Headphone Jack Already Jacked - Google Pixel 3a XL Questions & Answers

Had it around 24 hours now and the headphone jack already lost the left channel. Seems Google already forgot how to source that part properly.

Oh! That is not good. The only reason I purchased this phone. I will start testing mine now!
Thanks for the post.

Come on now. One instance of a part that went bad is no indication of a trend or even remotely grounds for such a conclusion.

Oh, I'm sorry. I must expect too much coming from a series of V phones where I've been plugging headphones in and out for years without issue. You're absolutely correct, my dismay that the headphone jack on this one not lasting past 24 hours is completely unfounded. Silly me. /sarcasm

I didn't say you shouldn't be upset. It's fine to be upset by it, you just bought the thing, ffs. I simply suggested that there is no justification, as yet, to blame their sourcing.
No need to get snide about it. Hakuna your tatas, bud. :good:

No other reports about that so far. Maybe you busted it accidentally plugging in your old headphones. I know the 6T removed the jack so does your wireless phones work ok or is it the whole channel? If you think it's hardware you can probably get a new replacement today with no charges.

Wireless works fine but I prefer wired headphones while at work which is why I was glad to see this phone had the jack. It's definitely the headphone jack. The left channel is gone completely. Accidentally plugging in my old headphone? I'm not sure what that would even mean or why the 6T would even come into this since I mention the V series phones earlier which all have headphone jacks with zero issues in my years with them. And yeah, I'm going to get it replaced but I kinda wanted to see if other people had issues too.

I just mentioned the old phone plugs because some of mine get weird after a while and I have to jiggle them to get both channels. And then sometimes the wires get nicked and the same thing happens. If you've tried all that then a replacement is the only way to go at this point. Probably just bad luck because, as I said, I've still seen no reports of malfunction that you describe.

eeek. sucks to hear that man I mostly use bluetooth headphones over wired cos they can go much louder but I do from time to time use wired earphones for phone calls. So far no problems but If i have any issues related to the headphone jack I'll report it here.

If the headphone jack goes bad after one day, that's a very bad sign . How cheap did Google go to get to the price points they arrived at. I would return the phone and get another one. Don't keep a damaged phone.

Maybe you busted it, are you serious, what a dumb thing to say. It's a headphone jack, their designed to have the plug go in and come out and if it breaks after one day. It's a bad sign. You should return the phone and get a replacement.

That was my thinking. It's designed to do a job that's been around decades. It shouldn't be breaking after 24 hours. I ended up getting a new one.

It's fixed now so we can dispense with the niceties. I merely meant that those plugs are sometimes sketchy and I've even seen them bent. Put one of those in a headphone jack and you can possibly break it. The OP discounted that days ago, however and the issue was dropped.

Nitro is not available in St Pete, FL

I went into all ATT, BestBuy and RadioShack around the town and none had LG Nitro. In BestBuy they don't even have a mokup and guy I talked to thought the phone is not out yet.
So I was wondering, why is that? Maybe it's because the phone is so f.up hardware wise, and we should expect a recall?
AT&T is being quite funny about the Nitro. I ran into the same problem with it in Boston when it came out. No one had a display model or stock. I had to call around to 5 stores before I found one. No clue why that is.
Why what's wrong with the Nitro hardware-wise?
The AT&T store is the only one local that has it in stock. I bought mine at Best Buy, but it was a special order. Dunno why they aren't pushing the Nitro. What is messed up hardware wise?
Broken compass is a huge blow (for me), mic in headset that works on 4 different android phones doesn't work on nitro, notifications also don't play through headset.
Horrible battery life if you use phone more then just keeping it in standby. Oh and have usb port on top - is a nonsense!

