posted a link to the SGP-Store which sold some vinyl decals for the X10i. Their leather Skin Guard series catched my eye. However they were made for the Japanese X10 (hence the whole with DOCOMO in the back):
{

}
I emailed the guys at SGP if they could make the skin guard without the "docomo hole" and they responded with: "if you comment during the order you want on without the docomo hole, then you'll receive one without the docomo hole". Thus I ordered two of the skin guards, one white for myself and one black for my father. Within a week the items arrived (from the USA to the Netherlands).
The Skin Guard is very easy to apply. Just make sure the holes at the camera and flash align with the decal, then align the SE logo on the bottom. With 3 points on a line aligned you really can't go wrong. There was a slight problem though. Because of the sharp curvature of the X10 the decal kept going loose at the edges. First I was frustated but then I rembered from putting decals on cars that heating it with a hairdryer could help. Luckely we can remove the backcover of the X10 so I could really get some heat in it. It was like a miracle, no more loose edges !
I'm really pleased with the end result. Yes it looks a bit like a Blackberry Bold. However remember the Blackberry has only a small portion of leather, where the Skin Guard almost covers the whole back. Furthermore this leather idea on electronics is much older than the Blackberry Bold. Some cameras in the eighties actually had this leather stuff on already.
The leather really makes the X10 a lot more grippy (which is more than welcome on the high gloss slippery white version). The vinyl is thin. However it's still noticable, I'll estimate it at a few papers thick. It doesn't cover the whole backcover, a very thin line across the border remains uncovered. This will help you if you get the vinyl on there not 100% straight. The vinyl is pretty durable and easy to clean. It also protects the back of the X10i. So now I don't have to be afraid of scratching that high-gloss back of my white X10i anymore.
Enough with the chitchat, time for some pictures:
As said, I'm really pleased with the end result. It looks great and I don't have to be so carefull with where a lay down my X10 anymore. To be honoust the skin does look better on the black phone, because there is less color difference between the black phone and the vinyl (black leather vs. flat black rubber) is less than between the white phone and the vinyl (white leather vs. high gloss white). The leather is a bit more white than the X10 is. Nevertheless it still looks pretty sweet
Looks very nice.. so it's not a replacement cover? You have to order the leather part and stick it onto the stock battery cover that we have on our phones?
If so, I would probably get another battery cover on ebay or something and then order this or something.

Yes it's just a sticker, like a screenprotector, but then a leather one. It won't leave any residue (I had to realign it a few times). So you can just paste it on your stock battery cover. Remember to comment that you don't want to have the DOCOMO hole when ordering!

The leather looks nice! but i think if i'm going to order one i'll end up getting the carbon fiber one... looks deadly.

It will match the Xperia writing indeed. However I doubt if the Xperia writing will be nicely centered in the hole.

Yup, ordered one too but didn't mention to cut out the docomo since i ordered through amazon. I'll just cut out the docomo so i can see the sony ericson or something, might put a spare clear protector over just that area to make it a window. Will post pictures when I get it
I got one for a month or two now, its white and now its getting pretty dirty. Its a bit tattered now but I'll try to get some pics of it.
^ That looks HORRIBLE. It doesn't fit the back at all.
I just ordered one but it's for the actual x10, not the DOCOMO version:
Hopefully this one fits better then the above poster's.
Also, to the people who bought this, did you recieve the "Steinheil Crystal Screen Protector" with the product? It says it also ships one out with the package, and it's supposed to be the best screen protector you can buy.
I just received my Carbon skin in the mail today... without the DOCOMO hole lol... yes it does come with the Crystal Screen protector.. it put a huge smile on my face cause i didnt even know it was supposed to come with one

Funny story... i haven't been able to apply it yet because I lost the back of my phone that covers the battery due to dropping my phone on a balcony... battery cover popped off and fell 7 stories onto an overhang... ordered a new back so I'm just waiting on that to arrive... my phone almost fell along with it but it hung on by a thread... i live in Ontario Canada... took 2 weeks including weekends to get here... so approx 10 business days

They didn't offer a real X10 version when I ordered it. Looks like they finally decided to correct their 'mistake'.
About how well the skin fits, the skin is actually a bit flexible. So just align the camera and flash hole, then pull it gently to align the lower SE 'orbit'.
Good luck!
The moment I get some cash I'm gunna get one... damn that looks nice,
How is it for scratches?

just got mine, it fits quite nicely... I didn't need to stretch it or anything, it's just a little smaller than the battery cover...
I'm sending the pictures of my phone with it, don't crucify me for the quality, I'm not the best photographer in the world...
also it was really easy to install, in the first attempt I got it right...
good luck with yours...

