The "Not on our radar" manufacturer thread - Nexus 7 (2013) Accessories

So, needed a rugged/water resistant case for use in the outdoors in Alaska, I've emailed a few companies to see if they had plans to make a case with at least one of the above characteristics.. preferably both. Here's my list of "Not yet" manufacturers.

Trident was a yes, though.
Any other "Not yet" responses you guys have gotten from manufacturers you've contacted? Be nice to have a thread of manufacturer responses.

The leather Nexus 7 cases made by oberondesign.com might or might not fit the new Nexus 7. I asked them about it and they said they hadn't tried the new one yet, but they suspected it would not fit the old case. They haven't made a decision about actively supporting the new model yet.

I see your question about the HTC one, what i did to solve that issue is remove there screen protector. Push it in from the front, it comes off fairly easily, then remove any excess glue with alcohol. use your favorite brand of screen protector and snap back on the defender and your good to go. I hated my otterbox defender for the ONE til i did this.

Hah, not me, but that's good info, if they'll ever make one for my N7/2! Thanks!

Strange... I just asked Trident the same question and they said it was not even being considered ATM.

Well, that sucks.
I ended up with the Poetic Revolution anyway. If you want to triple the thickness of your N7, that's the way to do it. Holy crap this thing is huge. Plastic frame with integrated screen protector, and rubber outer case, with plugs for ear and usb ports.
Seen here with the N7 in the Moko Ultrathin Smart.
Pic sucks, it's late and I'm tired. :silly:

[CASE][REVIEW]Gloss Black TPU Cover Skin

When it comes to a case for my smartphone I’m pretty picky, however, the Gloss Black TPU Cover Skin for the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is hands down my favorite. It offers style and protection without breaking the bank which is a major plus for me.
The case is not made of the same material as your typical silicon case so you don’t have to worry about it stretching after time and not fitting your phone as snug as it did on day 1. It’s made out of a material called Thermoplastic polyurethane, which is why it won’t stretch like typical silicon cases but still offers incredible (see what I did there?) shock absorption and abrasion resistance.
It has cutouts for all the buttons and ports with the exception of the volume rocker. Some say it’s a little difficult to adjust the volume but I haven’t had a problem with it. On the interior of the case it has a slick looking argyle pattern, I think this was a way to make two versions of the same case while saving money on materials. I think that’s pretty damn smart and I actually like the pattern on the inside (kinda reminds me of the bright red coloring under the battery cover of the OG Inc).
All in all, this is my favorite case for this phone to date. You can pick it up on Ebay or Amazon and there are more pics after the jump.
It'll take too long for me to post all the pics so check the site if you want to see them all. Thanks. LINK
i had one of these bad boys on my OG Inc.

My pleasure
I just got a case like this today that is made from the same material and its great! I really like how it doesn't bulk up the phone and won't fall off like silicone or plastic cases.

Review: Spigen SGP Valentinus and Curved Crystal

Short and to the point. Hope this gives you a better idea of the case.
Please hit thanks so I know I'm heading in the right direction to do more reviews!
Bigger pictures available on my blog: http://chrismchoi.blogspot.com/
Enjoy!
The cases I am getting to review are just getting better and better. The quality of the Spigen SGP cases are superb. None of the other dry application screen protectors fit. But Spigen SGP came to save us. The Valentinus I review is Vintage Brown. .

The Curved Crystal Screen Protector includes:
Two Steinheil Curved Crystal Screen Protectors, a micro-fiber cloth and a squeegee.
This is the Curve Crystal Screen Protector applied. It was easier than I thought. Just line it up and lay it down. Squeegee like normal.
Cut-outs are accurate. Camera does not show signs of interference.
Room for 3 cards and some bills.
MSRP: $15.99 Curved Crystal
$39.99 - $54.99 Valentinus Wallet Case - Available in 8 different variations.
This is my exact set up when I do not feel like using any of my other cases. Being a girl, this case comes in handy for when I don't feel like carrying my entire purse when making a quick run.

Denting?
Many people have complained about how easily the Curved Crystal is dented-- what's your experience with that problem?

I think the denting comes from it being thin? That's just an assumption.
Mine went on perfect. I think it's user install error. I've been doing screen protectors for years now on hundreds of phones. Work in wireless. I hate my life... But yeah. Its' fine. There's some weird curvy lines or something. I have no idea what it was. But from having it in my pocket, it worked itself out.
Yeah no matter how useful, practical, and convenient it would be... I don't think the macho douchebag inside me will ever let me get that case.

What case do you have?!

I'm currently using a standard black soft case but am looking for a change of pace.. What are you guys using? What works well for you?
Well, im using a pretty cheap one with kickstand which i really like. Found it on ebay at about USD$7.00. Its double layered, and protects the phone A LOT. Im also using a Zagg Screen Protector too. I want to keep my phone as close to new as possible.
Yeah i hear ya lol i got mine for cheap on ebay too, i have an iphone screen protector on LOL it fits because well... the ENTIRE iphone is the size of our screen *flex* but anyway

Consist of two parts
Has a rotating clip that can be converted to a stand
And the sliding parts that house the phone can be inserted in both sides if you want the screen to be inside and protected.
I bought it from local market ... Only 6$

Q&A or Accessories would have been the correct sub-forum for this thread, maybe a mod will move it for us.
I started with a OB Defender, moved to the Trident Kraken, and now I use the OB Commuter. I also have a skin that is made for a 3rd party extended battery, but I have never used the battery or skin.
OB and trident are so expensive lol i feel like any hard case would be fine.. i dont drop my phone lol and $50 is pretty crazy...
I have this case:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007K5H4YS/ref=oh_details_o03_s00_i00
Along with a white Fantom tempered glasss screen protector:
http://www.xgearlive.com/products/android/samsung/fantom
Love the combo; looks sweet, quite safe, and an unexpected side effect: the ladies dig it.
(sorry about the pic, my N7 is the only other camera I have at the moment...)

