I'll just keep mine or upgrade to the 32GB TMO version when it comes out. I'm guessing its the US Snapdragon version (compatible w/ AT&T & TMO) & we should be able to install it on ours w/o any issues. I'm all guessing here.

Definitely wanting to sale my note 2 for that.

That's what I believe it is too.

Why would anyone switch their gs4s to that? Can't aosp just be cooked up from that version? It'll deff be much more bug free then aosp at this point

I wonder now that there is a stock android build coming will cm for s4 be better since they will have the code specifically for this phone?

What's the advantages of this???
Now we got are devices fresh in hand and bam. They... release S4 stock.

You shouldn't feel bad about your purchase. I'm quite happy with mine so far (except the overheating issue lately).
I don't have the AOSP version yet, so I can't really speak of the features that are/aren't going to be there.
I'm guessing if they make it true stock Android, there will be no Samsung bloat at all.
So it's basically a much more powerful version than any Nexus phone will ever be,
and as such the price is quite high. Personally, I would not consider it at that price.
I'm happy with my T-Mo, and with a few customization here or there, I can always get stock.
This is really geared toward the hard-core Android fans/developers. You can't doubt the S4 has the best internal hardware
of any phone out there, and there lies possibilities.

I also heard the news from google I/O. Does this mean that this version of the S4 will be as open as a nexus and easy for developers to make their custom ROMs for it?

Sony basically did the same thing with the ZR, took complaints and made a new phone out of it
Just purchased a 600$ Ip57 phone? Well there's IP58 now! (Waterproof not resistant)

It's good to have options, but honestly most people that buy pure vanilla Android are experienced users. Most will have no clue rather it's Vanilla or not.
So there in lies the questions. Why put this out after and most that come here that have an s4 already hacked it to death no? So I don't see the point of the users here who want to upgrade to this when you just put a vanilla type ROM on it.

CM only has bugs on non aosp devices. Its just as stable as stock on my galaxy nexus. Having an aosp s4 will allow all the snapdragon s4's to have stable aosp.

Not true. my nexus 4 gets bugs every once in a while.

If the hardware is identical to the tmoble version then you should just be able to flash the image through Odin right? Seems kind of like the galaxy nexus where you flash takju from yakju or whatever and boom, you are getting the Google play version of updates, wallet functionality etc. If anything it says Samsung has opened their flagship to aosp right?
Even if you think $650 is too much this means that potentially, Samsung will get touch wiz updates to new versions faster as there will be nexus level compatibility with each new android update. I'm not saying immediate but they will have an inside track based on the fact that Google will actively update their device through AOSP for at least 2 years.

CM will always have bugs due to the way they change the Android coding. Where it is stable and great work people should never look for a bug free OS

Should I upgrade to S4 or not?

I have the S3, and S4's 441 ppi Screen is tempting me, but won't our GS3, have those features through a ROM? So should I upgrade or not?
Probably not. Unless you want Touchwiz running on the latest and greatest android build the GS4 is probably not the best way to go if you already have a GS3. Not to mention all those new features will be gone the minute you flash an aosp ROM. So YES if you want Toichwiz on the latest android version (4.2.2) but NO if you're an aosp guy or if you can handle waiting for the new features to be released on the GS3.

I'll be upgrading to an S4, without replacing my existing S3 phone.
Outside the 1080P display, the TV remote and some biometric sensors, I'll have the same phone!
Samsung has already been quoted as releasing the software apps that do not require specific S4 hardware for the S3 and Note II. Look for it later this year.
Well if you're getting it for development don't count on many also Roms as cm team have already mentioned that they are not supporting the gs4. :/

[Q]2nd-Gen Nexus 7 Question..

Hello Ladies & Gentlemen,
Question: I'm strongly leaning towards picking up this 2nd-Gen Nexus 7 next week.. ( I have never owned the 1st-Gen ) and I know the 2nd-Gen is shipping with Android 4.3.. Since this is still Asus with upgraded internals, Will these 4.2.2 ROMS run on the 2nd-Gen? I know it's only a matter of time before 4.3 is ripped apart and reborn as Custom ROMS but I was curious if anyone thinks 4.2.2 would boot..
Thanks for any answers anyone can provide.. :good:
If these said ROMs were ported then maybe. Although I doubt it because 4.3 is better in pretty much every way so what's the point. 4.2.2 software made for the Tegra Nexus 7 won't boot on the newer architecture in the 2nd gen model (Snapdragon S4 CPU).