Smashed Screen

I smashed my gs 2 today and was wondering if anyone knows how much it will cost to replace i have the premium handset protection plan
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-1722
Looks like it'll cost you around 135.
You might be able to do better if you go to a corp store.
Lets all take a moment to say a prayer for a wounded SGSII
What? It costs $135 even with the "premium" protection plan?
I paid 165.00 including shipping but had to order two of them and that was out of china... took a couple of weeks too. You might find a better price for the screen somewhere but pretty much nobody actually has them here in the US yet...
I've still got an extra screen if you want to try to talk it out of me by PM...
I also work for a small computer store locally and we do screen replacements on cell phones....

I think he meant replaced from our carrier, the whole phone. I had a tragedy last night so I'll be needing a screen asap to replace it, use to do this for years for everyone else I knew, starting with iPhones. I may be in touch. does the replacement have the double sided tape on it already?

ALSO dude remember to get ur pics off the phone if it still turns on. I used Droid Explorer. Works like a charm and noob friendly if you don't know what you are doing.

the screen has a foam base, no adhesive, most of the adhesive is at the edges and top and bottom of the screen and will stay on the phone frame if you are careful so you only have to worry about the LCD itself, I made a couple of 1mm tape strips and put them on the back of the LCD just to keep it from vibrating or getting broke loose from the screen (like that would actually happen)...
there is a light bar at the bottom of the screen for the buttons, it's easier to let it come out with the screen and then remove it later and set it back in the phone frame. The light bar has lots of adhesive on it too.
If you preserve enough of the original adhesive in the phone frame there is no reason why a bit of contact cement (rubber cement) wouldn't hold the LCD in just fine too.
I got my screens from globaldirectparts, you have to sign up to use them but they have quite a bit of sgsII parts...

I really appreciate all of the information. I was going to buy some 3m 2mm adhesive strips (probably a roll) and a screen and have at it. I used to repair iphone screens a LOT, so I have experience in the field, I just know this phone is a little more pain in the ass.
Sucks I can't call Tmo and just get insurance, wait a week and file for it :/
how long does that site take to ship?
EDIT: Looks like you have to be a business with a fed tax ID to sign up and order, they have what I want to, the screen already in a front housing :/

Directly from the T-mobile PHP information on their website.
If you receive a replacement wireless device, it may be new or remanufactured.
• If the same make and model you claim is not available, a similar make and model may be substituted.
• You may also receive generic manufacturer accessories.

The tax id field on their site you can use your SS number for it, I would suggest changing at least a couple of numbers in it though as they have no need for that info for small purchases. The sign up form is automatic and not screened so you will have access as soon as you submit the information...
It took a threatening email to them to get them to ship but i had the parts in about three days once they did ship! I would guess they are a drop shipper or had to source the parts elsewhere... they do have a US distributor too but there doesn't seem to be any stock for sgs II parts from the US distributor...

Thanks! All great info. I actually found what I wanted on eBay, screen already in the front frame (lcd, digitizer, button lights, etc.) for $189 shipped. It's from Hong Kong but they promise 7 day business for US customers and they have decent reviews and still at 100%. If they don't pan out, I'll go your route. May I ask why you had to use a threatening email for them to send?
Just ordered the eBay screen, $185 - LCD, Digitizer, Frame & Bezel with tools. Steep, but hell, it's gotta get done. I'll probably take pics and do a small tut for those interested.
Just hope it doesn't take a month to come in lol.

Crazy idea about sanding galaxy s2's bezel?