Well.. It depends. If you drop your phone right now and bust the screen you are going to spend way more fixing it. If you drop/scratch/ding your body/screen but dont break it then you are stuck looking at a flawed/ugly phone. With OB or Trident you are most likely not going to have these problems. I have dropped mine over and over but under the case is a flawless phone that looks like it just came out of the box. And under my ZAGG is a screen that has never been touched by a human finger. When I go to sell it, the price will reflect that.
Additionally the port covers are a must for me and are mostly only found on those cases. Just search for the threads on "wont charge / usb not working / etc". My old roommate had to send hers in for a replacement because of issues with the charging port.
You get what you pay for, for sure.
I use the Rearth Ringke Slim, and the Ringbo screen protector from the same company. The case is very slim and low profile, but probably doesn't offer the best protection from a major drop.

Disappointing to me as well, but not at all surprising. I am loving the OnePlus One, but being a new phone from a new company with unknown numbers in the world... the big manufacturers are unlikely to give it much attention. Or at least that is my line of thought.
I tweeted at incipio and they don't have any plans either. I asked rearth and am waiting for a reply. I'm just glad that diztronic is making a case for the oneplus one and I for sure will definitely support them for future phones for their ongoing support for any major phones.
But speaking from a business perspective, it makes sense... If oneplus did remove the invite system and more people asked them then these companies would make cases for this phone due to its popularity.
Sent from my One using Tapatalk
Oh yeah I completely don't blame companies for not supporting the One.
I posted this for informational purposes.
I'm sure I'll get a Cruzerlite at the least. But I REALLY want a more sturdy case if I need something with rugged protection. So far a TPU case is as protective as it gets right now.
I'm personally waiting for the Diztronic case. The cruzerlite case looks nice but the design isn't really my thing.
Spigen tends not to support a lot of phones/carriers. They never delivered a case for the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, and now the One. Although as someone else mentioned, it's not surprising they aren't supporting the One. Right now it's a niche phone and may not ever have the popularity/availability of other major devices.
So Cruzerlite and Diztronic cases are at this time the best possible cases for Oneplus one phone?

I wasn't a big fan on the neo hybrid. It looks nice but it makes the phone too bulky and rectanglar shaped. Mainly the bulk of the case was the problem for me.

Case for Razr 5g

I ordered a case from Otterbox after a chat session. They told me it would fit this newer version of the Razr. Well guess what..... it didn't fit. Trying to find a case for this phone is impossible. Motorola has as very expensive leather one on their website but its not available to buy anyplace. Anyone find a case for this phone?
I just got the phone myself over 36 hours ago. Give Spigen time to come up with a case
No skins either. Accessory market as quiet as this community...
CaseMate Tough Clear
I didn't want to wait to use my Razr 5G without a case, so I ordered this one for now...

I tried to order that clear case, but it said it would take about a month to get, so I went with the casemate case that T-Mobile is selling direct from their website and got it in 2 days.
I ordered one of the leather cases that come up on amazon(not pouch), the casemate from t-mo, and the evutec s-series. All ordered on thursday 10/15 so far amazon says its getting shipped, tmo has bee completely silent, and evutec has a tracking link which makes me nervous considering the site said its a pre order... will update with whichever one shows up and when.
Downshift mind adding pics of phone in the case?
How's the Case-Mate fitting for everyone? I got a black one from T-Mobile and it comes off half the time I open my phone.
same here...

I ended up getting the CASE-Mate clear one direct from Case-Mate, and have the same problem. I contacted Case-Mate about it, they asked me to email them a picture of the case fitment. They offered a refund or replacement. I took the former.
I find the case to "dense" thick on the phone, more than it needs to be. What I would improve on it, is to thin out the entire case by approximately half, and leave the "impact" prone areas the thickness that is on there now (the nose of the phone).
The part of the case that covers the smaller display relies on the volume control buttons as a source of retention, and the plastic is weak in that area and gives way. I have not used other cases to date to see what other case manufacturers are doing to keep that part of the case in place. *That is the flaw of the front case cover design, and I think Case-Mate knows about this.
The only 'case' I'd be interested in putting on this phone is maybe a rubbery vinyl skin to protect from surface scratches and keep it from sliding off smooth surfaces.
Everything else seems too bulky... Not that there are many options. Nor are there any skin options anyway.
Well, got the evutec case, here's a pic, I'll start a separate thread to fully discuss it, but the basics are probably don't bother it leaves the bottom of the chin completely exposed not just the usb c port/sim slot the whole thing.
Just got the Evutec case. It has double-stick tape to hold the case on. It isn't too bulky, fits nicely, and stays on the phone. Should be a $20 not $60 case.