I think not. Wait for custom roms for the 7² to appear, which they will pretty soon I guess.
But you should definitely go for the new N7, it looks so much sweeter than the 1st gen...
direct ROM flashes Wont work, but if someone ported it over, I dont see why not. but that would probably take just as much time as it would to merge the features to 4.3 so no one will do it.

I'm curious how it is that we have to many custom 4.2.2 rom for the Hercules, yet the graphics driver is not supported?? Did Cyanogen and other rom developers somehow find a way to port the old Qualcomm drivers to other versions of android? Or are we just using the previous 4.1.2 drivers somehow. Either way the statement that the update is somehow incompatible with our device is purely garbage. Truth be told, it is simply a way to sell more devices, at least it is for those who are not willing to flash custom ROMs. For the rest of us there is 4.3 on a device that began as a gingerbread device, which is awesome. Now bring on the KitKat, because I'm sure our device can rock some 4.4 just as well.

[Q] Any stock android ROMS for T999?

Hey guys, so recently I dropped and cracked my Nexus 4 and the digitizer stopper responding, and I was forced to sell it on ebay. I love the Nexus experience, and every phone I've owned to this date (Nexus or not) has run a stock Android ROM. So I was just offered a good price for a tmobile Galaxy S3 and I was wondering if there are and stock 4.3 ROMs for the d2tmo. The newest supernexus rom (v3.0) is not supported by the d2tmo, but is by the galaxy s2 i9100 which I am now considering because of that. I was wondering if anyone could point me to a ROM that provides an almost nexus experience for the US versions of the Galaxy S3. I have searched for hours and haven't found anything yet. Cheers!

Thanks for the recommendation, I came across that ROM when I was searching earlier. Does anyone know why there haven't been many attempts at an AOSP stock ROM for this specific version of the Galaxy S3? Is it just an unpopular concept or is the hardware of the device difficult to develop on?

I'd say start with Galaxy S3 Resource Bible. Practically all the roms are listed there with a short summary or review.
There are 4 variations of this device in US. One for each carrier. T-Mo has a SGH-T999L as well as T999N. Those 2 have different radio antenna but rest the same. So if you check for roms on the 4 carriers sub forums, you will se plenty roms.
A lot of developers have made the roms for ATT Version SGH-I747. People realized it works just fine for T-Mo version. So these are called ATT/TMO roms. To my knowledge Slim, Illusion, Pacman and Liquid offer version 4.3 All of these are AOSP 'ish. I personally used to use Liquid but after a lot of shopping around, moved to Slim Rom. I am told KitKat version of Slim, the SlimKat is around the corner. Their current 4.3 version has been rock solid and is out for quiet some time. If you liked the Nexus experience, you will like Slim equally.

Liquid most definitely is AOSP. Not sure but I think the other one is too. I haven't seen any kang there.

Is 4.3 on the G pad?

Sorry if this an obvious question, but I'd really like to know if I'd have to root/unlock it to flash some more recent Android version.
Speaking of which, how difficult is it to flash/unroot?
At least put an effort into researching.

No man not yet. They do have plans to.
It's true that the answer is a simple no. But I had to learn the hard way when I first jumped into this site a few years ago that people do not like to be asked questions that are easy to answer. You don't even have to look on this website. Simply look at the spec sheet on LG's website and you will see that it comes with 4.2 .2. There is already a rootkit out for the device but no roms at this time. I honestly don't think you need a newer version at this time. 4.2 .2 jelly bean does everything you need in my opinion. Otherwise get a Nexus device. I have a Nexus 4 running Kit Kat Paranoid Android and Franco kernel and I couldn't be happier. But when it comes to my tablet I just wanted for basic consumption and a stock Android is perfectly fine. Just my opinion.