Hi guys! I just want to hear your thought on what i'm planning to do.... so i have this awesome galaxy s2 phone but my problem is that it's started peeling off around the bezel and now it looks like crap unless i use a case that covers it all. so i've been googling around and found out that some people sanded their white s2's and it looked black! so my question is when i sand it down will it look black underneath or will it be metallic color? i want it black tho.... has anybody done it? i've already looked into replacing the bezel but it's gonna cost alot where i live which is Belarus...
so what is your take on this? should i sand it down to make it look some what nice or should i just leave it as it is and deal with it until i get a new phone? Thanks in advance for any input.
You can probably paint it yourself if you sand it down first. So you could have any colour you'd like!
Just be careful with the face buttons I suppose.
I heard that people jump off cliffs with wings strapped to their arms, doesnt mean its a good idea.
Save your money and replace it properly. Are you talking about the rear of the phone? that surrounds the backplate (the bezel), or are you talking the front of the phone which is glass :S A replacement bezel for the rear costs very little and ordered from china they deliver anywhere, even belarus.
there is the rear housing

Hi! sorry for late response....i'm talking about front ..... i would have bought and replaced everything my self but i was told that it's not easy as the touchscreen is glued to the bezel? i have no idea if that's true but it sounds kind of complicated to me
look at the attachment to see how my phone looks (not an actual photo but it's the same)

The front comprises 2 sections, its a glass sheet that is over the top, and then the Amoled/digitizer/touchscreen is under that. The glass however is glued to the digitizer.
The glass replacement is fairly inexpensive, but it involves heating the glass to release the glue that attaches it to the amoled, and then you have to reglue the new glass panel on top.
Basically what you are looking for is:
costs about $10-$15 on ebay.
But no, sanding down the GLASS would not be a good idea..

Not sure about white S2, but I assume you are talking about sanding a plastic case, right? The bezel on S2 is actually made of metal, so by sanding it you will expose a bare metal surface and obviously get a silver metallic colour. I am pretty sure there are ways to make it black by chemical treatment (after removing the bezel from casing, of course), but you'll have to do some research on this...
Oh, and you are right - your issue has nothing to do with the glass replacement...
Ok, reality check.
Its just some very minor plaint flaking.
if its under warranty, RMA it. If it it isnt see what Samsung would do for you.
if your not already using one, you should be using a case that will cover the bezel...!!!

ok, now im finally with you, its the full front bezel you want to replace.
like so
in which case i wouldnt bother.
As stated about, sanding it down will just give you silver metal. (where its worn the fact its silver underneath should have been a giveaway)
Replacing the bevel is a lot of work and involves removing the screen/glass etc.
Easiest way is either
a) just buy a cheap case for it, that will protect everything
or
b) if you really dont want to put it in a case just get some enamel paint (a little airfix or humbrol paint) and just touch it up with a tiny spot.
Or
C) buy new phone

this has got me wondering about the 2000mah battery and the case wont fit problems. Wonder if i can sand a mm or so off the back of the battery.
Just to add to the thread for future reference.
There are two layers that chip. The first one exposes a silver paint and then that comes off and exposes black plastic. So I guess it can be sanded. I'm considering doing that.

Its doable but you need to be cautious not to scratch the screen, ive done it my self and some other people. Check this thread.
My black S2 looks pretty good. Don't really like the white one tbh.
try it for my white s2 and it look pretty good again thank u for the idea
it cost me only 3$ (sandpaper p220+Adhesive tape to protect other unwanted area+ changing my screen protector)
look the result and sorry for my english
Instead if sanding down chrome bezel, do you his think there is another option to strip the chrome off? Mine is chipped and I don't think I could sand it down. I like to take if the chrome completely off the bezel. I an able to scrap off the chrome with my finger nails but it us not clean. What do you guys think? Any idea with be appreciated.

How about use a black nail polish and paint it over the chipped part?

