Right speaker stops working - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Like the subject says, after reboot works for a minute or two playing music then shuts off with a loud "click", both on stock ROM and CM10.1.
3.5mm jack, however, works fine.
Can I just replace speakers since I don't have warranty (and it's cheap fix) or it's a motherboard issue?
Thanks.

Nobody with experience like this?

So you're saying that the speaker works for only a few minutes? Have you tried going back to stock and testing the speakers on the stock ROM?

There are some on eBay, but something what bothers me if it isn't speakers so it would be a wasted money. I mean, if speaker is blown then it's blown, it doesn't start working after reboot again for a minute or two.
I was, hopefully, looking that someone had similar issues and how did they solved that.

wait you reversed info from the OP. does it work after reboot for a min or 2, or does it take a couple mins to work?

Speakers arrived but there was no need to buy them - when I've had opened KF today there were visible squeezed wires of the speakers assembly. Somebody at Amazon is not doing proper work, fitting them properly fixed issue. However, I have spare ones in case those decide to die...

Need help with Defy.

Okay, so I really need help with my Defy. A few days ago, when I was washing my Defy(yes I wash it), the usb covering came out and a little water went into the usb port. It was fine for an hour or two, but then the phone went into landscape mode and refused to budge. I was on CM7 and thought that there must be something wrong with it so I switched to the official Froyo. The problem was a bit better on Froyo but it remained as irritating. Now, when I press the home button, it takes me to the dock app. Also, whenever a call comes, it automatically puts it into speaker mode as if it was connected to the docking station.
Is there anyway in which I can possibly fix this? I really need help. :/
It's waterproof , but not up to that standard.....you might need to dry the parts before using it again.....
Try using a hairdryer
Herpderp Defy.

I think the usb area got affected the megnetic sensor for the docking which you're experiencing now.. I must be from the water penetration. Have you tried to uninstall the dock apk and see..

Okay, I installed CM7 for now. How do I go about fixing it from landscape mode?
I don't know if this has something to do with your problem, but have you tried recalibrating the compass?

I think you should remove or uninstall the home dock apk as the magnet always triggered forcing your phone into lanscape.

There is no dock app on CM9. The phone is just stuck on landscape. It's the same thing with CM7.
Maybe this app can help you.
Although I would suggest you to disassemble the phone as much as you can and put the entire unit in tight raw rice container.
Next day, put it in the sun. (Just to make sure that there is no chance of water inside.)
P.S. : don't you have warranty left

Um, I want my phone to auto rotate again so that app isn't much help, but thanks anyway.
About the rice and sun trick, I did that yesterday but nothing came of it.
Also, I do have warranty left but I don't trust Motorola with my phone. Well, that's saying something but anyway. I'd like to give it a try and see if it's fixable at home but I may just be forced to give it in. Oh well.
Guys, reply please. :/

Okay, so basically I've narrowed down the problem. It's something with the magnetic sensor as the phone thinks it's connected to a dock. I know this because whenever a call comes, it goes to speaker and the orientation is stuck on landscape like on a dock. Now, there is NO dock app on CM7/CM9, so is there anyway by which I can calibrate the magnetic sensor or is there any other fix?
Bump, really need help here.

Sounds like your ph is fubar ^^
You could just tell everyone it's a small tablet ;-)
& never wash your ph again :zoinks:
Okay, I've managed to fix most of the problem by uninstalling the dock app and the dock service on MS2Ginger. However, calls still get directed to speaker. Is there any way in which I can fix it? Also, I need a more permanent solution to this if possible. Thanks.

No vibrate

This is my first thread so forgive if i put it in the wrong place. I wasn't sure where it should go.
So did the usual phone user mistake and dropped (threw) my phone. cracked the screen pretty good. I've messed with phones for a while now so i purchased a new screen and digitzer and tore down the phone. pulled the old screen off, replaced it with the new and everything was good as new. ran some tests with video and quick touches as well as multi-touch and zoom. everything worked great but i have no vibrate. the phone can be put into vibrate mode but it doesnt vibrate. i tried factory reset, though i figured it was hardware and not software. If anyone who has torn down these phones knows anything about the vibrate can you please guide me into fixing this?
On a side note, i also broke a little golden clip off the inside later when tinkering trying to fix the vibrate (im pretty sure it completes the circuit for sound because now i have no sound).
Bump. Sorry but this is kind of urgent. does anyone have any ideas on this?

It is possible that the connector came loose. Try checking that. The motor could have also been damaged so it make need to be replaced.

Motherboard replacement

Hi everyone,
I will explain as fast as possible : I have 2 OnePlus 3. One with a freeze problem (https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/help/strange-issue-op3-t3699715=) and the second one with damaged screen but everthing working. So what if I put the motherboard of the broken screen one in the model with the freeze problem. Do you think it can works ?
Thx for reading ! And sorry for the english.
Watch JerryRigEverything teardown videos and try it and keep us updated I'm curious of the result. It'll probably work because basically what you're going to do is changing the broken screen with a solid one. (Changing motherboard will be about the same i think.)
Yup, this has to work.

I watched his video too, for me it was a LOT more resistant.
And finally I bought another phone (still OP3) and I'm still using it.
I tried to open the old phone again and I managed to do it using the jack connector, I used a screwdriver and levered in the jack connector (and the jack connector is still working).

No other reports about that so far. Maybe you busted it accidentally plugging in your old headphones. I know the 6T removed the jack so does your wireless phones work ok or is it the whole channel? If you think it's hardware you can probably get a new replacement today with no charges.

Wireless works fine but I prefer wired headphones while at work which is why I was glad to see this phone had the jack. It's definitely the headphone jack. The left channel is gone completely. Accidentally plugging in my old headphone? I'm not sure what that would even mean or why the 6T would even come into this since I mention the V series phones earlier which all have headphone jacks with zero issues in my years with them. And yeah, I'm going to get it replaced but I kinda wanted to see if other people had issues too.

I just mentioned the old phone plugs because some of mine get weird after a while and I have to jiggle them to get both channels. And then sometimes the wires get nicked and the same thing happens. If you've tried all that then a replacement is the only way to go at this point. Probably just bad luck because, as I said, I've still seen no reports of malfunction that you describe.

If the headphone jack goes bad after one day, that's a very bad sign . How cheap did Google go to get to the price points they arrived at. I would return the phone and get another one. Don't keep a damaged phone.

It's fixed now so we can dispense with the niceties. I merely meant that those plugs are sometimes sketchy and I've even seen them bent. Put one of those in a headphone jack and you can possibly break it. The OP discounted that days ago, however and the issue was dropped.

If the hinge is not operating smoothly and especially if out of alignment it should be repaired soon... to avoid collateral damage to the display.

That's the test mode so it might be it detecting a hardware fault. There's no reason it should be glitching on its own if you're not providing any inputs. A Samsung Experience center at best buys can run additional diagnostic tests on it.

I wouldn't be concerned with that then. As long as everything else is operating normally.

Strange... must be a Fold thing. Don't see that on my N10+ when I run device test. As long as it passes the tests it's just a harmless Fold anomaly.
I would keep a close eye on the hinge though. Probably should have it looked at.
Mine does this to its nothing to worry about it must be part of the vibration test