Don't you already have the phone? Now you make it sound like you've never supported the phone, while you've been doing so from the beginning [email protected]
Compass is not broken, it just takes a while to find it's bearing (although the GPS catch is the fastest out there) Mic works perfectly on my headset (I use the Ultimate Ears TripleFi 10vi, and also tested it on the ibeats and beats pro and both worked fine). Notifications have always worked on every single headsets i used with this phone, with mic or no mic (sony, logitech, altec lansing, sennheiser, panasonic, etc). Battery life have improved in time over a months period, and now I just charged once and I can keep running the whole day using it for various things. And USB on top? works perfectly for me since I can line up the 3.5mm jack with the usb when I'm in the car and can put the phone in one of the cup holders. In case someone wants to mention the usb cover, it's not flimsy at all. as long as you don't try to yank it off, it does not even look like it will break anytime soon.
Now back to topic...I have a feeling AT&T might have some kind of an agreement with Samsung to promote their phones more aggressively over their other phones, maybe so they can get the Note and the Nexus in their roster. I actually noticed that AT&T makes no attempt to promote the LG phone other than during the announcement even from the first days it was released. In one of our malls here, there's 2 AT&T spots, one is a small kiosk, the other is a big store. Only the big store has it on display, and even now, 2 months later, the small kiosk still doesn't have it displayed. Same thing with a Radio Shack here in a town near me and in Brooklyn. I went in to look for possible cases for the phone, saw that there is no dummy phone shown, asked the guy where's the Nitro HD, and they're like huh? what phone? I had to speak to the manager and he said oh we do not carry that here.
I doubt it's hardware issue. If it was a battery issue, AT&T can issue a bigger better battery replacement instead of losing business. Or it could possibly be that they do not promote the phone to avoid having to deal with customer complaints about the battery, of course it only applies to those who don't wait and see how much better the battery is now. I still say it's something to do with an agreement with another maker.

not quiet understand you there. Yes, from the day one I was bashing this phone for it's flaws, simply because it's not worth the $600 price tag. If it was sold for $200 in retail, I'd love it.

Really? Do you have anything to compare it with? I'd like to see how it works for you. For instance load up the google navigator and select "walk", then open the map and see how "you" will spin and point in all kind of directions while the phone is stays still.

Some headsets don't have problems, I agree, but some, that work on other phones don't work on Nitro. Lack of drivers? Maybe, I don't know, but it's a fact.

Perhaps, however don't expect any kind of gadgets such as docks or webtops for this phone. And do you know why they put that cover? It's to protect the usb port from dust and crap, because most people care the phone in their pockets, upside down...
Hmmm got home today at 9pm, looked at the phone and couldn't believe my eyes, it shows 4G LTE icon. Either I didn't notice it at 5pm or they added Tampa Bay to LTE network between 5 and 9 today...
Let's the throttling war begin
I just missed it! I was in St. Pete/Tampa over the weekend and was shocked they didn't have LTE (yes yes, I know they weren't on the short list of markets)... Congrats on getting it now! I live in Boston and work in NH and its such a huge difference in speed between HSPA (at work) and LTE (at home), its ridiculous.

Can this be true?

I was browsing Facebook earlier, and as usual half my timeline is full of crap!
When I noticed this, gave it a quick read and realised is was a mobile phone.

No. Just...no.

This is how it could end up when you are using cheap charger made in China (with no offense to Chinese people) for £2. It is better to get genuine charger and don't take a risk. Btw, even with sh*tty charger, is it really possible that phone will blow up with THAT power?

I don't know about this story but i read a similar one about a guy who died using a dual sim phone from china. He was using it while it was charging too.I guess it is possible
Wet hands perhaps? It might've been an i-device with those edges made of steel in addition with a cheapo charger with poor soldering and contacts...

Its crap ! Another dumb guy who put his stuff in the oven and made some great looking pictures ! This will not happen to a phone......if something is going wrong its in the main charger that's stuck in the outlet. It will melt because it gets too hot maybe. And then it should make electrical circuit fall out in the main power supply in the house.
If that doesn't happen it says more about the security in the electric fusebox of the house then the crappy charger

Agreed bull****.
Firstly 5volts @ 1-2 amps is certainly not going to kill you.
Any respectable wall charger / home is going to have a 3amp fuse / circuit breaker to prevent this kind of thing.
To get that kind of damage you are not only going to need a voltage failure 240v (UK) to handset. But more likely an electricity grid neutral failure sending probably over 1000v to the phone. And if that was to happen i would be more worried about everything electronic in the house blowing up than answering a call

And also to add to the story that it seems weird to me that he had a weak pulse then died later. A high current electric shock will stop your heart flat. Not slow it down

Although very uncommon and unusal this kind of thing can happen with some mobile phones. Ive worked for the Health and Safety and you would be suprised how many of these types of accidents get reported. It doesnt have to be on charge for this to happen either it can happen during normal usage.