Hi mate,
In my opinion, never do such a task that u do not have any experience in.
And the risk is rather high of ruining ur phone.
Just buy a good case untill u get the accesory from anywhere.
In india we can get the whole body (including front panel, glass, back panels and battery cover included) in 40-50 $(apprx 2500rs)
So just buy a case till u get a better solution regarding the scratches.
If u get a chance, go for the white body..as my white s2's frame does not seem to chip off.

Not to late I suppose
If it's not too late I have better idea which I did myself. The area where the bezel has come of can be blackened by using cotton and nail polish remover. What it does is, the nail polish remover spreads the black colour from the sides and now the metallic part is not visible! In short you are doing painting with nail polish remover. Just give it a try!
What it does is removes the chrome and reveals the black part which is under the chrome.

I got this one from eBay.
More expensive than getting a Nilkin one from China, but at least I know it'll be delivered early next week.

Hi, do guys use a screen protector for the rear of the Z1 or just leave it as is? I have the White Z1 and don't want scratches on the real of the z1.
Thanks!
Do you guys remove the original screen protector (the one with the Sony brand) or you apply on top of it? Isn't a bit much? Basically you have two screen protector

I purchased one of those " 10 screen protectors " cheap Chinese ones for about 1-2 pounds. Then I used one for the back of the phone (I cut the corner for the camera) - It dosent looks very pretty but If you are going to put a case on it and want to protect the back from scratching its a cheap solution

People tend to apply on top. I wouldn't treat the sony brand shatter proof film as a screen protector as its not replaceable. (and removing it would void warranty / may make the phone hard to sell in the future if you do.)
Buy a premium phone with glass and aluminum build for a **** load of money then cover it up with cheap plastic as soon as you get it out of the box. Yup, makes perfect sense to me.

Until they come out with the Tempered Glass Oleophobic ones then yes, I will use a cheap plastic one. If I'm spending a **** load of money then you can bet I'll protect it as best as I can.

Still not here (I expect them this week though), but I'll post some feedback when they are.
Only get one set in a pack so if I go ahead ill get two packs just in case.
I've got one from a 10 pack on the front and back atm. Absolutely terrible. Scratches out of nowhere! So bad I can feel them so really eager to get some proper ones. Never had any as bad as this! We're like £3.49 for 10 on eBay hah

Well.. I hope you have kitchen space
I just received the protector and (I probably didn't read the description well) I was surprised to find that it is a wet application one. Here is the installation process explained. It's a finicky, messy (wet) job. It is doable though. I recommend you wear latex gloves.
A word of warning: be careful when you are using the squeegee! I damaged a little part on the bottom edge when I was pressing to down too hard at first and, because of a bubble, the protector got snagged by the squeegee.
Now it needs to dry for 12 hours (which doesn't really matter as it'll be finished in the morning). I'm curious how it will turn out; the front cut out was perfect, though the back one seemed a little on the short side. It also comes with pieces to fit over the sides, but I didn't put them on.
On a personal note, this thing is only temporary, so I don't really care about a less than perfect fit or the fact that I damaged it a little. It just needs to hold out until the liquid sapphire gets here.
I like skinomi adds a bit of a rubbery feel I put them on front and back helps with the slipperiness as I don't use a case

Xperia Z3 Compact Screen - Original and Replacement comparison.

Hi, I made simple comparison between original screen and not bad replacement. Main differences:
- Replacement is more fragile, original has better quality glass
- Replacement has worse colors saturation
- Replacement has lower brightness, especially visible on the white color
- Viewing angles looks similar
I tested replacement 1/3 cheaper than original and I can say it's not bad but I still prefer original one with whole frame, flexes and speakers.

Whole test and more pictures is here. Again only in Polish cause my English is still to weak to translate it all but maybe in the future. For now You can use translate button.
TBH, Replacement Screen looks bad. Colors are washed out compared to the original one, If you need a screen replacement don't waste your money on garbage and purchase OEM Screen from Sony
I don't need replacement, I made this comparison on my blog for my clients to show them what is real difference between replacement and original. Here I just posted results.
Of course original is always better but if I have to be honest my clients mostly choosing replacement over original because it's cheaper. Maybe 1/5 of them decides to buy 2x more expensive original. The other side is that AE, eBay and others are selling replacements sometimes 4x-5x cheaper than original. When someone needs to buy LCD, he's going to think twice before buing one for 120-150$.

I know this Isn't the right thread to ask this, and I know it is a noob question but my screen has cracked and touch is going insane when I touch the screen,so do I need to replace the whole LCD panel or only the glass(digitizer) and there are no artifacts on the screen?
You can replace only digitizer but for that You need to separate digitizer from LCD. It's really hard when You don't have separator with heat option. Next You need to clean old glue and again to do that manually You need luck. After that You need to put new glue but here is another problem cause there are two types of glue: dry OCA but without pressure machine You wont unite it and second liquid LOCA but here You need ultraviolet lamp to harden it.
Anyway making any step of it You can break LCD. So if You don't know anyone with required equipment and knowledge You shouldn't try it. There is no chance that You can do it manually if You never done it.

Ok,thank you for the help.
where I can buy cheap original LCD and how I can see the difference? if there is any difference in chip color, backside adhesive covering...Could you post the picture?
Here is my comparison of original and spare LCD. It's in Polish but pictures shows what is the difference. Where to buy, AliE or eBay I suppose. I'm ordering mine from local distributor but I suppose in the edn all are from China.
Probably won't work, but I ask anyway: Could one get an AMOLED screen as replacement? That is the only thing I'm missing on my Z3c and makes me look to the Axon 7 Mini and others.
Nope, only LCDs for Z3c.
hi , i bought cracked z3c and will try separating , digitizer and lcd 1st before ordering digitizer only or lcd+digitizer
my problem here is z3c that i bought is 4.3" i thought it is only available in 4.6"
is it any problem if i'm replacing it with 4.6" lcd ?
Are You sure it is Z3c not Z1c??

Ok, I had it once, ordered from my local supplier and I was quite surprised when I figured it's smaller than any other Z3c display but it's working at the same time.

Yea, that's what I found out after I bought and replaced my screen, bezels are bigger on this compared to original However, as I expected this screen is complete crap. Colours are washed out (can be adjusted through KCAL so not a problem), it has annoying flickering on brightness above 50%, and the thing I hate the most out of it, touch response and accuracy while typing are horrible and it gets bad to the point where I find myself correcting every single word and have to slow down to actually type without errors. I just want to smash it, but until I collect more money to order another one from AliExpress I'll have to keep calm.
@Chamelleon
Do you buy originals? If Yes, where do you buy? In Brazil is very hard to find any original, I already buyed 3 to my and the last (current) was the worst.
It's hard to find original one cause it's no longer produced. When You are searching on eBay or some local auction portals look for one with whole frame with both speakers but without the flaps. All original displays for Z3c came to me like this: frame, both speakers and no flaps.
I just cracked the digitizer so I lost a part of the touchscreen. Now I'm searching for a non OEM display replacement. As some of you said you can find 4.3 and 4.5 replacement display for the Z3C but I don't wanna buy this crap. I just found a (supposed) 4.6 inches display on Aliexpress from a brand named SRJTEK. I cannot post the link cause I'm a new user.
Has anyone tried it yet ? Do you think this screen can do the job ? Otherwise what replacement display do you advice me guys ?
Thanks to all ! :good:

My friend has ordered one for me from this seller: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4-6...t-LCD-Touch-Screen-Digitizer/32805748648.html
I have to say that it looks like original screen (bezels, rear black film/tape, micro-controllers on flat cable), but I did not test it yet, since the LCD glue will arrive tomorrow. I may give it a quick test later and will update the post.
Update: After actually testing the screen, it looks suspiciously similar to the original one, in terms of brightness, colour reproduction and most importantly touch latency and sensitivity. My guess is that either the complete display+touch is from some defected device or it's a refurbished one, since no chinese copies would come this close.
I bought mine from this seller, and is by far the most similar to the original one,
very good brighteness and touch
colors are ok except for a little too much saturation expecially on red
Good quality glass, respect to another replacement that last me for less than a month and then cracked under the glass screen protector... that remains intact.