By "these types" do you mean death by phone tazer or just exploded phone.
95% of exploded phone issues will be from catastrophic battery failure. Not electrocution by over current

Perhaps if his parents didnt waste time taking pictures of his hands for facebook before taking him to hospital he would have survived lol load of rubbish.
Whatever,
and don't forget with an even cheaper charger let s say 50 cents you can even reproduce an atomic blast,
for the health and secure guy, i believe that a lot of person are having explosion like this, just one thing people
would tell everything to get money back from insurance or other establishment and sadly the more people
use the same story the more i begins to be true, like ghosts goblins or pink elephants. .......
:cyclops:
It a bull**** story , if the guy is dead who's hand is this ? Nigerian scam if you ask me
Never seen an exploding phone, but charger yes...
I cant say I have seen any exploding phones in "real life" but I have however seen a charger explode. I plugged it in, hooked up my phone, sat down across the room and then boom! It exploded, tripped all the power but thankfully didn't nuke my phone. I wouldn't say it's impossible, also I wouldn't really say it was the phone exploding, but I do think the battery may have some potential to cause some wicked damage...
Take a look here, not quite the same as the fb stuff but still worth a look?

Right speaker stops working

Like the subject says, after reboot works for a minute or two playing music then shuts off with a loud "click", both on stock ROM and CM10.1.
3.5mm jack, however, works fine.
Can I just replace speakers since I don't have warranty (and it's cheap fix) or it's a motherboard issue?
Thanks.

There are some on eBay, but something what bothers me if it isn't speakers so it would be a wasted money. I mean, if speaker is blown then it's blown, it doesn't start working after reboot again for a minute or two.
I was, hopefully, looking that someone had similar issues and how did they solved that.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Speaker Hardware Help!!!

Hey guys! I'm reaching the end of my rope with this... so if anyone has had any experience with this, please let me know!
About a week ago, I dropped my S4 into a toilet! Anyways, everything came out fine besides the loud speaker. Now, the speaker isnt completely dead. It produces a low, constant hum (like some sort of electromagnetic interference). It produces different sounds as I use the touchscreen. It will ring and play music, but the quality is horrible. Ive replaced the Speaker ( it was easy since the housing pops on and off) and the USB Flex Cable. I am still getting the horrible hum and bad sound quality from the speaker. For the time being, I have a small piece of paper in front of the positive and negative of the speaker. If you have any suggestions, please let me know!!!

1st of all..why was your phone even near a toilet lol, that's one thing I don't do. Take my 700 dollar phone into the bathroom.
2nd, have you tried cleaning the terminals before replacing the speaker? did you actually buy a new replacement, or just clean off the one that was in there? http://www.etradesupply.com/

Whats the point of buying a $700 device if you cant do with it what you please? Besides, I was drunk and some dbag walked into the stall I was in while I was taking a piss. The door slammed me in the back and I dropped the phone. Yes, both parts came from a SGH-M919
I took it to a cellphone repair shop and they were stumped too. They tested both parts I bought, as well as the phone itself. The parts worked fine, but they also had the interference with their parts when testing the phone. All they could recommend is some sort of cleaning bath that takes 4 hours. I think I might just do that. Thanks

Headphone jack problem

Recently I found that my headphones were cutting out I tired other ones and still the same thing. They cut out every time the inserted jack moves a little. There also seems to be some screen flex in the middle right edge of my screen every time I move the jack around inside the phone. I've contacted Sony and my phone is being sent in for repairs. I don't know if it's my fault of a defect. I'll post again soon give and update on the situation if they'll fix it of I'll have to pay them to fix it.

On my xperia the headphone sound cuts out when i twist it in a circular motion in the headphone jack. Its really weird. I hope the problem doesn't get worse for me.

Oh crap, have you gotten your Z5p wet in the water? I did that with mine and it usually takes a full day for it to fully dry before the ports start working well again.

No. Even tho i know that the Z5P is water-proof mine never had any contact with water but I took my Z2 with me into the bath lots of time and never had any problem like that.
